❝You've just received your paperwork to have the child. The child approaches you, looking very sad, but eager for something. Tugging on your clothes a little, they seem to want something. But what could it be? What item of yours do you give them? You choose an item and hand it to the child. It hugs the item and smiles as a light envelopes the child. When the light subsides, the child seems fine, but the item is gone.❞
Geoffrey had volunteered himself to go finish up the required paper work and 'obtain' the child that he had his wife had decided to adopt. The two had decided that because they were still having trouble conceiving a natural child, that they'd adopt and they'd adopt something that wasn't human. Running a hand through his unruly black hair, the aged wizard made his way to the Academy, a little nervous thanks to all the paperwork and signatures both he had Lucia had to write down on the stack of papers. He had never known that adopting a child would be so much work, oh he would have to do a paper about that for the Muggle Studies --- but then he wondered if it would be considered a proper paper seeing as he knew he wasn't dealing with muggles. In fact, most of the people he had seen around the Academy weren't even human, which was why the place had piqued his interest and natural curiosity. Finally arriving at the main building of the Academy, the 'Main Hall' as one may call it, Geoff parked his small car and awkwardly took a hold of the stack of papers, "Come on you silly pieces of parchment.." He grumbled to himself as he backed up with the stack, kicking the door of his car closed before walking off to the doors.
Frowning a little when he saw that it was near impossible to open the doors with his hands full of papers upon papers, the Wizard shuffled about the set of four doors before a woman inside had noticed his need to get inside the building. "Oh, I'm sorry I didn't see you sooner!" The point-eared woman said with a slightly amused tone, bowing a little as she held the door open for Geoffrey who quickly made his way inside. "Don't worry 'bout that, right now I need to set these here papers down. I didn' think you lot had so many papers to sign and carry 'bout when you just want to adopt a young one." He laughs a little, making his way over to the front desk and setting the foot high stack of papers down with a relieved sigh. "Oh! Are you Mr. Myles?" The woman asked, a grin soon making it's way to her thin, pale lips as she slid behind the desk and sat back down.
"Aye, that is I." Geoffrey chuckles a little, "Lucia would've been 'ere with me but he was busy off on a quick trip to one of the local Universities, had to do a presentation 'bout local produce for their Culinary Arts classes." He smiles a little, handing over the first page of the stack of papers, the secretary taking it and quickly skimming it over, her eyes darting back and forth across the page. Nodding every so often as she pursed her lips, focusing on the sheet before sliding the stack down onto the desk below the main counter of the front desk, scanning them all quickly and typing away on the computer off to her right. "Lets see here.." She whispered to herself as she pulled up the couples information, a smile appearing again, an approving nod as she looked up to the wizard.
Geoffrey looked down at the woman, still nervous and excited, "Is everything alright?" he asked, his anxiety showing in his shaking voice, something that rarely happened now. "Everything is fine, I'm just surprised that we have a Wizard of your standard in our midst. I'm sure that our current students would be willing to learn magic from you, even if theirs is a different form." the secretary stated before going back to typing away, leaving Geoffrey quite stunned. His magic skills being used for teaching? Oh if he did that he'd have to talk with the Ministry of Magic to make sure that what he was doing would be kosher with them, even if he wouldn't be teaching muggles. A sharp, clearing of the throat snapped the man out of his train of thought.
"All the paperwork is done, you and your wife pass and your backgrounds are great. Now if you'll just stay here for a moment, I'll be right back with the child." The elven-like woman seemed to whisper as she stood from her chair and made her way through a door just behind the desk, the Main Hall eerily quiet, a place that seemed at first glance to not be a place where you could adopt a child. Keeping his eyes on the doorway where the secretary had vanished, Geoffrey's eyes widened as she returned several minutes later with a child in tow. A boy with soft red hair and slightly dull blue eyes, a thin, weak smile on his lips. "This is Jason.. he'll cheer up in a bit, most of the kids are a little sleepy and vague when they first meet their parents." The woman said with a weak smile, letting go of the boys hand and letting him make his way to the Wizard.
Geoffrey grinned, kneeling down and picking the boy up, resting him against his hip, getting an awkward yelp and a slightly bigger smile from the toddler. "Is everything done then?" He asked, gently rocking a little, not wanting to scare the boy too much. "Yes, everything is done, you'll probably get some informative packets from us in the mail from time to time.. but other than that, the paper work is done and Jason is legally yours." The elven secretary says, a slight twinkle in her eye as she watched the two boys walk off, Geoffrey grinning like a fool.
Once the wizard had gotten his son home, he lead the boy around the rather large and open house, showing him his room, the aviary and everything in between. As the tour ended, Geoffrey lead the boy back into the living area where a brightly colored vase was sitting on the coffee table, catching Jason's eyes due to the bright, happy colors. The wizard had only chuckled and turned to go do something else when it happened. The entire room lit up as the boy and the urn were engulfed in light, nearly temporarily blinding the aged man as it happened. As the light died down, Geoff turned to look for his son. "Jason?" He asked in a worried tone, gulping as he looked about the room before the light that had engulfed the boy had vanished, revealing a now brightly colored child sitting on the floor in a small pile of charred fabric.
"Jason..?" Geoffrey asked again as he walked over to the fiery haired boy with stunning blue eyes, kneeling down and looking to where the urn was and then back to the child. "You touched the Phoenix urn, didn't you?" He asked in a slightly terrified voice, knowing what it held inside. The boy nodded, grinning, "U'huh! Pwetty uwn!" he chirped, giggling happily and clapping his hands. Letting out a weary sigh, the new father sat down on the floor in front of his son, "Well.. they did warn me about this.." He whispered, not even noticing that his wife had just gotten home from her day trip.
"Geoffrey I'm home, did you get o --- why is the boy naked?" Lucia asked as she entered the living area, confused by what she had just walked into.
