Maion was a rather amiable Soquili with a sense of righteousness about him. There shouldn't be a reason for her to fear him any longer. What dark and dismal shadows that might have shielded this outlook before were gone now. With well adjusted eyes and a greater perception Maisie could very well see that there was nothing frightening about Maion after all. It seemed the large stallion was rather appreciative of his mother choice in name. Yet, it was sort of a secret as to why he hesitated at the last part. Perhaps something serious had happened between the mare on her son that wasn't so innocent, like the rest of Maion. Still, it wasn't her place to pry.
When he repeated her name and said it with his suave voice instead of the usual meek one that presented it she felt a sense of happiness. "Mhm, Maisie," she gave him a light-hearted reassurance before eying him slightly. She had a look of curiosity and awe about her. It even shocked herself to feel that she was no longer drawling her ears back, shaking at the knees, or stuttering over her words. A sense of relief and maybe even some protection was washing over her. Maybe this is what she needed. Somebody to protect her and make her feel safe. A quick shake of her head shoved those thoughts away. Her mane whipped around slightly at the sudden motion. Some timidness still surrounded the sensitive idea. After all, stallions had only abused her and her mother. Still, Maisie couldn't help but be drawn to their strength and bravery.
The mare hadn't even noticed this but she was lost in her own train of thoughts, and only with that refined voice was she brought back to reality. "Heh, Maion. You worded that as if I'm some vain, selfish female," she gave a small breathy laugh only to have it trail off. Perhaps she was selfish. She had thought so on certain occasions but now that another was bringing it to her attention it only felt all the more real. She began to walk, and the giant followed her, nearing her side. She glanced up to him, having to crane her neck back quite a good ways before laying her eyes upon his. "Who says you ever were an inconvenience? You saved my life. The least I can do is offer you a late night stroll." A smile crept onto her lips and her head leveled out, watching the space in front of them as they walked onward.
It wasn't until he asked where it was they were headed that she tilted her head slightly, "The forest... just beyond the prickly bushes and evergreen trees. That's where I was going to go before... well, I took that clumsy step off the ledge of that cliff." She gave a sheepish duck of her head, trying to sooth her embarrassment. "That is where my son is... or... should be.... we meet there most nights for a sweet snuggle. It does us both some good." Her tone was happy for the most part but there was some slight concern buried deep as well.

When Maise spoke of his words depicting her as a 'vain and selfish female' Maion felt his cheeks blush, he had never intended to offende her. Nor had he intended her words to describe her as soon. His eyes found hers as he spoke with truest sincerity; "I am deeply sorry for that, it was not my intent to despict you as such. I had aimed for couragous and brave." He bowed his head in apology before continuing, "I promise I will contemplate my words more carefully before describing you to my children." He smiled softly and continued their walk, listening intently to each of her words. He was still feeling the weight of his guilty... he had wanted to help her confidence, not destroy it with misplaced words.
Maion nodded as she once again offered the stroll they where currently on, if she was comfortable with the situation he would do no more to comment against it.
"Your son?" He paused and looked at her, a softness filled his eyes. The mare beside him looked to young to have bore a child, about the same age as his own, yet she had. Wonder and love were the two things he always associated with mothers and children, the way they looked at each other was breath taking. A connection that was invisable and made of nothing yet the strongest of any out there, the fact that you couldn't see it only make it stronger... invincible. Maion was a great believer that a mothers love could conquer all.... his own twisted family excluded. But that, as they say, was another story.
Remembering the urgency in her tone and the worry for her son's well being Maion deduced that the child was young, which made him wonder why he had not been with Maise? Not that he would have wanted them both to fall... but why would she leave her young? Unless his father was with him? Curious Maion asked; "Is he alone Maise? If so... we should make haste to him!" The thought of a defensless foal all alone in the darkness made Maion's blood run cold, he couldn't stand when bad things happened to children. They where to be protected and loved, not buried.

Maisie raised her eyebrows in surprise as the courtly gentleman seemed so stunned by her accusations. He must have truly been trying to compliment her rather than humiliating her. For his obvious error she could forgive him. It was just in her nature to be a forgiving girl when simple mistakes were made. "It's quite alright Maion. No need for fretting. I assure you'll tell such wonderful stories to your children," a smile shined from her as she glanced up at the large male walking beside her. It amazed her to think how quickly she grew comfortable around the stallion, and yet it seemed silly she was ever frightened of him in the first place, now.
When he ask of her son she gave a quick nod, "Yes, he is a young and spunky little thing. Always telling me how independent he is, although I know better... he's my pride and joy." She beamed with a mother's glow as she continued with her slow and steady steps. When the giant of a stallion asked such pressing questions she began to feel overwhelmed and stuttered through her response, "H-he is... I uh... I doubt he'll be there waiting for me still but we could always hope." She knew it was unusual for a mother to say such things about her son but her response was suitable for the situation at hand.
"He's not mine... though I treat him as if he were. I adopted him when I found him alone, saying that he didn't have parents... I couldn't just leave him so I took him in. Some nights he comes, other nights he stays away. Usually he tells me of the friends that he encounters. He's a clever boy, and doesn't get into much trouble." She hoped this would ease Maion's worries since the elder seemed to be concerned. "He is well grown. Nearly adult I would say," she gave a positive nod as they continued to walk through the forest with a new haste.
It wasn't to long before they approached the thicket where Maisie and Cobb often curled up beside one another and her heart fell slightly in her chest as she saw the place empty. She gave a soft frown as she stepped upon the tender grass that had grown flat from how often they slept in that spot and curled up as she usually would, looking a bit solemn. "He's probably off with a friendly acquaintance," she spoke quietly to herself as she stared up at Maion from her laying position on the ground. "Um... thank you for walking me um...." she glanced around momentarily, trying to think of what to call this place, "... home." She gave him a thankful smile but there was a loneliness in her eyes.
Still, a troublesome thought dangled in her mind, causing her to seem a bit restless. She tried to suppress her emotions but they continued to bubble over, causing tears in her eyes. "Does this... make me a bad mother? I try... I really do try... but sometimes things prevent me for being with him.... I... I don't want to smother him... because he's not truly mine to do so with but... I do love him." She spilled her emotions to the male. Something that she didn't just do with anybody. It was a select few who got this far with her. Who managed to make her feel comfortable enough to express her true thoughts and feelings.

Maion listened eagerly, it was true he was worried about the foal but since the mother -Maisie- didn't seem overly concerned it helped him relax a lot. True foals needed to be protected and watched a lot but the issue was that crowding them too much also had a negative effect. Maion believed that foals needed a safe enviroment to grow up.... but even then he never stopped them from exploring and learning. As Maisie spoke about how her son wasn't naturally born of her Maion couldn't resist saying; "Just because he is not flesh and blood does not make him any less yours! My son Drashi... although not by blood will always be my son, and as such I would happily give up my life to save his, to see him happy. You feel the same.... don't you?" He already knew the answer, could see it in the way she spoke of the boy, of how she worried even though he didn't always appear when she hoped. He couldn't bare to see her so upset so added; "I am sure you boy gets up to a lot of mischief" He chuckled, a smile covering his face as he adjusted his wings to protect his pelt from the wind.
"You have a kind heart little Maisie," It was true, not many would take in a foal that didn't belong to them, fewer still would keep a basket if it then popped into something they hadn't expected.... many feared Kalona's and skinwalkers -and although it was with good reason, Maion could see himself ever fearing a Kalona child or even punishing a skinwalker child.... true he wouldn't bring the child up, after it all it is imprinted in their DNA to be evil but he wouldn't simply kill the creature.... after all only pure skinwalkers produced skinwalkers, the rest were cursed. "You must be proud of him," he said as he began noting their surroundings..... again feeling himself relax at the idea that the boy was near adulthood, he was sure he would be able to hold his own by now.... if not Maion would offer him defense lessons.
When they arrived to find nothing, Maion wondered if Maisie would be sad. He looked at the shy quiet mare but decided not to ask directly, instead he said; "You are more than welcome. And no Maisie, it does not make you a bad mother.... foals, especially colts like to explore and learn. And as you said your son is nearing adulthood -perhaps he has simply been whisked away by a fair lady? I can still remember the first time my youngest son Mal stayed away from home.... I worried all night but he was fine, didn't even realise he had done anything wrong, which I suppose he didn't." He grinned, remembering the day as if it was yesterday, both he and Sengdroma had worried about their son.... but now it was a regular thing and neither of them battered an eyelash.... strange how things changed so quickly.
Yet as he heard the sad words of Maisie he couldn't help but shake his head; "It doesn't matter if he is truely yours by blood or not.... from what you have told me he has accepted you as his and you have accepted him as your own. That's all that mattered. I am sure he is a stunning boy." He smiled, wondering if there was anything he could do to help this mare out, it was getting late and it was clear she was getting tired... but maybe tomorrow? "I hope you do not...." He paused, thinking of the best words to use; "...think I am rude by saying this.... but you don't have many friends do you Maisie?" His first clue was the way she ran and shrank away from him when they first crossed paths.... but since then she had tried to make him feel comfortable over herself, if she was experienced in friendships she would have known that taking something for yourself every once in a while was needed. Perhaps he could help her with her shyness.... "I have a daughter, about your age I believe. If you would like I could arrange a meeting? I could bring her to meet you tomorrow -we will bring breakfast of course! He smiled and waited for her reply.

The giant of a stallion did speak soothing words but Maisie was finding it difficult to settle her guilt. Perhaps there was a loving family out there looking for Cobb and just hadn't had the luck of finding him. What ever they ever showed up? Would she be gracious enough to give up her little bundle of joy? The thought alone stung her heart with a pain she had never felt before. Never had she feared loosing something so precious to her. Still, could she bring herself to tell the rightful parents no? Probably not. She was a coward in that way, and rejecting them would make her seem like the bad guy, and oh how she hated to be portrayed that way. Maisie snapped out of her own little nightmare and flipped her feather laced hair out of her eyes. She tilted her head back once more and gave Maion a long hard look. After all, he had just said some words that were pretty hard to swallow for Maisie. "A kind heart is sometimes a great downfall though..." she let her words sink in and laid her head on the cold grass below her. This position of laying down was most comfortable.
Proud? The talk of being proud of her son seemed to melt away all the negative energy that had been pooling in the pit of her stomach. All tension was fleeing her tender and still battered body. "I am so very proud of him. He's turning into quite the stallion. I only wish I could be the one to take full credit." As her head laid upon the grass she seemed to have a mumbled sort of effect when she spoke, probably due to the fact that her jaw wasn't able to work properly like this. It was true that she had found Cobb in good health so the parents must have taken care of him well before he up and left. It always bothered her not knowing if he left on his own or if they abandoned him. Perhaps one day she would muster up the courage to ask him about the reasoning behind it all.
Maisie took a deep inhale and wished to keep talking to this lovely male but her eyes were already starting to slip shut. All of the excitement from the previous events were taking over at last. As Mai went on about how he recalled his son wandering off for the first time at night he had been nervous as well. This would get easier for her, she knew that. They already have practically. Before she had freaked out terribly and even stayed up the whole night looking for him. Now, she only got knots in her stomach but managed to sleep peacefully through the night. Maisie just wasn't one for letting go of the things she cared about. She hated loosing what she loved most.
All of the comforting words were sinking in little by little and soon Maisie's heart was at a normal pace and her muscles relaxed. Perhaps that might have been because she was so exhausted. Either way, she was calm and ready for a good nights rest. Would Maion stay with her for the night? That was a bit eerie to her, since she didn't know of the man all that well, but she wouldn't mind since he did save her life after all. Just as she was about to offer he beat her to the start of a new sentence. When he accused her of being some what of a loner she snapped her head up and stared at him rather embarrassed. If he could see the blush heating up under the fur of her cheeks he would have been ashamed. She probably would have turned a shade of crimson red. She didn't even feel the courage to respond to such an accusation. She only rested her head back down on the grass and had a look of self pity on her face. Luckily the stallion went on to saying how he wanted to introduce her to his daughter.
The thought of meeting somebody knew twisted up her guts but it wasn't a nasty feeling. Maybe something of excitement, mixed with a bit of fear of rejection. "I'm sure your daughter is very lovely but-" she cut herself off, realizing the opportunity she was passing up. Did she really wanna turn down her chance to make a decent friend. A friend who would probably be as kind to her as this male. "Alright. I accept. I would very much love to meet your daughter." At the mentioning of food Maisie's stomach gave a small growl to let her know it demanded food. That would have to wait for tomorrow morning. The poor mare had forgotten to scavenge for dinner but it's not like she'd starve by missing out on one meal. She'd survive. "I'm looking forward to breakfast with you two. I shall remain here so you'll know where to find me." She gave him a grateful expression and curled up on the grass. "Goodnight, Maion... I look forward to seeing you again in the morning." She gave a small, sleepy sigh before letting her eyes drift shut. The sheer presence of the massive, heroic stallion made her feel comforted, yet she knew he'd be leaving so she didn't get attached to the feeling.

Maion nodded his head as he watched the mare drift off to sleep, "Good night Maisie." He said before leaving her to her dreams. He would return, and bring his daughter with him... along with breakfast. He hoped she would enjoy a selection of berries, apples and sweet grass.
As he walked away he contemplated things that had passed, and hoped that in some small measure he would be able to aid this mare. Everyone deserved a friend, and from what he had seen so far he was sure she would blend well with Chandra.
