That's most of the Disney Afternoon (well, my era, anyway) coming out on DVD. TVshowsondvd.com also tell me that TaleSpin is due a release. We've had Goof Troop single releases, along with Quack Pack. By my count, that leaves only Gummi Bears and Bonkers.

After that, it's the wrong kind of Disney...

In that case, I guess I should stock up on the current releases, get these last couple of ones, build a bunker, and hide out in there to watch them and play "Kingdom Hearts II".

...Figure it's best to play it safe, just in case Walt rises from the grave (or Magic Kingdom) as a multi-legged machination (1000 points to the person who gets the reference razz ), in response to dvd releases of anything marked with a "Disney Channel Original Series!" label.

Updated news (thank you TVshowsondvd.com):

DuckTales vol 2 *will* include Treasure of the Golden Suns, aka the pilot mini series.

Chip n Dale Rescue Rangers vol 2 *will* include To the Rescue, aka the pilot mini series.

DW *will* therefore be over the moon come November!

YES!

It must get annoying when people use those DVDs to introduce new people to the shows (admit it, we're all going to force our kids to sit through DECENT shows) that we'll have to load Disc 1 of season 2 before starting up disc 1 season 1.

Still, at least they came to their senses EVENTUALLY.

I really need to get around to importing those things, knowing Disney, they wont be making them by this time next year. *Grumbles something about them being the only people who would make "limited edition" releases of the only animated movie nominated for Best Picture Oscar*

It wouldn't surprise me. Buy now, or forever hold your peace smile Warners could teach them a thing or two about release intervals, too. Animaniacs Vol 2 is due out in December, in theory. Yes, that's less than 6 months after the first release, not a year, Disney! Take note, next time!

PS Where the heck is the Jungle Book on DVD??

EDIT: Nooooooooo Warners, don't fall to the dark side!!!!! http://www.eyecravedvd.com/article.php?story=20060727200927967

I now have DW and TaleSpin on DVD - YES!

But the DW pilot is cut - NOOOOOOOOOOOO! The original version I have on video has a scene at the beginning, set to the DW themetune, where DW is roping in some villains. This one cuts straight to DW delivering the thugs to the police station. Maybe I'm overly fangirlish, but that's wrong, darn it!!!! Now I'll have to keep that video of mine...

EDIT: And they've cut "Just Us Justice Ducks" - we no longer see Darkwing get flattened by a falling beanstalk (don't ask!). That's another video I'll need to keep. I guess that if the DVD releases ever get that far, I can expect never to see "Hot Spells". GAH!

EDIT again - and yet we're allowed to see DW get blasted with a cannon and drop various heavy objects (anvil, weights, safe etc.) on Negaduck? And indeed see Negs plummet straight through the concrete from the top of a skyscraper? Does. Not. Compute.

But still, delivered almost a week before the release date? Now that's service! *And* it costs more now than it did when I ordered it...

DW

EDIT: Oh and btw, The Little Mermaid is getting her long-awaited DVD release October 3rd....

Life is like a hurricane... but not on Playusa.com. Where in blazes is the pre-order for DuckTales & Chip 'n' Dale? Well, I'll keep checking daily...

I eventually had to order from deepdiscountdvd, as playusa still didn't list anything. But it seems like Amazon is the only place guaranteed to have items available for shipping - Deep Discount are still awaiting theirs.

Still, it should hopefully ship tomorrow *crosses fingers*

With any luck the TaleSpin & Darkwing sets sold well enough that we'll eventually see volume 2 of those too.

I loved Bonkers. I widh they'd put it out on DVD. I'd certainly buy it.

Yay, a fellow fan! I always thought that show was under-rated. Granted, I was not a big fan of the short cartoons that Bonkers supposedly made before he was a cop. However, the stuff with Lucky & with Miranda rocked - especially if Fallapart was involved smile

I've only got one of the police episodes on video, alas. It's one where Bonkers spends most of his time reminiscing about this Western he did one time that would have been a great movie, had the studio only chosen to release it. And about how the current case reminds him of this movie - something which drives Lucky nuts.

I vaguely remember another involving a train, Miranda, an escaped convict & some truth serum...

And there was one where Mickey Mouse got kidnapped, and one where Father Time got peeved about something so all the toons were being erased or something; and one where Bonkers went on a rollercoaster and all his colours got shaken up... You know, I'll stop now. smile

Oh wow, I barely remember Bonkers (and it's predecessor...."Raw Toonage", was it?). I have a friend who seems to be pretty big into it...And it was one of the 'different' shows out there, if I remember correctly. Though I don't think I could manage to recall a full episode synopsis, to save my life. : P

I can't remember whether Raw Toonage was before or after it, but it definitely had episodes with Bonkers in them. What we got over here seems to have been a cut down version - we got the Raw Toonage credits sandwiched around the occasional Bonkers / Marsupilami short. We also got the one with Sebastian from the Little Mermaid escaping from a nutty French chef.

What we didn't get was anything featuring the other Disney Afternoon characters. I hear there's an episode out there somewhere with Darkwing's Gosalyn in it that I'd love to see... Also I think Professor Von Drake was in a fair few, too - there's another character who didn't see enough daylight, although I loved how he appeared in Quack Pack.
