Livi's eye's lit up and she couldn't help but let out a gleeful squeak when she followed Leighs head and saw where they would be going.. She hadn't been up a mountain in months and the idea of exploring and examining the flora and fauna that only inhabit that area. She was so excited she felt she would burst. As she started to walk toward the mountain she did burst in a way. she burst with knowledge. "We're going to the mountains? Oh my gosh! I haven't been to the mountains in months! I heard that mountains are caused by two land masses smashing into each other. Though I think their called 'tectonic plates' and are moved by the lava flowing below our feat. It's really unbelievable. But that's also what causes earthquakes and volcano. Some mountains are even made up of cooled lava, or created by sediment from the sea floor." She looks sheepishly at leigh noticing she was rambling but doesn't really apologize. "All of this is really quite fascinating isn't it?" She asks hoping to confirm her rambling wasn't boring this really sweet mare.

Leigh blinked and stared in wonder at Livi. She wasn't bored, oh no. It was fascinating. "Really?" she exclaimed. "How do you know all of this? Lava beneath our feet? Tec...tonic plates?" Leigh laughed. "I never knew any of that. Do you really think one of these mountains could be a...volcano?" It was a little frightening, but in some ways, that's what made it exciting.
Leigh could tell they were both bursting with energy, so she turned her head towards Livi with a sly grin and said, "I'll race ya!"

Livi smiled happily when she was reassured that her small rant did not throw off her latest companion. "I was able to learn so much just by talking to people. Like I met a Soquili who spent most of his life just looking at rocks and trying to find out as much as he could about them. That's where I learn't most of my knowledge on mountains. Some i got just by observing the terrain. Like by seeing fish fossils, witch are dead fish bodies that have been turned to stone over time I believe, I can tell that a mountain used to be at the floor of the ocean. Though Some times you can tell by finding shells. And you can tell if it's a volcano by finding porous rocks or volcano rocks. It's very cool and I love looking at these things." Livi thought for a bit and smiled. "I don't know I'd love to look and see if it is though. I've never actually been on a volcano."
After finishing her sentence she heard something she never heard directed at her before, a challenge. Most of her interactions have always been questions and answers, rarely ever play like this. Even as a foal her brother's seemed to rather play with each other then her, so she would just play by her self, that's really what started her interest in the world in the first place. She grinned ready to accept her first challenge and try and win it, even though she wasn't really all that good at running, she was more of a brains girl. But still she darted forward whith a battle cry of "Your on!" Laughing all the way.

As the two of them darted towards the mountains, Leigh was concentrating on her balance. She had started out laughing hard, but now her face was focused. It was still all a game, but she knew that if she didn't focus, she ran the risk of falling down.
It was so hard to focus for long periods of time though, and her mind began to wander to the rocks that Livi had talked about. She hoped they could find some rocks in the mountains that could tell them a little bit about if they were volcanos or not, or what kind of Soquili lived there.
As they ran, Leigh began to notice the stones on the ground that they passed. Rocks of all kinds of shapes and sizes were zooming away under her feet. A particular jagged, but shiny rock caught her attention. "Look!" she cried out, forgetting that they were racing, and slowing her pace. Just then she lost her footing and tumbled to the ground. Lucky for her she had slowed down, or it would have really hurt. Her legs were a little scratched up, but she was more interested in the rock she had found. They were very near to the mountains now.
"What kind of rock do you think this is?" she asked Livi, hoping she would know the answer.

Livi skidded to a stop. She hadn't noticed Leigh slowing down till she was a good ten feet away. So when she turned around to see what was the matter she didn't see the stone, just her new companion falling down and hurting herself. Her mind went immediately to wether unis could heal them selfs. Or if maybe she'd have to go to another uni to erase those scrapes from her legs. At that point she felt glad that they were on their way to meet Leigh's uni friend. When she got closer though and saw the small dark piece of volcano glass her eyes widened with excitement and all thoughts of Leigh's injury shot out of her mind. She put her nose next to the small shard and snuffled at it then turned her head to look more closely at it. "Wow, I'm amazed you were able to see this when you were running so fast. I believe this is a small shard of obsidian. Though I don't see any large deposits of obsidian that it could of broken off of. I wonder if that means there is a two legger settlement near by." Lifting her head up she looks around there surrounding to see if she could pin-point any other sign of a near by human habitat that could point her toward where they may be. "I have observed a small caravan of two-legger's on a hunt and noticed that most of their tools and weapons were made of this stone. Though if it's not from a two legger it could off been brought here by an unknowing animal. That would suggest that the mountain we are approaching is a volcano. Though wether it is an active volcano or doormat I don't think I know how to find out with out it erupting, and then we would be dead." She continues to look around with an interested face all the way. "Do you see any foot prints or maybe more of obsidian?" She asks looking back at Leigh and seeing the scrapped legs once again bringing her injuries to the front of her mind. "Are you okay? Can you walk? I may be able to find some medical herbs but I have no knowledge of how to use them to their optimal ability.

Leigh had already forgotten about her scrapes until Livi said something about them. She was so fascinated by the obsidian that she hadn't given herself a second thought. Though, once Livi expressed her concern, Leigh stood up and smiled. "It's okay, just a few scrapes." She frowned down at her leg warmers. "Although...that's another rip in my legwarmers. Those don't heal like my legs will." She grinned at Livi. "I'm a Unicorn, so my scrapes tend to heal faster than normal. At least...I think they do. They'll be gone soon. I'm kind of used to it...some say that I'm...clumsy." Skylar, who had been knocked out of Leigh's hair during the race, had reached the two mares at this point and landed on top of Leigh's head. "You are clumsy. It's a good thing I took flighty before you fell down." Leigh gave an embarrassed smile and pawed at the ground. "These are my favorite legwarmers, but they're a bit scraped up. Skylar says it just gives them personality though."
She looked back down at the black shiny stone and admired it some more. "Obsidian, wow. I like that name," she commented. "You're so smart, Livi." She turned the stone over with her hoof and looked at the other side. "Do you think we should look around for some more? Or some footprints?" As she asked this she tilted her head around to see if she could see anything near by.
((ooc: I keep forgetting about Skylar, so I tried to throw her in there XD Leigh's little bird.))

Hearing Leigh talking about her legs didn't jog Livi's mind back to her hurt friend and her injuries. No, but it did take her mind off the obsidian for a second as her mind caught of new information. "I didn't know Unicorn's could heal faster then other soquilis." Livi said with excitement showing in every way it could."Do you know how much faster you heal? If not we could make an experiment and see. I can scrap my own lags and see how far the sun goes after you heal that I heal. Though your scraps might be to old for that seeing as you've had them for minutes now. Though if we make new injuries we could determine how fast based on them. Oh but your already hurt and that'd throw off the result." Livi stood there thinking her mind blocking out everything else she said, she'll probably feel bad about it later but right now she only has learning in her mind. "Well if I scrap myself as well and the make new wounds that might work. no, no, no you'd still of had them longer that wouldn't work. I guess we could wait till your wounds heal and then go from there. Or I could just injure my self now time how long both of our injuries heal and subtract the difference. Oh but I wasn't timing your heal time and don't know how long it's been." She stops to think again. Sighing as she resigns herself to wait to looks at Leigh. "Well I guess we'll just wait for you to heal." And with a new thought she starts to smile excited again. "And if we find Abdeil we can compare to see if different unicorns heal at different rates! Brilliant I'm so smart!"
Smiling proud of herself and he ability to think up an experiment that works her brain slowly switches from the experiment to prospects of finding people. "Ah! Yes we should be looking around! I think the best course of action would be to find foot prints, and failing that we should see if we can find any remnants of a campsite. Like what I know know is ash from there fire." Looking around Livi spots some crushed grass and compacted dirt, signs that something had been walking over it. And by how badly it looked trampled it looked like a lot of somethings. "Lets go more up I think I see signs of some sort of passage. Though I suppose it would have just been a herd walking through." Livi said while walking toward where she hoped to find some more people, or even more Soq's to learn from.((Sorry this took so long I just started vacation i a different country and it took a bit to settle.))

((ooc: It's okay! And, I really have no idea if unicorns do heal faster than normal soquili, do you?)) Leigh wasn't upset at all at Livi for wanting to experiment with her wounds, in fact, she was more impressed at the way she came up with new ideas to collect data so quickly. Leigh wanted to know as well whether she really did heal faster or not. "I don't actually know," she said, "I just feel like I do. But I would like to experiment and test it out. Maybe next time I fall down..." She chuckled softly and looked down at her fetlocks. They already looked better in her opinion. And they didn't hurt.
Skylar tilted her head to the side and stared at Livi. She thought it very strange that she wanted to wound herself in order to experiment. Seemed crazy to her, but Leigh didn't seem to notice. "Don't fall down again, Leigh..." Skylar twittered.
Leigh just laughed and followed Livi to the place where the passage was. Once she looked, she too could see the signs of what looked like lots of horses passing through. Leigh had never been part of a large herd before, so the thought it would be exciting to see one. She doubted Abdiel would be around though. He was so elusive...how would they find him? She didn't want to say anything to Livi though, because she was having so much fun.
"Do you think it was a very big herd that came through here?" She asked Livi.
"Be careful," Skylar chimed in. Skylar was used to having to be the responsible one. Leigh never thought that things could be dangerous. She viewed the world through rose-colored glasses.

((I doubt the staff will mind if we just assume that they do. And if it turns out they don't I doubt they'll mind your Unicorns being able to since it's such a small thing you know? ^_^ Livi can understand Sky right?)) "We're in agreement then." Livi says smiling. "We'll post pone this experiment for another time. And for now we can concentrate on these tracks." She said as she starts to look back at the ground. "I'm trying to decide weather it really was one group. It could have easily been a large number of solo's passing threw here over a span of time. I'm not a very good tracker though so I can't be sure but I think I see both two legger feet and soquili feet. So either a group of soquili and a group of people passed threw or their together. Some Soquili do seem to love living with two leggers. Witch I don't get. You know a lot about to leggers do you like the idea of living with them?" Livi asked curious if maybe it was a common ideal to want to live with something you couldn't understand. Humans seemed to do it all the time. And even though Livi could communicate with all sorts of creators she felt she never really understood them. They never really cared about learning as much as she did and some were even scared by how far she'd go to learn how thing were in the world. Like the time she jumped of a cliff to feel how the mysterious force that kept her from flying felt like, to try and find a way around it with out wings that she was denied by birth. But she was only a kid then and has learned that there is no way to fly with out the support of wings. After her minute of silent thinking she looks and see's another chunk of obsidian a little farther up the hill. "So Humans have passed threw here. I knew it! Look Leigh more obsidian! Lets head up the mountain then it's a positive that humans have been this way so even if we don't find your brother we'll find something." Livi said already forgetting that Abdeil wasn't really her brother jus a close friend.

((ooc: yes, Soq can understand familiars right? I just thought Sky would be the same way. So Livi should be able to understand her.)) Leigh examined the footprints along with Livi. Skylar just simply sat on Leigh's head, waiting for what outcome would come of this adventure. Leigh thought that there was some way of telling how fresh footprints were, but she didn't know what it was. She thought maybe if she looked around at some of the bushes and twigs she would see if they were broken, but that still wouldn't tell her how long ago anything passed through here.
About the two-leggers though she was a little more certain. "Some Soquili do enjoy living with them in the village, but sometimes they can be very spoiled." She giggled and let the stars in her hair jingle. "The two-leggers in the village are very nice and get along well with Soquili. Abdiel says that meeting them outside of the village though can be dangerous. I've never met one outside of a village before. Abdiel doesn't even come into the village if he can help it. The two-legger I'm closest with though, she lives a little bit away from the village in a tee-pee of her own." Leigh was thoughtful for a moment. "I think Soquili and two-leggers can understand each other from our faces. You can see in their eyes what they are thinking, like little windows into the boxes of their mind."
Leigh also found another piece of Obsidian. "Livi, did the humans leave these here?"

((Thought as much but just wanted to make sure ^_^)) "It must take a lot of understanding to be able to communicate with only your eyes. Or maybe a deep connection." Livi looks thoughtful for a moment considering What it'd be like to be in such a relationship. How it'd feel, and maybe their way of communicating could translate to a more particle use. "If I can just dissect and understand how that works I'd be able to understand anything I tried to communicate with. Maybe i'd even be able to understand humans finally and learn all their secrets. Like the ability to conjure fire." Staring off and thing of everything she could learn from humans she all but forgot that Leigh was still there, or that they were looking for people, or her brother. She might even of walked off with out her t some point if she hadn't talk. Or maybe even if she had't just said something interesting. "Yes humans did. but the fact that there are so many pieces is weird. Obsidian is hard to find normally and it's hard. And by my observation it's difficult to work so the fact that they are loosing so much is odd. Either they have recently found a huge quarry of obsidian near their home or these are parts of their weapon and they got in a fight. Though i suppose one of their bags could have ripped and they are unknowingly loosing valuable tools. But yes I can say for one hundred percent certainty that it is by humans. They show signs of being chipped away at to make certain shapes like all human tools." Livi looks at them with frustration. She'll never know what really happened here she can't communicate with them. Can't ask them what happened if she could only find someone who could talk with humans deeply with there eyes to examine. "Ah! Wait Leigh you have a two legger friend right?!" Livi said excited by the prospects of finally finding a way of communicating with two leggers. "Do you communicate with your eyes with her? How does that work? Is it similar to telepathy? Do you just know what they want to say n your head? How accurate is is can you learn a lot threw it are just a little?" Livi's flood of questions flew out of her mouth with out hold as soon as they came to her in her excitement.

Leigh was a little caught off guard by her sudden questions. "Oh," she said, "I think...let me try to explain it again." She laughed apologetically. "It's not like telepathy. You can't really understand the words that they are saying. It's more like, when you see their eyes, you can understand what kind of emotions they are feeling towards you. You can tell if they are sad, or happy, or proud, or angry, or indifferent. Things like that." Leigh looked around at the chipped pieces of Obsidian. She too wondered what had happened here. "I suppose if we found the humans who left these, we could tell by their eyes how they are feeling. If they seem sad or angry, we could assume they lost a battle. Or if they seemed victorious, we could assume they won a battle. I guess all we can do is keep looking, right? And maybe along the way we will meet Abdiel, or two-leggers. Either way, I'm sure we will keep finding interesting things!"
She trotted to catch up to Livi, who had wandered along the path. As Livi was looking one way, Leigh looked the other. Together she knew they could find something. "Hey, what's this?" Leigh said, nudging a piece of pottery with her nose. "A broken bowl of some sort?"

Disappointed by the fact the communication wasn't as precise as Livi would have liked. So she sighed and lowed her head in disappointment. "oh." she said before getting over it completely and moving on to the next interesting piece of knowledge to enter her head. "So instead of it being a way of communication it's more you can just more accurately guess their feelings. That is an interesting skill, maybe even helpful." Looking around their feet and bodies as she moved forward she nodded. "Yes we could use there expressions as a way of knowing. But they my have already moved on emotionally and have started to concentrate on something different. I think we should take one of the obsidian shards to show them to spark their emotions a new to get a better feel of what happened." Snuffling at the ground some she continued. "Though it weird. If it really was a battle ground at some point wheres the blood? I'm assuming if they had to use obsidian weapons there would be blood. Maybe if we move farther up we will find some. Maybe we might even find some dead bodies to see what kind of injuries they have to estimate what it was they were fighting. Themselves or some soquili."
Turning when Leigh mentioned the clay piece she trotted over and stared at it. It certainly did look like a pot. "It must of broken during the attack. But yes it looks like it was either a pot or a bowl." Looking around where Leigh found it she frowned. "The real question is where the rest of it is. Maybe it got trampled into dust? Or unknowingly kicked farther away from the original brake spot." Livi frowned a little deeper and started to walk away from where they were headed before. "This evidence is so odd I don't know what to make of it at all." Turning back and heading farther up the mountain she beckoned to Leigh. "Come on I think most of our questions will be answered if we can just find those two leggers and see what stat their camp is in. Standing here speculating will get us no where."

Leigh's mind was swimming with questions and different ideas. She hoped that nothing terrible had happened here, but the evidence seemed to point to something of the sort. But still, there was no blood, so that was a good sign.
Skylar leaned close to Leigh's ear, showing similar concernes, she twittered into her ear, "Leigh...maybe we should go back..."
Leigh whispered back, "It's okay...it's already happened, nothing can happen to us."
"Abdiel isn't here to protect us..."
Leigh continued to walk forward behind Livi, who didn't seem to be worried in the slightest, and she shook off all remaining doubt.
Smiling, she suggested cheerily, "Maybe it's some sort of sport that the humans were playing? What do you think?"
As they continued to walk, Leigh could see tents coming into focus. She couldn't tell yet whether they were inhabited or not. Her heart beat increased with anticipation. "Livi, look, that way," she said, looking towards the small village.
((ooc: Any ideas as to what's happening? I want to eventually bring Abdiel in, but I'm not sure how yet exactly...))

Livi looked at Leigh and Skylar with curiosity, she didn't say anything though. They obviously didn't want her to know what they were saying, whispering and all, so she didn't ask. As she walked toward the village that Leigh had pointed out. She stared to think what would make the most sense. And as she filed threw the evidence in her head, when something clicked. It made a lot of sense when she thought of it in a certain way, though she would know if it was true till she walked down to the village and find the evidence. If she was right then the small shards of obsidian she found had broken off of arrows, and the pot was dropped is a bit of fear and kicked around as people ran. "it might of been a bear or a moose. If it suddenly came up on their caravan the woman and children would run away as the men protects them. And based on the fact that there is no blood they won. Then took the body to there camp site to process it." He eye's lit up, if that was true she might be able to watch them skin him, or maybe watch the tanning process, and other activities that would only start after a big kill. "I'm glad you noticed the village. I might of walked right away from it." She turned to smile at Leigh and Skylar. ((So I have the idea that it could of been a sudden attack that they won, if it's in Abdeils personality he could have been near by and stopped to help heal the injured? or maybe he passes through while Leigh and Liv are there and see's Leigh and decides to hang out? Those are only idea's but I don't know him so I can't give a good idea. And ya the hunt idea unless you think of something else?))
