"No... its my fault." She interjected, blocking Zac out of the way. "I'm the older one its my fault i wanted the sweets not Zac, we all know i have the larger sweet tooth." She put on a guilty face and looked away. "Ill... Ill eat Zac's portions too." She probably really WOULD be sick in the bathroom,,, but if he didnt want sweets, she would cover for him. She didnt want to see him hurt anymore. "With all the love you poured into the food... how can i resist?"

Zac's mother could defiantly match him 'look for look'...if there was ever any doubt where Zac's particularly pointed glares ever came from now was a clear and defining moment.
She scowled between them before she seemed to realize they were a united front. "You DO remember your precious cousin here likes other MEN don't you Beth... you wouldn't cover up for THAT would you? Or have they asked you to participate in their dreadful Canoodling? "
"MOTHER!" snapped Zac horrified and furious. "We do not....CANOODLE And she's not been asked AND she is not 'covering' for Canoodling, Snoodles, Snuggles or any other RIDICULOUS terminology for affection and or SEX that you can come up with!"

"What the hell are you talking about?" She eyebrow quirked at that. Beth had a HUNCH that demy and zac were 'more' than just friends. They hadn't given an actual confirmation to her, so she wasn't lying. "If Zac does have someone special, which i have NO idea if he does or not... what does it matter what gender as long as he likes the person?" She drew her eyebrows together and stared back at the mother. In her eyes love was love it doesnt matter with whom. "Shouldnt you be happy if he has someone he can care about and the other cares back?" She resisted the urge to snip back more.
She WAS taken aback by the 'canoodling' though. "... You are a nasty person if you really think i would 'canoodle' or whatever the term you use for intercourse with my own COUSIN." She gave the best "EW" face she could muster.

Her eyes blazed and she suddenly stormed the rest of the way to the kitchen and swept the plates onto the floor with a resounding crash, pasta, bread, silverware and fragments went everywhere.
"CLEAN this up." She snapped..."And then go to your rooms... You wait... You wait till I tell your father...ONE of these days' he'll care... ONE of these days!" She snarled.
It was oddly hard to say who's father she was referring to, Beth's or Zac's...but maybe at this particular moment it didn't matter as she stormed past them towards her own room and locked the door.
Zac swallowed hard and then moved quietly forward to start cleaning up the pieces, he looked utterly blank, like a clean sheet of paper.

SHe winced at the sound of the plates... there goes yet ANOTHER set... she lost count of how many times she broke things. Had beth said too much? ...Well she was rather offended. She stuck up for Zac and would do it again if she needed to. She found herself being rather protective of him.... wanting to save him and not damn him.
"This is my fault..." She mumbled as she started to clean too, picking up the larger shards of the plates first. "I should have just kept my mouth shut and eaten the darn cake." She sighed dumping some of the fragments into the trash. "I wont apologize to her for defending you though."

"it's not..." He shook his head and glanced at her. "She wanted to be mad as soon as we turned down the cake... You didn't know it would set her off it just did. If I didn't live here I wouldn't believe that ANYONE could act like this... normally she really doesn't. I just... maybe she's finally realizing that Father isn't coming back... so it's not your fault... he said scooping up some of the fallen pasta onto the bread and tossing it into the garbage.
"....at least she killed one of the cakes..." He added fishing some chocolate frosting out of a puddle of tomato sauce.

"Nope... two. I see rainbow frosting over here." She said also pulling out a huge chunk of cake and tossing it into the bin.
"Youd think after....what... over 10 years she would have realized he...isnt coming back?" A pause as she wiped the floor some more. "Then again these occasional letters probably do not...help." What kind of man would leave someone and still write back? Its like... tugging on their heart strings, being hopeful... and its kind of cruel. "Zac... you think back their she was referring to your father... or mine?"

"I don't know..." He admitted and tossed a handful of ...stuff, into the garbage. "She was pretty ambiguous about it, maybe she meant both. I thought maybe she'd been drinking from the way she was acting but I didn't smell it on her." He shook his head and looked at her with a sigh.
"... I wish you didn't have to deal with this."

"From the way she spoke, it was as if she was talking about one man though... Oh well. She said finishing up the last of the large pieces. Moving over to the sink she washed her hands to remove the cake and spaghetti sauce bits.
"Well... i wont say i enjoy it because then ide be lying." She laughed, giving him one of her famous 'its ok' smiles. "But its not so ad, plus i can only imagine what you had to go through being here all these years. I think you can say, cousin, we both have high tolerance levels." She beamed and offered him a hand to help him stand up.

"Maybe -I'll- write a letter to YOUR dad..." He sighed. "Tell him to get you out of this hell hole... at least I have the dorms... Unless you transfer to crystal, and I VERY much doubt you want that...then you have to be -here- and that's just...rotten." He said with a sigh.
"Don't worry about me... we normally have a mutual agreement to ignore each other as much as possible."

She laughed nervously. "Maybe sending a support check but i doubt he will come and buy a new house. You never know... and even in crystal i dont think they have dorms?" She mused, knowing a few girls whom went to crystal and they all lived at home.
"Dont worry about me Zac, ill be fine." She was lying, and glad he couldnt smell them or she would have been had ages ago. At least he didnt have to deal with this all the time anymore...
"Besides she isnt usually home until late at night, means we all can have our space." With that she nodded, not meaning to be rude to him. "....I never want to see cake again." She laughed changing the subject, the floor was clean!
