Zu didn't hesitate to look into his new friends eyes and make the most solemn promise that he could.
"I promise, Nyota! The next time I see you we will finish our game." He wouldn't let her down, either. Zu was a lion of his word even at his young age, and he didn't want to lose a friend. Not so soon after meeting her! And she sounded so upset that he had to go... she must be as lonely as he was.
"Don't be sad, Nyota," he chirped at her, offering her a smile, "The next time you see me I'll be much stronger!" He knew that he probably wouldn't see her soon -- his mother had a way of picking up and moving out at the drop of a hat, and that made him a bit sad.
He would find her in the future, though. That was a promise.

Nyota watched as her new friend went on his way. His words were true and she too would keep her promise. She couldn't help but feel empty has she saw him disappear, but he promised and that gave her hope. Hope that one day they would meet again, and finish their game. She had no doubt in her mind that he would return. She too went on her way, but she would always have the memory; the memory of a young cub named Zu, who showed her a day she will never soon forget.
