Sitara scoffed. "That wasn't a storm. You should try flying in a typhoon." Sitara teased, "Now that is a storm. And an experience I don't want to repeat. Nearly broke my leg that day and Papa was furious." Sitara laughed lightly and banked, taking them to the river. She circled close to the ground until she found a good fishing spot.

"There, that looks good." Sitara said, gently placing Dakari on the ground before landing as well. The Deava shook herself and flexed her wings a couple of times before folding them to her back.

Dakari snorted as Sitara landed on the ground. "I don't care what you call it, we're never flying in high winds again. I think I throw you off a bit, and those small bits seem crucial!" He shook his head, half-exasperated and half-admiring of how Sitara didn't seem to fear anything.

He turned his attention to the body of water, slowly flowing past. It really was a good spot, wide but shallow so that even in the deepest part it would only just cover Dakari's head. "This is nice," he said approving, padding up to the edge of the water to peer down into it's crystal depths.

He threw her off a bit? Well, yeah, he could say that again. Sitara shook her head ruefully, deciding her insight was a small occurrence of insanity. "Maybe I should take you mountain diving. Find a mountain, fall off of it, hopefully open your wings before you splat onto the ground. Such fun." She teased Dakari. Sitara had to admit that she liked the fact that he trusted her enough to at least try different things. Like that time they tried fishing; didn't work, but it was mostly fun. Even if he did still have a...trepidation about flying.

"Yeah, it's not a bad spot at all." She replied. Sitara waded out into the shallow waters, making sure to 'accidentally' splash Dakari on the way out, and went still, waiting for a fish to swim up next to her. Quick as a flash, she dropped her head and removed a trout, carrying the wriggling fish back out of the water and onto the bank.

Dakari snorted. "I'll watch you try it first. Falling off a mountain sounds a lot more dangerous than swooping over water." He knew Sitara was slowly getting stronger from carrying him around, but he worried about what she'd just described. It sounded like it would put a major strain on her wings normally, and his weight added to that.....

Dakari shook his head; not in denial but more to shake the thought away. He hated that he'd become such a worrywort and a nag, especially when he wanted to impress Sitara. So he cared about her safety, sue him!

Trying to mask his thoughts he rolled his eyes at the Daeva and stepped into the water with more grace and at a slower speed. "Thank goodness there are more fish in this stretch than it knows what to do with, or you'd scare them all away."

Sitara took a bite of her fish and gave a soft laugh. "Jumping off a mountain is akin to a sharp dive. If you get the angle right, it's tons of fun, a little off puts a bit of strain on the wings, and if you're way off on the angle.... Well, nothing is a hundred percent safe." She said, thinking it was kinda cute he'd get worried about the dangerous stunts she was so used to pulling.

"Fish are too stupid to get scared. Lucky for me, otherwise I'd never catch one." She replied, going back to her lunch. She watched Dakari swim out of the corner of her eye. He was far more graceful in the water than she could hope to be, and she enjoyed watching him swim. And run. He was amazingly fast and looked so sleek when he ran.

Dakari felt Sitara's eyes on him, which for some reason made him feel........self-conscious. He covered this with a roll of his eyes. "You mean they're too stupid to stay scared. They all dart away from you when you get in the water, but them they just have to come around and check you out."

As if to empathsize his words a medium-sized trout came swimming up to nibble his paws, along with all those tiny fish that stuck to the shore and were too small for a good meal. Dakari struck, and came up a moment later with a sopping wet face and a thrasing fish held in his jaws. He bite down harder and waited until the fish stopped struggling.

"If you want to split hairs, yes, that's what I mean." Sitara replied, snickering a little. Their small verbal wars were always entertaining. "Either way, the fish are pretty stupid. Tasty though." She continued, finishing off her fish and splashing back into the river to catch another one. Sitara waited patiently for the fish to relax and swim around her again before grabbing a second trout.

Upon getting onto the bank, she shook herself to get most of the water from her fur. The crystalline drops flew, many of them landing on Dakari. Sitara snickered again before going to lay out next to him and continue their lunch. She could feel the thoughts that had awakened on their last flight come back, but Sitara tried her best to ignore them.

"Well you know me, I live for splitting hairs," Dakari said, in that famous drawl of his. It left others torn between wanting to laugh, or feeling as though Dakari needed to be sat on. Thus far no one had actually planted him in the ground, but the male was confident it would happen eventually.

He had come back to the shore and settled to eat his own fish when Sitara got up to catch a second one for herself. He didn't respond to the water droplets, both because it could have been unintentional and because if it wasn't unintentional then giving no reaction would irritate Sitara.

Not to say he didn't get a bit of revenge, oh no! All it took was a subtle flick of his head and that excellent bit of fish guts landed square between Sitara's ears. Dakari did mourn the lose of some good eats, but nothing said "I love you" better than fish goop running down the sides of one's face.

Dakari paused midbite. Nothing says I love you? Where'd that thought come from? It just popped up out of nowhere, as though it were something perfectly natural. Interesting. Did that mean he loved Sitara?

Sitara rolled her eyes at Dakari's tone, knowing he used it to tick others off. It worked too, by the way, but she wasn't going to give him the satisfaction of reacting to it. The fish guts on the other hand...Sitara shot out a wing tip, wedging it under her companion, and, using the heavy muscles that helped her fly, brought her wing up and flipped Dakari on his side.

Of course that's when the humor of the situation hit her and she started chuckling. Sitara flipped the guts off her head and ate them herself. "You're just lucky I..." She snapped her teeth together quickly and rethought her statement. "I'm not feeling murderous today, or you'd get worse." It was a lame threat, but she'd almost let the phrase 'I like you' slip.

She did. Sitara had to admit it to herself if not anyone else. If anyone besides Dakari had thrown guts on her head, namely Tsuna, Sitara would have probably wrestled him to the death. Well, at least defeat, she wasn't allowed to kill her brother.

Dakari snapped at Sitara's wing as she withdrew it, but it was more a going-through-the-motions thing than any aggression. He wasn't even aiming to hit, and so was not disappointed when the wing escaped him.

"I feel more lucky that I'm not a fish. If you think I'm bad just wait 'til you have kids! They're smaller and have a less refined sense of self-preservation, you'd be overrun!" Dakari felt a small twinge as he said that.

He was dense, but not in to self-denial. He'd discovered that yea, he had feelings for the Daeva. So it was only natural that the thought of her getting cosey with another male would make him clench his jaw just a little. Not in irritation at her, but in aggression at the imagined male. Or at least he assumed male, he didn't think Sitara was bi....

"Hah! If I had kids, I could fly off and leave them to you whenever they felt like whining." Sitara retorted. "That would drive you batty and you know it." The taunt, of course, carried the unspoken statement that he'd be the only one around. "It may scar the kits too, but I'm willing to risk it to see you driven insane." She said, smirking at the smaller fox.

Sitara had honestly never imagined herself with kids, but after Dakari had mentioned them, she could easily see little star studded kits with purple and white stripes. She could also see them jumping all over Dakari and her smirk turned to a small wistful smile.

Dakari was briefly taken aback. Did Sitara just imply......

To cover up the shock on his face he went to dump his fish bones in the lake. Not only was it getting rid of traces of his meal (he never ate the bones) the remains would attract more fish. He picked a slightly smaller one this time. He'd once teased Sitara about how much she ate in comparison to him, but it was only natural. For one she was a bit bigger than him, and two she had wings. Flying took a lot of energy.

"Yea, I suppose they would drive me crazy," Dakari responded slowly, setting his fish on the ground and looking down at it as if deciding the best place to make a bit. "I'd have to distract them by trying to draw their interest into plotting horrible things against their mother once she finally landed on the ground. Of course if any of them are daevas then they'd learn to fly and follow you about that way."

Sitara was pulled out of her imaginings when Dakari got up to get himself another fish. She took a few more bites and watched as Dakari seemed to hesitate over his meal, but he continued the little running joke...or whatever it was now. She was getting attatched to these nonexistant kits, and neither of them had expressed feelings for the other. Sitara knew she liked him but the other way around? Not a clue.

So why not test the waters? "If they learned to fly with me, I'd have to teach them to pounce on their father once we got back. Now that would be something to see, you getting pounced by a flying fluffball." Okay, so it wasn't so much testing the waters as throwing a huge rock into it, but what could she say? She was a Deava, and Deavas happened to be blunt on occasion.
PostPosted: Sun Nov 21, 2010 2:28 pm

Dakari nearly choked on the piece of fish in his mouth. He coughed several times to clear his throat, then looked up at Sitara with watering eyes. "Wow. I knew we weren't much of a pair for beating around the bush, but. Wow."

It was definetly surprising to Dakari, to hear that from Sitara. He knew he loved her, even if he didn't know if he'd have ever said it, but there were just those little things. She was a Daeva, for one. They tended to mate with other winged foxes, or Elders. Taller foxes. He knew a Daeva/Phim couple from his brief stay with the one-time Cruor Tribe. Maybe it was just because Daevas and Phims were such a rare sight in the world of Modifoxes. Phims had no trouble hanging around normal foxes, but Daevas were almost always.......scarce.

The Deava laughed at Dakari's reaction and prepared to laugh off the whole thing as a joke. She flicked the bones of the fish away and lowered her head to her paws, keeping the amused expression on her face as she watched Dakari. "Aw, shall I take that as a 'no' then?" She asked in an amused drawl. "My poor abused heart." She said in a joking tone.

With that truth pitched as a lie, Sitara rose to her feet and headed back to the lake, presumably to get another fish. She really couldn't keep her expression neutral at the moment. She definitely could have phrased that better, much more subtly. "Dummy." she muttered at herself, glaring at the surface of the water, not even seeing the fish.
