Thankfully for poor Erynion, his usually hungered status had been augmented by that adrenaline boost - senses sharpened, he recognized the scent of prey before he heard the female's voice, and thus was not dreadfully surprised when she spoke. What were the chances a rabbit would just hop to him anyway?
"Yeah . . ." He was putting the finishing touches, smoothing the back of the den out with a long-numbed paw before stepping back. It was decently sized given the amount of time he'd had, though in truth had Ery properly kept up his health, it would have been larger. As it was, it was good enough for the two wolves assuming they didn't mind touching - which he wasn't sure where he fell on that opinion. The female was scary and confusing . . .
He turned his head and showed her his hard work, barely able to contain himself as the sight of the rabbits. Not even the fact that it was squealing made him nervous like it might have normally. "I-I think it's deep enough. Um, good j-job hunting!" Two rabbits in one go was impressive and lucky, though he wondered why she would let one still be alive.

Her eyes fell upon the makeshift den for a moment and while she couldn't entirely see the whole thing it did not truly matter as she was not the one who was going to sleep there tonight. No, it was far to early to play that part of the game, best to string him along for a little while longer. "It will suffice." Thealia finally stated after a pause, her tone was close to neutral though there was a hint of tenderness to it just to make him think she did truly care.
"Catching a few mere rabbit's is not hunting." She pointed out. Where was the challenge in catching something so small that ran so abundantly in the entire area. No a real hunting trip would have fetched a deer, or perhaps boar on a very good day. But a rabbit would keep Erynion right where she wanted him in this trap, one small meal might lead to two right? And a wolf in his condition would have to be particularly stupid to turn down a meal even if it was just a small rabbit. Letting out yawn of boredom Thealia slowly released her grip on the still living rabbit.
The rabbit sensing the pressure lift from it's body began to hop away, albeit a bit slowly as it had bled a great deal and was still feeling the effects of being half crushed under the wolf's paw and the bite wound to it's neck. "I suggest you go after it." Thealia said casually as she lowers herself to lay down and pulled the second dead rabbit to her paws. "That one is your supper." The rabbit hopped towards the trees, wheezing a bit as it went, though injured it still had enough sense to try to escape to wolves hungry jaws. Without giving Erynion another look Thealia began to pull apart her own meal, content to ignore the male, or at least seem to, while he did what was ordered of him.

No rest for the wicked weary. Or the compliment-y.
A whine issued from Ery's throat as the rabbit was released, as he had hoped for a morsel of kindness rather than a morsel that was hopping away. His body was not happy with the extra effort to go after something that was even bleeding out for him, but his stomach was almighty master in this instance: FOOD. FOOD RIGHT NOW.
NOW.
Wasn't like he would get another easy chance guaranteed!
In a rush of seconds he was upon the poor critter, denying it the right to be dead first before he was tearing flesh off. Its squeaks were terrible, and smaller bones gave in under the large wolf's weight as he pressed it into the ground; its death throes laster three, maybe four seconds. Sympathy still lied behind his eyes, but Erynion was a starving wolf. He wished this didn't bring karma upon him for the bad treatment . . .
The wind picked up again as they ate, and where blood had splattered on his fur it grew even colder. He shivered violently and picked up his meal, bits of saliva dripping from his maw as he carried it into the den to finish off.
Somewhere between digging and pouncing, Ery had turned more instinctual. Less "b-b-but" and more "mine". In fact, at this point he didn't care if the female joined him or not, of this was all a wild goose chase or not, or if she was going to join him inside or not.
What mattered was the glorious food.

Thealia wasn't particularly interested in the rabbit she had caught for herself, it had merely been a thing to taunt the male if he proved unable to catch the other one as it limped away. However, she watched Erynion lunge after the injured creature with an almost renewed vigor and her ears perked forward in almost interest. Well she certainly had not expected that sudden change in him, and yet she found it pleasing. So he could do more than just looking pathetic and underfed. Her cold eyes watched as he shivered and then moved into the den. Picking up her rabbit that was barely touched at this point she padded towards the den, stopping at the entrance and dropped the rabbit to the ground.
"Now why don't you just stay there for a while." She called down to him in a pleasant voice. Head lowered, glancing in at the large male, a snarl crossing her lips suddenly. "You try to follow me or leave without my permission and I will kill you." Then her demeanor softened again, her eyes lit up and she inwardly laughed to think about what was going through his head from all of this. "Until next time, Erynion." And with a flick of her tail Thealia took off, abandoning the rabbit carcass at the den leaving it up to the male whether he ate it or not.
