The Pix are mischievous- but it's their nature.
As far as I know, Brownies do like milk, but I'm more aware of them awing over honey.

Honey is sticky, so of course it's going to be a bit much to clean.

If honey, or milk doesn't work- try faery sugar. It's any type of sugar- preferably white, mixed with vanilla extract, and dyed with a few drops of red food coloring to make pink sugar. They love the essence. Or leave the brownie a little knick-knack (something shiny, or natural).

I think the fellow just wanted to meet you Riley- till next time! heart

A Brownie is a domesticated type of faery that is usually known to help tidy up the house at night. They are seen as brown-colored, hence the name.

Nothing happened with the honey, and I'm afraid to do milk in my room for fear of it going bad and getting caught. Maybe I'll leave some out on the back porch, instead. It's much like a fridge out there this time of year.

If you want to stay close with brownies don't leave them clothing. It's just like the elves and the shoe maker where they'd help him and once he thanked them with clothing they left. Same sort of things as house elves from harry potter as well, give them clothes and they are free.

not that you want to keep them captured or anything but saying thankyou is more of and insult to them and chases them away, honey seems more like we're offering to them rather than thanking them....I think .....

Okay. Then try the faery sugar.

Well if that's the case, then I think they might be gone. It's more than possible that they mistook my random articles of clothing lying about as an offering to them and set them free by mistake. Oh well.

I've never heard of the faerie sugar thing, nor the thing about brownies leaving if you offer them clothing. It's not exactly like they're bound to the house: they live there, it's their home, and was their home long before you were there and will probably remain as such long after. Why would they want to leave?

I'v enever had encounters with brownies before but I've heard that they get insulted when you offer them clothes as a thankyou and leave. Most of that though is also taken from reading the elves and the shoe maker. They were content to help him until he thanked them and then they left.

The bottom line is: faerie don't like "Thank you". We all understand that.
Also, no one is disregarding the fact that faerie lived in our homes before they were ours- but we are here on this earth together, despite who lived here first or not. "My house is your house"

*sigh* I'm not saying this is a case of "I was here first"... All I'm saying is I don't understand why they would leave their home like that over clothes left lying around... And most fae really only tend to get insulted by the actual words "thank you", I mean, they certianly seem to appreciate other offerings of thanks if the stories are true.

I understand that. The reason why a fae would leave from the most unnecessarily petty circumstance is because that is what they do.
Yes, I know they are insulted by a verbalized "thank you"
Offerings, or leavings, don't always mean thank you, they can be forms bribery or something to say here "just leave me be".

Joke? *head tilt*

I was kidding about the whole 'they probably mistook my random articles of clothing as me freeing them' thing.

Not to take away from Poppy's brownie encounter, but I have a question about past encounters of my own.

I often see a dark grey shadows moving along on top of shelves or in corners of rooms near windows. I know it's not a spirit, as I've had many encounters with ghosts and spirits, but I often wonder if it's a fae of some sort.

Any insight as to what or who they may be?

No clue as to what that might be, but I acually saw something... similar sounding to what you described.

I was in my basement and I saw a grey shape in the shape of a man, or something human-like in appearance. Everything was proportioned, except for the arms, which were very thin. It was 3-4 feet in height, and it was gone the moment I looked directly at it.

Striking any chords, Kyre?

@ Stacy: As soon as I read your post, it instantaneously reminded of the 'Messengers' from the novels Fallen and Torment by Lauren Kate. Perhaphs that could be a possibility of what the shadows are. Wishful thinking?
Or, it could just be a shadow person?

@ Riley: That sounds really interesting...
