"Oh.. Oh, no. Hey, there's no need to give up just yet." Kupe gave a flick of his ears back at her change of mood, lightly putting a paw on top of hers reassuringly. "I can stick around as long as I'm needed, Cecilia. I don't have anywhere to go." He then turned his head to look around them, trying to find some sign of possible prey that might be near... Nothing, really.

Biting at his bottom lip at this sad conclusion, he then let out an unexpected chuckle, a funny thought coming to him. "I could stay with you all week, if it comes to that!" Kupe shook his head, smiling. No, it wouldn't come to that, he'd make sure of it. "We'll end up getting something much sooner than that... Hey, maybe we should find a river? There's always something to go after around one. Most creatures do need water." Maybe this would be easier for the two of them?

Cecilia frowned. "True, but I don't know where on would be. We could follow the mountains," she murmered, trailing off. While it was likely they would find a river eventually that way, what with ice water run-off and the like, the mountain range was huge! It would take them awhile to get even around one end of it!

She looked over at Kupe. "Oh my, either way it seems will take awhile. You wouldn't happen to have passed a water source around here recently, have you?"

Hmm. Had he seen any rivers or anything of the sort when he had been traveling? There was that larger pond he had passed by, but the edges of the water looked like they were starting to freeze over. It was worth a shot! "I did, I did. There was a larger sized pond not far from here, we could try there, if you would like." If it came to it, they could fish. And fish were bound to be there, even under all that ice, right? His mother, Kaia, had sort of spoken of colder places in her travels, but hadn't really gone into depth with any of it.

There had to be something to hunt around it, even it it was frozen over a little!

"Great," Cecilia said, tail wagging. "Lead the way!" Cecilia figured she should probably try walking about level with Kupe, and a little to the side. It was hard to predict the best places to position people so they wouldn't be victims of her clumsy nature. She was willing to bet she'd trip on something at least once on the way to wherever they were heading!

"That sounds good to me!" Kupe replied, giving a nod of his head as he turned to get his bearings. Let's see.. Hm. Which direction had he come from? He gave a shift of his silver-gray eyes left. That way? Another quick switch, looking to the right. Or maybe over the-.. Ah hah! That was it, with all the recent paw prints in the snow. "The pond is this way, I'm sure." He stated with a momentary gesture of his paw before starting off.

"So do you have family, over in Starborn with you? Or maybe outside of the tribe?" Kupe asked, looking over to Cecilia as they traveled. It felt so strange, being farther away from someone than usual! Wanting to fix this, the male inched closer as they walked, putting himself at her side eventually. So what if she stumbled or bumped into him? It was just a small thing, nothing to worry about. It was better to get to know your company, right? Giving a smile, he added, "I have two brothers and a younger sister, myself."

Cecilia could feel the warmth of Kupe walking so closely next to her, and blushed a bit. And, of course, stumbled over a small patch of pine needles into him. Thankfully it was just a small trip, and she was still on her feet. She muttered apologies as she quickly regained her balance.

"Ah, this is sorta of the border. The tribe is on the other side of the moutain. I do have a sister. She's my twin, but red instead of blue. She doesn't live with me though." Cecilia smiled a little sheepishly. "Starborn's morals aren't really her thing. She wouldn't get along."

"That's alright. As long as you're alright, it's fine." Kupe mumbled after she had picked herself back up, glad to see she hadn't hurt herself or anything. But why were her cheeks reddening? Cecilia wasn't coming down with something, was she? She wasn't goi-... Oh. He did finally come to realize why she was blushing, giving a blink in his surprise. The male couldn't help but to start blushing himself, seeing how close he had moved towards her while walking.. but didn't move away.

Softly, he cleared his throat somewhat awkwardly, looking over at her. Ah, so she did have family. A sister, huh? Her a twin, no less! How.. how very different. It was nice. "Really? Neat. I have a younger sister who's out and about, a younger brother traveling around, and another brother who.. Er.."

Where on earth was Chop these days?

"It sounds like you have a big family," Cecilia said, smiling softly. "It was only myself and my sister. I have heard that her mate is part of a large family though. I've never met any of them though. What's it like, growing up with a lot of siblings?"

He did have a rather big family, now that he took some time to think about it. There was his mother, father, and three siblings. Then his Uncle Shukaku and his cousins over in Bamboo, and who knew how far out that line went! Ugh, his head hurt just thinking of the possibilities. Giving a slight shake of his head and looking over at Cecilia, he tilted his head to the side. "I don't suppose I would really know about it too well, growing up with them. When we were younger, mom would take me and my brother with her to travel around wherever she pleased. Our younger brother and sister stuck around with dad over in his tribe, and all of us would meet up there every week or two. It was kind of strange, but it worked."

He let out a soft chuckle before wagging his tail slowly. "What about you and your sister?"

"Cissy and I grew up together," Cecilia responded. "We were all each other had from the moment we hatched from our BCRs. I never found out what happened to our parents, if they just left us or lost us or.....they died. Cissy doesn't really care what the answer is, so I was seaching on my own."

Cecilia didn't mention that her sister not caring was a lie; Cicely would want to make sure her tough-girl image was preserved. She knew her twin still kept an eye out for any foxes that might resemble them, but in their world going by colors and patterns was difficult. They had simple patterns and only one color, so the prospect of them ever locating their parents was a slim one.

The search had almost killed Cecilia herself. That was why she'd originally been climbing the mountains around Starborn, wondering if there were more foxes on the other side of that impossible mountain range.

Kupe let a frown go over his lips as he listened to Cecilia explain. So she'd never met her parents? She was just on her own with Cicely all this time? That must have been.. difficult. Really difficult. "Ah, well.. I'm sorry." ..Wait, wait, wait! That was bad of him, they didn't know if her parents were actually dead or not! "B-but I'm sure if they're still out there you'll find them." He quickly wiped the frown off his face and replaced it with a small smile. "I know you'll find them." Moving to gently bump at her hip with his own as they walked, the male gave a wag of his tail.

"You just.. seem like that kind of fox. Able to accomplish things if you put your mind to it, you know?" He suggested, thinking to himself for a moment before looking back over at her with a reassuring smile.

Cecilia smiled at Kupe. "Thanks, it's nice to hear someone say that." She hummed lightly under her breath for a moment, thinking. "I probably won't be the one to find them though, not unless they wander into this area, since I joined a tribe."

She paused for another moment of thought. The two trotted through patches of light that shone through the trees on the mountain, and the light almost seemed to make Cecilia's pattern ripple with their own light.

"I dunno that I'd say I accomplish everything," she finally added, laughing a little. "It's just that luck seems to favor me, but in odd ways. Like I'd probably have a better chance at finding my parents if I devoted my energy to something else." She grinned, and chuckled a bit more. "It's always that things come to me when I stop looking for them."

"Oh?.. Hm." Kupe himself smiled, taking a little delight in being able to make her smile. And, surprising to him, this vixen was fun to be around. This was nice.

And it... it, uh, probably helped that his companion was better looking than most of the other females he had seen. No, wait. What was that word dad used to describe mother sometimes? No, not "pretty". And it wasn't "lovely" either. "Beautiful"? That.. yes, that sounded right. Kupe gave her a quick look over, turning his attention back to listening to her right afterward, inwardly smiling to himself.

Yes. He thought Cecilia was beautiful.

Finally, Kupe noticed the slight change in the area around them. "Oh." The trees had grown a little less abundant, the area a bit more open. And then there was the pond! And it wasn't frozen over. Wonderful! Now they had the choice of going fishing, if some sort of other prey didn't show up to grab a drink.

"Well! We're here, I suppose. And it seems like luck decided to favor you today, the water hasn't frozen over." He gave a chuckle, motioning at their destination with a slight jerk of his head. Had time really passed by that quickly? Was it... because the two of them had been chatting the entire time?.. Huh. That was different.

Cecilia laughed. "My lucks shines through again!"

She trotted over to the water's edge and cautiously lowered her head to drink. She got in about one swallow before she jerked her head upward. "Brr, it's cold," she said, shivering a bit as the water traveled down her throat and then chuckling a little.

"I should warn you, I'm not very good at fishing," Cecilia said, looking down at the chilly water with a dubious expression. Most fish found her exceedingly simple to dodge, though they did love trying to come in and nibble at her shiney coat. Normally she was willing to give anything a shot, but she always felt it fair to warn others first of her less than stellar physical prowess.

Kupe gave a little laugh, nodding in agreement. "It did indeed!"

Following after her to the water's edge, he leaned down to take a drink, only to stop to let out another laugh - softer this time - at Cecilia's reaction. "Cold, huh?" Giving a glance upward at her then looking back down at the water, he took a swallow, followed by another quick one, before pulling back up. Much colder than he was used to. "H-hah. Yeah, it is."

"That's alright. I'm sure we'll do okay." A shiver running down his spine, Kupe gave a wag of his tail. "It tends to be kind of easier with others around to help out," He said, smiling somewhat distractedly as he eyed the water for any signs of movement. "Like.. my mom and I. When I was younger, she'd swipe fish out of the water and I'd pin 'em down, you know, to make sure it didn't end up escaping back into the water. It's trickier when you're on your own." Momentarily looking away from the water, he grinned. "Fortunately, there's two of us."
