LPS, you can get whatever DLC there is out now, but when RB3 comes out, any new DLC after the release won't work with 1 or 2. O:

Get Rock Band 3. Once it hits the market songs after it only work for rock band 3.
Also get it for 360. Getting the Wii or PS3 version would honestly be a waste of money as the 360 version gets everything first.... or on occasions at all.

T ^T It was just as good, I don't see why people have problems with it. The only thing annoying is the whole friend code bullshit. Least I don't haffta pay for DLC.

We've decided we are definitely not getting 3. Even if the newer DLC isn't backwards compatible, that doesn't change the fact that we'll get a much better deal if we buy 1 or 2. Walking out of the store with a four-player rhythm game and a bigger playlist right away is much smarter than walking out of the store with a four-player rhythm game and the knowledge that we'll end up spending even more money on a bigger playlist that we could have already had by now if we'd settled for a slightly inferior game with the same mechanics.

Get 2. It has better songs than one does. Or at least, get whichever one has the most songs all four of you like, as the game gets boring with the same songs over and over, and DLC is like, two dollars a song.

Plus there are 2 Jimi Hendrix albums and 1 chili pepper album dlc out already.
