You see what happens when you act rashly? Aila thought disapprovingly. Revenant wasn't anything of a mind reader, of course, but Aila's musings surely reached her as she reeled back from the force of the Shadow Claw. She managed to avoid the Pikachu as he sailed towards her.
"Another Psybeam against the Ivysaur," she said, hoping to give Skye enough time to recover her bearings. Revenant grudgingly complied.

Cal sighed, grateful that the Skye and Revenant didn't have some horrible collision. "Skye!" The mouse pokemon laid on the ground for a what seemed like decades, but in actuality were a few moment. He got up shakily, panting and gritting his sharp little teeth. "Skye, use Sweet Kiss!" Maybe confusing them would work. It could help his teammate.
Tybalt was readying another attack on the ghost pokemon when Skye came rushing toward him from his blind side. In an instant, Skye planted his attack on the Feraligatr, confusing him. This didn't stop him, Tybalt unleashed a chilling Ice Fang intended for the little ghost.
Blossom was hit full on by the Psybeam doing little to dodge it. She was thrown back, slinging on the ground a bit before standing, shaking her head. She looked on, trying to make sense of her condition. She tried for another Vine Whip, but was bombarded by her own vines. It was plain to see that she was confused.

Revenant, her attention focused on the Ivysaur, had little time to react to the oncoming Ice Fang and bore the brunt of the attack. She reeled, shaking herself to refocus. She had only suffered a few blows, but the little ghost wasn't as accustomed to battle as the other participants and her wounds wore on her significantly. Aila picked up on the body language immediately, "Try Pain Split."
The Misdreavus considered the order. She had never used Pain Split before, but it certainly seemed a fine tactic to employ in such a situation. Approving, she threw herself at Tybalt, the goal of collision to pilfer some of the Feraligatrs health as her own.

Tybalt learched forward as the HP of himself and the Misdrevus was split evenly between the two. A low snarl emitted from his half open jaws. He lounged forward, confusion not stopping him, and aimed his Crunch attack at Revenant.
Blossom, dizzy in her stupor, unleashed a sharp Razor Leaf at the duo.
Cal had seen enough. Not just from her own pokemon getting beat up, but for what she could suggest the girl. "Aila," she scooted over to her battle partner. "This battle is going pretty well." She smiled a bit, letting Skye act on instinct. His Thunderwave missing his target, but hit by the Razor leaf. "Might I make a suggestion?" It was the only thing she could feel comfortable with saying. She didn't want to give the girl false hope. "What I'm seeing is that Revenant just doesn't trust you. She takes a second to consider your orders." She thought for a moment. "I think that the bonding needs a little work." Probably something that the girl had heard already.

"Revenant, up." She would be able to dodge both of the attacks that way, but Revenant was more interested in showing off her grace, instead opting to duck low to the floor with a half spin that twirled her skirt-like body. Prettiness could do nothing to prevent the lower-flying leaves of Blossom's attack from striking her, though, and she reeled backwards.
Aila listened to Cal's words carefully, brow slightly furrowed. "How does one build trust with a pokemon?" she wondered aloud. How did one build trust with anyone, for that matter? It was one of those concepts that, like 'friend,' was easily defined, but the meaning itself was elusive.

"Well," She thought for a moment, but distracted by angry growls in the background. She straightened up, "I don't think we need to battle anymore." Right now, t was just a distraction. "Blossom, Tybalt, Skye. Take a break." Skye immediately fell to the grown in exhaustion, her other pokemon looked around in confusion. She took their pokeballs out, one labeled with a foam seal, the other, a floral seal. She ran a finger over them a smirked; old habits die hard. She recalled the two in a faded red glow.
"As for strengthening your trust," she walked over to Skye, picking him up and handing him a Sitris berry, which he held onto before starting to eat, "ou must spend time with them in a setting they're comfortable with." She smiled, "It took me a while with this one, but as you battle and go on adventures, you'll become closer." She laughed, "But I probably sound like some fool." She rubbed the back of her head, shyly.

Revenant staggered away from the other three as the match was called off, emitting a sound somewhat akin to hissing. That had been pointless. Pointless and embarrassing.
"No, I appreciate your input," Aila countered Cal's shy assumption. She moved towards the Misdreavus, drawing a potion from her pocket and applying it liberally. The ghost turned her head with a 'hmph,' but a dim light of appreciation glinted in her eyes. "Perhaps if we return to Ambergris..." Revenant perked up at mention of the quiet town. It had been ages since she had seen her home! Were they really going to go? She dared not get her hopes too high.

A smile grew on Cal's face. "I bet she doesn't like that I stopped the battle." I guess this completes my payback. She snickered to herself, eyeing the ghost pokemon.
"I'm glad that you your going to take my advice." She smiled, the first time giving advice, it was received well. "Is that we're you caught her?" Either tat or something significant happened there, judging by Revenant's reaction. "That's a great idea. It would be hard to do the same with this one." She stroked the Pikachu's ear in a loving manner, "I got him on the base, and he hatched here as well." Ah!Memories! But she didn't want to bore the girl as she reminisced.

Revenant turned from Cal with an indignant huff. She wasn't happy about the battle in the first place, let alone that it had been suddenly ceased.
"Yes, I met her there," she affirmed with a nod. The Misdreavus had been Aila's first catch, and while she was somewhat proud of the fact, the ghost type simply didn't feel the same towards her trainer. She inclined her head with a slight curiosity. "I wasn't aware that they distribute eggs here." Thinking back, Aila had never even seen a pokemon egg before. Heard and read about them, certainly. Maybe even seen a documentary or two. Passingly she wondered if they were something rare.

"I didn't have a pokemon, so the hefted this guy on me." Though she didn't know he would grow up to torment her every waking moment. "But I digress." This was about Aila. "You should go and see if you can grow more as pokemon and trainer." She put a wise finger to her chin, laughing a bit.

"Yes, ma'am," she replied with a subdued laugh and an accompanying salute. "Thank you for your assistance." She cast a glance in the direction her Misdreavus, the ghost staring back at her expectantly. "I appreciate it, truly." A ghost type like Revenant had all kinds of potential, but they could only begin to explore her power if she would respond more positively to her trainer's prompts. They at least had a process now, though, and for that Aila was immensely grateful.

"O-oh it was nothing really...." She shrugged and crack a small smile. She was thoroughly embarrassed. There was no need for the formalities, but she was glad that Aila would use her information. Cal glanced at the clock, shaking her head. "I really must be going..." Her voice trailed off. "Maybe we'll do this again?" She laughed, "Doesn't that sound fun?" She teased the ghost a bit.
Skye had climbed up to her shoulder, watching the trainer and her pokemon. He continued to watch them as Cal gathered her things and departed. Before she exited, she gave the two a small wave and headed off to take care of some business.
