Igneous finally found the track field. She had wandered around for quite a while before a gnome helpfully pointed her in the right direction. She suspected he may have been a relative of Pickfoot's but since she was late she didn't take the time to chat and find out. She slowed as she approached the group of students. She really didn't know any of the gathered crowd though she had seen them in classes and around the dorms. At least she was wearing the correct outfit! Maybe that would count for something! There were two students who seemed to be in charge. She held out her form to the boi, since she kinda towered over the smaller monster with the thermos. "I'm not fast, but I can throw things - I am stronger than I look!" she said quickly. "Sorry about the holes in the paper. Chip was helping me fill it out" she finished, waving a hand at the pigeon perched on one wing Student Name: Igneous Specie/Race: monster/gargoyle Emblem: Year: 1 Trying Out For: Pumpkin Toss, Javelin Toss Any Special Needs? They were all so neat in their special uniforms that Calder was left watching the fabric more than the actual track members until he heard the stammering and HAD to look up at Chuppi just because it was cute. They were getting ready, and he wanted to be on the top of his game to be able to show everyone how well he could do - and to get a spiffy uniform!
So, warming up time. Claping his hands together, he turned about to the rather peculiar thing called a 'track' and passed it in favor of the grass. The 'track' he noticed was a rather poor path, red, and rather bizarre. What sort of dirt made it? Crinkling his nose, he stood on the grass and stretched a little, before he went for trotting about the grass alongside the track. He noticed that no one else was changing shape to their advantage, and he wondered if it would be wrong to change. Pausing, he turned back around to approach the group of track team members for a moment.
"What are the rules on changing? I run better when I look like a horse? Fours legs are better than one after all." He held out his hands straight, pointing down, as if to serve as a visual of what a horse may look like. "Can you make uniforms that big?" He would want a uniform if he could, or did he have to run as is?

Well, guess not. Davinica's head tilted curiously as Temes took her flier, answering every question except the one the wolf had actually asked. Their coach looked a little..queasy, non? Maybe it was just her that thought so. But hey, no big deal - clearly she wasn't being kicked off the field, so she must be fine to try out.
At the chupacabra's go-ahead, Davi lifted long arms over her head in a back-bending stretch: frowning as she glanced at the other ghouls and boas to see if any of them wanted a warm-up buddy. Stretching was so much more fun in groups. Seeing no immediate takers, the Garou launched into a lunge where she stood, claws gouging furrows in the field. For the most part, she was paying attention to everyone else as she limbered up, which was why her ears twitched curiously in Calder's direction when he mentioned shape-changing. Could she run in wolf form?
Black lips edged into a smirk. If they could, competition wouldn't know what hit 'em!

"Um. . . we....what I have read so far about the rules is that you can change your forms during the events, because it's a natural part of you and you're allowed to be yourself. The only thing I've seen is you can't use your FEAR, if that makes sense? I don't know why anyone would want to, but they call it cheating and um...I guess even here in Amityville cheating isn't always accepted?"
That was a good thing, right? Chuppi liked it when people played fair and she liked it when everyone could run and have fun.
"Also for uniforms. . . um....we can see about getting you sets for your different forms. I think if we win events the teachers will give us more money? The gnomes called it 'sponsoring', or at least that one gnome that I cornered did."
And by 'cornered' she meant 'asked really politely after getting something for him since he asked for it'. When another student arrived and handed in her paper Chuppi looked it over for a moment before handing it again to Tybalt, watching as he went over applications. So far so good, right, though what was with that single look? She supposed they'd need to talk about it.
"Um...uf...we are all done warming up. . . um....well. . . .show me what you can do? I see what you are all trying out for, but I'd like to see what exactly you can do just in case as well. I have a stopwatch for timing those who can run, and anyone who thinks they can out-jump me is more than welcome to try."
(( OKAY, ROLL A d20.
IN YOUR POST, JUST SHOW OFF by doing whatever it is you've signed up for. DO IT! Chuppi is waiting! ))

Igneous walked over to where a stack of pointed sticks was leaned up against a rail. She grabbed on and was a little surprised at how heavy it felt in her hand. "I will try this first, if it's ok. Never actually thrown one before though!" She held it up on her shoulder, looked for a clear spot and heaved it away. The spear made a lazy arc before landing, sliding along the ground instead of sticking. "look out! Spear on the move!" she yelled belatedly.

There was a track field?! Red stared in shock as she approached the field, taking it in. It... well, in all honesty it wasn't any wonder why the gym teacher hadn't noticed it before, given the state it was in. Come to think of it, was it even used when she was a student? No – when she was a student, her gym teacher was an oddball avian that turned the roof of the gym into an impromptu field. Playing batball up there sucked considering how many times the non-flying students had to climb off the gyms roof, hunt the ball down, throw it back up, and climb up only to find that another ball went over the edge and guess who got to go get it.She needed to do that to her students one day, actually. Nevertheless, the gym teacher set up her lounge chair near Chuppi and Belladonna before sitting down to watch the try-outs. “You kids did a pretty good job of fixing up the field,” she complimented, “Though you might want to double-check some of the equipment – even I don't recognize some of the stuff you found. There's no telling how old it is!”

After having warmed up with a slight jog around the track, Valentino had found his rhythm. He timed the swing of his arms to be in sync with his legs while he breathed in and out every 3 seconds, exhaling with every third step. It wasn't the fastest pace he had set, but with the track's current condition, it would be prudent to carefully watch every step.
'One...
Two...
Three...'
He started counting in his head. It would help him keep a steady pace, even if he wasn't going to run a full marathon today, he liked to keep his pace as precise as possible.

Lucien looked around, hitting his feet into the ground as he thought for a moment. What did he sign up to do again? His eyes looked around the track curiously. He noticed... what seemed to be a teacher, pull up and take a seat on the side lines and a rather stoned looking creature trying to impale others, and an undead creature... running? He certainly wasn't here for either of those. What was he here for again? He had to look else where! He gazed around the track field... another undead who seemed to be jumping... ahhhhhhhh!
That was it. He had signed up for jumping! Where was he supposed to do it though? Lucien squeezed his brows together in thought, eyes gazing around for a suitable spot. Running he could just run around, but where was he supposed to jump at! There seemed to be a suitable place to jump though a little away from Temes. He jumped a little in his step as he walked over to the way away from the male running and the rock throwing pointy things.
He stared at the place in front of him, took a few steps back and ran forward. After his feet left the ground with his jump, a smile could be found lighting up Lucien's face before quickly disappearing as he landed on the ground again in the distance. A good practice jump indeed. Lucien was already excited to jump again.

Davi nodded as Temes finished speaking, finishing off her last stretch with a quick stamping of paws. Trying out, trying out... Well, it looked like they had plenty of jumpers already. The wolf's lower lips poked out just a little, frowning as she noticed the mass amounts of hippity-hopping on the field. Not to mention their lil' coach - though the urge to rise to her challenge was overwhelming, Davinica realized with a smirk that would never have offered if she didn't think she could win. Sure, wolves can jump: but not as high as the zombie over there had been.
Instead, she jogged out to the hurdles. Jackin' things creaked on their hinges as she looked them over, but they seemed sturdy enough and (she assumed) were set as far apart as they needed to be. Backing up a bit, the garou's tail twitched as she took a good run - and, leap! - over the first one.

Igneous wistfully watched the others running and jumping. No way she could do any of that! She was just glad that her spear toss had missed everyone - it did give some of them a chance to show off their agility! Now to try pumpkin toss. She was a little more confident on this one. She carefully chose a pumpkin from the pile and gave it a heave. It sailed gracefully through the air before landing with a wonderful SPLAT!

While changing was an option, he decided against it and went to the track. Everyone seemed to be doing some sort of jumping, but while he had jumped over logs and ditches, he felt running was his best skill. He ran all the time, and the uneven grass was just like the typical terrain he ran back at home. Tree roots, stumps, and sudden holes in the ground were common, and he usually avoided these easily or at least recovered quickly if he should stumble. While he was making for the grass, he noticed another student going around the odd track that circles the grassy area. He seemed set in a pace, and looking about, he noticed other students working at specific areas. Was this where they ran?
Moving onto the hard sponge of a track, testing it several times with his feet, he moved in a lane and looked about. It didn't seem all that natural, but he tried to imagine the discolored red as odd moss, and he felt a little more at home. Flicking his tail out, he broke into a run, and didn't bother with counting. Run. Run. Run. Faster. Faster. Faster. He was pretending he was going to run towards a river, but as there was a large puddle off to the side, he sprinted there instead. Maybe he could get that counting zombie to fall in it. That would be Great!
Unfortunately, the boy had moved past the puddle, leaving Calder to make a hard break and stop before it to kneel down and look into it.
Yyyeeeaaah. It was probably best if the puddle problem was taken care of if he was running around.

Well, it was now or never. Chuppi took a deep breath and looked at everyone around her, a smile on her face and her nerves nearly knocking her down.
"I think I've decided who will be on the team."
TRACK TRY-OUTS ARE NOW CLOSED!
Everyone who's applied has made the team (thanks in part to Temes being unable to roll a dice high and everyone making their rolls - and partly because she won't refuse anyone.
Look forward to a practice coming up soon! )
