Tackeron
My friends call me Tack.

User Image

Tackeron chuckled at the Fearie when he said it was unnecessary and crossed his arms across his chest.

"I suppose so, alright the challenge then. Oh and that is easy, obviously defeating your boredom is something you are not good at so that is the challenge we shall overcome. I think drop from oooh...three hundred feet should do the trick. Naturally there are some rules to be followed, no flight no magic of any kind for you. You are going to completely rely on my to catch you before you have your oh so friendly reunion with the ground. What do you say worth a shot isn't it? Oh and as a heads up very few can beat out their own boredom. I would be astounded if you could."

Tackeron got off the wall and made his way over to the door and waited for Leon to give him a positive response.

"So how bout it you coming or are you staying?"

Macideus
No one ever calls him Micky D's to his face.

Macideus nodded in response to her question about the pun but decided it was time to start reading her mind when she said that she had no intention of sticking around. He blocked both attacks with his armored vambraces and deliberately stepped out of her way before chasing after her. Since he knew she was going to run for it he wasn't caught off guard by the attempt and so quickly caught up to her since the distance was small to begin with. The armor was problematic but that was part of why he was out side in the first place. Every sunday he would walk the grounds with his armor on as a kind of physical training to stay in shape. He ran alongside Saya.

"Well Ms. Tennyson now that you are running we may as well throw in some excersizes."

As they ran past a tree Macideus snapped off a sizable branch and did caught up with Saya again. The exit was still a ways off but he still didn't have any time to lose.

"Evasion practice Miss Tennyson! Roll!"

He yelled as he swung the stick at the back of her head.

((Its only light armor. Basically what you see in the pic.))

Now that was an intriguing offer. Naturally, like any fearie - light or dark - Leon had been born with the instinctive and inherited ability to take flight. It was not a sensation unfamiliar to him, although he had grown bored of it at a young age. Unlike other students who may never truly tire of the fascinating ability, he found that it was more useful than enjoyable. That was just the way Leon was. Besides, it was hard to picture the, as Tackeron had put it, melancholy fellow yelling out in delight as he soared through the air. It would be an act completely out of character, would destroy his self-image, and call for an entire re-writing of his personality and everything that made him tick. Yet, at the same time, he had never experienced a free fall from any height, let alone what this new acquaintance of his suggested. If anything it would be a learning experience. How would he react to it? How should he react to it? Would it be more exhilarating or horrifying? What made thrill-seekers jump at such opportunities?

Yes, that's right. Leon was turning something that made most students jump for joy into a purely academic experience. And that was how he enjoyed things. Perhaps it was a little nerdy, but more than that it was just straight out strange. This young man wasn't the type to try killing him, so it was pretty safe bet, all things considered. There was the physics behind it to consider, however. if Tackeron sopped his fall abruptly, his body would remain in motion and the results would be just as ugly if he hit the ground in the first place.
"You'll have to catch me far before I hit the ground and keep slowing the fall down, gradually, in order not to kill me." Leon voiced his concerns, making sure the young man was aware of this. This wasn't something you took risks with, after all. "I'll need to be caught at least around one hundred and fifty feet to the ground, to be safe." He didn't bother doing extensive math but made a safe guess instead. Half the distance free falling, with gravity ripping his body closer and closer to the ground, and half the time to slow himself to a halt without seriously damaging his body or risking death. Sounded good enough.

Leon approached the doors, his mind having been made up soon after the offer was proposed.
"It will be an interesting experience. I'll be sure to learn something from it." He declared, strengthening his resolve by voicing this out loud. He was back outside again soon enough, looking up at the sky he'd be dropping through. There was not one sign of fear, anxiety, or apprehension. Leon really was odd sometimes.

It was frustrating to see both attacks blocks, but this alone wasn't enough to cause Saya to hesitate. She shot past the professor, recognizing with further agitation that he had purposely stepped aside to allow her to do so without an obstacle. It took her a moment to figure out how he had read her movements so easily. Saya was new to the academy and newer still to learning how to properly conduct herself and her movements in any sort of confrontation, but the girl was annoyingly quick. Most of her actions were decided upon last minute, no planning to speak of, so it made it even more difficult to anticipate her movements. Yet Macideus had no trouble with predicting everything Saya did. Something clicked in her head and with a start she remembered being told that this man was one of the trickiest teachers to deal with due to one very crucial and very annoying ability: he could read minds.

"You're cheating!" Saya glanced over at the professor, her voice angry. It was a childish accusation but she sure it was true. The idea of someone sneaking into her thoughts sparked her temper immediately, a dangerous thing in one so unaccustomed to controlling her magic. "Get out of my head!" She growled out the order, ducking at the sight of a branch. Exercise? Evasion practice? The girl thought, avoiding the duck-and-roll maneuver only to defy Macideus before she sped up, the wind carrying her feet at a quicker pace. I really, REALLY hate this guy! Saya shot a glare back at the professor, having to remind herself that he probably heard this. Not that it looked like she was too concerned with that by itself. The fact of the matter was, her thoughts were her own and none of his business, whether or not she was trying to escape.

Then an image of a weak, sickly girl rose up in her mind, reaching out toward her when she was still so far away. Her rage hardened and was replaced by absolute resolve.

The girl came skidding to a stop suddenly, whipping around. She purposely laid out several plans of action in her head, different options to take now that she was in this position. Saya turned, determined to change directions and bolt for the line of trees, then her fan swung out without warning - through thoughts or gestures - and a powerful gust of wind exploded from it. The attack was unrefined and clumsy, but that didn't mean it lacked force. The girl thought out another attack in which she'd would ran forward and unleash a series of blows before doing the opposite and falling back, getting back on her course to freedom, running as fast as ever.

There was no time to look back and see if her ploy had worked. Saya had hoped to confused Macideus, who had resorted to mind-reading, with her frustratingly diverse thought process. She was the type of person who was always thinking up different things at one time, sometimes unrelated to each other, so this took little effort. Besides, acting on instinct last second wasn't too hard either. All she had to do was trust her own instincts first.
Come on, why can't my legs move faster?! Saya thought desperately. It hadn't taken her long to realize that the professors, and even some students, here were not easily dealt with. She didn't allow herself to believe against hope that Macideus had given up or that her quick thinking and the attack that followed stalled him for long, if at all.

Tackeron took his shirt off and waited for Leon to step outside. The moment he did he shifted practically leaping out of his pants and picked up the boy and carried him high up, then higher still. After a fair bit of rising up into the air they reached three hundred feet and without warning Tackeron dropped him. He dove making sure that Leon was in range of him, he however had no intention of grabbing him at only one fifty feet. He decided to let Leon fall an extra fifty feet before deciding to grab hold of him and take a spiral patter to the ground which allowed for more distance to be covered with minimal displacement effectively allowing him to land on the ground safely. Tackeron in his salamander form was a smallish dragon just a little taller then Leon although not nearly as large as his mother had been when they arrived.

"So how was it?"

Tackeron asked his patient. As they once again stood in front of the Edifice."

Macideus

Macideus got a blast of images, a kind of crude mental jamming. Still he was a bit baffled and decided to disregard his telepathy until she chose to clear her head. He decided to keep his distance until her next clear coarse of action was made, he was daunted by the blast of wind but was up and running again shortly after it finished. She was close to the end of his range now but her thoughts were easy enough to predict by her actions yet another mad dash to the exit he again started to close the distance between them. With the distance closing he decided it was time to end this little chase. Macideus broke the stick in two and once he caught up with her he would preform a feint to make it look as though he were striking at the back of his head, heck he would even call out the attack and tell her to role again, assuming that worked her face would meet an unannounced stick on the way to the ground. That would be his actual attack.

"Miss Tennyson, roll!"

He called out once he caught up to her."

Leon felt the wind colliding into them from all sides, as if it were fighting they initial ascent. He gazed down at the ground, watching as the building formerly behind them and towering high over their heads drifted under his feet. It had been a long time since he had been in the sky, and never before had Leon attempted to go so high. There was never any point to it. Tackeron wasn't by no means slow, so the upward path did not last very long. The faeries was anticipating the fall, making a mental note that using any of his own magics would ruin the experiment. No matter what instinct commanded him, he could not resort to a flight of his own or to spells to guarantee his safety, if there even were any. Higher and higher they went until gravity claimed Leon, tearing him violently back down as Tackeron released him. Everything felt like the fight; the air resisted their ascent, a gravity cried out for justice when Leon had nothing to hold him up in the air any longer.

And that signaled the fall. Leon's body moved of it's own accord, so his back was to the ground and his face was turned up toward the blue expanse of sky. He heard the wind buzzing in his airs once again, his hair and clothes disturbed during the way up and now on the way back down. Without Tackeron's grip, it almost felt as if he was moving much faster in the opposite direction than the first one. It was a curious feeling. Leon's body tried to tell him something was wrong and his cool and collected thoughts tried to counter this. Still, his heart rate had been increasing and perspiration began. Biologically, the young man was experiencing fear. Emotionally he felt unable to match this diagnosis, face more calculating than terrified. Down, down, down he went, forgetting to come up with a way to measure how far he had fallen. No matter. If Tackeron was too late, Leon would just have to resort to his own natural abilities.

Which, in the end, turned out to be unnecessary. The half-salamander caught him, as promised, and made sure enough distance was covered with a theatrical maneuver in the sky. Leon felt himself coming to a slow and gradual halt. It had felt safer with Tackeron than without him, Leon noted as his feet touched the ground again, something within in sighing in relief at this comfort. To fix his hair, the faeries only had to run his had through it, shaking away the mess the experiment made of it.

"It was as I expected it would be." Leon answered matter-of-factly, unperturbed. It was a little boring, but that's Leon for you. He examined the transformed appearance of the student more closely than he bothered to in the air. "It is an unnatural feeling, when you're not in control." He explained a bit, recalling his body's cried for help. It had even taken the boy a moment to catch his breathe, no matter how calm he appeared. "Though I didn't think I would feel quite so cool." He admitted, glancing at the goosebumps on his arms by pulling up the white sleeve somewhat. "Have you ever attempted such a thing?" Leon looked back to Tackeron, wondering if he ever allowed himself to fall before his wings were put back into good use.

Tackeron smiled at Leon, it was subtle but the fact that Leon had enjoyed himself was there. The goosebumps confirmed this fact. Tackeron had left his clothing inside and so didn't dare to shift just yet. One thing he hadn't expected was the question if he had ever done the same thing. he had to think on that for a bit before answering Leon's question.

"Well, I did once. I was still very young and I hadn't even begun to learn to fly but I figured I could do it being stupid as I was at the time. My home was by the seaside on a high precipice, since mom liked to live in high places, I decided that with my parents in the backyard I would try to fly off the edge and circle the roof since I was fed up with being told I was too young to learn. Needless to say it was a quick transference from flight to fall, if mom hadn't been there to leap over the edge after me I wouldn't be here now to throw you three hundred feet in the air. Other then that I have tried many times but it isn't quite the same when your using your own wings. So naturally I tried diving from higher and higher places and pulling out lower and lower to the ground, my current limit is four hundred feet at the top and fifty feet from the ground unburdened. Any higher then four hunrded and the air gets too thin for me, heck four hundred is usually pushing it. Still I gotta tell you, it just isn't the same even withe me getting closer to the ground. Oh, I suppose I should let you know since we are safe on the ground now that I let you drop and extra fifty feet. Since you were expecting to be picked up at half-way I figured that if I did that it wouldn't be nearly as interesting. I was worried you might notice and use your powers to bail out, but it all went according to plan."

He shot Leon a mischievous grin, or at least as best a grin as he could pull in his current form, which actually just made him look silly.

Harmony___Saya___Tennyson
____[[ Name's Saya. And don't you dare call me Minnie. ]]

User Image

Saya had been right not to get too far ahead of herself. As expected, none of her ideas held Macideus back for long. At least she now knew that mental jamming was possible, as long as she didn't keep focused on one thing too long and was careful not to consdier her plan of action beforehand. That was useful information, at the very least. Unlike a student, powerful gusts of wind weren't enough to keep a professor thrown back for long. She couldn't explain how she knew without looking, but something in Saya told her the man was catching up, and fast, Without more training, the half-sylph could not access the full potential of her speed either. Every time she had managed to in the past it had been an act of pure luck or a fluke, driven by emotion or purely accidental. For the time being, the girl was not fortunate enough to unlock that unnatural burst of speed. Her options had been fight or flee, and flee wasn't working. Fight it was, then.

Macideus must have had a similar idea. Saya looked to the professor that wasted no time catching up with her, noticing the stick he had used for evasion practiced earlier was broken in half.
Now why would he do that? There was a small chance her attack earlier had done that bit of damage, but then it would be more likely that Macideus would only be holding one half, not both. Without ever having suspected the feint, Saya distrusted her teacher enough to defy his orders yet again. Before the stick could catch the back of her hand, the girl used took one last step forward and jumped into the air, wind gathering at her feet and propelling her upward, an unintentionally used aide. Arching her body back, the girl extended her arms out toward the ground after flying back through the air. Her palms made contact with the grass she and fell enough for her elbows to bend before her hands provided enough froze with a push to flip her back once more, placing her upright this time. She slid back some in the grass, almost falling in a fit of clumsiness. The only problem now was that while avoiding the attack, Saya had backtracked and now Macideus was in front of her rather than behind or to the side. Crap.

Most would have called it a day at this point, but now Saya. Her fan still in her hand, she removed the second one and move one foot back again, putting herself in a defensive position. The professor's armor would be able to keep him protected from her weapons, but the sharpened steel would tear right through the branches. Taking Macideus on was extremely foolish, even for Saya. But she was desperate, a simple fact that showed through in her expression. "I won't hold back, sir." The girl warned him, an ineffective bluff with her still catching breathing heavily from all the sprinting she had just done. One false move and she was sure he would find an opening and that would be it. But she had to try. Saya jumped forward, one fan outstretched and swinging in a horizontal path, her grip strong and the slice smooth. Ironically, it was one of the few skills she had allowed Macideus to teach her. She followed this by spinning her body around and lashing out with the second fan, stumbling slightly in the middle so she faltered, falling slightly toward the ground so for a brief moment, she was unable to defend herself. For all her guts, the girl was still inexperienced.

Macideus watched as Saya launched herself into the air and backwards. He stood steady in a fighting pose when she leaped at him, the first attack was smooth, practically perfect in his eyes still a beginning move though. He stepped into the attack dropping himself low while raising one of his arms to interrupt and redirect the attack away from him. Her attack slid smoothly over his vambraced arm but harmlessly above him. The second attack was showing and sloppy in his opinion. He blocked her with his other arm as she lashed out with the second fan coming off the spin, and as she stumbled he took this opportunity to strike. The attack was a quick and simple close range skill, he sharply rose bringing his knee up striking as hard as he could for her stomach. He, unlike other teacher, had no qualms about injuring students in his class. He wanted to prepare them for the worst possible situations and you can't do that by being gentle. Which was also part of why he took up teaching music since it allowed him to be nicer to his students, by unfortunate coincidence for Ms. Tennyson she had wound up with him for both classes, something he thoroughly enjoyed reminding her of as he had done when this escape had started.

As usual, professors were extra annoying. It was hard to say how far Saya honestly expected to get. After a certain point she seemed to be thriving on pure stubborn will and a refusal to give up. This was not enough to go up against Macideus and walk away with any sort of sense of accomplishment. He was too much for her. Even a flawless attack was easily avoided by somehow who's experience and level of skill was so far above her own. Although it is dangerous to admit, Saya may have fared better if she HAD lost control. There was so much magic in that human body of hers that it was unnerving to most of the staff. Something half-human should not wield that sort of power. It was rare, to say the least. Her sylph genes only complicated matters even more so. It made her extra unpredictable, hereditary skills announcing themselves at random moments only to disappear later. Now was not one of those times where they conveniently made their mark, as if to act as an instinctive defense mechanism. Instead, Saya was at the mercy of the stronger opponent, and that just happened to be Macideus today. A good thing, too, for him and the rest of the staff. If a student had ventured to stop her, she may have been far more successful in catching him or her off guard.

The teen let out a combination of a gasp and a groan of pain, grimacing and faltering in her movements yet again. Only different was that this time she wasn't just clumsy. She had received quite the blow to her gut and it left her feeling like all the wind had been knocked out of it. For someone so dependent on wind, that was even more unpleasant than usual, as if it was unnatural as well as painful. Saya's body fell relatively limb, the upper half of it draped over Macideus' knee until he chose to move it or move her. The girl was struggling to catch her breathe, the grimace still left on her face. There was probably a nice bit of words she wanted to share with the professor right then, but she no longer had the capability to do so. Instead she was left staring at the grass, waiting for it to slid back into focus instead of the blurred mess she was seeing immediately after the attack.

". . .hate. . .'ou. . ." A defiant and considerably weakened voice called out to Macideus, the phrase incomplete but understandable enough. Saya picked up her head a bit, looking out toward the main road. She had gotten pretty close today, but it was clear that her teacher could have stopped her earlier if he had wanted to. She had been toyed with. The distance had been closed, but the goal was still far away. It was a bit disheartening.

Macideus
No one ever calls him Micky D's to his face.

Macideus lifted Saya in his arms and carried her back to the dorm and spoke to her almost as if speaking to a muse.

"Ah, miss Tennyson you may hate me now, but when the fearful people cry out 'Witch, witch! We must burn the witch!' You and your fans will be skilled enough to fend off the angry mobs. Or perhaps when you are famous and rich and the people cry out 'Encore, encore! Play us an encore!' your talents with the violin will be so fine that it could move even an emotionless robot. In either case you will look back on this day and say 'Boy am I glad Professor Macideus gave me double detention for two weeks for trying to escape from Farvardin like it was some kind of prison.' and you will say it with such pride as to bring a thankful tear to your eye. So when we get back you will do the following. First you will write lines for me. Those lines will be as follows, 'Study and Practice of weaponry fundamentals: an unarmed opponent is not without weapons.' and I suppose writing it oohh...one hundred-fifty-six times should get the message through. On top of that you will serve detention for an hour for each of my classes. So one hour in music and one in weapon studies, every day for two weeks. It is harsh, and I will be too, that is because I believe that this tendency to try to escape everyday has not been delt with severely enough. So, on that note I will inform you that I have sent in an application to be assigned as your mentor."

Macideus was sure that would certainly rattle her and decided that once they got back he would make sure to stay nearby in case she decided to mix things up and attempt a second escape.

____[[ Name's Saya. And don't you dare call me Minnie. ]]

"Put me down." The girl growled weakly. Even having the wind knocked out of her, she was still as stubborn and defiant as ever. Saya had reached up, tugging at the professor's cheek in order to irritate him. (Although admittedly, it may have just been to see how funny he looked with one of his cheeks stretched out to its limit.) He had really gotten her with that one blow, that much was certain. She felt terribly weak after that, the little pride she actually had in regards to her battle skills wounded beyond repair. All he had done was shove his knee into her stomach and she ended up temporarily immobilized. It was completely unfair, in her opinion. Saya only wanted to return home to the one member of her family who needed and probably the only one that actually bothered to miss her. So she had swung at him. He could have been nice and just let her be. It wasn't like she was going to set tornadoes loose on defenseless human society just for kicks or carry out any other delinquent misdeeds with her magic. True, it was a part of her already, but she had never asked for it, had never even been spared a bit of truth until a few months ago when it came to it either.

"I will never look back on anything you've done to me with gratitude, I can assure you." Saya snapped, but in a sour mood with her failed escape attempt and embarrassing defeat. Her face started to fall, pinching his cheek - and rather hard - as the reality of his words sunk in. Two weeks. Double detention. That's two hours a day. She realized hopelessly, beginning to fidget in the professor's arms as her hand fell from his face as her strength returned. No way she was going to be stuck with him during all that time. That was torture, not punishment. "This is some kind of a prison." The girl grumbled aloud without really intending to, not helping her case at her. If it seemed like Saya treated Farvardin Aegle Academy like a giant cell it was only because she truly felt that it was one, a glamorous dungeon filled with as many people as necessary to keep her rooted in place for as long as possible. She wondered what crime she had been punished with, falling into the criminal's character. Perhaps her betrayal of human nature by possessing the abilities she had was some sort of unwritten sin, and that's what landed her here. Or maybe she had stolen extra dessert after everyone else had gone to be one too many times. It was a mystery. All the young lady knew was she wanted out, and desperately.

The girl really couldn't help but roll her eyes as Macideus continued.
"A tear of joy at having finally escaped you, maybe." She made another comment, followed by a groan. "Why one-hundred-fifty-six? That's too random a number!" Not the protest he might have been expecting, but oh well. Before he explained the way detentions would be timed and counted, Saya had figured it out with his "double" hint. Hearing confirmation that her suspicions had been right on was not comforting, of course. He was really planning on letting her have it, that message had been received loud and clear, but nothing could have prepared Saya for the next bit of news, which struck like a blow from the universe. It rattled her indeed.

"No! Nonononono!" The girl was shaking her head violently, unwilling to accept his decision, despite the fact that his use of past tense might the deed had already been done. "That isn't fair!" She whined. "Mentor's are supposed to be students!" That much even she knew. But it hadn't occurred to her that an exception might be made, although not permanent, if she kept acting up as she did. The thought that a student may even be assigned to her on top of that was a horrifying possibility as well. Two watchful eyes keeping every one of her movements monitored. It would only be too difficult to escape then. "They may reject it, right?" The question had been asked out loud, but Saya seemed to be merely hanging onto hope rather than begging Macideus for any sort of reassurance. He was quickly becoming enemy number one. "I object to the idea entirely. I refuse to allow someone like you to be my mentor." Saya exclaimed, wishing against hope that her objections meant anything to the school officials, headmistress included. If he became her mentor, he'd be moving into that empty bedroom. She'd never get away from him. Only one class and spare free time during the day could act as a reprieve, and that was simply not enough.

Where's your gavel? Your jury? // What's my offense this time? // You're not a judge but if you're gonna judge me
Well, sentence me toanother life

Well, you treat me just like another stranger // Well, it's nice to meet you, sir // I guess I'll go, I best be on my way out

This is the BEST THING that could've happened // Any longer and I wouldn't have made it
It's not a war, no, it's not a rapture // I'm just a person but you can't take it

Macideus

Macideus seemed to actually consider Saya's words regarding the number before finally speaking again.

"On the contrary Miss Tennyson. One hundred-fifty-six is a very specific number. It is divisible by half of the first ten, single digit numbers. As a warning, if it is me who catches you a second time I will pick a number that is divisible by all but two of the first ten of the single digit numbers. Knowing the way numbers are Miss Tennyson I am sure you realize there will be more then just one zero in there. If I catch you a third time after this well...I will just have to get creative won't I?"

Macideus had a strange way of threatening students. He said it like it was a giant joke but the tone also carried the threat that he wouldn't hesitate to follow through with it. None the less he doubted she would expect what he had to say next.

"However I am not all punishment and lessons as you seem to think Miss Tennyson. If you are capable of defeating while going all out in a planned match then I will talk to the Headmistress about allowing you to leave early. Naturally she will likely say no, but none the less trying to get out legitimately is better then lines any day. After all I don't really look forward to them either, I am the one having to give up my free time to watch over you. Still if you can convince me and your other teachers that you are ready for the outside world then you are likely to be allowed to leave, as it stands you are no where near ready to even defend yourself, let alone establish a life. Now as for the mentor thing I said I applied, naturally as you so astutely pointed out mentors are supposed to be students and my application is highly unorthodox, so to make sure you got someone who could provide the required surveillance I also spoke to one of your classmates about it. He seemed more then happy, heck even eager, to help our plight. You recall Mister McCallen don't you?"

Macideus said the name with a sly smile. If Tackeron was chosen over him that would actually prove beneficial since that would effectively mean she would be watched during all her classes and doubly so during the study and practice of weaponry. Although in truth Macideus was a little skeptical. Tackeron could sometimes be such a loose cannon that he was just as likely to let her go as to try and stop her from running away. But he wasn't about to let Saya see this on his face.

Saya did not look at all pleased with his counter argument regarding the number of lines as would be escaped to write. She had hoping that he would agree, admit to a slip of the tongue even, and bump it down at least six lines to one-hundred-fifty. This was not the case. He had come up with a logical retort, strengthening her already severe sense of dislike toward his person. Macideus was even kind enough to tact on some nice little warnings/threats to his explanation. Instead of being smart and keeping her mouth shut, the girl responded back in a way that would only encourage more punishment and a close eye on her movements, not the reverse she should have been aiming for. "Then I will take better care to ensure that you do not catch me." This was only slightly worrisome to someone who would be keeping close tabs on the girl and only because she was a person completely capable of setting out elaborate plans and waiting, even though she was not the most patient, for just the right moment to follow through with them. The second Macideus put his guard down, he could count on her bolting off yet again.

The professor offered her an interesting sort of attempt at compromise, but Saya wasn't willing to be caught by it.
"I am fully capable of establishing a life for myself. I some from a well off family and have received a worthwhile education from private tutors before arriving here. Furthermore, I do not need to defend myself in the outside world. Faeries and vampires don't come bounding out of the trees to attack in regular society and I have no intention of drawing the sort of attention to myself to make a witch-hunt necessary." Saya pointed out, really seeing no advantage to her attending this school. There were too many important things to attend to back at home. "The only thing you're forcing me to remain here accomplishes is that my mother is finally rid of me and the sin I embody in her eyes." The girl didn't mention the biggest reason she wanted - needed - to return home for at all costs: a sick little girl very close to Saya's heart.

Still. . .If Macideus was right and it offered her a shot at leaving this place, then it was worth pursing. She would keep up with her classes then, in the hopes of gaining the strength necessary to prove herself. Hopefully she would be gone long before she reached that goal, but it was something to channel her spare energy into in the time not spent hatching escape plans and carrying them out. But the idea of a mentor still stood in the way of her goals, regardless.
"I rather not be babysat by someone recommended by you either." The young lady grumbled, searching her memory banks for a McCallen. It sounded familiar, but it was hard to pin down the person in question without a face to go off of. She recalled a classmate by the name of Tackeron who may have had that last name. It must be him then. He doesn't seem like the mentor type. Maybe that won't be so bad." Then she realized something semi-important. "Wait, I can't be expected to live with an unrelated man." Saya absolutely detested the majority of society's rules and regulations, thus her informal hairdo and foreign attire, but this was one general rule she understood. It was improper for pretty good reason. But Osamu Hall was not dictated by gender separation rules. It was hard to be picky, after all, with students like Saya rampaging about. "Right?" This time she was searching for confirmation.
