Darn-nit all. Vance watched with a bit of a pout as Bug scared away a couple of butterflies... that were coming his way?! Sweet! Vance stayed partly below the waterline, waiting until they were floating nearby. After some time had passed, the boy stuck himself out enough to use his tongue to catch one of them, bringing it into his mouth.
Success!

Vance stood up, munching on the bug and heading toward Bug. "These're tasty!" He commented with his mouthful. "What else should we do here?" He asked as he regarded the pond and all the wild life around them.

It seemed that the adventure making would be up to Vance! The boy stayed in the waist deep water, crossing his arms and thinking about what to do next. Being covered in pond water and getting his shoes wet didn't seem to faze him yet.

Hey! Swimming! Bug had to like that, right? The boy pushed through the water, an idea popping into his head. Why wasn't she in the water anyway? Why didn't she come in with him?
Not only that.. she seemed so close to the edge.. and wasn't paying attention.

The evil wheels in Vance's head began to turn. The boy rushed forward and grabbed Bug's wrist, pulling her toward him into the water.

Hooray! She was in the water! Now for the laughing to happen!

....No?

She looked mad! Why?! Vance squeaked as water was splashed at him, raising his arms in defense. Oh, maybe this was a game? Vance looked over the yellow girl, his arms still raised. Was she mad? Yes? No? "Don't you like the water? It's not that cold, is it?" Don't be mad, Bug! Vance just wanted to have some fun, and was unsure of his friend's mood now.
Oh wait, maybe embarrassed? Vance decided the only way to be sure, was to splash back in response. Vance cupped his hands and sent a wave of water at Bug by slicing his hands across the water in her direction.

Oh, good. She wasn't mad. She was even smiling so nicely! Vance smiled back and giggled. Boy, it was sure nice to be spending time with a happy B--- "Waah!" Vance stumbled backward as a wave of water rushed him. He tumbled into the water, having become completely soaked from head to toe now. He resurfaced, wiping water and leaves from his face.

Bug's laughter made him laugh too, but not nearly long enough to distract him. It was war now.

Vance splashed continuously at Bug, with wave after wave of pond water being pushed at the winged girl.

Vance stopped after the truce had been made, though he flt he had won. He smirked and rested his hands on his hips. "Kaaay~." No more water war. For now. "That was fun!"

But now what? Bug seemed to be recovering, so Vance started to make his way through the water to reach the shore. He climbed out and sat by the edge, breathing a sigh. How long had they been at that? He was kind of hungry..
"Hey, Bug? Wanna have lunch?" Vance asked, dragging his bag toward himself. He dug through the many assortment of things he had in the bag and fished out a ham sandwich. "We can share."

Vance winced, squeezing his eyes shut as a cascade of water droplets pelted him from Bug's wings. Oh well, he was already wet anyway. He gave half of the sandwich to Bug, taking a bite of his own after she received it.
Bugs were nice, but real food was much more fulfilling. Even if it was half a sandwich.

Vance lightly kicked at the water as he finished his food, licking his lips and dusting off his hands. "Aaah! Fueled up!" He stated suddenly, jumping to his feet.
"Let's explore!" Vance said with a smile, waiting for Bug to get up and follow him.

"Hey, Bug? Do you have lots of friends?" Bug looked like the travelling type, so maybe she knew lots of people?

Oh, that's right! He remembered he saw Bug on that Boat thing with Tynne. He had forgotten he knew her. And she new a few other people that he knew as well. "Yeah! I love Tynee! She's my best friend ever!" Vance said delighted as he walked with Bug hand in hand. "She's what I imagine a mom or older sister would be like." He giggled happily, nodding.

Vance considered talking about Levi, but he didn't want to leak any sensitive information. He was kind of like a spy! Vance smirked proudly, swinging their hands a bit. "I know lots of people too. It's cause I always wander around without Dad. He tells me not to talk to strangers, but if I didn't, then how would I meet new friends?" So silly.

"I know, right? What's with him anyway?" He said enthusiastically. He was glad Bug agreed. It just didn't make any sense. "I ask him why, and he says cause a stranger might be a weirdo and try and take me away. That's just dumb. Who would do that, anyway?" Honestly, it was like his dad just didn't want him to have any fun at all..

Oh!

"I got a cat!" Vance said still swinging their hands and heading wherever it was Bug was leading them. "I named it Boxer. Dad calls him a 'fleabag'. But he's just so awesome!"
