"Well then I guess you're closing early." the soldier frustratingly replied. "Come to think of it, the owner of this place is a non-human, too!" The soldier sifted through some papers. "Let's see, Loch... Loch... yep, here it is. Not registered. None of you here are registered! You should have gotten that done right away, it's your own fault for waiting." The soldier tucked the papers under one arm and pulled out some rope. "Don't make us have to do this the hard way."

Watch members laughed at the conversation they were having as they passed down the street. They stopped however, when one of them spotted the blue cat laguz working. Nobody was monitoring him, which meant that laguz had not gotten himself registered yet.

The one watchman yanked his head towards Sunil, his chin urging the others to come over with him. "Hey, laguz..." he said to alert the cat. "You know you have to get registered, right...? What if a guard passes by and sees you? You could get into trouble. Come on, we'll get you to the castle. It's official business, so your boss can't fire you. We'll even try to help hurry the paperwork along."

"Eh?" A very tired soldier turned around to see a laguz speaking to him. He had been doing tedious work all day and was exhausted. Dealing with more laguz wasn't really what he wanted to do, but he had to do his job. The other soldiers were occupied with other citizens, too. They had left the tired one in charge of manning the gates.

He looked the laguz over, trying to figure out why it looked so... constipated, or something. He also wondered what type of laguz the guy was. The soldier figured it was a cat, since the guy was kind of skinny. But then he yawned and shrugged his thoughts away. "Yeah, yeah... uh, follow me. I'll take you to the castle." After another yawn, the soldier turned and waved for the laguz to follow him. In his exhaustion, the soldier didn't even realize that he was leaving the gate unmanned.

Ganon stood up at last, wandering over and taking a step in between the guards and his mate. "I really don't know what you think rope is going to do." It was a valid question-- for incarcerating something Ganon's size, chains were really more in order. He loomed over the soldiers like a... well, like a nine-foot-tall scaly monster that knows how to loom. When he really stood up straight, raising himself to full height on his talons, his head brushed the ceiling.

"I really do think that if we've gone this long unregistered, then it can wait until the end of our shift, once we've cleared out our daytime crowd. Wouldn't you say?" The idea of a uniform irked him-- less because it would surely be a tight fit and more because a bard in a uniform is like a priest in a pirate crew. Yeah, it works out alright, but there's a basic wrongness to it that people just can't shake, and that's bad for business.

"So I'm gonna ask you all one time to stop harassing my mate and scamper on out of here. I'm sure you have better things to do than interrupt a small business in the middle of its work day." He smiled, perhaps a bit too widely and a bit too sharply, but his tone was earnestly friendly, if strained. He was struggling to keep his personal opinions about the new administration separate from his opinions about soldiers following orders, but the lax in business and the scorn of a city that saw the writing on the wall, and felt it was best not to protest had been grating on his nerves for weeks.

C'mon! All in! Lucks gotta change someday!

A hooded figure watched as Rajin led the guard away. The cat had done well in sticking to the plan, despite all the fuss he always put up. Maybe if he was a good kitty, Joshua would catch him a fish. Probably not though... he was still a little sore over the whole attempted rape thing. But this is a Joshua post and not a Jaren post, making it serious bizness. (Looks like that fifth wall didn't really help much.) Therefore, there will be no more jokes.

Joshua stepped out of the shroud of shadows he'd been observing from and casually walked up to the gate. He signaled the others who had decided to attempt a rescue to come out of their hiding places. He made sure to shield his face with his hood in case anyone was watching the gate from a window. If someone recognized him, it could cause... problems later on.

Once everyone had arrived at the gates, Joshua looked to the only two people he could order around: a female mercenary pair. He'd heard a few good things about a pink haired ranger from his homeland ever since he arrived in Eyris. It was a little earlier than expected, but he'd gone to look her up. (and a little more force couldn't hurt) Liking what he saw (in more ways than one,) he'd hired her, under the condition her timid friend could come as well. He would have hired Blythe to,o but he was going to go with the larger group in case healing was needed.

"No casualties. Non-lethal wounds only. They may only be doing their jobs, but so are we. They should know better anyway." He said to the two he'd hired, though loud enough to be heard by everyone. With that said, he turned and walked into the expansive yard of Eyris Castle.

Crossing the yard proved to be easy oddly enough, though this made him uneasy. He couldn't explain why. It was the kind of uneasiness he had when he held a good hand, but his opposition was still betting high. It was the same feeling he had at Renvall. Joshua suddenly felt like the odds were stacked against them, but it was too late to fold now. They had reached the servant's entrance that was nearest to the dungeon. He'd just have to hold his breath. He yanked open the door, hood falling back to reveal that he was stubbornly wearing his hat. (... -_-)

He really hoped this wasn't a.....

Sunil's ears twitched when he heard a voice call out to him. His gaze shifted over to a group of Watch members that were approaching him. Seems like they wanted him to go register. The cat pondered for a moment.

"I'm a little busy and the shop is really shorthanded, but I'll tell you what. If you help me and the other employees with inventory, we'll be able to finish much faster. And the faster we finish, the faster I can go get registered and stuff. You guys seems like a strong bunch. With your help, we can get this done in less than an hour. But if I'm taken away now, there's no way we'll be finished by the end of the day, nya. And with this, you're at least monitoring me until we actually go get registered." the cat replied. "I'll let the manage know you're helping."

He then led the group over to the shop (regardless of whether they wanted to or not. At least if they helped this cat work the shop, it was guaranteed he'd register...maybe.) before setting the heavy box down. The shop appeared empty, but there was a voice coming from behind the counter in the back room.

"Hey, manager!" the Laguz called out. A muscular man leaned out from the door, small glasses on his stern face. A head poked out from behind one of the shelves, dark hair flowing around her feminine features. Sunil jabbed a thumb towards the Watch. "I'm getting these guys to help out. One or two of them should be enough, right?" he asked.

Whether the Watch members liked it or not, now two of them were roped in and forced to help out with inventory, since it seemed the cat wasn't going to budge and get registered until the work was done.

Valter

...a trap.

"So you came after all." Valter chuckled, giving an indiscreet hand motion as he spoke. Suddenly, the rescue party found their only escape cut off by guards. He was almost surprised that the trap had actually worked. What was far more surprising, however, was the figure standing in the open doorway. He wasn't very good at remembering faces, but this was one the Wyvern Knight could never forget. He stared at the man in the doorway, eyes full of the purest malice.

"What fortune has brought us together again... Prince," the Commander spat, lacing his words with all the venom they could hold. "You bested me, I burned your home to the ground and slaughtered your helpless mother. You took everything from me, and I took everything from you. And now we meet once more, under the very same circumstances. You have come to save your beloved leader, and I am here to stop you. We have been given another chance to end this feud once and for all. This time, however, you will be the one that finds himself hanging from the end of a bloody blade!"

The intensity of Valter's speech grew and grew until he was practically screaming. He had seldom lost his temper in the past, but at that moment, he was absolutely berserk. That man had robbed everything from him- his standing, his power, his woman, and most importantly, his life. Yes, Valter's life in Magvel had ended at the very moment that Swordmaster's blade had met the General's exposed chest, and he would never forget it.

Oh, he was going to enjoy this fight. His entire life had led up to this moment, and had no intention of failing.

User ImageWell, it seemed that the soldier had taken his word. Of course, from what the tiger saw, it looked like that soldier didn't get enough sleep. So far, the plan was working well.

As Rajin followed the guard, he listened carefully behind him. He could hear the movements and the walking behind him, signaling him that it was the rescue team. Good, it seemed that they had passed the first phrase. Now to move on to the second phrase.

The guard and the tiger entered the castle and continued walking to reach their destination. As they continued walking in the empty hall of the second floor, Rajin spoke. "Hey soldier."

Before the soldier could speak when turning his head around, Rajin clenched his hand into a fist and gave the soldier a mighty punch, causing an one knock-out to the soldier. Although it wasn't enough for the tiger to let out his frustration, at least it was enough to let out a small portion of his anger. HA! Now the tiger didn't need to worry about signing up those damn papers to register.

With the soldier being out cold, it was time to create a bigger diversion. If they were to succeed this rescue mission, he had to keep these bastards distracted. The more he could create the diversion, the better to keep the soldiers away from the dungeon for the others to rescue. But what to make a distraction?

Suddenly, the tiger's ears perked when he heard talking outside of the castle. Looking out the window and below, he saw a group of soldiers having a conversation. Whatever the conversation these soldiers were talking about, the tiger paid no attention. What he saw was an idea that he needed to do.

"Bingo." Rajin smirked deviously as he opened the window and stood on the ledge. Having to feel the rush of adrenaline and the exciting burst to let out his frustration and anger, the tiger jumped off the second story. With a sudden flash above the guards' heads, the tiger let out a might roar before crashing down upon them and let the terror of chaos throughout the castle. Surely, having a tiger laguz running loose in the castle and creating havoc would be enough to cause a distraction. Right?

It was too bad the tiger didn't know that the plan had failed miserably for the rescue team.

User ImageIsadora continued walking down the corridor, wondering anxiously of how the meeting would go. Did it work well? Were the two sides working compromising? Would the resistance cease the rebellion and help Learania fight off against Sentria and Mordache? The more time had passed, the more worry the Dame Knight was.

She hoped that everything would go peacefully and well. Otherwise, she would have another breakdown if it was to continue.

Before the paladin could think any further, she suddenly heard a loud roar, followed by screams and shouts.

"What's happening?" Isadora muttered as she ran toward the nearest window. When she opened the window and looked down to see what was going, she could see the soldiers running around, carrying their weapons and shouting out orders. What was going on? Were they being attacked?

"You there!" Isadora shouted at one of the soldiers. When one of the guards heard her and looked up, Isadora questioned him. "What is going on here?!"

"It's that bloody sub-human! It's causing trouble in the castle!"

Isadora arched her eyebrow. A laguz causing trouble in the castle? Now why would a laguz cause trouble? She knew quite well that the laguz were upset about the law. After all, it took the Dame Knight hours just to calm Skrimir down. And she had seen laguz coming into the castle, looking upset and anger as they came to register. But why causing trouble right now when the laguz should have caused it earlier?... Was there something that she couldn't figure out? Whatever it was, they would have to deal with it later after they could stop that laguz.

"Round up the men and stop that laguz! We don't want to cause any more trouble to King James!" Isadora ordered.

"Yes, ma'am!"

Isadora turned around and marched down the corridor. That Valter! What was he doing at this moment? He should be there, giving orders to the guards and trying to stop that laguz. Where was that blasted commander of the Guards?

The paladin was upset when she discovered that Rogvald had made Valter as the Guard commander without confirming her. In addition, she was also surprised to find out that Vaida was out of her prison and became the Guard captain by quitting the guild. Really? It was bad enough that she had to work with that slime git in order to protect the guild. But to have Rogvald manipulating the system and without informing her had gotten on her nerves. She hoped that Vaida heard the news about this. Surely, Vaida wouldn't let a laguz causing trouble in the castle. At least she was able to control the guards better than Valter when it came to dealing situation.

Curious of where that blasted commander was, Isadora spotted a different guard and asked him. The guard informed her that Valter was heading toward the dungeon with few guards behind him. This made the paladin curious more.

Why would Valter want to go to the dungeon with few guards? It couldn't be moving Rath to another location. His execution was not ready till tomorrow morning. Was Rogvald planning something behind her back again?

Angry at the old man's ideal, she ordered the guard to help the others catch the laguz and marched out, heading toward the destination where Valter was at. Whatever Rogvald was planning, she hoped that Valter would answer her questions. After all, the Dame Knight would want to have a word with Moonstone after he quit the guild too to work with Rogvald.

Kiote Deliven
The Calm Ranger

Kiote did not like being separated from Grave, whom Kiote considered his back up at all times. Grave was a deadly close range fighter being a laguz, much more so than Kiote was. Kiote was a ranger, but his skill with sword was beat by his skill with a bow for obvious reasons. Kiote had never been a soldier, he had been a hunter. Most hunters didn't worry about using a blade, but in this case Kiote really wished he'd practiced a bit more with his swords. Either way, wishful thinking didn't change the fact that he was leaning against a wall staring off into space while Rajin, a laguz, started his movement into the castle to get registered. Registered wasn't the term that Kiote would use though, to be a distraction seemed like a much better choice. It made no difference in the end though.

Kiote caught Joshua's motion for those following him to come, and with a faint sigh, Kiote pushed away from the wall. Unlike many members of the resistance, Kiote was lucky in that besides having run with Grave through the streets earlier the guards had never seen him nor had reason to watch him. None of that would matter shortly though, the guards would have plenty of reason to be wary of him like the others. Kiote absentmindedly checked the blade at his left hip, Caviel. He knew he would end up using that blade much more than the one on his right hip. Luckily, Caviel had been made to last. Kiote was happy to have remembered that knowledge in his mind, of all the worthless things to remember. At least he knew he could trust the sword to take a beating.

Kiote glanced up as Joshua made mention to two mercenaries he had hired that they should not kill. That, Kiote, doubted was going to really matter if this was a trap. It would probably turn into the resistance fighting for their lives. Kiote had followed Joshua silently as he looked from side to side warily. He could tell, something was up. The air was too still for his liking and as a ranger that had been important in hunting prey. This was not likely to end well.

Then came the truth of the matter, as soon as Joshua opened the door. Kiote turned without pause, facing away from the door as he pulled his bow, Glade, from his shoulder with an arrow to the string. This was not good. They were cut off from running, not that it had really been a idea in the first place, but they also could not advance. Honestly, Kiote didn't like the playing field for this. "Suppose this was to be expected." Kiote mumbled, wondering what trouble Grave was probably in if this was a trap. Kiote shook his head lightly, pulling the bow taunt as he prepared to fire should the guard advance.

A typical day... sitting at the kitchen table with Elhaym... the sniper was trying to shove food down Tristai's throat, complaining that she needed to eat more. Of course, the food that she was trying to make her eat was impossibly sweet, so it just wasn't working out. She grimaced as she swallowed, and actually more than happily dashed to the door when a knock was heard.

"..." She stood in the doorway, arms crossed across her chest.

"I want to hire you," the Prince/King of Jehenna exclaimed.

"...To do what?"

"Rescue the guild captain! We're going now, I need you!"

"...Now as in, immediately? Right now?"

Elly had popped up behind her, peeking around her back.

"Uh... yes?"

"...20,000." Tristai laid it out nice and cold. Joshua's eyes went wide.

"20,000?! ...How about I flip this co-"

"25,000."

"...15,000?"

"30,000."

"...17,000?"

"35,000."

"Okay, fine, 20,000."

"Right, 20,000 now. 20,000 later. You owe me 40,000 for the job."

She actually smiled, tilting her head and sticking her gloved hand out. Elly turned back into the house to hide her laughter as well as gather their weapons. Joshua stood flabbergasted, before he helplessly emptied his pockets into the ranger's waiting hand.

___

So there they were. Although she'd tried in vain to keep Elly out of the thing entirely, the sniper was stuck to her side like glue. And now the genius king had led them straight into a trap, although she could tell as soon as they had waltzed right in through the gates. BUT her job was not to criticize the intelligence of her employer...

She nudged Elly behind her, so that they had a back-to-back formation. They worked out quite well as a team anyway- ranged support and front line melee. Of course Tristai was unmounted for this particular endeavor- you couldn't just freakin' ride a horse into a castle. She hadn't drawn her sword yet, but her hand was on the hilt and ready for a cross draw.

Tristai

Elhaym Grants

PostPosted: Tue Sep 28, 2010 9:51 am

Nothing seemed out of the ordinary that morning..aside from the sniper herself trying to get Tristai to eat a simple breakfast before she decided to run off agian. Toast and Jam, but even then the ranger complained about being too sweet. She frowned, Elly didn't even put that much sugar in jam this time. Maybe she should make Marmalade instead, its bitter, maybe Tristai will actually eat it instead of Blueberry or Strawberry...

Just as she was about to have her eat another, Tristai suddenly jumped up and ran to the door when someone knocked. Who could that be? She heard voiced and followed it to the door. Oh, Jehanna's king. What did he want? Elhaym stared blankly at the two as they haggled about hiring prices. Job for Tristai hm? She listened carefully as the prices bounced back and forth. Tristai's offer remained high while King Joshua's remained as low as possible.

Finally, they came to an agreement...or rather..Tristai came to an agreement. 20,000 now, and then 20,000 later. The sniper couldn't help but giggle at what she just witnessed. Slowly, she moved away from the door to clean up the kitchen as well as gather their things.

Even though Tristai had told Elly to stay at home, the sniper didn't want to. It was boring, and she wanted to help someway. Its not like she could simply leave Tristai to do this task on her own. Besides, it was usually the two of them working together and it worked out that way.

However, their employer had stumbled onto a trap. Elhaym stood behind as Tristai shielded over her. Her left hand gripped her bow, Emilia's grace as she watched the guard's movement. Should they even make the first move, Elly would make sure to strike them down as quickly as possible.

((a bit on the blah side))

...Injured with pain and sadness, the you that cannot be healed
Shoulder the burden of the past that cannot be erased; don't throw away your
will to live...

So they were going to rescue Rath. The apprehension was practically settled over her skin as she followed Joshua, sword strapped to her back. She had taken a cloak before they left the manor, and the heavy brown fabric hid both the telltale red scarf around her neck as well as the broadsword she had on her person. Blossom lowered the hood just slightly to see out from under the cowl--the cloak had been made for someone larger than her, and thus it dragged the ground a bit--and watched the guard being lead away by Rajin. One obstacle down, at least.

Blossom nodded once. The sword might have been pretty deadly, but the flat sides were more than large enough that she could use it to simply knock people around, rather than slicing at them.

She stuck close to Joshua and the others, cloak drawn tightly around her. She technically shouldn't even be in Eyris right now, what with technically having to be sent to jail, but... that was something she couldn't focus on right now. This was more important. Got to save the Captain.

Except that didn't seem possible now.

Blossom's eyes widened from under her hood, and she instantly drew closer to the group. Her hands fumbled for her sword behind her back, loosening the straps. She drew the broadsword in front of her, gripping it tightly in both hands. There were guards behind them, and though it was dark, she could easily assume that they were circling around them. And of course, there was the unmounted Wyvern Lord before them. Even if he hadn't had that look of pure insanity on his face, she would have still been scared. Dude was creepy.

Her eyes never left Valter. The fear would have been visible on her form had the cloak not completely obscured it, but the tension was palpable in the air. This was a fight they had no chances of talking their way out of.

I'm sorry, Rath. Blossom gritted her teeth, feeling her knees shake as anger began to rise up. We might not be able to now, but we are going to save you. I don't abandon people I care about. Never.

Lance couldn't quite comprehend why he signed up on this mission. Sure, it was the guild captain they were talking about. But as far as Lance knew, he had nothing to do with that person at all. He had hardly spoken to the Rath he had met, and this one, like all other members of FEF, didn't remember him either. Being from some alternate reality sucked.

But he was also certain if he had ever been put in the same predicament, there wouldn't be a brotherhood of saviors forming to get him out of danger. He couldn't imagine anyone wanting to put their lives on the line for him. Either way, it didn't matter. He'd make the guild captain owe him a favor, especially since Lance was, as far as he was concerned, the only one with the ability and experience to pick a lock as complex as what they would've put on Rath's jaildoor. Also, as long as the plan worked, they probably wouldn't even meet any resistance...stealth was amongst Lance's strengths, after all.

Of course, their leader would just have to stick to the plan himself, and not do anything...

"Joshua! Wait, NO!"

Before Lance could stop him, the door had already swung open, and they were staring at a crowd of some people, and got surrounded by quite the amount of guards.

"...so much for stealth..." Lance sighed. He would've told Joshua to listen and check the door first just so that this wouldn't happen. Too late now.

He snickered at the mad man's little talk, before he burst out laughing uncontrollably. "Snort...quite the imaginative speech you thought up there, little man. You're saying you're gonna fight this guy here, and win? Pfft, gimme a break. Judging by your armor, I'd say you're a wyvern knight, eh? Everyone knows that wyvern knights are wusses who just need a d**k enlargement, which is why they ride humongous beasts so that they feel bigger than they are. But your wyvern isn't here now, and you think you're on equal footing with Joshy here? Big words for a nancy who can only act tough when he's surrounded by dozens of men as a shield. Piss off." Lance spoke sharply back to the long-haired man, as he did the 'wanker' sign with his hand, holding his hand like an 'o' and moving it up and down.

Lance was in a pretty sour mood today. He wanted to get this mission over with and get out. He promised Khalid to play chess with him later.

"Err. wha- I-" The watchman blinked as the cat somehow volunteered him to help out. The others laughed, but soon shared the same fate as their commanding officer ordered them to stay. It seemed like the laguz was getting extra help.

Well, the work got done and just in the nick of time. The sun was setting and it was going to be dark soon. The watchmen had stayed and helped out the laguz all that time, so there was no way that they were going to let him off on getting registered. "Alright now, let's go. We need to make sure you go tonight or else a guard might hassle you in the morning."

Whether the laguz liked it or not, now he was roped in to coming to the castle, since it seemed the watchmen weren't going to budge and leave until the laguz agreed. (yeah, that's right, used against you)

So they reached the castle and went inside, only to find that guards were chasing a tiger around! "What in the- Hey, soldier, what's going on?!" the leader asked to a random guard.

"The shifter punched out a guard and went crazy, attacking others! Help us get him!" The soldier than ran off towards the tiger.

The watch members sighed. "Really..? I mean, I know the laguz don't want to get registered, but... this is only making things worse..." The one speaking shook his head before turning to Sunil, whose name he had learned while working with him. "Hey, you know him? We could use your help getting through to him!"

More soldiers were called in to deal with the rampaging laguz, but not so much that it was pulling drastic numbers away from elsewhere. It was only one laguz, after all. However, the chaotic sounds were by then reaching the ears of all the others around the castle. It was possible that others whom the guards had taken to the castle would get similar ideas to revolt- and others outside the castle might be drawn in by the noise.

ABIGAIL AND WESLEY
_____________________Your minds are closed.
_█████████████████████████████

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ xx
Open your imaginations....XXXXXXXX

Had they known that the city of Eyris had dissolved into such a state if disarray in such a short amount of time, they would never have come back. With soldiers at every corner, the more paranoid aspects of the twins began to surface in their body language. Every sharp gaze that fluttered over them made their breath catch, and every accusing glance at another person made them reach for their weapons (Granted, they always pulled out something else to dissuade the guards- a piece of parchment for Wesley, and a small hand mirror for Abigail.).

They knew very well that the things they had done during this war and the last weren't exactly smiled upon. While their minds couldn't fully wrap around the illegality and immorality of their actions, they could tell when a person was displeased or tense. The entire city seemed to be curling in on itself, shuddering as guards arrested both innocent and guilty parties alike. Like a battered woman, it closed itself off from its tormentors and let the blows hit, barely registering them as it closed its mind from its physical body.

Loyalty to the city of Eyris was dying, with each slap of the padlocks and each uniform that was donned. The very air around them seemed carefully stagnant, as if all the city dared not breathe, for fear of capture.

The twins were no exception, though they expressed their paranoia a bit differently than others.

"I have nothing to hide, mister." Abigail's voice was quiet as Saifer told her to hide her hands, though she pulled gloves over them. She winced at the contact, praying that her nails wouldn't completely give until they were out of sight. The gloves were made of black leather; all the better to hide her kills, perhaps, but the smooth material snagged her nails further as she pulled the fingers down over her hands. Her middle fingernail was curled dangerously backwards, with the distal tip touching the base of the cuticle, and the rest of her fingers didn't fare much better.

Though the nails were out of sight, it didn't take a genius to figure out that her hands would be completely useless until she got the damn gloves off.

Distracted by her pain, Abigail could still feel it when Wesley wandered off for a quick moment. Her reliable brother; probably looking for something to help her, no doubt. Hoping to distract the thief from her brother's departure, she looked up at Saifer with all the sweetness she could muster.

She could only hope that the stinging sensation did not reveal itself in her tense, forced smile.

"Is this better?"

There was a sudden scream- unlike most screams that they created, however, this one was not tinged with agony or fear, but with anger. Abigail's head snapped around in an instant, and a dagger was in her hand in less than a second. Her body posture immediately dropped to a thief's crouch, and her hands screamed as already bent nails caught on the fabric and tore slightly against the tissue of her fingers.

"THIEF! THIEF!"

Wesley came running at that moment, his eyes betraying his frustration and fear. In one hand was clutched a beautiful braided string; in the other, he held onto a roll of bandages as if his life depended on it.

Abigail immediately put two and two together. Not only did they not have money, but with Abigail's smooth hands out of commission, she couldn't even attempt to steal what she needed to heal. Wesley had taken it into his own hands- with guards crawling around like flies on a carcass, he couldn't afford to kill the shop owner, first. On a solo mission with little to no practice with common theft, he had been caught, and was now essentially running for his life.

Unauthorized weapons? Theft? Lack of uniform? Attempted murder when the shopkeeper had attempted to beat him with a stick? The charges weren't light, and neither were the consequences.

It appeared that the apprehension before was going to cause them more trouble, in the long run. Wesley yelled out his warning before he even got to them, before the guards had a chance to react.

"Abigail, run!"

She didn't waste a moment's time. Grabbing onto Saifer's cloak, she made for the dense crowds, looking for some way- any way- to get out of the guards' line of sight.

Anyone who had seen them BOTH could connect the dots; both parties ran at the exact same time, even if it was in different directions.

Ah, the city of Eyris. Who knew when it was the last time Kione had actually encountered a city. Most likely it was before he was sent into the asylum. If it wasn't for the fact that he has not been to a city in so long, he would have noticed all the guards around the whole town and thought something fishy was up. However, he didn't think it was that suspicious and just moved along the town.

He had followed the twins and Saifer into the city, but somehow they had split away from him. Must have been the large dense crowds. The fact that they were that large in size makes them easily susceptible to disappearing within crowds. Not to mention the fact that Kione was slightly distracted. The summoner sighs as he stood in a middle of a crowd. He had no idea what he could actually do. Completely clueless.

Some sort of talk caught his attention. His eyes slowly moved in the direction of the voices as he saw a couple guards surround a person. He heard the guards talk to the stranger about the fact that they needed approval of the tomes they had in their hands. That random mage was quickly taken into custody. Kione did not like this at all. It seems as though things were going on that he did not know about. Also the guards that were still around began to eye the summoner.

Him standing in the middle of a crowd seemed a bit suspicious to the guards apparently. The guards approached Kione as he looked like a mage. He wasn't surprised that they asked him if he was carrying any magical tomes or staves since he was after a mage of the dark arts. Luckily, they confiscated those magical items from him when he was sent to the asylum so he had nothing to hide. Kione kept a calm composure until the guards left him alone and he let out a sigh of relief. He did not want to go back into some sort of jail after just recently getting out of one.

Suddenly, he heard a scream in the air. He quickly turned in the crowd and heard a voice that he recognized. "Wasn't it the voice of those twins?" he thought as he saw people in the crowd being pushed away. "What is going on?" he asked himself as he tried to get a better view. Guards were in the distance and were chasing one of the twins. His eyes caught the other twin and the thief that was scared for his life earlier. However they broke into a run in a random direction and it seems as though the one twin, that was running away from the guards, was going towards his direction.

They did help free him from his cell. He would have to repay them for their deeds even if they weren't the nicest people in the world. Kione turned slightly to blend in with the crowd he was in. The summoner waited till the boy got close enough to him and Kione suddenly grabbed him and placed him in front of his black robe so the boy be out of sight of the guards that were chasing him. Before Wesley was able to say anything Kione just said, "Shhh" to him and hoped that the twin would recognize who he was. Kione slowly moved out of the crowd and away from the scene that had just occurred to get him to safety

The innocent little voice of Abigail momentarily distracted Saifer from his surveillance. 'Mister'? He was a 'Mister' to her? That's when it occured to him that neither of the twins knew his name. Would it even be wise to tell them? On the one hand, adding a name to himself might increase his value or life span. On the other...well, it couldn't really hurt to tell them, could it? Before he could, however, he noticed that Abigail was putting on some gloves over the exposed fingernails. Wincing, Saifer began to imagine how it would feel to have such a stinging sensation himself from that kind of contact. One of the fingernails might just break off when it was time to take off the gloves. Saifer vaguely remembered that whenever he'd had to take care of his own wounds, he would have a small store of bandages (or cloth, rather) for himself back in his burrow...in Elibe.

Saifer suddenly felt one less presence than before around him, despite Abigail's question. He could tell from the absence of Wesley's footfalls, and the fact that he was naturally quite the alert person due to all his experience in needing to be as such. Saifer decided to answer Abigail first while quickly scanning around for the missing boy.

"It's not really better at all, but at least no one will see it," he murmured. It just made him uncomfortable that the child was in pain. In fact, he might even have to consider spending a few of the coins he'd snagged from that old man in Elibe before coming to...wherever the hell he was. Indeed, this place was just one question after the other. There were strange human-not-human creatures around the area, and it seemed they were accepted to some degree. In fact, the only thing that wasn't out of place was the annoying guardsmen, though this Eyris place had considerably more than any of Bern's villages.

Out of nowhere, he saw Abigail go into a dive and draw her blade out of the corner of his eye. He was about to hiss at her to stand down before his mind registered the screaming as well. Saifer's hand automatically went for the Light Brand strapped to his back while he scanned the scene, hoping that it had nothing to do with Wesley. He almost jumped out of his skin when he heard someone shout "thief", but then allowed himself to relax since he hadn't been doing any thieving yet. Then, as his first fear had prophesized, Wesley came running out with a market-brand bunch of bandages. Saifer gritted his teeth and instantly regretted not going to buy them in the first place as to avoid this problem.

He was about to grab Abigail by the wrist in order to run (since he was still mindful of the hand) before she actually grabbed his cloak and lead him forward. "Why does this have to be so familiar?" he groaned, running alongside Abigail. It was instantly apparent that there were too many guards in the area to slip out of sight completely from. And now, the gold in his pouch was useless for buying supplies with which to last a while since by running he was now a fugitive alongside the bandage thief.

After about half a minute of navigating the crowd, Saifer shook off Abigail from his cloak and pointed out an alley between buildings. "Duck in there, quickly," he ordered in a low voice. He then turned around and began searching for Wesley. Saifer could see that the guards were coming for him too, and, since Wesley had shouted his sister's name, they would also probably search for her too, although perhaps they would be appeased if they just got the bandage thief. It wasn't a capital crime, after all...although if Wesley had any suspicious objects on him, it would give them incentive to seek out Abigail as well. Perhaps Saifer was overestimating the guards, but there was no such thing as certain in this world, at least for him.

Wesley'd probably torn off in a different direction since Saifer couldn't see him right now. He had no time to investigate, though, since bystanders were starting to stare at the boy who'd just ran by with a big black cloak. The Griimro turned back to the alley he'd pointed Abigail to and ran over. He was starting to feel frustrated even though it wasn't his job to play guardian. "Next time, let me do the stealing," said an agitated Saifer. He grabbed Abigail gently by the wrist and pulled her along down the alley's path.
