It was like walking onto Jupiter. Not that Coralie had ever been off this particular planet, but it was an old saying that was ringing rather true at that moment. Haruka had never spent inordinate amounts of time in a garage, willing to trust experts than ruin her precious vehicles with what limited knowledge she possessed, and the Princess had spent even less time on such things. Ruby eyes were wide like a child during their first trip to the mall, and ankles crossed so that Allie might twist and look around the room.
"This is very not what I would think!" Her voice was quiet so as not to be heard far, but it wasn't a negative statement. What exactly the freshman had expected, no one could really know, but it was clear that the guinea pig was catching her eye. Looking over towards it, her body unconsciously strained in that direction without once leaving the square of tile she'd stepped to upon entering the room.
"What is that?"

The class guinea pig was definitely a piece of work. It had actually once upon a time been a decent car most likely. However, the owner eventually had managed to drive the poor vehicle to death. It had come to that class in one piece. It was in pieces now, but mostly because the class had dissected it to learn more things about vehicles.
Pointing with a thumb towards the vehicle, the tomboy mentioned "It's an '83 Volvo 240 dl 4dr. It's a boxy lil' thing, ain't it?" That was one of the distinct features of Volvo cars from that time. They were very boxy.
"We call it Bob." Yes, the hunk of junk was named Bob. "So... curious... what were ya expectin' when ya dropped by?"

Nodding somewhat comically with her head bobbing at dramatic angles, Coralie's exuberant movement was brought up short by the question. What had she expected, really? "I am not sure. I think that maybe there would be a lot of mess, it is very neat." Or well, neater than she expected. There was no dodging oil slicks on the floor, loud voices as people yelled at each other, not really a flurry of work. But then, it was close to the beginning of the year, and there didn't seem to be too much to work on anyway.
"Also very quiet. Did the class not start yet? I am sorry if I am taking up a lot of time." There hadn't been a real set time-limit for this whole tour deal, but she rather suspected that it wasn't supposed to have her in the garage listening to Ellie talk about an '83 Volvo. "I am just curious, I have not seen too many cars until I lived here. They have them in Tokyo, but not so many like this." The metro was far more popular, with there being little space at all to park something as large as a vehicle.
Here, everyone had one! It was so strange!

The blonde sighed rather audibly. Did someone forget to mention to this girl when school actually started? "T'day's jus' an orientation sorta of deal day... jus' th'kind'a day where Seniors walk Freshman 'round school an' junk."
She shrugged, then returned her eyes to the general classroom. "They gotta keep this room clean fer liability's sake. Th'school doesn't need some dumbass suing them because they got injured in Auto shop. Naw... th'only thing t'get messy should be th'mechanic. Not the rest of th'stuff."
The mention of there being less cars (at least that was what Ellie picked out of Allie's words) caused the tomboy's jaw to drop. "Well... this car's old as dirt... so means they don't make any of these ones anymore... but sh*t... not many cars?! I'd probably kill myself... do they have lots'a motorcycles at least?" It was one of those times that the senior was proud to be an American.
Her eyes managed to roll to the clock on the wall in the classroom half of the room, and found it was already getting pretty late. "Hey, Allie... ya think I did an okay job showin' ya 'round? I promised my friends that after I finished up 'ere... that we'd go fer Mexican food..." Her voice seemed to dwindle off, as if asking without really asking if she could go.

There was an exuberant nod at the mention of motorcycles. "There were many! And then the not very nice kind? A...scooter? I think that is what it is. My friend here told me that word." Blanche might have had her eye on a zippy little pink Vespa that had her companion tapdancing rather nicely to find a reason to deny her. After all, she didn't have any real documentation of existing in that time and place. Nobody was really going to give her a license were they? Coralie had found out that yes, yes they would once she had the properly forged documents. Money could buy you anything and she had quite a bit of it hidden for a rainy day. Or forged documents.
"But not many cars. The city is very....close?" Fingers knitted together as if to show that the roads were narrow and not really conducive to auto travel...unless you had a lot of money or lived outside of the city! But that was very rare and certainly not something the Tsukino family had.
The mention of Mexican food had Coralie blinking a bit, remembering the last time she had seen Ellie Spectre and she laughed oddly. It was a nervous laugh and an embarrassed one, awkward that she was taking up so much of the Senior's time and apparently to the point to where Ellie really just wanted to go be elsewhere. Allie's mind immediately caught this thought and shook it loose; everyone had their friends. Wouldn't she rather be with her own than hanging out with a potential stranger? Duh!
Holding out her hand, she tried to smile as brightly as possible. "Yes! Thank you for showing me. I will not be lost now. Have fun!" A quick handshake, and everyone would be free to go about their business.
