Kali stared up at Howl for a moment, watching childish delight light up his feaures, before stifling a giggle. He was...so cute!!
She didn't bother to change her height, and instead grabbed Howl's wrist and tugged him along behind her. "Come on. I have money. Do you want two scoops, or one? And how about a waffle cone?" Oh, pinching his cheeks. It was so hard to resist. "I like waffle cones...they're sweet, and taste like syrup."
It didn't take long to get to the ice cream shop, though Kali had a bit of trouble shoving the door open. It was always heavy; but today it seemed heavier.
"Ugh. What a stupid design for a door. Now! What shall we get??"

Howl would have denied being cute if he'd known what Kali thought of him. Dashing was a better word. Handsome was even better, stunning was one of his favorite descriptions--but cute? Dogs were cute. Kittens were cute. Babies and children were-- Oh, right.
"Two scoops?" Howl asked hopefully, rather surprised that the older girl hadn't gone back to her original height. And she was willing to pay for him, too? This was starting to sound like a date. "I'll have..." The wizard in minature studied the list of flavors. It was common knowledge that he was a picky eater.
"Blackberry," he decided. "With a waffle cone."

Blackberry certainly was an odd choice, but Kali didn't mention it as she ordered it, and a chocolate cherry double scoop, both in waffle cones. She paid the cashier, but was rather bewildered to find that she only met the tall counter with her chin, and had to stand on the little step to look into the clear part of it to see the ice cream.
Apparently not changing her height had been no conscious decision on her part, as she scowled furiously and hopped up onto her tip toes to take and pay for the ice cream. She had just plum forgotten.
"And I thought being short was miserable before. C'mon, Howl. Let's go outside so I can be normal again." She rather despised being even shorter than she usually was. Handing him his cone, she headed for the door without dragging him this time, thankful that some old man held it open for them. A quick look around to make sure not too many people were going to notice her sudden growth spurt, and a moment later she stood back at 5'3. And a half. She could never, ever, forget the half.
"Mmm...much better!" She beamed, looking back toward Howl. "You said you wanted to learn that, right?"

Howl was one picky eater, but that didn't mean he was any less eager to have icecream than the next kid. "Being short's not so bad," he commented as they walked outside. "It means people'll buy things for you," he added as he took a bite of his ice cream. "Like ice cream." There was some power, at least, in being short.
He was attempting and failing to eat his ice cream politely. It was something you couldn't be dignified in doing. He frowned at the realization, but promptly smiled up at Kali.
"You'll really teach me?" he asked. "Maybe making myself grow taller will break the spell Darcy put on me," he added hopefully. "Then I can break Sophie's and we can get married again."

Kali just smiled at Howl. There were other ways, she knew, to get people to buy you thinks. Specifically, boys. They were always suckers for a pretty girl. At least, the straight ones were.
"I don't know if it'd break the spell. I doubt it, actually. But yeah, I'll teach you. It's not super hard. Easier than making plants grow, anyways." But, that was just because plants were strangely demanding little buggers.

Howl would have had to admit that he often found himself buying things for the especially pretty girls he tended to meet, and if not buying, he was summoning, enchanting, doing something to please said pretty girl. At least, until they told him he was adorable and went on their way.
"I think I used to know the spell," Howl mused. Certainly he had, how else would he have been able to turn into Twinkle at will? "Sometime, though, I'll find a spell at reverses the one Darcy used to make me like this." There was that grudge. The wizard had never quite forgiven Darcy.
He doubted he ever would. "I'll teach you something in return," he said with a smile. "What would you like to learn?"

"Oh...wow. I don't know." She thought back to their fight, or rather, challenge. It didn't take long for her to figure out what she wanted, though.
"That thing you did, tranforming into a cat. Can you teach me that? I only know how to alter my form minorly, not anything like that. It'd be so awesome!" She beamed. He didn't need to know what she'd use it for, of course. Nothing bad. Maybe a little bit illegal or against a rule, but nobody would be hurt.
