As Mizu began to have his fit, Katia stared, wide eyed and pale. She was horrified. She was scared. She covered her mouth and shook her head, unable to even scream. Luka quickly wrapped himself around her, and she clung to him.

"D-do something!" She managed to squeak.

Kali didn't need any urging. She was next to Mizu in a second, calm despite the situation. His condition, she reflected, was a lot like what her aunt had gone through.

"Mizu, I need you to tell me if you have any medicine on you." She asked him quietly, guiding him into a position it would be easier to breathe in. "Just relax...it'll pass, I promise." She assured him, hoping Luka knew enough to take care of Katia. She also hoped that goth boy over there would hurry the ******** up. There wasn't much she could do for Mizu, if this wasn't an asthma attack. But she could do some to ease his pain.

Healing wasn't something she had, exactly, tried before. But she didn't see how it was much different than hurting people. Just...backward.
Taking his hand, careful to keep him in the position she held him in, she closed her eyes and let her own brand of magic do it's work. She saw the 'lines' inside Mizu, the flow of energy inside his body. But something was wrong. Some of them were twisted.
The solution was far away, and out of her expertise. She couldn't possibly fix it permanently.

But she might be able to help. 'Reaching' out to him, she pulled at the twisted strands, struggling to keep them from twisting further. If this was working, he might find the pressure on his chest lessen; which was all Kali wanted. If it were easier for him to breathe, he could probably last until the ambulance got there.
Good god, the last thing she wanted was for this kid to die, especially not in front of Katia. She was aware that her cousin was crying, now, sitting on the ground and holding Luka close to her. But as she thought about it, her magic slipped, and she nearly lost her grip on Mizu's 'lines'.

'Focus.' She demanded, pushing Katia out of her mind. She had to pay more attention to Mizu.

Lance had soon taken off in search of a phone, leaving Mizu in Kali's care. The boy managed to shake his head as she asked about him having any medication, unable to form any words - he needed air to be able to talk. Still, he tried to keep calm, though that was easier said than done; it was hard to keep calm when you were close to suffocation.

Nearby, Cain was trying to calm a hysterical Kouki by hugging the other shadow. Mizu was also aware of the fact that Katia was crying, and felt guilt welling up in him - he hadn't wanted to frighten the girl, but it was obvious that his current condition was definitely scaring her. It figured that the one day he'd have an attack on the one day that someone asked him to hang out with them.
He found himself growing surprised as the pressure in his chest began to lessen a little, and breathing became less difficult. The impling boy was still gasping, but it wasn't as bad as it had been.

"There's an ambulance on the way!" Lance yelled as he rushed back to the group. He'd managed to find a payphone, and after telling the lady on the line which park they were in, he'd rushed back to see how everyone was doing. Kali appeared to be doing...SOMETHING, though Lance didn't quite know what. Cain was still comforting Kouki, and Luka was doing the same for Katia. Needless to say, this was a mess. He just hoped that the ambulance got there soon.

Ten minutes later, it arrived. Paramedics hurried out of the ambulance and rushed over to Mizu, immediately putting a mask over his face to help him breathe all while loading him up onto a stretcher. Kouki followed, of course, and the paramedics allowed the others to come into the ambulance as well, if only to help keep Mizu calm.
"Do any of you know who his parents are?" one of them asked; Mizu was still unable to respond for himself, so they needed to find out who the kid was through other means. "Or what his last name is, maybe?"

Kali had let herself be pushed away as the paramedics came, letting her hold on Mizu's energy go. These guys knew what they were doing, so her job here was done.

Despite the fact that she felt more like passing out and sleeping for about six hours, Kali hurried to Katia, scooping her into her arms and rocking her back and forth.
"Shh...shh, sweety, it's okay. Look. Look. The paramedics are here. Everything is going to be fine, alright?" She said, trying to soothe the girl. Luka was zipping around their heads in a mad frenzy, cooing and Lu-ing in a high pitched, worried tone. Katia was still sobbing when the medics asked who Mizu was, but Kali still heard and stood, carrying Katia.

"His name is Mizu Hamasaki. We don't know who his parents are, but he lives about two blocks from here." She responded robotically, dark circles already appearing under her eyes. Her face was rather pale, actually..And she felt dizzy...

Maybe doing that for Mizu hadn't been such a good idea.
"K-Kali?!" Katia asked, gripping her cousin's cheeks. "Are you okay?! Kali, d-do-on't be sick too!" She begged, sobbing.

"M-not sick.." Kali mumbled. "Just...tired..."
Luka saw it coming before it happened, and managed to wrap himself around Katia, using strength that even he hadn't been aware he had to keep her in the air. Kali, on the other hand, fell toward the ground in a dead faint.

Lance dove for Kali as soon as he saw that she was falling, and caught her before she managed to hit the ground. Carefully, he lifted her so that he was carrying her bridal style just as a paramedic rushed over to see if she was alright. It appeared as though now they'd be taking HER to the hospital as well - despite Kali's words before she'd fainted, these guys weren't taking any chances.

"Put her here, son." a man said, gesturing to one of the stretchers. Lance nodded and laid her there before turning his attention to Katia; he wasn't the best with kid, but he wasn't about to leave the girl to cry.

"Hey, she'll be okay." The black-haired boy smiled, trying to reassure and calm the girl down. "She just wore herself out; she'll be fine after a nap." At least, that's what he hoped. He really didn't know much about magic or how it worked, if he were fully honest.
'She'd better be okay though.'

Luka let Katia drift softly to the ground, attaching himself firmly to her legs once they reached it. The girl was near inconsolable now, her cries degenerating into high pitched shrieks every now and again. When Lance came over, however, Katia flung her arms around him and wailed. He was the only one, aside from the shadows, that wasn't sick and dying right now.
She felt his warm arms wrap her into a hug that was almost as good as Kali's, and calmed down, shrieks and wails turning into regular, quiet sobbing. She peeked over his shoulder and watched as the Paramedics loaded Kali up as well, the ambulance attendants doing their best to help Mizu. A few of them knew of the boy, however, and knew there wasn't much they could do here, or in the hospital.

"I-I, wa...an-na go-o too." Katia hiccupped, rubbing at her now very red eyes and sobbing quietly.

"Sure thing, sweet heart." A kind voice said. Turning her head, Katia saw that it belonged to one of the paramedics. "You all can ride in the back."
They seemed strangely unconcerned about the Shadows; and even if they had, the mischevious creatures, or Luka at least, wouold have gone along anyways. The green eyed shadow seemed to have attached himself quite firmly to Katia's legs, trying to reassure her by nibbling on her finger tips.

There was little that Lance could do for Katia, save hug the little girl and whisper what he hoped were soothing things to her. When the paramedics said that they could all ride in the ambulance, Lance stood so that he was now carrying the girl and headed into the back of the vehicle. He glanced back once to make sure that the shadows were all following before stepping up into the ambulance, taking a seat with Katia. "Everything'll be fine..."

In the ambulance, Kouki stayed fairly close to where the attendants were caring for Mizu; the little shadow was rather upset, but still seemed to know that he needed to keep his distance from the paramedics so that they could do their job. "La...la la, lalala..." He chirped softly, as though he were trying to bring some sort of comfort to Mizu, though the little shadow needed a bit of comfort himself. That was probably why Cain was sticking so close to him.

Lance didn't know it, but he had just made himself a friend, or a fan. In comforting Katia, he became a temporary replacement for Kali. She would, from this point on, adore him. Because of this, she sniffled and nodded, curling up into a small ball and snuggling close to Lance. She was silent for the entire ride, watching Kali and Mizu carefully.

She was upset when they were separated at the hospital and forced to stay in the waiting room, but did not degenerate back into her shrieking, hysterical self. No, she cried silently, gripping Lance's hand and letting Luka pet her hair.

Occasionally, Luka looked over at the other two shadows, perhaps hoping to reassure them. He was, however, mainly focused on Katia. She was his host, and he didn't want anything to upset or harm her. He stayed as anxious as she did as they waited for something, anything good to happen.
This came about twenty minutes later, when a rather pretty blonde woman walked in. She was a nurse. Smiling at Katia and Lance, she walked over and gestured toward the hallway.

"Your friend is awake." She said softly. "Room 104. She's asked to see you." She smiled. "If you come with me, I can show you where the room is." She didn't say anything of Mizu. They had brought the boy to an ICU, up in the quarantined care ward. They couldn't risk him having another attack, due to airborn irritants. Until all danger had apparently passed, nobody but his parents would even be able to look at him. And even then it would be on the other side of a window.

Lance had no objections to having Katia cling to him during the coarse of the drive to the hospital. The girl needed something to hold onto obviously, and he wasn't about to shove her away or tell her to go cry into Luka. He knew from experience what it was like to have no one to hold you when it was needed, and was therefore not going to make the poor kid go through what he'd had happen to him - though, Katia had probably never been beaten like he'd been, or at least that was what he hoped.

He looked up when the nurse arrived and nodded to her in response. "C'mon; lets go see her then." The gothic boy smiled down at Katia before standing up with her to head to Kali's room. Behind them, Kouki and Cain followed. Kouki was, of course, quite worried about Mizu. He wasn't allowed to see his host, and this upset the little shadow quite a bit. He was currently making soft, sniffling noise. The poor little thing was probably worried out of his mind. There wasn't anything that he could do until he was allowed to see Mizu, however.

"Hey there." Lance poked his head into Kali's hospital room upon arriving and grinned slightly, heading inside with Katia and the three shadows. "How're you feeling?"

Luka looked over at Kouki as they made their way to Kali's room, inching closer to nuzzle the other shadow. He cooed softly, trying to reassure him that Mizu was okay. Kali had helped him, Luka knew, and he tried to assure Kouki that it had been enough to help his host.

"Like a prisoner." Kali said from the bed, face seeming paler than usual with the dark rings around her eyes. "Apparently I'm not strong enough to go pee on my own. The offered me a tube, but I think I'll hold it..." She wasn't exactly sure why she had just broadcasted this fact to Lance, of all people, but she didn't have time to ponder the mystery. Katia hit her like a cannon ball, sobbing and clinging all over again. Chuckling softly, Kali scooped her into her lap as best she could, tilting her small face up.

"Kati, Katia. Come on, sweetheart. Do I look dead to you?"
Sniffling, Katia nodded, clinging furiously to Kali's shoulders. The older girl laughed, hugging her tightly.
"Alright. You've got a point. But I'm not, okay? So calm down, or your dad's gonna have my hide for making you cry."
Katia hiccupped, but nodded again, curling up on Kali's bed.

Kali held her with one arm, looking up at Lance. "What happened to Mizu? Do you know yet? Is he...okay?"

Cain did the same as Luka, both shadows now trying to calm and comfort their new friend. Despite still being fairly distraught, poor Kouki seemed to be calming down slightly. He'd do much better when he was finally allowed to see Mizu again, but for now, Cain and Luka's presences were helping him to deal with it. "La la..."

"Lovely." Lance chuckled slightly, despite the situation. Poor girl. He'd offer to help her, but he very much doubted that Kali wanted any help from him when it came to that little detail. The Gothic boy watched as Katia all but tackled her cousin with a hug and smiled, glad to see that the little girl was finally allowed to be with Kali again. "Everything's okay now, kiddo; no reason to cry."

Lance's smile faded slightly at the mention of Mizu and he shook his head. "Dunno; I know he's in ICU, and he's alive, but other than that, I haven't heard a thing." He hoped that the kid was doing alright. "Hopefully, they'll come tell us when there's more news..."

"ICU? Aw, hell..." Kali twirled her fingers through Katia's hair, frowning at Lance. "Alive is good, but...he must be pretty bad off if they have him up in ICU..." She said softly. Katia had relaxed substantially in her lap, and she looked down to find that the little girl had fallen asleep. Smiling, she shook her head, then looked up at Lance.

"Um...are you...going to sit?" She asked softly. "And stay, I mean? You...don't have to..." But she would appreciate the company, she thought, though didn't say it out loud.

Lance nodded slightly. "Well, from the sound of it, he's here pretty often, so...maybe he'll be okay." They could only hope, really. Lance himself couldn't exactly say that he knew anything about Mizu's condition. Hell, he'd barely just met the kid!

"Eh?" The gothic boy blinked as he was snapped out of his thoughts by Kali's question. He was still irritated that she'd been such a cocktease to him earlier, but...she was in the hospital, so he supposed that he could sit and talk to her at least. "Sure." The young man, dropped into a chair next to the bed, and for the next while, proceeded to begin chatting with her for the next 20 minutes.

It was soon after that an impling couple came into the room. "Is this...Kali Kovak's room?" the man asked. "We're the Hamasakis...Mizu's parents?"

Kali looked up as the impling couple walked in, turning her attention from Lance to the Hamasakis.
She really was glad that he had stayed. She had teased him so much this morning, he really didn't have to, but he had anyways. She was still smiling about that.

"Yes. That'd be me...Nice to meet you." She smiled, shifting Katia on her lap. Her leg was starting to fall asleep.
Surprisingly, this didn't even cause the little girl to stir, and after she was sure that Katia was still asleep, Kali looked back up at the Hamasakis. What, she wondered, did they want?
PostPosted: Sun Oct 03, 2010 8:54 pm

"I'm Naoko, and this is my wife Yua." the man quickly said, introducing himself and his wife. "The doctor said that you were the one who saved our son." The two implings came into the room, Yua taking a seat in one of the chairs while her husband stood next to her.

"We were wondering if we could have a word with you; firstly, we'd like to thank you for helping our son. He's very...sickly, as you may have noticed. He shouldn't have been out of the house at all."
Upon hearing this, Lance had to keep himself from frowning; he would have thought that exposing your kid to the outdoors would HELP when they were sickly. "We'd like to know if there's anything that we can do to repay you; you saved his life, after all."

Naoko waited a few moments after his wife had finished speaking before picking up where she'd left off. "We'd also like to ask if you'd be interested in looking after him when we're gone; we can't always be at the house unfortunately, and it'd be good to have someone who could look after him while we're gone - when you're well again, of course."

At first, she was a little reluctant. The phrase 'Have a word with you' had never ended well for her. However, as they continued, she found a small smile crossing her face.

"There's...no repayment necessary." She told them, shaking her head. "I would have done the same for Katia..." she paused when they did, sensing that they had more to say. When they had finished, she...wasn't entirely sure how she should respond.
Of course, she was interested. She would love to help Mizu, and spend more time with him. He seemed like a good, friendly kid; and nothing against his parents, but they seemed a touch...paranoid. Perhaps having someone like her around would help.

But then there was the issue of Katia and Luka. They were her responsibility also. Looking down at the girl for a moment, she considered this, before looking back up at Mizu's parents.

"Katia is home schooled, and she's my responsibility also while her father is at work...I...would love to watch Mizu, but there is a chance that this would interfere with me watching Katia..." She trailed off. "Is there a possibility that she...could come along?"
