Hunger, Hazards, Hot Dogs and a Place To Call Home
The streets were busier than usual in Barton town, a few new shops had opened up in the main strip and people were hurrying in to see what they had to offer. Among those gathering was a rather frantic looking animal, a Pokemon to be exact, that was trying to squeeze in through the crowds. He wriggled and wiggled and scratched and whined, all to no avail. However, the poor thing never gave up! What could be so inciting that he needed so much effort to achieve?
"FOOOOD." The Pokemon whined, his black ears pinned backwards. He paced back in forth for a moment, something that he had been doing for hours since the start of the day, and finally lay down upon his back, tiny paws swaying in the air. "Foooood, pleeeeeaseee." He whimpered, bright blue eyes staring at every passer by. In what looked like frustration, he began rolling around on the sidewalk like a log rolling down a hillside. All the while, no one seemed to take any notice, which was only furthering the poor Pokemon's frustration. He rolled a while longer before assuming a normal sitting position, cocking his head back to look straight up at the buildings above his head. Then, a smirk appeared on his features, his vigor rejuvenated.
"Food doesn't come to those who beg this way," He deduced. "I've got to try something more upfront." And with the spring back in his step, he raced towards an open food court.
-------------------------------------------------
Once there, he paused to smell the air, grinning at the variety of things he could smell. Then, his eyes grew wide with glee. "HOT DOOOOOOOOOGS!" He exclaimed, bouncing around. "MUST GET HOT DOGS! HOT DOOOOOGS!" A millisecond later, he had taken off towards the hot dog stand.
What he didn't see was that someone had spilled soda upon the ground in his path and he slid, just as fast as he had been running, down the hallway and right smack into a garbage can. He emerged, both dazed and covered in trash, with a pout upon his face. "Darn it!" He grumbled. "Now that I'm covered in trash, no one will give me a hot dog!" Filled with a feeling of failure and discontent, he curled himself up within the trash heap and decided to take a nap. Luckily, he wasn't left for too long.
'Hey, look! It's a Pokemon!"
"Woooow! But it's covered in trash..."
"EEEEEW..."
The filth covered Pokemon opened its eyes to see a group of kids, varying in ages from Grade school to high school, hovering over his spot on the garbage heap. Instantly, he leaped into an active position and flashed them a smile. He had always liked kids, especially kids that liked to play games like hide n seek, but was always sad when they had to say good bye. He watched as the girls smiled, cooed and giggled at how cute he was and began jumping and bouncing about on the floor in hopes of gathering more attention from them. Then, a young boy, who was part of the group, knelt down to the floor and began cleaning him off with a few paper towels. At first, the Pokemon wriggled at gesture, unsure of what was happening, but nuzzled up to the boy in gratitude for the much needed clean up.
"Aw," The boy said. "You're just a cute little guy, aren't you?" He petted the Pokemon gently as turned to grab something, pulling out what was left of a hot dog from his lunch bag. "Here, would you like some of this?"
The Pokemon enjoyed the petting thoroughly and nuzzled the boy's hand graciously. Then, as he was offered what looked like a half of a hot dog, he couldn't believe his eyes! He inched closer and sniffed, it wasn't fake! He promptly began eating, forgetting to savor the moment, and leaped up into the boy's arms to nuzzle and lick his face as a thank you. "You are AWESOME! AWESOME AWESOME AWWWEESOOOME!" He exclaimed. "THANK YOOOOU!"
The boy laughed hysterically at the massive thank you he was receiving. "You're welcome!" He exclaimed, pausing a moment to look at the Pokemon. "Hey, you don't have a trainer, do you?" He asked, watching as the Pokemon shook his head silently. Then, with a grin, the boy said-
"Alright then, I'm going to be your trainer!"
This statement sent the Pokemon into a excited dance and promptly jumped into the hug that the boy had opened his arms for. Clearly this had been a long awaited miracle for the young Pokemon.
-----------------------------------------------
They laughed together, as they left the mall, and both were chattering away about what their partnership would bring to them in the future.
"Oh yeah," The boy said while unlocking his apartment door. "I forgot to tell you my name. I'm Justin."
The Pokemon nodded before tilting his head in a questioning manner.
Justin stood confused for a moment but laughed, fuzzing the Pokemon's hair. "Oops, you need a name too!" He said. "Hmm... Well how about Damien, does that sound okay to you?"
Justin's question was answered by a quick nod and a nuzzle before both of them headed into the apartment. Soon, it was dinner time and the meal of choice was, coincidentally, hot dogs. But as Justin sat down to eat, Damien sat up upon his lap with his own hot dog in his mouth instead of eating in his own bowl. Although he couldn't say it the reason for this was very simple...
Damien wanted to show Justin that, when presented at the same time, his love of hot dogs and his love for Justin, were now equivalent to each other.

Twinkle, twinkle, little star. You are not so very far!
"COME ON, 'BASTER!" Damien yelped, his "brother" of sorts had fallen asleep in front of the front door again and he was not having it tonight. He growled, alerting the lazy Vuplix and causing him to jump and dart into the living room. "THANK YOU, ALABASTER!" Damien called after him, not expecting any form of response, and waltzed his way out the door.
The little Zorua hopped down the stairs of the multi-level apartment building and hurried out the front doors. He made his way to a grassy area that lay between the playground and the gardens and lay among the grass, gazing up at the stars above him.
He sighed, nestling into the grasses with a quick wiggle, and donned the face of an impatient child. After a moment he began rolling around on the grass, his trademark action for expressing frustration, growling and mumbling the entire time.
Then, a bright light caught his attention and he sprang to his feet, big blue eyes staring eagerly towards the night sky. However, to his dismay, it was just a truck passing by on the street. He paced back and forth for a bit, trying to contain his frustration, before he could hold it in no longer.
"AHHHHRGGGH!" He wailed. "HOW LONG UNTIL I CAN BE A HUMAN LIKE THAT GIRL I MET IN THE STORE?! HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR A STAR TO FALL?!"
The gods must've really liked him, for a star instantly fell from the sky, and hurtled itself towards the spot where Damien sat. The Zorua stood paralyzed but began to panic when the came closer to him. He ducked behind a tree as it landed, surprisingly not as loud and destructive as he had thought it would have been. Once he was sure that it was safe to venture towards it, Damien bounded right on top of it, bouncing triumphantly.
"IT'S HERE! IT'S REALLY HERE!" He exclaimed in euphoria. "I'M GONNA BE A HUMAN! I'M GONNA BE A HUMAN!" He began to dance and chant upon the star as if it were a stage at an awards ceremony. "I'M GONNA BE HUUUUMAAAAN! I'M GONNA BE HUUUMAAANN! I'M GETTING SLEEEPYY! WHY AM I GETTING SLEEEPYYY?! WHAAAA..."
Damien had plopped down on top of the star brought under a deep sleep. Thankfully, because he would have woken the neighbors with his celebratory chanting.

Dear journal,
OH MY GOOOOOOD! I can hold a pen. I CAN HOLD A PEN. YES! YES! Whoa, I can WRITE! I KNOW HOW TO WRITE! WOOOOOW! THIS IS SO COOL!
... Right. I've got to write something other than screaming. Okaaaay...
Well, I'm HUMAN! Just like Jubilee said! Sort of. She only told me about the star that makes you human. I had to wait for the star to come to me. BUT IT WAS WORTH THE WAIT!
I woke up naked. Yep. BUTT NAKED. And I was in the park by the apartment building. So I got up and walked inside and some lady screamed about me being there and being naked. That was very funny. I don't think wandering around naked is so bad. I guess some people don't like it. OH WELL.
Justin got me some really cool clothes, though. I FEEL AWESOME! I'm so rainboooow... Raaaaiiiinboooow... I like raiiiinboooows... I GOT MY EARS PIERCED TOO! It didn't hurt bad like Justin said it would. I was too focused with playing with my hair to notice anything else. I'M SO PRETTY!
Oh yeah! Alabaster turned human, too! He's so... CUTE! So so so so so so so so CUUUUUTE! I really like playing with his hair and nibbling on his ears. I'm not too sure if he likes it when I nibble on him, he squeaks and wiggles and yells words I don't understand. But he's sooo cute, I could eat him up. Hee heeee... Eat him up. Heeee Heeee... Alabaster's so fun...
Ah, well. That's all I've got for now. It's LUNCH TIIIIME! I hope we're having hot dogs and waffles again! But I think we might have what Crystal wants to eat today. She's aunt Jillian's Eevee and she's real weird and quiet. BUT SHE'S A NINJA TOO! She can hide anywhere and not get found until she pounces on you! I REALLY LIKE HER!
Bye for now!

Little Fox In The Big City. Part 1
Damien had been incredibly eager to wander into the city he had grown up in ever since he grown. He missed the sights, the sounds and the scent of the foods cooking in the street markets. He had been very patient, trying not to be pushy with his request, and finally Spencer granted him the okay. The dark-fox boy wasted no more time and bolted outside the apartment doors.
"WOOOO!" Damien squealed as he rushed down the sidewalk. He hadn't felt so free in a long while. It was as if all his suppressed energy were exploding right out from beneath his feet, propelling him forward. He whipped around corners, over fences and through street lights like a bolt of lightning. Through all this he drank in his surroundings and reminisced with his favorite locations. How he had missed his city.
He had stopped for a rest outside of a strip mall when he took a whiff of the air. Instantly his ears perked up and he made a beeline for the inside of a pizza shop. He smiled at the employees as the assisted their customers and turned his attention to a large round, breaded ball in the display case. It smelled like meat and cheese, and Damien's stomach growled. Quickly, he scrambled for the wallet that Spencer had given him and pulled out a twenty dollar bill just as an employee turned his attention to him.
"Could I have one of those please?" Damien asked, pointing to his desired meat-cheese bread treat.
"Sure, coming right up!" The employee replied. Damien watched as he picked his food up and placed it in a large oven. "I'll just warm that up for you, it'll only be a minute." The employee explained. "Would you like anything else?"
Damien pondered for a moment while his eyes drifted around the room. His eyes landed upon a soda dispenser and he pointed to it. "Could I have some regular cola please?" He asked.
"Sure! Small, medium or large?" The employee replied.
"Large please!" Damien replied, licking his dry lips. All the running around had made him very thirsty. He watched eagerly as the employee filled a huge paper cup with soda and placed it on the counter. Then he turned to retrieve Damien's food from the oven, the heavenly smell filling the air around Damien. Once both items were on the counter before him the employee rung up the price of his meal on the cash register.
"That'll be $7.95, please." The employee said, smiling.
"Here you go!" Damien chirped as he handed the employee his twenty dollar bill.
"Alrightie then," The employee said as he fussed with the machine. He pulled out several bills and few coins and handed them back to Damien. "Your change is $12.05. Have a nice day!"
"Thank you, take care!" Said Damien as he carried his meal outside of the pizza parlor and over to a bench on the side of the street. Ravenously he dug into his food, only pausing between bites to take a gulp of his soda. Within minutes Damien finished his meal and thrown his food away, all except for the staggering amount of soda he still hand clenched in his hand. He stood and stretched, smiling at how pleased he was. Then his eyes fell upon a sign on the opposite side of the road, a massive grin forming on his features.
"A carnival?!" He exclaimed as he hurried across the street, peering in closely at the sign. As he had hoped, the sign listed that dates as the day before, today and tomorrow for admission! But he paused at the admission price, eight dollars. He peered back into his wallet and sighed in relief, he had forgotten that Spencer had given him $30.00 to spend today, meaning he still had $22.05 cents left to spend today. The dark fox grinned and raced down the side walk, following the arrow on the sign he had just read.
"CARNIVAAAALLL!" He screamed as he ran. Today was going to be an awesome day.

Little Fox In The Big City. Part 2
Everything around Damien was colorful, bright and full of music. The young fox boy had just died and gone to heaven in his mind as he approached the ticket booth. Cheerily he placed a ten dollar bill in the slot provided by the glass window and his tail flicked eagerly as the woman handed him his tickets and change. Powered by the massive caffeine soft drink he had just finished moments before he sprinted aimlessly through the carnival at top speed.
He rushed about like this for a while until he had just about seen where everything was placed. He knew where the rides were, he knew where the games were and he knew where the food was, even if he knew he wouldn't be hungry again for a while. Now he had reached a puzzling decision.
"What should I do first...?" He mumbled, blue eyes glancing back and forth between the crossroads of the games and the rides. The swings looked like fun, but so did the balloon darts. The tilt-a-whirl looked exciting, but so did the hit-the-bell strongman game. It was all too much for his to take in at once. So many options and only so much time in the day to do them all. Damien sighed and tapped his foot in irritation. He just couldn't decide.
Then he saw it. It was in the middle of the crossroad, an extravagantly decorated antique carousel. The cheery, haunting music it played caught Damien's attention and he just couldn't resist it's charmingly painted horses and mock-carriages. With a hop, skip and a jump, Damien went to stand on the line with the other children who wanted to ride the carousel. He rocked back and forth to the music as he waited, a pleasant smile on his face.
Then, from behind him came a soft tug. He turned his head back and saw a young girl, no older than six year old staring up at him. He smiled and tilted his head at her, but she turned her eyes away nervously. With a shrug, Damien turned his eyes back to the carousel. But just as the lined moved up, there was another little tug on his shirt, from the same little girl. Again, Damien smiled and tilted his head at her, but this time he knelt down to her level.
"Hi, there." He said. "What's up?"
The little girl peered at him smiled weakly, but remained silent. Damien noticed that she looked a little shaken, like she were upset, but he brushed it off as nothing more than social nervousness. He went to stand and turn around again when the little girl gasped and jutted in front of him, hiding her face in his shirt. Damien jumped and knelt down again.
"Is there something wrong?" He asked. "Why are you hiding?"
The little girl pointed to Damien's side and clung to him tighter. Damien turned his head to see a young man wandering back and forth on his cell phone, which wasn't something to scary to Damien. However, when Damien looked to the little girl again she had rushed behind a trash can. Alerted by how scared of she was of the man, Damien tip toed over to her and sat next to her.
"Why does that man scare you?" He asked.
The little girl shivered and hesitantly sat next to Damien. She peeked up at him and trembled before whispering. "He grabbed me on a ride, mister." She said. "I don't know who he is. But he chased me when I ran away from him."
Damien glanced over at the man and back to the little girl. He didn't like the sound of the situation at all. This little girl could be in big trouble. But, he didn't know what to do. What could he do? But he knew that he had to do something to help this girl. There had to be something he could do.
Then it hit him. He had to find a police officer or a security guard. He had seen many law enforcement shows on T.V. that had situations like this and the police could help. All he had to do was find a security guard at the carnival. Damien looked around and spotted a police woman standing by the carnival entrance and looked to the little girl. "Come with me," He said. "That police woman can help you out."
He lead the little girl over to the entrance and tapped the police officer on the shoulder. "Excuse me miss..." He said. "We need your help..."
The police officer turned and smiled at them. "Well, I'm here to help." She replied. "What seems to be the problem?"
The little girl froze in place and began to shiver. Damien knew she was too scared to talk. He faced the officer and took a breath. "I was on the line for the carousel a when this little girl tugged on my sleeve," He explained. "At first she was quiet and wouldn't say why she was tugging my sleeve but when she saw that man..." He paused to point at the man, who was still wandering the area before continuing. "She got really scared and tried to hide behind me. When I asked her why she was hiding, she told me that the man had grabbed her from another ride at the carnival, that she had no idea who he was and that he had chased her all the way over here." He took another breath before continuing. "Can you help her, miss?"
The police woman had been writing the information down as Damien spoke and nodded calmly. She knelt down to the little girl and placed her hands on her shoulders.
"Are you sure you don't know that man?" She asked.
The little girl nodded feverishly and began to cry. "I never saw him before, honest!" She exclaimed.
The police woman rose and grabbed her radio device. "I have a possible kidnapping attempt by the carousel, requesting backup. Over" She said as she began walking over to the man. She looked back at Damien and the little girl and pointed to the guard post. "Please wait over there so I know you're safe, okay?"
Damien nodded and ushered the little girl over to the guard post. He watched as several more police officers arrived to aid the other officer with capturing the man. The man fought the police and hand to be held down. He was placed in the police car and taken to the station while the little girl's parents were reunited with their daughter. It was quite a sight for Damien to see and he didn't know how to react to it.
Later on that afternoon, Damien would be told that this man was wanted for not only drug dealing and stealing, but for two previous counts of attempted kidnapping and endangerment of a child. That was mind boggling enough for the boy. But when the officers told him that he was a hero for helping save the little girl... His mind was blown. He was a hero? Him? It was an incredible feeling. And when the hero fox returned home to his proud family, he promptly fell asleep on the couch, exhausted from his very busy day.

A Fox In The Court
A day or so after his adventure in the city, Damien got a call from the police department. They started by commending his for his bravery and then explained that he was needed in court. At first Damien was scared and wondered if he was in any trouble, but the officer said that all they needed him to do was talk about what happened at the carnival. They said that it would help them put the kidnapper behind bars so he wouldn't hurt anyone else, which was very important. Although marginally unsure of how he'd be able to handle such a task, Damien agreed to appear before the court and give his side of the story.
On the day of the trial, Damien walked into the court building with a smile. He was greeted by the secretary and told to wait in a chair until an officer came to escort him through the building. So he waited, and waited, and waited, until finally the officer came. He was a kindly man who answered all of Damien's questions, from where he was to what questions he could expect to be asked in the trial. Along the way he shook hands with the judge and met the prosecutor that was working with the little girl's parents. Damien felt like he was a part of one big effort to help someone who couldn't help themselves. And could feel nothing but pride in himself for it.
It was a while yet before the trial and Damien was allowed into the break room. Inside there was a place for coffee, some snack cakes and a bunch of people chatting around a table. The officer pointed out the members of the jury that would be participating in court that day and Damien was happy to see that they looked like ordinary citizens he'd see on the street. He felt that they would understand him better and be more receptive to the situation. While he thought of this, he sat and relaxed in his chair, nibbling on a breakfast cake. He felt confident that he could play and important role in this and not have to worry about messing up with his words. As long as he stayed calm, he'd be okay.
As the chatter in the room rose, Damien noticed that the little girl and her family had entered the room. He smiled and waved to them from his seat. "Hi again!" He called as the little girl rushed over to give him a hug. Her parents sat next to him and formally thanked him for keeping their daughter, Marley, safe from harm. Damien could only smile and accept their thanks. They patted him on the back and chatted until it was time to get ready for the trial.
Everyone gathered in the courtroom and sat down. Damien sat down behind the defense team with Marley while her parents sat up in front of the bench rows with the prosecutor. They watched as the kidnapper, now wearing orange clothes from a jail house, sat behind a desk on the other side of the bench rows along with a man who was later described as part of the defense team. Marley scooted closer to Damien as she saw the kidnapper and Damien patted her on the head.
"It's okay, Marley." Damien said. "He won't hurt you. They won't let him."
The jury entered the court room and sat in their bench rows. Damien marveled at how calm they looked and hoped that he could muster that same feeling when it was his turn to speak. He found it hard to stand still as the bailiff told everyone to rise for the judge, but he knew he had to stay calm. This was for Marley and her family. He had to pull it together for them.
"Let the trail begin." Said the judge.
--------------------------------------
After an hour or so it was Damien's turn on the stand. He walked as soundly as he could while the entire court looked on. He was nervous, but he managed to stifle his anxieties. He sat in the witness's chair and placed his hand on his lap. Then a man came up to him.
"Please raise your right hand." He said. Damien quickly obeyed the command and the man continued. 'Do you swear to tell the truth and nothing but the truth, so help you God?" He asked.
"I do." Damien replied. He had seen this before on T.V., he had just accepted an oath to tell nothing but the truth. This was something he could never break, not that he would ever want, need or have to. He was here to be honest and help Marley out. He was now prepared for anything this court could throw at him.
The first questions came from the defense team who Damien found rather distasteful. They painted this horrible kidnapper up to be just as nice as everyone else in the room. Damien couldn't understand why. He figured that the defense team might have been brainwashed by the kidnapper and with that reasoning in mind, he hoped that they'd realize how horrible the man was and help put him in jail. He was relieved when the prosecutor began asking him questions, he felt she was easier to understand with logic and questioning. He answered every single question as clearly as possible and as precisely as he could. He hoped what he said would help Marley and her family get their justice, even if he didn't really understand what "justice" was.
--------------------------------------
After he left the stand the jury took a break to deliberate. The wait was grueling for Damien. He desperately wanted to know he had helped. Did he manage to convince the jury? Did he sound nervous? Was he understandable? It was a long wait until they were all brought back into the courtroom. Everyone took their seats again as the jury entered the courtroom. They stood until the judge came in and said they could be seated. Then, the judge turned to them.
"Has the jury reached a consensus?" He asked.
One juror stood and faced the court. "Yes." He said. "The court rules in favor of the prosecution. The kidnapper will be charged."
"Very good." The judge said. "I sentence the kidnapper to 30 years in prison!"
Damien watched as the judge slammed his gavel down on his desk and delivered the sentence. He took a deep breath and exited the courtroom with Marley and her parents. There was a period of waiting before he could leave the courthouse in which Marley's parents thanked him again and Damien couldn't have felt any better as they waved goodbye. He had done a great job and made someone else's life a lot easier. He only wished he could create this sort of happiness all the time...

Dear journal,
Hello again, journal! Boy do I have some things to write about!
This whole week has been AWESOME! I finally got to go out to the city and hang around for a while. I went to a pizza place for lunch and had this really giant cup of soda, which made me hyper. But as I was finished eating, I saw a sign for a carnival! I had enough money to go so I followed the signs!
But I really didn't get a chance to do much there. A little girl needed my help when I was on line for the carousel. She was being chased by a kidnapper! I didn't really know what to do until I remembered the cop shows Spencer watches. I looked for a police officer and she helped us out. The bad guy got taken away and Marley, the little girl, was safe! People told me that I was a hero. I felt really good about that.
Anyway, after that I had to go to court and help put the bad guy behind bars. I went to the court house and spoke to everyone at the trial. They asked me a lot of questions about the carnival and Marley and I tried to answer them clearly. I was nervous! But, at the end of the trial, the bad guy went to jail! I must've done a great job answering questions!
It's real late now and 'Baster wants me to turn off the light so he can go to sleep. He's looks cute in his pajamas, they're striped like a zebra! I wish I had striped pajamas...
Bye for now!
Damien

Damien Uses Flatter! (Dark type move: Flattery is used to confuse the target. However, it also raises the target's Sp. Atk stat.)
Damien and Alabaster decided to take a trip out to Opal Lake on a really hot Saturday afternoon. The pair ran through the trees, giggling and making faces at one another, until they reached their destination.
"Last one in is a rotten tomato!" Yelped Alabaster as he waded into the crystal waters.
Damien squealed and belly flopped in after him, scrambling to pull the fire fox boy down with him. "I got you now!" He said, dunking his best friend under the waves. But when they rose from under the water, Alabaster's hair had become straight and was covering his face. Naturally, Damien laughed at his friend's new "hairstyle" but didn't expect the nasty growl that Alabaster gave in return. He watched as Alabaster trudged out of the water and sat back on the sands in a huff. Damien, feeling bad, crawled across the sand and parted the wet, curled wet hair off his friend's eyes.
"I'm sorry, 'Baster." He said. "I didn't know you didn't want to get your hair wet..."
Alabaster sighed and gazed up at Damien. "I didn't tell you, so it's not like you were being mean..." He replied. "But now I'll have to wander around with a big poof of frizz for hair until I can go home and style it again. I'm going to look so silly..."
Damien pouted, he made his friend sad, and he hated it when people were sad. He glanced around and tapped his finger to his chin, trying to think of something he could do to make Alabaster feel better. After a moment, the dark fox smiled.
"But, it doesn't matter to me what you look like." He said. "I've always liked you for who you were and not what you look like. You're funny, have great baking skills and I like you. You're really cute. No matter what you tell me!"
Alabaster paused, blushed and looked away from Damien in a nervous manner. Did Damien really mean all that? Or was he just saying it to make him feel better? Or... Was he genuinely saying these things to make him feel better? He was so confused. But, he smiled up at Damien after a moment and gave him a hug. "I-if you really mean that..." He muttered. "Then thank you. I-I like you for who you are too."
Damien grinned, his plan worked! Of course, he had told Alabaster nothing but the truth, but it was all to get his friend to smile again. Damien jumped to his feet and pulled Alabaster up with him, heading back towards the water. "Well then, c'mon!" He exclaimed. "Let's get back to playing!"
"Oh, you get in first." Alabaster said.
Damien blinked as he swam in. "Okay, but are you coming?" He asked.
"YEP." Alabaster said as he smirked and dove into the water, dunking Damien under as he swam in. "Now we're EVEN."

Dear journal,
Well, isn't life amazing? I've grown again! Awesome right? I'm taller, more muscular and my hair is short and red! I like it! I look soooo cuuute!
I grew a few weeks ago, so I've had time to get used to it. I comb my hair everyday and put on a new set of rainbow clothes (which I buy myself!), and wake Alabaster up for a walk in the city! The heat seems to bother him a lot lately, his face is always beet red! But, something tells me that he's not telling the full truth! Maybe he's blushing 'cause he thinks I'm cute. .. I wouldn't mind that one bit. He's pretty cute himself...
Everything has been the same, in regards to my ears and tail. So, I still look pretty much the same, save for the hair and the added height. But, things at home have changed. Spencer's having a lot of trouble with work and told me that we may need to move to another city... I really don't want to leave my city. I like it here! Plus, Alabaster needs to find his sister! He can't do that in another city! I told him all that, you know, so he told me that Alabaster, Crystal and I could live here while they moved away. He assured me that we'd all stay in touch and that he felt it would be the best for us anyway...
So, yeah... Alabaster, Crystal and I are moving into a forest cottage in a few days. I hope I made the right decision for us...
I'll write again soon!

What Dreams Are Made Of
Damien walked along the forest path, the afternoon sunlight cascading over his coat like a cheerful glow. He was carrying a rake in his hand and a black bag in the other, indicating that he had paused from raking the land around his home. At the end of the path lay the warm sands and the glimmering waters of Opal Lake, one of Damien's favorite places. He set the rake and the bag down to gaze out over the water. A pleased smile formed on his features. "This place can be so beautiful," He muttered.
"Damien! Damien! Hey!"
The Zorua teen whipped his head around to see Alabaster running down the path. He grinned and chuckled as his best friend caught his breath. "Hey, what's up?" He asked.
Alabaster, who was dressed in his swimming trunks, gazed up at Damien and echoed his grin. Quickly, he flung another pair of swimming trunks at Damien and pointed to the water. "You wanted to go swimming!" He exclaimed, plopping two towels out on the sand. "Did you forget?"
Swimming in the lake? It was late Autumn! It was certainly too cold to go swimming! Damien raised an eyebrow at Alabaster, who blushed profusely, and then it all seemed to make sense. A warm blush crossed his cheeks and he laughed. "Well, it's too cold to go swimming, you know!" He said, grabbing Alabaster's arm. "But I know something else we can do that involves swimming!" He tugged Alabaster back down the path and pointed towards the volcano. "I found some hot springs over there," He explained. "We could spend the day there, if you'd like."
Alabaster nodded furiously. "That sounds awesome!" He replied. "Lead the way!"
--------------------------------
The walk was a little long, but neither paid much mind to how long it took them to get there, they were too busy talking about Alabaster's recent growth spurt. Alabaster's face was almost completely reddened by his blushing that he swore he must've looked like a strawberry with fox ears. As they neared the hot springs, Damien took off his coat and began to undress.
Alabaster squeaked and turned away. Admittedly, he wanted to watch, but he knew he would look like a creep. Well, at least he would feel like a creep. After a moment's silence he heard a loud splash behind him and he whipped back around. Damien resurfaced from his leap into the spring, his red hair covering his eyes, and laughed. To this, Alabaster pouted. "Heeey, why didn't you wait for meeee?" He whined.
"It was too cold out there!" Damien replied, reaching his hand out to Alabaster. "Stop being silly and join me!" He paused and smirked up at Alabaster "...Unless you'd rather stand out there and continue marveling at how hot I am."
"Why you little..." Alabaster muttered. Damien knew all along! Now he was incredibly embarrassed, how could he possibly go swimming now? Suddenly, Damien tugged him into the water and hugged him. There, surrounded by hot steaming water and pressed against the chest of the love of his life, Alabaster relaxed and let his anxieties wash away with the water.
--------------------------------
They spent the evening cuddling each other and sharing dreams of their future. Together they walked back to the house during the last few minutes of daylight, hand in hand. Just before they arrived home, Alabaster turned to face Damien and smiled. "I love you, Damien..." He said. He turned to open the front door, just as Damien pulled him back, planting a kiss on his lips. It was a lengthy kiss, one that both of them had only dreamed of up until then.
"Agh! Get a room you two!"
Crystal stood at the doorway with a disgusted expression and both boys could only laugh and blush. Sure, it was embarrassing for her to see them, but it made their first kiss all the more beautiful.

Praise
Damien, you over here?
Yes, dad?
Have you said your praises for this wonderful day?
Not yet, have you?
Ha, no. Shall we say them together?
Yes, I wouldn't have it any other way!
Ha ha! You start, I''ll be right behind you!
--------------------------------------------------
I woke today to the sound of my daughter and the warmth of my lover beside me. Down the hall, my close friend was still asleep among her pillows. With a laugh, I let her sleep just a little more.
Thank you. Thank you.
Feeding the baby is as fun as it is messy, something Alabaster and I share with a common joy. Adriana is a budding host of love and adoration. Pride in myself emerges and bursts into a zing of energy. Then we took our morning stroll. The cold wakes us up and brings a rosy color to our features. Alabaster draws closer to my side. Adriana makes up her own little song.
For all I have been shown this day.
We head home for lunch and have ourselves some fun. Adriana goes down for her nap without much of a struggle and Alabaster and I get some time alone. We make our schedule, something simple and manageable. Cuddling and laughing, we look towards the future. Maybe a ring, maybe another bundle of joy. Only time will tell.
From the sun, to the little buds by to riverbed,
Crystal leaves for the city, demanding a list of things to purchase along the way. With a dramatic twirl, she skips out the door. Alabaster and I share a laugh at how crazy she can be. We try not to doze as we lay on the couch together because we know Adriana will wake soon. I steal a few kisses on his nose and his lips before we hear a rousing cry. Our baby is ready to tackle the rest of the day.
To the ocean, to the mountains white with snow.
We decide to do our daily chores. I tackle the leaves, Alabaster tends to the weeds. Adriana cheers us on with such enthusiasm that it melts my heart. She tries her best to help, but the piles of leaves prove too enticing. Soon my hard work needs to be done over, but I remain cheerful. She's only a baby and doesn't understand what we are doing out here in the yard. Alabaster huffs and shakes his head, but soon he agrees.
All these things are important to me,
Sometimes we decide to take trips into the city for groceries and the like. On this day, however, we stayed home and waited for Crystal to come back. Alabaster starts to prepare dinner and it smells amazing. I feel cozy, safe and warm. Adriana is actively chirping and causing noise around our feet. Eventually the door swings open and Crystal comes hopping in. She commands we help her carry the bags in and Alabaster says something that borderlines on sarcastic. I play referee for a moment before carrying the bags in myself. I've found that, sometimes, if you can't stop the fire one way, you need to find a way around it. Then we sit down for dinner, chicken pot pie and baked potatoes. My mouth starts to water before I can even commend Alabaster on how fabulous it looks.
But the most important thing I've seen today,
After dinner and the clear up, we entertain ourselves. We watch T.V., play cards and discuss our day. Crystal previews the latest outfits she's bought for herself or for Adriana. Alabaster laughs as much as Crystal yells and I can only sit and marvel at how expensive the items cost. The things are packed away in closets or boxes and I take a moment to breathe. I count how much money we have and ponder how much we'll need for the week. Then I ponder how Crystal can buy all of these wonderful things if she isn't using the money I make. Sometimes women scare the living hell out of me.
Would have to be all those beautiful faces smiling back at me.
Tonight Adriana went to sleep very easily, which was a surprise. I found it rather amusing and joked that she'd be growing up soon. Alabaster tensed and laughed while Crystal squealed with excitement. I think that Alabaster's unsure of how to care for a child, but I know that we can accomplish it together. He fears so many things that happened to him as a Pokemon. From his mother being murdered, his father's eyes almost being scratched out, to losing both his older and younger sister in a whole mess of chaos in the forest. I don't know how to deal with these fears just yet, but I sure know how to love them into a quiet state. I hope that, one day, he is reunited with at least one of his family members. They could move in with us. It would be a wonderful thing.
My family, my family. They are my family.
All of his pain brings me back to a similar feeling. I had buried it long ago, and I haven't faced it since. Before I became a city Pokemon, I lived deep in the forests with a small family of my own. We were a family of five, consisting of my father, his brother and his two children. My father was a Zoroark and I held him very close to my heart. His twin brother, my uncle, was a shiny Zoroark. I don't remember much about my cousins, both shiny Zoruas, but they weren't a friendly pair. Though I can picture but five faces in the family, my father always told me that I had a twin sister of my own, but I never saw her. Aside from that... We were a happy family.
I am thankful for my family and they are thankful for me.
There came a day when my life changed. It was so sudden, almost as if I had been abandoned. I was cut off from my little family and lead to the city. I couldn't see who was carrying me, but I knew that they weren't a part of my family. In fact, I wasn't sure if they were a Pokemon I had seen before! They wore a bone mask upon their face and... Looked human... Could they have been a Poke` Human...?
I sing praise! I sing praise! To all that I have seen today!
From there, I was a little city dweller. I wandered free and wide. Then, Justin found me. And... Well. I don't think I need to summarize the rest. I am who I am, no matter what happened to cause it. I will continue to sing the praises my father taught me, to thank the world for all the beauty I have seen.
And I will sing forevermore!
Alabaster's fast asleep now... He looks so cute. I'd better catch some sleep. A new day will be dawning soon! Goodnight, sleep tight. I'll see you in the morning.
Thank you, thank you! For all that I have been given this day!
--------------------------------------------------
Very well done, Damien!
You really think so?
Yes, yes! Of course! You're almost as good as I am now!
Aw, almost?
I'm only teasing! You've always been as good as me!
Really? I've always been that good?
Of course you have! You are my son, aren't you?
Yup! 'Cause you're my dad!
Right you are! And what does that make us?
It makes us a family! We're a family!
Exactly! And we will always be a family, no matter what.
Good! I love you, dad.
I love you, too, Damien.

Meeting The Family pt.2
Dinner was set out in simple bowls, but it smelled delicious. Sarah could barely contain herself when she witnessed the size of the steak that had been prepared, but managed to wait her turn. While everyone else was serving themselves, she studied Damien from her side of the table. He looked very bright, warm, and he smelled clean, which was a major perk. However, she couldn't shake the fact that his scent was familiar, as if she had met someone similar before. As she eventually served herself her share of the food, she worked up the courage to ask him about it.
"Uh, you know..." She said nervously. "Damien... You remind me of a pair of Zoroarks I met when I was still a normal Ninetales... Did you use to live in the forests?"
Damien's eyes widened a little before looking downcast at his plate. He was silent for a moment before taking a deep breath. Clearly whatever he had to say was going to hurt him a little bit. "Yes, but when I was very small..." He replied.
Alabaster gasped and leaned over to look at Damien. "You never told me that you use to live in the forest!" He exclaimed. "Where did you live?"
"Right about here, near Opal Lake." Damien muttered, his eyes growing distant. He finished his plate rather quickly and stood, bowing to Alabaster momentarily. "Well, once again, that was fantastic! I'm going outside for a moment, I'll be there if you need me." Without another word he left the room and sat outside on the front porch.
Sensing that she may have touched a sensitive issue, Sarah's ears drooped. She left her plate on the table and hustled out after him to apologize. However when she opened the door, she saw that Damien looked very sad. She moved quietly to his side and sat down next to him. "I'm sorry if I upset you, Damien..." She sighed. "You looked so familiar, I just had to ask..."
Damien raised his head and smiled weakly at her. "It's alright, Sarah..." He said. "It's just... I don't know if I'll ever find them again..."
"Who?" Sarah asked, tilting her head to the side.
"My...My family." Damien replied, tears forming in his eyes. "I was separated from them when I was fairly young. I don't know how, or why, but I ended up in the city and never saw them again..." He paused, choking back his tears. "I've been holding all this back until now... It's something I've never addressed... No one knows this but you."
Sarah's ears perked up as he spoke. He was another baby that got separated from their family! She knew it would hurt him to talk about it further, but she had to know if he could remember anything about his incident. "Do you remember anything about them, like names?" She asked.
"My father was named Dei, he was a Zoroark." Damien replied. "He had a brother named Dai who was a shiny Zoroark. He had two kids, who I don't remember the names of right now, but they were shiny Zoruas. I was told that I had a twin sister named Diana, but I never saw her. I think she was wandering with my mother, who was presumed dead after our home got attacked..."
Sarah's heart began to race. She knew those names! She had been saved by a pair of Zoroarks name Dei and Dai! With tears in her eyes, she faced Damien again. "My...My life was saved by a pair of Zoroarks named Dei and Dai..." She replied, shaking slightly. "I didn't see any other Pokemon with them, but I owe them the world for getting me to that Pokecenter the night Alabaster and I were separated from one another. Their quick thinking and kindness is the sole reason I'm here talking to you right now..."
Damien's eyes widened. Tears streamed like waterfalls as he wrapped Sarah in a hug. "I'm so glad that my father and my uncle were able to help you!" He cried. "They were always kind souls that loved to help others! That makes me so so soooo happy! Praise them for their kindness!"
"Wait! Were you taught to sing praises, too?" Sarah squeaked.
"Yes! Yes!" Damien chirped. "Every night we sang praises for all the wonderful things we saw through out the day! It was our way of thanking the world for another day of life together."
"My MOTHER taught us that!" Sarah replied. "Our father didn't keep up with it, but my mother always influenced it! She always said she learned it from her best friend's family when she stayed with them." She paused, pondering a moment. "I...I think her best friend's name was Monica. They were very close!"
Damien froze, his ears drooping slightly. "M-Monica...?" He muttered. "Monica was my mother's name..."
"NO WAY! OH MY GOD!" Sarah cried, grasping Damien in another hug. "If my mother were still alive right now, she would be all over you! She would be completely enamored with you! I can't believe it!" She paused again, her eyes growing wide. "We might have even GROWN UP TOGETHER! That's... That's AMAZING!"
"What's going on out here?" Alabaster asked. He scurried between his sister and his boyfriend and quickly found himself stuck in a very tight cuddle. "Okaaay, now I'm confused and unable to breathe!"
"'Baster, 'Baster!" Sarah cried. "Damien's mother was Monica! The Monica that tried to save mom! The one that taught mother to sing praises! Can you believe it?! Oh my GOD! This is HUGE!"
Alabaster's eyes widened and darted up to Damien. He wrapped his arms around his lover and snuggled up to him. "I always knew you were amazing..." He mumbled. "But to be related to such a heroic Pokemon... Damien... She was an idol! A hero!" He kissed him passionately and held him close. "You are a priceless gem, absolutely perfect. Damien, I'm so blessed to have you!"
Damien grinned through his tears and snuggled up to Alabaster. "And I'm blessed to have you, Alabaster..." He whispered.
After the tears had dried and the talk had ended, the trio wandered back into the house. Alabaster and Damien cuddled up onto the couch as Crystal and Sarah cleared up the dinner table. As they tended to the garbage, Sarah peered in at the pair of foxes curled up in each others embrace. Her brother had picked himself quite a pure gem out of all of the others in the clutch, one that may blossom into something much more than he thought he could ever be.
