(Epic) Bakery Date (2/2)
Chiitra
Chii was relieved. This was the second time she'd done something stupid and almost seriously hurt Ra. Perhaps it was best if she stayed away from him. "I'm sorry you keept getting hurt on my account." she sighed, and fidgeted with her pants. As he offered something to her, she looked up to see the drawing. A smile slide across her face. "Ah, the acursed drawing finally shows its face."
she joked as she took it from him. "This took me weeks to come up with. Which is why I was a little freaked out earlier, trying to find it." She looked up at him. "You're sure you'll be alright?" Looking at Ra it was hard to fathom that he could be capable of similar actions as Sharrif Gowda, her coach. We're they really all beasts on the inside? Was there nothing more?

Rashne
"You worry too much. I'm fine." He said looking at the drawing again. "That's really good. I mean I'm no expert but it looks interesting."
He paused trying to work out whether he should bring up what had been bugging him about what she had said before their collision.
She had seemed agitated about it, he knew as well as any what it was
like to keep things twisted up inside.
"Chii?" He began nervously. "What did you mean by special arrangements?" As soon as the words had left his mouth he regreted them.

Chiitra
The knot in her stomach tightened as images flashed in her mind. Brutal hands, rabid eyes..primal lust. Blood. She lurched forward, hands reaching for the floor, shaky arms supporting an even shakier body. Her hair hung in front of her face, and she could feel beads of sweat form on her brow and down her back. She should have expected it, Ra wasn't an idiot he'd surely have caught on, but she really hadn't expected him to ask. The picture had fluttered away, and her breathing had deepened. "I.....I don't handle being alone with a guy very well..." she began.

Rashne
Ra watched Chiitra's reaction with concern, a knot tightening in his stomach. She was shaking, rather violently. If it had been another friend or his cousin even he would have placed a comforting arm on her shoulder. Her last comment stopped him. He was back to square one, awkward and nervous with not a clue how to react or what to say.
How could you have been so stupid He asked himself wanting the ground to open up and swallow him. Biting his lip he sat in silence feeling useless as always.

Chiitra
Chii tried to gather herself but every time she tried she saw his hands reaching, reaching for her shirt, her hair, her arms...anything...and then she suddenly remembered the feeling of relief she'd felt after telling Pyper. Maybe it would be the same with Ra? But he was a guy...he couldn't possibly understand, could he? Slowly she raised her head, she wanted to see his face, his eyes. Then she would know what to do, how to proceed. He was biting his lip, not really making eye contact and obviously disturbed by her admission. [How stupid, I should have made something up, or ignored the question...] she thought to herself, but deep down some part of her wanted to tell him, wanted to see how a guy would take such knowledge... She stared at him, eyes searching, hoping, waiting for his to meet hers.

Rashne
Ra stared at the floorboards for a few moments. Why had he asked her in the first place? Because he had wanted to help, because he knew what it was like to keep something hidden inside for so long. Finally it began to take over, making life more and more difficult. Slowly he looked up, his eyes meeting hers.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to hurt you...I just..." He paused breathing deeply. "I just know that sometimes it is good to talk about things." Waiting in silence he hoped that had sounded how he wanted it to.

Chiitra
There. Looking into his dark brown eyes the world seemed to melt away to where it was just the two of them. She could faintly hear his voice, but she didn't have to listen, his eyes had already asked her...to continue...to trust him. She stopped shaking, but not once did her eyes leave his. She wanted to see everything. "When I was 12 I joined a soccer team run by a man named Sharrif Gowda, a 20-something olympic hopeful..." she swallowed hard. "..and when I was 15 he raped me." Her hands formed into fists, as tears began falling.

Rashne
Ra held her eyes searching for something to say, something that would help. It wasn't that this was the first time he had heard such things, he wasn't that sheltered. His mother was a women's rights lecturer, but hearing about it on the news and as topical conversation was a world away from hearing that something so terrible had happened to a friend.
Suddenly his problems seemed minor. Throughout his silence he continued to hold her green eyes with his brown ones.
"I'm sorry." He said finally, that was it. What else could he say, he wanted to comfort her in some way. He hated seeing people in so much pain but he felt lost. "It's terrible." He said softly after another brief silence. "When I hear about this I feel so angry."
In his frustration he could feel his grasp of English slipping away from him. "I'm sorry." He repeated watching her tears helplessly.

Chii leaned back on her heels, her tears having turned from sadness to relief. He hadn't rejected her. Instead he'd held her eyes the entire time, as if watching over them. There was no way Ra was anything like Sharrif.

Chiitra
She dared a smile. "You don't need to be sorry Ra; you didn't do anything, and unfortunately you can't fix what did happen." she didn't mean it to sound harsh, she was just being honest. There was no need to feel sorry for her; she needed strength, not pity. "But you are right about one thing, it is terrible. Devastating even. Your whole world is ripped apart. Every guy I met I was secretly terrified of. I would think, 'when is he going to do it. unleash his beast.'. But I have to move on, and if possible grow from this, I'm only sorry I was unable to tell you earlier. It was unfair of me to present one mask but secretly wear another." She brushed the hair from her face.

Rashne
Now Ra looked away, and shook his head. "You had no obligation to tell me." He said sighing. "I want you to know you can tell me anything...if you need to, ever." He looked back up at her, she looked so hurt, he wanted to comfort her in some way, let her know that she had his support. His heart thudding in his chest he forced himself to express what he had been feeling since she had confided in him. "This is going to sound really stupid and possibly patronising. But I don't mean it like that." He blurted in his fast manner. "Do you need a hug? I know sometimes it helps." He mumbled the last couple of words. Highly embarrassed that she would find him condescending or be afraid of him.

Chiitra
Chii's tears has disappeared replaced with an incredibly warm feeling. "oh..th...thank you. *heh*" She glanced off to the side, smiling. "...you can tell me anything too. I'm a good listener."

Her face suddenly flushed with colour. "It...doesn't sound stupid at all. I could really use one." As she said it she caught herself gazing at his arms, his chest...her heart thumped loudly in her chest. It's just a hug Chii. Just a hug, nothing more. geeeez. The mood had turned somewhat awkward as she was unsure whether to lean towards him, or if he'd come to her, or....so she just sat, waiting for him to move first, her stomach full of butterflies. *insert firework explosions* xD

Rashne
Ra blinked he hadn't really thought about her accepting his offer. He suddenly felt even more awkward and uncomfortable, his heart beating faster than before. What should he do? Smiling awkwardly he moved towards her, hoping that she would meet him half way. For the first time in his life he was so nervous and awkward he didn't even think about his own insecurities and physical contact issues.

Chiitra
Seeing him move towards her sent Chii's nerves into a frenzy. Her heart was beating faster, her palms were even a bit sweaty. But none of that mattered, she really wanted, no, needed that hug. She inched closer, and slid her arms under his and up towards his shoulder blades. Turned towards him, her head naturally nuzzled into the spot right beneath his collarbone, over his heart, as her arms pulled him closer. He was warm, so warm, and she could hear his heart beating. It was a little fast, to which she smiled, but it was steady. She was filled with an overwhelming sense of release. Hugs always did that to her, she could loose herself in a hug if she wasn't careful. Her hands grabbed his shirt in an effort to pull him even closer. He was so warm. One of her hands released the shirt clenched tightly there, and as it travelled it ran across skin that was raised where it shouldn't be. Curious but not enough to release his warmth she let her hand rest around his waist.

Rashne
Ra held his breath for a few seconds, he could feel his heart beating in his throat as she pulled him close to her. Her head resting just below his chin, the scent of shampoo and jasmine assulting his senses as he placed one arm around her thin waist the other on the back of her neck. He had never been this close to a girl before, well not one that wasn't family. It was comforting, the gentle rhythm of her breathing the feel of her arms around him.
Then he began to panic slightly, as her hand rested on his back, he realised that she would know. Tensing slightly yet not ready to let her go. He didn't know how or why but part of him didn't care. Slowly he began to relax again.
"We all wear masks." He said softly, absently thinking baout what she had said earlier.

Chiitra
Chii was in heaven. Being hugged by Ra was like being wrapped in a down comforter. She let out a soft coo as she felt his tense, and heard the steady beating of his heart a little louder. She almost didn't hear Ra speak, in fact, all she heard was the word 'masks
Wondering if he was referring to her, or to himself she casually asked, "Do you wear a mask Ra?" It was a little more prying than her normal questions, but then again she wasn't exactly thinking straight wrapped in the arms of a warm, muscle-y guy who smelled really good. She'd completely forgotten about the raised portion of skin she'd felt on his back.

Rashne
Ra stared at the white wall trying to calm his breathing. What was he so afraid of? That she would treat him like the bullies from his school in England. When most people found out they were disgusted, didn't know how to act around him. Or was that all in his head too. She hadn't recolied from his arms yet.
Taking a deep breath he wondered how to start. "Yes, well. I'm not exactly what I seem anyway." He wasn't sure how to continue but this seemed to be a day for revealing secrets. "Do you want to hear, it's not very interesting." He sighed, trying to play down the importance. Maybe she wouldn't want to know.

Chiitra
Chii lifted her head off his chest for a moment and looked up at him. She'd asked the question half in jest, not expecting him to response with a yes, but he had and so she would be there for him as he had been for her. She nodded, "I do, if you're up for telling me." Even if he didn't think it was important she certainly did. As he'd said to her, it was good to talk about these things.

She didn't want to pull away from him, so she left that decision up to him. For the time being she remained there, arms wrapped around his waist gazing up at him.

Rashne
Ra loosened his arms a bit so he could see her properly. Reactions were all important, how was he going to begin.
"You remember earlier you asked me why I wore so many layers when it was so hot?" It was a question but he did not leave enough of a gap to allow her to answer. "And that my Aunt had died. When I was two, there was an earthquake in my town. I don't really remember much. Only that my Aunt was cooking and then I was in a makeshift hospital. The coals or the boiling water must have landed on me or something, I was burnt all over by chest and a bit on my arms.." He paused. The bridge of his nose had begun to tingle and he felt the familiar tears welling at the corners of his eyes.
Forcing himself not to let them free he continued. "They told me, when i was older that I had been trapped for hours, I had deep cuts on my back and legs, I was lucky to survive. Very lucky. My Aunt and cousins didn't make it out alive." Again he stopped watching her for a reaction. "I'm a mess." He added, looking beyond her and at the wall again.

Chiitra
Chii also loosened her arms, but unknowling maintained a grasp on his shirt with her right hand. Her full attention was focused on Ra. She held his eyes the way he'd held hers.

She didn't know what to say, if he even wanted her to say anything. He probably was more concerned with her reactions just as she had been with his. Chii's eyes had begun to well with tears, especially when she'd seen Ra forcing back his tears. She wanted to tell him it was ok to cry, but that wasn't fair, and so, overwhelmed with emotion, she cried; for Ra, for his family that died, for the whole emotion strained day. Her hand gripped his shirt tighter, until she just gave in, leaning forward to wrap her arms around his neck. Not to hug persay, but just to hold him. She spoke softly, "You're not a mess, you're lovely." she instinctly kissed his cheek, "...I know it isn't much, but you really are a truly lovely person." She would have done anything to take away even a portion of his pain, which in her mind was far greater than hers ever could have been. How selfish she'd been to think her experience was so terrible; she hadn't lost anyone dear to her, unlike Ra.

Rashne
Ra stared dumbstruck at the wall as Chii began to cry. The last thing he had wanted to do was to upset her even more. Then she kissed him on the cheek, he felt his face growing red, his stomach twisted into an even tighter knot and he lost his ability to think properly. Why was she being so nice to him. He realised he had never really spoken to anyone about it properly, not his parents, nor the psychaiatrist they had made him see.
Wanting to feel the comfort of their earlier hug he tightened his arms around her again, feeling the tears slide down his cheek. "No, you don't understand. I am really a mess. Physically, mentally." He could hear his voice breaking with the tears so he stopped. "I'm sorry." He managed before his grief got the better of him and he began to cry.
Chiitra
Hearing his tears Chii hugged him tighter, her hands digging into his shirt. She let out a faint laugh. "I'd say we're both a mess.." As she held him, she ran her hand over his back in an attempt to soothe, but as she did so her hand brushed over the raised portion of skin, which she now knew to be a scar. But she didn't react any differently. A scar was a scar to her, it didn't change the person on the inside. She had one too, not that it compared to Ra's by any stretch of the imagination, but it was scar nonetheless. However, she couldn't help but wonder how extensive, and how badly he'd been scarred. Either way she knew he'd probably been ridiculed growing up, which only made her hold onto him tighter.

Rashne
Ra laughed a little, not because anything was funny but because barely a two weeks into his arrival at Aquilla and already he had found someone who understood him enough to feel comfortable with. Funnier of all his confidant was a girl. He wondered what his grandmother would say if she could see him now.
"Sorry." He sniffed. Realising he was probably holding her too tight he reluctantly released his grip. "I get nightmares sometimes. It has been a little worse than usual. I didn't mention it earlier. I got bullied a lot in my last school for it. That's where I started covering up so much. I felt like people would be disgusted if they saw. Like I was from that musical...the one with the guy that wears the mask." He stopped realising he was rambling again in an attempt to lighten the mood. Looking into her eyes once more he smiled. "You don't need to cry for me Chii, I get enough of that done on my own." He said reaching up tentatively to brush a strand of hair from her eyes.

Chiitra
Chii released her grip and relaxed into a kneeling position. "People can be so cruel." Seeing his hand come up to her face, her heart raced. Such a gently gesture, and from a guy... "Do you relive what happend in your nightmares? oh, don't worry about me I'm used to crying. I don't do it so much anymore, but for several months after I was raped I would cry for hours, days even. I didn't go out into public because I was so afraid I'd run into 'him'." Chii paused, a note of hesitation in her voice. "Ra...how bad are your scars?" She braced herself, instantly wishing she hadn't asked.

Rashne
Holding her eyes with his he gave a slight shake of his head.
"I don't know. In my dreams everything shakes, there is a lot of darkness, all I can see is my Aunt, but she isn't moving...I don't know if it is what I saw or something that my brain has made up." He cringed a little, he was about to make himself sound like a total girl. "I wake up crying most of the time...then...I can't get back to sleep, so I run."
Ra nodded in understanding as she told him about life after her ordeal. Why couldn't he be strong like that.

The last question caught him off guard. He frowned slightly unsure whether to answer, but why shouldn't he. It was about time he stopped acting like a child about these things, what was it the therapist had said? realise that they are and always will be a part of him.
"Pretty bad." He admitted. "The worst of it is on my chest though. Most of it is burn scarred, it's not pretty." He winced thinking of the white stretched skin he saw when he accidentaly caught sight of himself in the mirror. "I was lucky though, at least I can keep it covered." He said his lips curling into a grin as he relaxed once more.

Chiitra
"How terrible. Were you very close to your Aunt? I couldn't imagine losing anyone in my family. They're all I have." she stared off at the blank wall. "You run?...oh! So, is that why you were out running so early? I don't like to run, so I eat instead." she laughed. "Which is why I was up at the crack of dawn today."

Seeing him frown at her question she raised a hand to her mouth. She was about to apologize when he answered. She'd only ever seen scars from burns in books. Never in real life, so while her natural curiosity urged her to ask, she refrained, and inwardly scolded herself. "You're a lovely person Ra, and quite pretty in my opinion..." She placed a hand on his chest, "and one day you'll see it. But until then I'll just have to keep reminding you." and with that a big cheesy grin spead across her face.

Rashne
Ra raised an eyebrow, not quite sure how to take her last comment. Instead he laughed and shook his head.
"We make a good pair." He grinned. "And to answer your question. I didn't really know my Aunt, I was too young. If anything was to happen to the rest of my family though I don't know what I would do." He paused again not wanting the conversation to take another nose dive. "Well, you have me." He said shyly. "Any time you want company for an early breakfast...or even to come for a run, or talk...anything. I'm here."
He hoped he didn't sound too pushy. He wanted her to know that he hoped they could spend some more time together.

Chiitra
Chii nodded to Ra's statements about his family. All this talk about families was making her miss hers.

"That I do Ra.." she grinned, and slid her hand into his. "...and you have me."Thinking back on their little trip to the bakery Chii nodded. "I'd like that very much. Although, I don't run very much, but we should certainly play soccer again. I'll make sure not to use any sketchy moves like the last time." Chii took his other hand. "Ra, I want you to know that I'm here for you, anytime, day or night, it doesn't matter. So, if you have nightmares again you come see me and I'll take care of you. Don't ever feel that you're interrupting, or that you're a bother." She meant it seriously, and hoped he'd take it seriously.

Rashne
Ra grinned back, his heart jumping again as she took his hand. The insecure part of his mind began to wonder why a girl as pretty and sweet as Chii would want someone like him bothering her. He pushed the thought away and squeezed her hand lightly. He was no good at this kind of thing.
"It's only a deal if you do the same. Anytime." He smiled, a different part of him decided he quite liked the thought of taking care of Chii. "So," He began. "what now. We've eaten, laughed, cried and discussed our darkest secrets. What do you want to do now?" He stopped again how could he be so thoughtless. "Sorry, that's unless you have other things to do, studying or you want to be alone." He blurted out a panicked look on his face. He always said such stupid things.

Chiitra]"It's a deal." Chii couldn't help but giggle at the look on Ra's face. "Don't worry about it...as luck would have it I don't have anything to do today. I should drop that drawing off though, but after that I'm all yours." Before getting to her feet she leaned forward once more to give Ra a hug, and a small peck on the cheek. She couldn't help it he was so cute! Getting to her feet, she brushed off her pants, and held out a hand for Ra.
[quote="Rashne
Ra felt himself grow red again at yet another peck on the cheek. Just a friendly hug. He told himself. it was just a friendly hug. Smiling he took her hand, out of politeness but mostly used his own weight to get up from the floor. He too brushed off his track pants and straightened his t-shirt.
"Well then, let's go." He said cheerfully. "After you."

- Location: Aquila Academy Garden's
- Medium: AIM

Rashne Kusani (Medea)
It was late when Ra finally woke. Well later than usual. Stretching whilst kicking back his covers he congratulated himself on having made it through the night without a hint of a bad dream. Yawning he stood up off the bed and walked over to the window, pulling back the curtains he was almost blinded by the sunlight.

Once his eyes adjusted he smiled at the sight of clear blue skies. Perfect morning to study outside. Grabbing a towel and his clothes he showered, dressed and grabbed his books from the table. Shoving them in his bag he went in search for a quiet place to catch up with his studying.

Scarlett Quixote (Kaleido)
The rays of sunshine roused Scarlett from her sleep before the alarm sounded. She slipped out of bed and remade it quickly. Laying her clothes out, she hurried off to take a "power shower".

"What a beautiful day!" she sighed, looking out the window. She zipped the back of her skirt up, and checked herself in mirror a last time. Her neglected bookbag glared at her, demanding to be taken with as she planned a day in the sunshine.

"The garden's probably beautiful now," she said hurrying down the hall.

Rashne
Ra was still yawning as he made his way into the quiet garden. Maybe his psychiatrist had been right. Talking about things did help. He hoped that was the case, the last thing he wanted was to have to take the sleeping pills again. Sighing he found a weeping cherry tree past it's bloom and sat down, his back to its trunk.

First things first. He thought to himself as he took out his battered packed of cigarettes.

Lighting up he stared at the high brick walls watching a bird jumping along the top. He hoped his parents stayed in Japan for a while. he really felt at ease in this school, unlike any other he had attended.

Scarlett
Scarlett wandered around the garden, searching for the perfect spot to lose herself for the day. The weather was crisp, and the colors of autumn looked beautiful. Looking around, she noticed the garden was empty.

I guess it's still very early. She smiled. Her mother had sent her new clothes from home, and again, they didn't suit her. Scoping out one of the cherry trees, she selected her location. Taking out a camera, she balanced it ontop of her bookbag. I might as well get this over with.

She adjusted her canary, off-the-shoulder sweater, and pink mini-skirt one final time before setting the timer on her camera.

Click.

Rashne
Ra had been fishing his books out of his bag when the mechanical sound of a camera winding made him jump. Swiftly he took the cigarette from between his lips and stubbed it out on the ground. Standing up he prayed it wasn't a teacher. If his parents found out he would be sent back to Iran on the first flight available.

Standing he brushed the grass off his black jeans and straightened his eqaully as black shirt. Still praying there were no teachers around, he peered round the trunk of the tree. The girl from the other morning, Scarlett seemed to be taking photos of herself.

"Morning" He said to her back, making himself known.

Scarlett
Scarlett nearly jumped out of her skin. She thought she had picked a part of the garden where she could be by herself. Turning around quickly, she almost stumbled forward, catching the heel of her boot in the roots of the tree.

"R-rashne," she said quickly pulling her hair and chunky sweater over her bare shoulders. Oh God... he'll probably think I am completely narcisistic.

"I hope this isn't as strange as I think you might think it is," she said fighting with her mini-skirt to look more presentable. "I-I-- can explain. My mother just sent me these clothes, so she wanted to see how they looked."

She felt a flush quickly rising in her cheeks. Scarlett desperately wanted to be anywhere but standing in front of the nice upperclassman who she keeps making a fool out of herself in front of.

Don't run, you coward. You said you wanted a chance at a new start...

Rashne
Ra watched the nervous girl flounder through her excuses. Inwardly he wondered what kind of parent forced their daughter to wear such kinds of clothes.

"No need to explain." He shrugged. "You want to see some of the stuff my mum makes me wear."

Every time he met Scarlett she seemed like a deer caught in headlights, smiling politely he stepped out fully from behind the tree.

"I'm attempting some early morning study if you want to join me." He said wanting to make her feel comfortable around him.

Scarlett
"I look silly, don't I?" she said taking a deep breath. "My mother means well, but she doesn't realize that I am not into high fashion like my cousins. I really try, but... I'm just not pretty like them."

She bit her bottom lip, as he stepped out from behind the tree. Scarlett was relieved that he was so kind to her despite her constant slapstick comedy routine. Rashne appeared to be handling this transfer adjustment far better than she was, and now he was offering her the chance to study together.

"S-sure, I would love to," Scarlett said smiling. "Sorry, if I disturbed your private time. It was just such a beautiful morning. Are you sure you really don't mind?"

Rashne
Ra grinned and shook his head. Normally he enjoyed his quiet time but the nervous girl looked like she could do with a friend.
"Of course not. Us newbies have to stick together." He said returning to his previous position. "So what subjects are you taking?"

A rather bland question, but he wasn't used to talking to people more nervous than he was.

Scarlett
"I appreciate that," Scarlett said as picked up her camera and bag.

Perfect chance to talk to him. Opening her bag, she took out her book list. Stifling the sigh that was gathering in her chest, she decided that if she didn't start getting her act together, she'd only meet people of chance meetings or the sheer crossing of paths. She desperately wished she had someone she could talk to, but pouring her heart out suddenly would probably send Rashne running the other way.

"I've got math, earth & space sciences, history, computers..." she said reading the list. "Home ec, PE, and ... English. I'll need extra help in English. Sometimes I speak too fast and my accent makes it difficult for people to standunder me."

Rashne
Ra crossed his legs a slight smile pulling at the corner of his mouth as she made the slight English slip. He let it go unchecked. He hardly spoke perfect English himself. He nodded staring across the garden as she reeled off her list of subjects. Many were similar to his own.

"English is hard. Have you ever lived in a native speaking country?" He asked searching within his own bag to see if he could find his reading list to compare lessons.

Scarlett
"Understand me..." she said realizing her error. "I've never lived outside of Spain until now. We had English class at my other school, but like every other subject... I just couldn't do well."

Looking around, Scarlett scoped out an appropriate studying place. Across the courtyard, there was a pond and some picnic tables. The autumn sunshine, clear sky, and fresh breeze was envigorating.

"Would you mind if we sat at those tables over there?" she said pointing. "My poor fashion selection makes relaxing under a tree a bit difficult."

She let out a relieved giggle. Her heart wasn't leaping out of her chest anymore. Conversation wasn't being forced from her lungs. Rashne was cool and collected, and she envied that. She was thankful because he was still there talking with her. Not running away like all the others back home.

Rashne
Listening to her Ra wondered what it must be like to live in one country for most of his life. He was sure that if he had spent seventeen years in Iran his English would be nowhere near as good as Scarletts was.

"Cool." He said putting his books back into his bag and standing. "You should ask your friend to help you out, with english I mean. Brae?"

Standing up from the floor he swung his bag over his shoulder. Being sure to cover the disgarded cigarette end with his foot he gestured for her to lead the way. "This place is great, don't you think?"

Scarlett
"Yes, the school has some of the most breathtaking gardens and landscaping I've ever seen," Scarlett said walking a few paces ahead of Rashne. "As for Brae... we haven't talked since his accident. You know, when he fell out of the tree..."

Scarlett placed her bag down on the bench and took out a handkerchief. Unfolding it, she placed it on the bench before sitting. Unpacking her juice and notebook, she continued talking.

"Where did you transfer from?" she said with a shy smile. "Your English is amazing. Are you Australian, British, or American?"

No sooner did the words leave her lips, she knew that she probably had insulted him.

Rashne
Ra watched her ritual with interest. The placing of the handkerchief on the bench reminded him so much of his cousin. Parisia had little neurotic ticks like that.
Smiling Ra took the seat opposite dumping his bag next to him.
"None." He laughed rummaging in his bag. "I'm from Iran originally, my parents move around though. I lived in England for three years recently. That helped I suppose."
Locating his battered books and a tea stained class schedule he turned back to Scarlett and smiled. "Your English is good, you know. I don't think you need to worry."

Scarlett
"You're too kind," she said pouring some tea from her thermos. "I have a spare cup, would you like some chai tea?"

She took out a second, hand-painted plastic cup, but waited before pouring. She didn't want to seem presumptuous. Flipping through her notebook, she flicked past recipes and dress designs sketched in the margins of what was supposed to be her math journal. Her homework and class assigments were very colourful.

"Thank you for complimenting me," she said smiling. "I mean, thank you for complimenting my English. Wow, you are from Iran and you've lived in England? What things did you do there? Does this make Japan, the third country you've lived in?"

Rashne
"Uh, er yes thank you." He said smoothing out his class schedule whilst racking his brains for a better suggestion of someone to help her with English. Many students at Aquilla were in the same position as they were. As she flicked through her notebook he noticed how creative and creative everything was. Looking at them he was struck with an idea.

"Japan is actually the fifth country I have lived in. England is the longest I've lived in a country other than Iran though." He paused not really wanting to talk about his past schools and lives. "If you need help with your English homework I know just the person who could help you."

Scarlett
"I hope it's not too hot or spicy?" She said setting the cup in front of him. "I made it using a recipe a penpal of my sent me."

Scarlett looked over the water as she sipped her tea. She felt calm and appreciated Rashne's kindness to help her find her an English tutor. She was jealous hearing he lived in several countries. She wondered if she would have been different had she traveled before now.

"Cooking is one of the few things I am good at," she continued. "At least I know I won't fail home ec class. I've been thinking about joining a club or two also."

Rashne
"You have penpals?" He asked. One of his next questions was going to be about her hobbies. Anything to avoid having to talk too much about his travelling experiences. "Which countries?"
He took a sip of the thick milky tea and smiled. It was good, an interesting blend with a good aroma. Almost laughing at himself he placed the cup down and opened his own notebook.. "Yeah, I've been thinking about clubs too. Not sure what to join though." He sighed opening the biology textbook and taking his pen from his bag.

Scarlett
"Yes, I have seven whom I correspond frequently with," Scarlett said. "Chiara in Italy, Thuy in Vietnam, Alicia in Brazil, Iris in Egypt, Frey in Sweden, Shifali in India and Sara in New Zealand. They are all high school or university students who are studying Spanish."

She took out a photo album from her bag. Normally, she wouldn't show her album or letters, but Rashne seemed genuinely interested. She also pulled the ominous math text next. She wondered if Rashne was finding her chit chat boring. At least he seems to be enjoying the tea. She scribbled a quick note to thank Shifali for the recipe and spices from her last package.

"If you are interested you can look at them. We promised each other that we would write only traditional letters. We only send e-mails or text mails to tell the others that we're sending 'suprises in the mail'." she said smiling. "Do you like playing sports? Are you intrested in music?"

Rashne Kusani (Medea)
"Wow." Ra said taking the photo album. "So many friends in so many places." Ra smiled. "That confirms it." He grinned not sure if that was the correct English. "My suggestion for who to ask to help you with English. Did you meet Chiitra? You two would get on well I think." He couldn't imagine anyone not getting on well with Chii.

The next barrage of questions knocked him back a bit. "Um sport, yeah. I play soccer, I run often. Music, usually metal or punk. You?" He asked as ge glanced over the photos.

Scarlett Quixote (Kaleido)
"So many friends, but I've never met any of them outside from their letters," she said sheepishly. "I guess you can say they all live in my mailbox. I'd like to see them one day. I'd love travel the world teaching Spanish or dance, but I'll probably end up just taking over the family restaurant."

She remembered Chiitra. She met her very, very briefly but had to leave before talking to her. She remembered the way she looked sitting under the tree in the garden with her bright, red hair shining in the sunlight. Scarlett hadn't really thought about Chiitra until that moment because their paths hadn't crossed again. She hadn't realized she was running on a tangent.

"The closest I come to sports is watching football on television," Scarlett said in an attempt to be witty. "I was never good at sports, actually I never got invited to play. As for music, I mainly listen to Spanish, classical, or opera. I love to hear songs in other languages, even if I don't know what they are saying."

Rashne
Ra noticed she didn't answer his question. He was being pushy, trying to set her up with help she didn't need and probably didn't want.

"You dance?" He asked tapping his pen on the white pages of his notebook. "That's interesting." He said reaching for things he knew about. His father liked to listen to Opera but Ra had never found it very interesting.

"Taking over the family restaurant wouldn't be too bad right?" He asked absently staring off at the school in the distance.

Scarlett
"Yes, I've studied dance since I was a little girl," Scarlett said flushing slightly. She didn't mean to mention it, or did she? "I'm not very good at all really, but sometimes when I hear music, it's like right now with the scenery here. I just lose myself. I feel really free."

She was relieved that he was mildly interested in her tremendouly boring life. She didn't want to jump to conclusions about Rashne's being quiet. Maybe he was just as shy as she was? Their music tastes were complete opposites and their interests seem completely opposite. Maybe he wasn't interested at all. Perhaps he was thinking about Chiitra, and his mentioning her was his was of telling Scarlett to ease up on the rapid fire interview. That's where Rashne was. He wasn't sitting with Scarlett at this prime location in the school garden. He was off somewhere else with the gorgeous redhead she met the other day. Chiitra.

"Oh, I forgot. I remember your girlfriend from the other day," Scarlett said swallowing hard on the lump in her throat. "I am sorry that I left before we really talked, but I figured you and Chiitra might have wanted some privacy. She seems like a nice girl. I hope I can become her friend..."

Rashne
Dance sounded interesting. Like the kind of escape running gave him. He could definitely understand that feeling of freedom.
Her last comment caused him to almost drop the pretty cup he held in his hands.

"Err...I...umm." stuttered feeling his face flush red. He wasn't sure what to say. This was the first time he had been around girls. "You misunderstood. We're just friends. I brought her up because she has been to some of the countries you mentioned and is really nice. I figured you would get on well with her."

That was the truth, wasn't it. He certainly liked Chii a lot, but was doubtful she felt the same way. Desperate for a change in subject he decided to pick up once more on the mention of her parent's restaurant.

"So You said your parents own a restaurant?"

Scarlett
"OH! Ay Dios Mio! I am so sorry!" Scarlett had once again, completely misunderstood. "I can't believe I said that, Rashne! Forgive me, I'm completely socially inept."

She ran her fingers through her hair before covering her face and laughing. It was going to be a long time before she ever gets the right idea about anyone. She started laughing so hard that her eyes teared up a bit. Scarlett searched her bag for another hand kerchief to wipe her eyes with. Unsuccessful, she used her hands.

"My mother owns the restaurant. It's a flamenco dinner theater, actually, and I used to work there, but," Scarlett said feeling her laughter fade, "My father doesn't doesn't work there at all. He has a different job."

Rashne
Ra laughed with her. "Don't worry." He smiled shaking his head. "A flamenco dinner theatre." He repeated, "Now that sounds like fun."
In the distance he could hear the chimes of Aquilla to signify lunch time. Looking up at Scarlett he winced. "Hey Scarlett. I'm going to have to be really rude. I have a meeting with one of my tutors." He began. A slight lie, but he didn't want to broadcast to people that he was seeing the school shrink. "It was nice talking to you though Scarlett. Hopefully I'll see you around campus?" He smiled throwing stuff back into his bag.

Scarlett
"Well, if you ever end up in Spain, you have to come to my mother's restaurant," Scarlett said smiling. "It's not fun. It's an adventure!"

She knew that the chimes that signalled lunch also indicated that she had just spent several hours chatting with Rashne. It made her happy to finally have a decent, almost natural conversation with a boy.

"Thanks for having tea with me," she said packing her things up as well. "Maybe we can meet again for tea? I mean, if you have time... sometimes. Have a great afternoon."

- Location: Aquila Academy Garden's
- Medium: AIM Chat

November 27-2005
Brae O'Fossen (Rown)
Brae stared at the cast that decorated his right arm, his eyes dull and sad. It had been at least a few weeks since his fall from the tree, yet the school doctors still would not remove the unsightly plaster.

"I can't believe it's been so long and my arm hasn't healed. My Irish luck must have run out a good time ago." He sighed deeply and took a sip from his peach juice carton. No one was around, he was lonely.

Rashne Kusani (Midnight_Medea)
Ra stormed out of the hospital wing his mood as black as thunder. He had spent an hour evading the questions of the school councelor only to discover his mother had been interfering again. Storming down the path heclutched the bottle of sleeping tablets in his had looking for a place to throw them. He couldn't believe her nerve, getting the prescription sent to hin 'just in case.' Scowling he decided to head into the gardens. He was so lost in his anger he didn't notice Brae as he stormed past.

Scarlett Quixote (Kaleidoscopegrl)
Scarlett decided that she needed some fresh air after another failed attempt at studying. After her successful chat with Rashne earlier, she wondered perhaps if he was running about as well. Taking her bag, she headed back down to the gardens. The fresh air and wonderful scenery really refreshed her. I wonder who I'll run into this time... she wondered. Remembering again, that it had been weeks since Brae's fall, and she had yet to see him made her worry.

I hope he isn't mad at me. Staking out the same picnic tables by the pond, she made herself comfortable again. Taking out a cookbook she borrowed from the library.

Brae
Brae looked up as something or someone huffed past, his eyes barely catching a glance at whomever it was. The figure was familiar and the way they moved also seemed to ring a bell, yet Brae could not find the name on the tip of his tongue. He was going to let him pass on and stay alone, but it was the fact that he was alone that made Brae stand up and call after the retreating figure.

"Um...!" He tried to make his voice carry loudly, but it was soft enough to make one wonder what he had really said. Hopefully nothing bad.

Rashne
The small cry made Ra stop, he debated whether to turn around or just carry on. He wasn't really in the mood for conversation. Sighing he decided to turn round anyway. One of his promises to himself was to be more social. His expression softened when he saw it was the boy from the other day. Brae? was that his name?

"Oh, Hi." He smiled shoving the bottle of pills into his bag. He would deal with them later. "How are you feeling?" He asked gesturing to the plaster cast on the boy's arm.

Scarlett
I couldn't possibly be lucky enough to run into anyone, could I? Scarlett mused. It was the first time since she arrived at Aquila that she felt comfortable and even happy. Taking out her homemade lunch, she started to eat. Her cooking rivaled her mothers, but the experience of eating lunch along took the fun out of it. She missed cooking for her family and working in the restaurant. She wondered if Rashne or even Brae would chance her crazy Spanish cuisine. Eating her spicy, chicken-cheese enchilladas she longed for company.

Brae
"My arm? I...I'm okay, the cast should come off in a f-few days. Really, I'm sorry about before." Brae's mind jumped in four different directions as the boy actually turned and spoke to him. He was thinking of how his shoe had fallen from the tree before he himself had fallen, and he wasn't too sure but he did think that Ra and Scarlett had been the ones to carry him from the tree base to the hospice ward. It was only due course to thank him.

"Thank you for taking me to the hospice before, and you hardly knew me. It means a good deal, really."

Rashne
Ra grinned. "Don't worry about it. I have a thick skull." He laughed knocking his head theatrically with his fist. It was a good job he did with the two knocks to his head he had, had in the past two weeks.

"I was glad to help you." He said glancing around. "What are you up to this afternoon? I was just heading to the gardens to chill out a bit if you want to come."

Scarlett
Scarlett poured another cup of pink lemonade from her thermos, relaxing a bit. Biting her lip, she thought back to the chat she had with Rashne at this location. "I should have asked him for his phone number or e-mail. I have no way of contacting him..." she said to herself audibly.

Brae
"T-to the gardens? With you?" Brae's voice waved and stammered as he thought over what the other had said to him. Since leaving the ward he hadn't felt like going to the gardens much, since it was almost always where Xel was lurking in his huffed state.

"Sure...I don't mind going. I haven't been there in a while, and I wonder if my flower has taken time to bloom. It would be good if it has." the Irish youth smiled and gathered his things with his good arm, ready to go. "Shall we?"

Rashne
"Sure." Ra grinned. Starting to walk towards the very spot he had been earlier. The skies were still unbelievably clear and he was actually begining to feel warm in his thick shirt and blazer.

"So Brae, what do you do around here when you have no classes." He asked as the approached the garden entrance.

Scarlett
Scarlett looked over the water as she stretched her arms back over her head. The sunshine felt warm against her skin and she was truly happy. She was having a fantastic day. This was a day that was certainly going down inthe journal. Taking out her pen, she resumed inking a design she was working on for a new dance costume.

Brae
Despite the warmth of the day and the gentleness of everything else, Brae shivered as though his body was ice cold. He was clearly uncomfortable being around Ra, yet he was feeling like he should be polite and bear it out.

"Outside of classes I really don't do much. As of lately with my arm as it is I can't even work in the gardening club, or play the violia." The words were a little bitter as Brae deeply missed being with his friends, the flowers. Eager to change the subject he quickly pushed the topic onto Ra, smiling fakely.

"How about yourself?"

Rashne
Ra was more than aware in the change of atmosphere between himself and the smaller boy. He wondered what he could have said to irritate him.

"Me? Uh, I listen to music or go running I suppose." He shrugged put off by the rather fake smile from Brae. As they walked into the gardens he was actually quite relieved to see a familiar face in the distance.

"Hey isn't that Scarlett?"

Scarlett
Taking a spring clip out of her bag, she twisted her flart-ironed hair up into a french twist. Adjusting the straps of her camisole and pushing her sweater sleeves up, she continued working on her drawing. Her shoulders felt tense, she pressed down on her trapezius, trying to ease the tension.

Brae
Brae looked in the direction that Ra spoke of, squinting his eyes to get a better view. Sooner or later he would have to go in and get his eyes checked since as of late...but it didn't matter.

"Eh...I think that is Scarlett, but then again I don't remember her very well. The first day I met her I fell from a tree and...well...everything became a blur." It was sort of a lie that Brae didn't remember. After all, he had held her hand of his own accord and had eaten with her as well. Of course he remembered.

"Should we go say hello?"

Rashne
"I think so." Ra replied. "I think it would be rude not to." Taking charge of the situation he began to walk towards Scarlett. She seemed to be completely oblivious to their prescence so he called out.

"Hey Scarlett."

Scarlett
Scarlett looked over her shoulder, beaming with a sunny smile. Turns out that Lady Luck was being nice to her today. "Rashne, welcome back! I wasn't expecting to see you again today..."

"...and Brae! Oh my gosh, how have you been? I haven't see you since..." her voice fell off suddenly. "How is your arm?"

Brae
Brae sighed inwardly, his face flushed as he heard Scarlett says his name. He wasn't sure she remembered him, but it maded him happy to know that she did.

"It has been a while Scarlett, so it's good to see you too. I wanted to thank you for taking care of me after I fell....and..." He paused, not really wanting to continue that part. He was going to apologize for running off when Xel and Pyper had shown up, but he felt too embarassed to do so in front of Ra.

"As for my arm, the cast should come off soon. No worries." He smiled brightly, this one real.

Rashne
Ra sat down on the bench dumping his bag next to him as he listened to their exchange. So it was just him that Brae seemed offish with. If it had been a different day he might have been more concerned but after his meeting with the councelor the last thing he needed was more drama.

"So Scarlett. Have you been sat here all afternoon?"
Scarlett
"No, I went home and wrote some letters to my penpals, sent an e-mail to the family-- you know the weekly check-in sort--, and then cooked lunch. Today was chicken and cheese enchiladas." she said smiling. "My speciality from the restaurant back home."

She closed her empty lunch box, and re-wrapped it in it's cloth before storing it in her back. "I just came back becaue this is a prime spot for enjoying the garden. How about you?"

Brae
"I was sitting beneath a tree near the lunch room. Not the tree I fell out of, of course."

Brae chuckled softly at his own little joke, unsure of why he was acting not so nervous. In his right mind he was somewhat terrified to be with these two people, both of whom where older and taller. Not to mention one was a girl and one was a boy, but that could be pushed aside easily.

"Mr. Rashne invited me to come along, and I'm glad I accepted his offer. I got to see you again."

Rashne
Ra almost laughed at the pair of them and their formalities when it came to his name. He didn't allow the laugh to air itself. He didn't want them to think he was crazy. Heh, a grin pulled at his lips. That's just what he was though wasn't it.

"I've told both of you to call me Ra. Only my Mum and Grandmother call me Rashne." He said turning the crin into a smile. "I had the meeting with my history tutor and then I came here. Not sure why really."

Scarlett
"Okay, Ra," Scarlett said smiling again. "Though I do like the sound of your full name, I understand what you mean. I don't have people call me by mine either."

Brae looked different from the last time they had met. She hoped that being in the garden together would make him relax like the last time they were there together. He seemed so distant and different from the last time they met.

"I have some carrotcake that I made," she said pulling out another box from her bag. "and Chai tea. Would you both like some?"

Brae
"Yes....I would like some tea if that's really okay. I'll pass on the cake though, seeing as I've never been fond of carrots or anything with their name."

He smiled faintly, the blush still creeping about his face. "I don't know why I dislike carrots...Ma used to make me eat them everyday when I was little. Must be because of that." He nodded and then promptly sat down, acting and feeling a fool. Any more of this being so nervous and he was sure to run off screaming somewhere. Perhaps he should apologize in adavance...

Rashne
Ra winced. She would be offering cake. The one food he really didn't like.

"Umm, I'm going to have to pass on the cake too." He said weakly. "Nothing to do with your cooking. I'm just not a big fan of cake."

"I'll have some Chai though." He added hoping that she wouldn't be too upset. Sensing the tense atmosphere he decided to ask a topical question. "So, do both of you celebrate Christmas?"

Scarlett
Scarlett took out two cups from her bag. They were hand-painted with bright colors.

"I don't even know why I've been carrying them lately," Scarlett said pouring the hot, spicy tea into the cups. "Maybe I just keep hoping that I'll run into someone to share with."

Scarlett helped herself to cake, as neither of her companions wanted any. She wondered if she would find someone who could share her passion for cooking with.

"I love Christmas," she said smiling. "Unfortunately, in the Quixote house, its more like a three ring circus."

Brae
Brae smiled as the tea was placed in front of him, extending his right arm towards the cup to grab it. When he remembered the hinderance the cast posed he cursed softly and switched tohis left hand.

"We're here to share the tea with you now, so taking them around with you did help in it's own way." Sipping the tea he winced inwardly at the spicy nature. He'd never had Chai before and had only agreed to drink it on Scarlett's behalf. After all, he had refused her cake.

"As for your question Ra, we don't celebrate it much at home. There were too many kids to get presents for so we only did birthdays."

Rashne
Ra too a welcome sip of the tea. As he had thought before, it was a good blend. Using an expensive brand of Chai Masala if his senses were correct.

"This tea gets better each time I try it." He grinned holding the intricate cup in both hands. "I always wondered what a family Christmas would be like." He smiled at both of them. Coming from a big extended family he kind of understood what Brae was talking about.

"I suppose we have Eid ul-Fitr. We give presents then, but that's already been. Are you both staying here during the holidays?"

Scarlett
Scarlett felt a faint flush as Rashne complimented her tea, but Brae's reaction puzzled her. Maybe he didn't really like her after all. He was acting different from the time they were in the garden together which worried her.

"I'm staying here for the holidays, but going home in the spring for Easter." Scarlett said sipping her tea. "I know we just met & all, but how about a mini-gift exchange if everyone's staying around."

Scarlett thought the boys might laugh at her, but maybe they were looking for the same kind of comfort and consolation she was.

Brae
"A gift exchange sounds nice actually. It would be good to finally have a chance to say 'I went shopping for presents.' I feel at least." Brae smiled brightly and sipped more at the tea, slowly getting used to it's tangy and spicy taste. "Though I would have to get a list of what to get you, since I'm bad at-" Before he could finish a high pitched buzzing sound filled the air, followed by several musical beeps. A cellphone ring. Without answering Brae pushed up from the table in excusal. "Oh, I'm sorry about this. I've got to go, it seems like they're finally going to remove this cast. I wanted to stay and talk more...."

At that. Brae drained the last of the tea in his cup and set it down with a huffed bow. "Let's all meet again okay, I was really happy." Not standing for an answer, the Irish youth spun on his heels and tottered off.

Rashne
Ra smiled. "I like the sound of a gift exchange. I've never been allowed to celebrate Christmas so it will be fun." Watching Brae run off he frowned down at his drink. "Do you think I did something to offend him?" He asked. The boy had been so nice when he had first met him.
Scarlett
"I have no idea," Scarlett said taking another sip of her tea. Scarlett tried hiding her disappointment as she watched Brae run off. Her sigh of disappointment was audible though, but only to Ra. Mustering her smile again, she looked up a Ra. Biting her lip slightly, she prepared herself to sort out Ra's holiday present. "He's been acting differently since we took him to the hospital. "

"I don't want to linger on that, though. Maybe he has his reasons." Scarlett said. "You're going to have to tell me more about yourself, Ra. I want your first Christmas present to be memorable."
Rashne
Ra noticed Scarlett's dissapointment as Brae ran off. He wondered what had happened between the two of them. They seemed to be getting on so well last time he had seen them. Then when they had taken him to the hospital.

"Don't worry too much." Ra smiled. "I'm sure he's just worried about his arm or something."

He was surprised that she wanted to know more about him. He wasn't used to getting so much attention. "Umm. Nothing much to tell really." He shrugged. "What do you want to know?"

Scarlett
"Let's see... I know that you play soccer and you like running. Do you have any favorite teams or players?" Scarlett said trying to replay her junoir high school English text in her head. "Have you thought about school clubs? Other hobbies?"

Rashne
Ra thought for a second. Nice simple questions he could answer without getting too personal. Smiling he answered.

"I support my national team mainly. Whilst I was in the U.k I went to a couple of Chelsea matches. Clubs, I haven't really thought about it that much. I was thinking of Science, cooking, soccer. I might give Judo a go if they have it but as I said I didn't really look."

"What about you?"

Scarlett
Scarlett's eyes widened. Rashne was thinking about joining the cooking club? Her heart began beating faster. She flipped open her notebook and scribbled some notes in Spanish in brightly colored ink.

"I've never been good with sports," she said. "I'll probably join clubs like gardening or the astronomy, as there is no dancing club here."

Location:
Ra's temporary room
Medium: AIM
Guest Starring:Chiitra Weatherly Scarlett(Mordavrin)

Oh the Dorama! This is the start of an intense little RP which splits into two parts due to AIM complications.

The very begining is missing . Note to self...*need to ask Rin if she has it*

First three posts missing.

Chiitra Weatherly (Mordavrin)
She could hear someone moving around inside. *gasp* He was home. She'd been secretly hoping he wasn't, why? she wasn't really sure. For some reason part of her was even more nervous to see Ra now that he was privy to some of her darkest secrets, and she to his. [Really, that should make us closer, no?] she wondered, as she straightened out her shirt and fidgeted with her jeans. As the door opened Chii pinced her cheeks one final time to add a bit of colour and smiled.

Rashne Kusani (Midnight_medea)
Ra yawned as he opened the door and almost died of shock when he saw Chiitra grinning back at him.
"Hi Chii." He cried back. His grin broadening. Out of all the people it could have been he was happy it was Chii. "Err do you want to come in?" He said stepping back to make room for her without really giving a thought for the utter state his room was in.

Chii
Chii let out a small giggle. "Why thank you. I'd love to." She gave him a quick peck on the cheek as she passed, in greeting. It was something she was used to and that she did unconsciously. Once inside Ra's room she did a quick spin to check out the place. She grinned again, it was so much like hers. Messy, unorganized, but had an comfy air of 'someone lives here'. She liked that.
Heading straight for the cushions in the centre of the room Chii plopped down and turned to Ra. "I brought something for you." She smiled and immediately started rummaging through her satchel, giving Ra plenty of time to join her or mull about or whatever.

Ra
Ra looked around his room in a mild state of horror it was so messy. He was relieved when Chii didn't seem bothered and even more pleased that she made herself comfortable.
"Something for me?" He ginned sitting down opposite her. He thought he would feel more nervous about having her in his room, especially because of the embarrasing ammount of mess. Crossing his legs he watched with interest as
she searched in her bag. He always seemed to feel completely at ease around her. "What is it?" He asked. Never beeing good with surprises.

Chii
Finally having found it Chii waited a moment before presenting it. "Alright, now this isn't the most wonderful thing in the world, and you actually may already have a lot of this stuff, but well, I figured I'd give it to you anyway. One more can't hurt." And with that she pulled out the tub of cream and presented it, holding it only a few inches away from Ra. She squinted, waiting for his reaction

Ra
Ra raised his eyebrows and took the tube of cream from Chii.
"Thank you." He grinned. "I think." He added playfully as he read the lable. It appeared to be a cream to reduce scarring. As he read it his grin turned to a real smile. "Chii...I." He paused. He was really touched by her gesture. "Thank you. Really. I actually don't have anything. I mean I used to, but I hate doctors so I didn't go back to get a new prescription."

Chii
Chii smiled. "Oh well this is perfect then. It works really REALLY well. I've used it on my scar for ages and now it's to the point that you really have to look to see it." She was so happy to see him like this. "I know what you mean about the doctors. For the longest time I didn't want to go either. Anyway, if you end up liking it just let me know when you need more and I'll have some sent."
Chii leaned back, arms wrapped around her knees. "So, how have you been Ra?" It was a loaded question, she knew it, but she'd tried to ask it in the kindest, most comfortable way possible.

Scarlett Quioxte (Kaleido)
Scarlett finished washing up her dishes. Another culinary masterpiece: Gazpacho andaluz, Roasted red pepper and aubergine salad, and Spanish ratatouille - Pisto Manchego, and saffron rice. She enjoyed the cafeteria food, but at night she always had a hankering for home cooked meals. Divying up the portions, she thought of Ra. Maybe he was hungry, and if he wasn't he could always have it later.

Packing up the tupperware, she slipped on her shoes and walked down the hall to Ra's room. She found his room number in the student directory. Hopefully, he wouldn't think she was strange for showing up at his doorstep. Taking a deep breath, Scarlett rapped gently on the door.

Ra
Ra smiled back at Chii glad to see her relaxing.
"Umm I'm alright." He replied. "They're putting me back on the sleeping pills but nothing new." He sighed. As he paused there was a knock at the door. Ugh, he thought and gave an apoloigetic smile to Chii.

"Probably the men in white coats come early." He laughed standing up and crossing to the door.

He had spent weeks with noone calling and now that he had some time to hang out with Chii, he already had another caller. Pulling the door open he was rather shocked to find Scarlett standing there. Had he told her what room he lived in?

"Uh, hi Scarlett." He said bluntly. Not meaning to sound as surprised as her did.

Chii
Chii laughed at his last comment. "I'm well acquainted with the men in the white coats. They're rather fond of oreos, but you didn't hear that from me." As he answered the door she mulled about on the floor. It was so much fun entering a new room. So many things to look at...She was in the middle of purusing his CD collection when she heard him say a name....Scarlett?

The name didn't sound familiar, but it was to be expected, she didn't know everyone on campus. Suddenly far more aware of herself than before she began fiddling with her shirt and jeans again. She ran a hand through her red hair and pinched her cheeks once again. First impressions were important. Not wanting to be rude, she waited, eagerly for the new person to enter.

Scarlett

"I know you are probably wondering, how I found out where you lived," Scarlett said shuffling her feet."I cooked too much dinner, and figured maybe you could use a homecooked meal. I used the directory. I hope I am not intruding... if you don't want it, I'll understand."

Scarlett held out the neatly wrapped tupperware boxes. They were wrapped in a printed cloth. "You can put it in the fridge, and it should keep for a few days." Scarlett felt the sudden urge to turn around and walk back down the hallway to her room. He looked busy, and her stopping by was obviously rude.

Ra
Ra blinked as she reeled off her explaination. She had brought him food. Slightly embarrased that she had come all this way to bring him food he stepped back from the door.

"Thank you." He smiled taking the wrapped boxes from Scarlett.

"Look, um. Do you want to come in. We can all have a kind of carpet picnic if you haven't eaten already that is." He said politely turning back to Chii and smiling.

"Hey, Chii do you remember Scarlett?"

Chii
Chii walked over to Ra and Scarlett and although she was smiling, a knot began to form in the pit of her stomach. Another girl, what was her relationship to Ra? She was bringing him food so they must be close...all she'd brought was cream. Chii sighed on the inside and did her best to dismiss such thoughts. She wasn't Ra's only friend, she knew that but for some reason this girls presence made her feel so small. [Bah, enough Chii. Get a grip.] Standing beside Ra, Chii faced Scarlett. "No, I don't believe we've met. My name is Chiitra Wetherly. I'm in 2nd level, but this is my first year. It's a pleasure to meet you." There, granted it wasn't her most effervescent greeting, but it was genuine and it really was a pleasure meeting new people. Besides, if she's a friend of Ra's she must be lovely.

Scarlett
Scarlett felt her grip tighten on the box. Ra had company in his room, and she interrupted. The girl who stood next to Ra was beautiful. Scarlett was slightly envious that Ra had invited Chiitra to his room. 'It would figure he's already have a girlfriend,' she thought to herself. They were in the same grade as well. Scarlett wondered what Ra thought of her showing up univited.

"I'm Scarlett Quixote. It's nice to meet you, too." she said trying to keep her hear from gagging her. "I transferred here a few weeks ago, around the same time as Ra. I--I--I'll be right back, I have more food in my kitchen. This isn't enough for three people." Scarlett bolted from the doorway, to her room three doors down. Opening the door quickly, it looked almost as if she dove into the room.

'I can't believe this!? she said pulling herself together. I can't be jealous! I just met them! She ran into her kitchenette to get the rest of the food.

Ra
Ra stared at the empty space his mouth open about to say something as Scarlett suddenly dissapeared.

"Well, um that was interesting." He frowned slightly turning back to Chii, the boxes in his hands. "Um Scarlett's a little wired" He said putting the boxes on his desk and crossing back to the cushions. "Are you alright Chii?" He asked picking up the cream and throwing it onto his bed.

Chii
Chii wasn't quite sure what had just happened; one minute Scarlett was introducing herself the next she'd run off spouting something about food. "It was very strange." She agreed, and moved back to the cushions on the floor, watching Ra as he placed the food and wondering what he meant by 'wired'.

His question caugher her off guard and caused her blush almost instantly. Her whole body got about 10 degrees hotter just thinking about what to answer. "oh...uh...umm..." She stuttered, desperately looking for the words. "I'm fine, just a little hungry. I forgot that I haven't eaten in hours." She tried for a smile. But it was a bold faced lie, she just hoped Ra wouldn't be able to see through it, but he probably would, everyone could. She couldn't help it though, a part of her didn't want to share Ra with anyone. [You're being ridiculous Chii.] she scolded herself. [Just because he shared a deep secret with you doesn't mean he won't talk to anyone. How juvenile.] Clenching her fists she exhaled and tried to centre herself. She needed to be mature about this.

Scarlett
Scarlett took the extra food from her fridge and popped it in the microwave. Calm down. This is a chance to make a new friend. Scarlet continued. If Chiitra was Ra's girlfriend, then she would have to be really nice. She also packed a bottle of her mom's secret recipe sangria, but wasn't sure it bringing would be a good idea. She wondered what the others would think if she brough wine for dinner. It was perfectly normal to have sangria with dinner back home.

"Whatever!" she sighed slipping the bottle into her bag. Taking the carrot cake she baked ealier, she added it to her bag of things to eat. Smoothing down her hair and taking a deep breath, she walked back to Ra's room. "Sorry about that." she said huffing and puffing. "I take meals a bit seriously."

Ra
Ra sat down next to Chii and grinned, hoping to cheer her up. "Hopefully she won't be too long." He laughed. "I've heard she's a good cook."

No sooner had he spoken than Scarlett arrived back bearing a bag of what he hoped was food.

"Hey Scarlett, Um take a seat, make yourself comfortable. I'll go look for some plates." He said standing from the carpet and going to search his designated 'supply' cupboard.

Chii
Chii came out of her daze as Ra sat down next to her. She was being obsurd and she knew it. Time to be herself....and so, she was nothing but smiles when Scarlett returned. Seeing Ra get up to help she decided to stay put, and called Scarlett over to her. "You can come sit right here Scarlett." She called as she patted the cushion next to hers. Just because Chii was comfortable here didn't mean that everyone else was. "So, I take it you like to cook?" she smiled hoping to ease Scarlett's nerves some.

Scarlett

"Cooking's one of the only things I'm good at," Scarlett smiled brought her munitions in and sat next to Chiitra. "Okay, so we have "Gazpacho andaluz, Roasted red pepper and aubergine salad, and Spanish ratatouille - Pisto Manchego, and saffron rice. And..."

Scarlett slipped open her bag and pulled out a colourfully hand-painted bottle. "My mother's recipe for homemade Sangria. It would be sacriledge to have dinner without it. I hope you aren't mad."

Ra
Ra located the plates in one of the still packed boxes his parents had sent him. Taking them out he brought them to where the two girls were sitting and placed them on the carpet.

"Wow Scarlett. This all looks amazing." He said looking from the food to the sangria. "Well, you know technically it would actually be sacriledge for me to have dinner 'with' it." He paused for a second glancing around the room as if wine glasses would magically appear. "Umm I don't have any glasses...would mugs do?"

Chii
Chii eyed the sangria cautiously. She'd had alcohol before, that wasn't the issue, the issue was WHAT alcohol did to her. Slap happy, giddy, overly affectionate....a nut case, that's what she turned into. A grin slowly spread over her face. "Mugs would be perfect." she chimed. If anything the sangria would certainly help lighten up the mood. She turned to Scarlett and smiled. "Everything looks and smells fantastic. I was never any good at cooking....building things yes, cooking no." she shrugged and laughed.

Scarlett
Scarlett smiled. It relieved her to hear compliments on her cooking. Hopefully the smell and taste would match. She felt slightly guilty because she didn't know that Ra didn't drink, but luckily Chii's enthusiasm saved her from looking like a 15 year old alcoholic. "I have a non-alcoholic version, too. Just grape juice. I take it with me sometime when I am wandering around campus." She said holding her breath a bit. "I don't have appropriate glass ware for the occassion either. Also, mugs would be less suspicious if someone stopped by. Not that I speak from experience or anything." Scarlett smiled and helped prepare plates for Ra and Chii.

Ra
"I said technically." He laughed grabbing three clean mugs from a shelf. "I do a lot of things I 'technically shouldn't"He continued sitting on the floor opposite and placing the mugs down. The food smelled delicious and as for the alcohol, his friend Saj used to have parties all the time. Besides it would give him another excuse not to take the sleeping pills.

"Shall I pour?" He asked trying to make himself a bit more useful. He wasn't sure what else to say. Maybe conversation would come easier once they began eating....and drinking.

Chii
Chii felt somewhat awkward now, Ra was helping with the drinks and Scarlett was doing the food....and Chii, she was just sitting there waiting. hmmm...."Should I put some music on? Just in the background?" Music was always a good idea.

Scarlett
Scarlett became absorbed in the moment. Cooking meals and sharing them with company was something she lived for. She finished serving and set the plates in front of Chii and Ra. "I hope you enjoy it." Scarlett though for a moment before continuing. "Chiitra, have you always been a student here?"

Ra
Ra finished pouring the drinks and looked up as Chii spoke. He smiled. "Sounds like a good idea Chii. My CD collection is in the box behind you. I'm not sure if there is much background music though...there might be some Iranian folk stuff that my Mum gave me."

He wasn't sure he was going to make many friends if she pulled out any of the heavier stuff. As he set the mugs down on the mat it struck him, had they spoken about music? That was usually the first thing on his list of things to speak about with people. "Choose whatever takes your fancy." He grinned sitting down and crossing his legs.

Chii
Chii spun around and headed towards his CD collection. Hmmm....what to pick, nothing too crazy, but no elevator type music. Flipping through Chii stiffled a laugh as she passed over the folk music. She saw some 70's rock (good stuff), punk (good too)....then she found it. Plucking the CD from the collection she raced over to the machine and popped in the CD. A few moments later the unmistakable lead singer of Rammstein could be heard. Grinning she rejoined Ra and Scarlett. "I hope it's alright, it is a little hard but it's suuuuuch a good CD. Taking a plate and mug from her companions she turned to Scarlett. "I just transferred here this year. So, nope I'm as new as you!"

Scarlett

Scarlett almost dropped her mug. She had never heard of the band that Chiitra selected. She wasn't sure if she even knew what was being said in the song. She thought it was interesting, but not really her style at all. "Really? You just arrived too?" she said returning her attention to her drink. "Which country did you come from?"

Ra
As the sound of a pulsing base rose from the stereo speakers and the deep German tones filled the room Ra grinned across at Chiitra. "Good choice." He said slightly nodding his head in time with the music. Of course he had no idea what was being said but that didn't matter. It wasn't exactly what you called dinner music but hey, it was better than the Iranian folk s**t his mother sent him.

"Hey Chii. Me and Scarlett were discussing Christmas the other day." He began, taking a sip of the sangria and edging a plate of food closer. "Are you joining your parents for Christmas?"

Chii
Chii smiled at Ra in between bites. "I came directly from New Delhi, India." She took another bite completely absorbed in her food. "This is really, really good Scarlett. Wow." Rocking her head to the music she took a sip of the sangria, savouring the flavour. "Christmas? Oh, well actually I haven't decided. My parents said I'm more than welcome to join them, they'll be in Brazil, or they said if I want to I can stay here or go home with a friend. So, yeah, haven't really decided yet. I was going to wait until I knew what others were doing. What are the two of you doing for christmas?"

"My parents usually have a large family gathering at their house, but this year, my mother's restaurant has been booked solid through the New Year with holiday parties, weddings, and such," Scarlett said finishing off her first glass of sangria. "And my father has a tournament, but I never go to those anyway."

Scarlett was so happy that Chii and Ra were enjoying her cooking. She made a mental note to make extras more often, so she could stop eating all her meals alone. She would have to gauge Chiitra on her dessert and tea consumption. Perhaps, she's have more luck with her pastry concoctions than she did with Brae & Ra. She would have to start taking notes on what kinds of foods they were interested in.

{A couple of hours and muchos sangria later}

[quote"Ra"]Ra sat on the window seat, the window was wide open and it was rather cold outside. A cigarette in his mouth, he fought to keep the flame of the lighter steady. This was his third attempt. Managing to light up he placed the lighter down and exhaled the smoke into the night.
"So, who do you think would win in a fight...Marge simpson or Hello kitty?" He asked in somewhat shaky English. It had been a while since he had drunk this much and he was begining to think he shouldn't have. (music is now the Prodigy)

Chiitra Weatherly (Mordavrin)

Chii had been off in her own world (staring at him) when Ra asked the question....she gave it a moment before answering. "I think Kitty would...'cause she has all those friends. Besides she probably knows a martial art or something..." Random? yes, drunk? almost. Chii had gathered a bunch of pillows near her and was spralled out over them.

Rashne

Ra considered her answer seriously as he rested his ashtray on his knee.
"Good point." He said thoughtfully. "She's quite small though isn't she. I mean Marge could probably tread on her...but then I suppose there are the leigons of Sanrio to think about." Pausing to take a thoughtful drag on his cigarette he stared out of the window. His brain suzzing over. "What do you think Scarlett?"

Scarlett Quixote (KaleidoscopeGrl)

Scarlett giggled. Her vote was completely with Marge Simpson. The long legs and bride of Frankenstein hair, there was no way for little Hello Kitty to compete. "Marge would eat her for breakfast on a Sunday morning before church," Scarlett said washing up the dishes in the kitchenette. Her impromptu meal was a complete success. "What's the judge's verdict, Ra?

Brae O`Fossen (Rown)

Brae moved his fingers open and closed as he walked around, finally happy to be rid of the cast. It had been a bother for so long, and now that it was gone he felt a sense of peace. He had spent most of the day after getting it off dealing with flowers, and now he was ready to go back to his room. It would have been a perfect day...if he hadn't heard a loud voice above him. Or voices, should he say.

They all sounded famiiar....mainly the one closet to the window. Ra, wasn't it? Brae would have liked to see him again and apologize for some reason, though he wasn't sure. None the less...he found himself heading towards the window bottom and shouting up. "He....hello?"

quote="Chiitra"]
"Oh course you've got to worry about the legion...I mean, there's the black cat, the frog, a dog, a monkey, a panda, a deer, another kitty...I think there's even a bear. Size has nothing to do with it..." Brushing her hair from her face she sat up, indian style on her bed of pillows and stared at Ra as he puffed away. A warmth rose within her, if it was even possible since the sangria had raised her body temp to almost boiling!

Just then she heard a voice shouting which sounded like Brae. Chii cocked her head to one side. "Is that Brae?" Quickly getting to her feet she ran over to the window and leaned over Ra not really watching where she leaned or where her hands went.

Rashne

Ra's numb brain was trying to weigh up the pros and cons of big blue hair Vs the warriors of Sanrio. When he heard a shout below him. Not thinking too clearly he looked out into the night rather than down as he should have.

He heard Chii's voice say something about Brae and then was very aware of her leaning against his knee to look out of the window. His heart picking up speed he followed her gaze to the grass below. Where the small figure of Brae stood.
"Hi Brae." He called. "Come on up...room ???.'

Scarlett Wrote:
Scarlett's attention was pulled over to Ra and Chii from the dishes. She felt a flush in her cheeks seeing them so close to one another. Seeing them together sent a pang of jealousy into her heart. They didn't say anthing about being a couple, but Scarlett saw how naturally comfortable they were with one another. It wasn't as forced as it was between her and Ra.

She sighed softly. She heard them talking to Brae, and from the sound of it, he was coming to join them. "Would you be up for some tea and dessert. I have some stuff in my room I can go and get..."She needed to cool her mind off and sober up a little so as to avoid making a fool of herself.

Brae Wrote:
"Come up?" Brae raised his hand to the level of his eyes, peering into the darkness. He could make out Ra's form, and someone who was sitting on him at least, from his view. "Sure, if you don't mind my company." Brae's voice echoed in the cold night, so clear and crisp. The stars were out and pretty and he would have liked to sit on a roof and watch them, but it would be rude to refuse an invitation. "I'm coming up now, I'll be there in a moment." He waved his arm to let them know he was walking up and out of sight, a paled creep of a blush on his face. though he had remained calm, Brae was scared. He hoped it wasn't just Ra alone...

Chiitra Wrote:
Chii grinned. She hadn't seen Brae in ages, and besides, this party could use another male in it. Having fully extended herself over Ra's knee, Chii placed her right hand on Ra and braced herself against his shoulder so she wouldn't fall as she tried to regain her centre of balance.

Once having gotten over, Chii turned to her right in order to get the door for Brae when she realized how close to Ra's face she was. Her face flushed, and normally she would have jumped away, but now she was just standing there inches from his face, with a big goofy grin plastered on it. Slowly, she leaned forward and planted a kiss on his nose. Then leaned back and laughed. "KAWAII!!" Then, after cupping his face with her hands she darted off towards the door so as to let Brae in.

Rashne Wrote:
For Ra the whole moment passed in a bit of a blurone moment Chii was leaning over him, the next thing she had kissed him on the nose and danced off saying something he didn't quite understand.
He felt a burning blush creep up from his neck and light his face. Staring dumbstruck after Chii he stubbed his cigarette out in the ashtray.
"No, problem Scarlett." He said distantly. "You've done enough cooking thins evening." Pausing he dragged himself back to the room. "It just so happens that I am a tea expert." He said grinning at the Spanish girl.

Scarlett Wrote:
Scarlett's heart stopped at the sight of Chii and Ra mere inches away from one another. She was relieved that she had put Ra's dishes away or she would certainly have dropped them on the floor. Tearing her eyes away from the scene, she just walked back to the cushioned area on the floor and sat down. Her heart danced a jig in her throat. She was trapped in a room with a couple, and now Brae was joining them as well. She was relieved to hear that Ra was a Tea Master. Maybe a cup would calm her nerves. "Would you mind if I brought some cake from mine? I'm in the mood for something sweet after a spicy meal..."

Chiitra Wrote:
Having waited several minutes for Brae to come to the room Chii stepped out into the hallway, glancing quickly up and down, then stepped back into the room, shrugged and turned to face Ra and Scarlett.

At the mention of cake, Chii was all ears. "oooooo, I'd LOVE some cake." She said with a grin. "I'm a total sucker for sweet stuff." As Scarlett left the room, Chii walked over to Ra and watched him Just being around Ra gave her butterflies, which really puzzled Chii since up until now she'd only had butterflies like these for Jun. He seemed like a distant thought now. So much had happened, stuff that she'd wanted him to be a part of. But he wasn't here, Ra was and that thought alone gave her so much comfort and strength. She thought back to that day they went to bakery, how warm he'd felt asshe'd hugged him, how much her heart had ached when he cried. As she watched him a thought crossed her mind...Did she? She couldn't possibly..? No way, she though to herself...Do I have a crush on Ra? Her face flashed red, and all she could do was lean forward and try to hide her most obvious lack of composure.

Rashne Wrote:
Ra stood from the window and paused for a moment the whole room appeared to spin breathing deeply he tried to shake the fuzzy feeling from his head. "Umm, If you want cake. Go ahead." He smiled feeling his way along the wall to his tea chest. This was excatly how he usually felt after taking the pills. Huh, maybe he should just drink instead. Shakily he dropped to his knees and opened the wooden box. As he searched for the tea he was looking for he noticed Chii standing over him, also somewhat shakily.
"You...should....sit" He said stilted as he grabbed her hand and pulled her down next to him. "I'll show you how to make the best tea in the world." He grinned trying to focus on the different boxes.

Scarlett Wrote:
Scarlett placed her dishes on the counter. She was relieved that Ra and Chii really enjoyed her dinner. She chalked a tick mark in her cooking journal, indicating that tonight's menu was indeed a success. She did, however, put a red "X" next to the sangria. Though she did enjoy it, she was certain that drinking with her friends might not be a smart idea. Especially when they are underaged.

Opening the refridgerator, Scarlett pulled out her caramel praline cheesecake. Taking a swig of ice water, she gathered her things and returned to Ra's room.

Chiitra Wrote:
The next thing she knew Ra had grabbed her hand and pulled her down beside him. She tilted her head up slightly so she could see what he was doing, but not give away her thoughts by letting him see her face clearly. Inside the box were all sorts of tins and little tools. She smiled. It reminded her of her work bench, only in mini. It would appear that Ra was a craftsman too, only with tea instead of wood. She inched closer to him, and the box eager to learn. "Where did you learn how to make tea?" she squeaked, suddenly more shy than she'd been all evening.

Rashne Wrote:
Ra smiled staring into the box. He felt comfortable again with Chii next to him. More stable.

"My Grandparents run a teahouse back in Iran." He said picking up one of the pots of black tea. "I've been brought up knowing all about tea." He paused moving someof the other tins aside. "They want me to take it over when I finish school." He frowned pulling out the small silver tin of rose petals.

"Do you like tea Chii?"

Meeting Ceara (1/2)
Ceara Sorrinson (Awyndion)
The smell of sandalwood oil rose around Ceara, she loved that smell, and it had been to long since she had worked with it. Thinking on that recalled her to how long she had neglected her bow. It was not that classes took up much of her time, or homework either, it just seemed that she was always doing something, either that or she was sleeping. That was no excuse for her to be so negligent though. After dinner she had the sudden urge to go shoot, but after taking in the condition of her bow, she wasn't about to expose it to the sudden stress of work after such a long time simply standing in the corner of her room. Instead she had taken it, a roll of new line to string it with, and her jar of sandalwood.

She had walked around for a while thus, unstrung bow in hand, line hanging from one pocket and the jar in the other hand, simply looking for the best place to set up shop. She hated working inside, beneath the harsh artificial lighting of the buildings here abouts, she felt clastrophobic. Outside though she could breathe and recall some kind of ease to her self.

Now with the full length of the bow laying across her lap, Ceara massaged the oil into the wood, working the supple nature back into its length. The monotony of the work as ever let her mind fly free.

Ra walked through the campus like the living dead, or at least that was how he felt. His head was pounding, his brain felt thick and heavy. He had spent the last half an hour trying to find somewhere quiet to sit. Maybe write a letter to his cousin. Not that he would be able to concentrate.

Due to the nice weather the gardens had been packed as has the playing field. Walking towards the library he noticed a small courtyard. One girl was sat there, with what looked like a bow across her lap. She appeared to be completely absorbed in her work. Shrugging Ra crossed to the courtyard and took a seat on one of the free benches.

Ceara
The silence had brought Ceara here, otherwise she would be found in the garden currently, but it seemed too many peopled thought the garden a fine place to be, and it was far from silent there.

When Ceara thought of silence, it was the absence of inane insepid or simply annoying voices around her; the sound of birds chirping, leaves blowing, or simply the earth turning, those all counted in as part of the silence Ceara sought.

Her mind so aborbed in the silence of her work and the workings of the world around her, it was no surprise to her that she was brought up and out of her every by the sound of footsteps. Ever had she been one to take into account every sound about her, harboring in her an accutate sense of hearing. Despite the disturbance though, her work went on un-ruffled.

Grey green eyes though cast up through a curtain of bangs to look across the courtyard at the young man who had in some sense invaded her silence. Cocking her head slightly at him, her hands still moving rythmacly along the smooth surface of her bow, she simply looked at him for a moment. It was a wonder such a young man did not have a covey of girls about him, as Ceara had so often observed with other young men. But no, he was seemingly content on his own right now.

Rashne
Ra was too out of it to notice the strange girl watching him. He was battleing yet another mild wave of nausea. Groaning inwardly he folded his arms on his lap and placed his head on them. This always happened when they put him back on the sleeping pills. A good nights sleep almost wasn't worth it.

He sat there in silence controlling his breathing and trying to focus his mind on other things. Inside his head a voice told him he should go and see someone, talk to take his mind off it. He ignored it. The only person he could talk to was Chii and she was the last person he wanted to see him like this.

The sickness passing, calmed by the soft scent of sandalwood he raised his heavy head and reached into his bag for the bottle of green tea he had brought from a vending machine earlier.

Scarlett Quixote (KaleidoscopeGrl)
The gorgeous weather lured Scarlett out of her room again, however, to her disappointment, the garden was packed with students. Feeling adventurous, she decided to veer away her normal hangouts of the library and the garden. She spent the morning making fresh hummus and chapati from scratch, using a recipe her penpal Shifali sent to her.

She mused about her previous conversation with Brae and Rashne. They had decided to exchange Christmas presents. She was up late last night using her new laptop to do brainstorming for holiday shopping. She has decided what to get Ra with complete ease, but Brae's present was puzzling her. She decided to seek out a quite locale, and came upon a realtively empty courtyard. She saw only two other people, Ra and another girl. They were sitting apart from each other both in worlds of their own.

It was her instinct to immediately flock to Ra. He had become her safe zone because he was one of the first people to really talk to her. Scarlett decided, however, to introduce herself to the girl intently polishing her bow. She pushed her curls off her shoulder, sighing in resolution to make a new friend today.

"Hello, this is a beautiful courtyard," she said straining to keep her courage. "My name is Scarlett. I just transferred here a few weeks ago. I hope I am not interrupting you."

Ceara
Having been about to turn her full attention back on her bow, finding the boy uninteresting, his movement stopped her. His arms wrapped bout his middle and head upon his knees, he was obviously ill at ease. She wondered if she should find out if he was okay, but the thought of being near him if he puked made her want to gag, but then again, if he needed help, she couldn't very well just sit by.

Her indecision was pulled up short by the intrusion of anothers voice. Ceara had been so intent on her need to make a decision as well as the boy himself, she had not noticed the approach of another.

Looking up at the girl, her bangs fell away from her eyes to look at her fully. The girls words puzzled her, looking from her to her bow, she wondered if the girl was serious in asking if she was interuppting Ceara. A rueful smirk came across her lips at the thought though, only a few months ago Ceara would have answered with a blunt 'Yes you are interupting me' and then gone back to her polishing. She didn't know if it was the school or the people she had met here, but she was more, not quite personable, but more open to the possibility of being sociable.

Standing up, for she hated talking up to people in any sense of the word, she slowly dusted herself off, keeping her bow clear of the ground.

"Nice to meet you Scarlet, I'm Ceara." She was about to offer her hand in greeting, but absetnly realized it was all greasy, and instead just nodded her head, dropping her hand to her side. "I myself am a transfer, though I think I've been here a bit longer, if not by much." She said shrugging indifferntly.

Rashne
Taking a mouthful of tea Ra leant back on the bench. Out of the corner of his eye he noitced Scarlett appear in the courtyard. Looking at the floor he tried not to make eyecontact. He wasn't in the mood for her energetic eagerness this morning. Luckily her attention seemed to be drawn to the other girl.

Leaning on his knees and keeping his eyes on the ground he half listened to their introductions. He became slightly more intrigued when he heard the girl's familiar, flat English accent. It reminded him of the country that had been his home for three years. For the first time in a while he thought of his friends there, half way across the world. He contemplated joining them for a second but changed his mind as yet another stabbing headache assalted him and he returned his head to his hands.

Scarlett
"Ceara's such a pretty name," she said smiling. She worried if her thick Spanish accent made her sound ridiculous. Ceara's height surprised Scarlett. The new acquaintance was very tall, but rose to her feet with the grace of a willow tree. The bow held in her hand suited her. Scarlett wasn't upset that Ceara dropped her hand, she's done the same thing in the past when new customers or friends showed up while she was working in the kitchens of the family restaurant.

"I'm sorry if I seem nervous or chatty," Scarlett said, trying not to be discouraged. "I am just looking to make a new friend today."

Scarlett felt her heart sink. As the words left her lips, she realized that her brain and mouth were not communicating with each other. She cursed the stupid English conversation books her cousins bought her. She's going to think you are being a complete SWF (Single White Female; Spanish Weird Female). Scarlett need to think fast if she was going to pry her foot out of her mouth. Running her fingers through her hair, Scarlett smiled.

"You transferred here, too?" she said. "Where are you from?"

Ceara
Ceara was about to cross her arms, just listening to Scarlet go on, but then she realized she had her bow in her hand. Looking down at her bow she smirked slightly, it seemed so like a part of her,
she shouldn't be surprised that she forgot it was there. Turning back to Scarlet,
she instead just settled back on her heels, trying to seem polite, rather than amused.

"No reason to apologize, you are obviously making and admirable attempt at
intigrating into the school." She said her voice was openly amused, though she
tried to hide it. Watching the girl get flustered though, floudering behind her dark eyes, Ceara could not help but take pity on the girl. "But hey honestly your fine." She said shaking off her amusement. Ceara knew she was bad at putting people at ease, she cursed her ineptitude with people every time she met some one knew, but most of the time she was content on her own. But here she was again, thrown into another meeting and stepping all over her toes and those of Scarlet, who was making a valiant attempt to be sociable.

"Yeah I transffered." She said grasping for the change in subject. "All the way from merry old London." She said tipping her head slighlty toward scarlet and lifting her left hand in a mopcking rendition of a salute, palm out and all. "What about yourself?"

As she spoke though, her eyes caught onto the boy that was still sitting on the bench across the way. She again wondered if she should do anything. Maybe Scarlet would do something, so she didn't have to. That thought made her glare at herself, she was being lazy.

"Hey do you know that boy?" She said trying to apologeticaly intervene into their conversation and knowing she was failing. "He doesnt' look so hot." she said simply.

Rashne
Absorbed in trying not to either pass out or
vomit. The girls voices became a blur. Why did he do this to himself? Surely not taking them was better, anything that made him feel this sick couldn't be good.

Taking deep breaths once more he tried to clear his mind. Like the alternative therapist had told him. Think of nothing but rivers and clear skies. The stabbing pain dissolved back into a pulsing thud.

Scarlett
Scarlett turned quickly when Ceara mentioned that Rashne didn't look well. Having recently befriended him, Scarlett wanted to help him. He had been so kind to her in helping her adjust to her new life, and she thought he would do the same for her had their places been reversed.

"His name is Rashne, but he goes by Ra," she said, feeling her smile drop. "He transferred here the same time I did. He just spent three years living in England."

Scarlett froze. She didn't know if she should help him or not. Shaking her uncertainty off, she took a deep breath.

"Would you mind coming to check on him with me," she said biting her lower lip. "Just in case something is wrong..."

Ceara
Looking at Scarlet while she filled her in on the boy's person, Ceara just nodded, occasionally looking back to where Ra was sitting. "Yeah sure I don't mind coming over there with you."

Ceara's self was getting the better of her, she wanted to help Ra, he looked like
he was either sick or...well he just looked like he felt like crap in general.

Instead of waiting for Scarlet to lead the way, which she would have usually done, seeing as how the girl obviously knew the guy, Ceara instead took the first steps towards him.

Rashne
The movement in his general direction brought Ra back to the courtyard. Glancing sideways he noticed that both Scarlett and the other girl were making their way towards him.

Great he thought to himself, wishing he had stayed in his room. I suppose.

"Hi Scarlett." He said weakly his eyes moving from the new tall girl to the familiar shorter one.

Scarlett
Scarlett followed Ceara quickly. She knelt down because she didn't want to make Ra feel crowded. Scarlett was eye level with him, but not too close.

"Hey, Ra. Are you feeling all right?" she said. "Do you need anything?"

Rashne's smiling face indictated that he was everything but all right. Scarlett knew her question must have sounded obnoxious. She wanted to help him, but was afraid that he might become upset. She put her hand carefully on Ra's forearm, close to his wrist.

"Can I get you a glass of water or something?"

Meeting Ceara (2/2)
midnight_medea
Waking from a weakness induced sleep Ra looked at his clock. It was five pm. He had managed to sleep the whole afternoon away without one nightmare. Sitting up and running his fingers through his chin length hair, he took note that his head still felt fuzzy. As if it was packed with cotton wool.
Nothing a bit of fresh air wouldn't clear. Stretching he grabbed a hooded sweatshirt from the floor and pulled it on.

Swiftly he picked up his bag, shoved a textbook and his Arabic version of Harry Potter inside and grabbed a black scarf from the back of his chair. It was December afterall.

Outside it was cool, with the sun still casting some warmth over the grounds of the school. Slinging the bag over his shoulder he jogged down to the gardens. They were thankfully deserted compared to earlier in the day. Sitting on one of the benches he took out the book and opened it to the first page.

Scarlett Quixote (KaleidoscopeGrl)
Scarlett had spent way too long writing e-mails and surfing the internet instead of studying like she intended. Arturo's e-mail about the new production the restaurant was preparing, made her long for home. She had ordered another pair of flamenco shoes despite having five pairs with her at school and plenty more back at home. She was sad that she would miss her first production since she started flamenco over ten years ago. She hadn't practiced much since she arrived at Aquila though the wooden floor of her dorm was was quite tempting. As she had tenants below her, stomping around would not be a way to make new friends.

Packing up her books, she made a note to seek out a school shop or stationery store. Her pens were quickly running out of ink and she needed more notebooks for class. Not ready to return to her room, Scarlett wound her scarf and put on her white beret. The cool weather forced many of the students to return to the dorms early. She was relieved that she, too, would have the chance to enjoy to last few days of autumn.

Seeing couples and packs of students flooding toward the cafeteria and library, Scarlett headed out to the gardens. Across the way, she saw Rashne. She wanted to check up on him, as he ran off so quickly earlier.

"Maybe just a quick 'hello'." she thought.

Ceara Sorrinson (Awyndion)
The slowly waning sunlight cast its last sembalance of warmth over the now mostly deserted garden. The branches of the trees swayed softly with a cool breeze. The sleeves of a black pull-over dangled from a low tree branch, seemingly haphazardly and forgotten. A pair of legs though dangled just above that branch, shod in nothing but bareness. Legs swinging as if with the movement of the breeze, Ceara was totally relaxed, the breeze felt good on her body, now less drenched in sweat than it had been. Her arms tingled slighlty with the awakenings of soarness, and it felt great. Shoulders bare to the coolness, she could not stand the thought of putting on her pull-over just yet, she was still warm from her stint at the archery feild. Having been pumped up after the few hours at the range she had run back to her room to deposit her gear and return to the out doors with nothing to do but let her mind play.

Movement below brought her attention back earthward and leaning over to rest her stomach on the branch she looked down on Ra and Scarlett. A smile played across her face that was only slightly predatory. One of the reasons she loved sitting in the trees so much was this very reason, she could look down on the comings and goings around her with relative immunity to their attention.

Rashne
Ra was completely absorbed in his book. He had purchased it from the airport book store on his way to Japan from England. His cousin was obsessed with the magical books and was determined to learn english just so she could read them. R took up this idea. It was probably one of the only ways he would be able to keep up with his languages.

Oblivious to his surrondings, the girl unseen in the tree and Scarlett approaching from the boundries of the campus haven, he turned the pages and his eyes glided over the pages. Now and again he would come a cross a word or two he didn't know and curse that he had forgotten his dictionary but it didn't matter too much. As long as he could get the main gist of the sentence it was all good.

Scarlett
Scarlett looked around before walking up to Ra. She stopped about two meters away from him, taking a deep breath. She pulled her black and white peacoat closed and tied the sash around her waist. Seeing that Ra was absorbed in his book, she also adjusted her scarf and beret.

"Hey Ra," she said trying to smile. "Sorry to bother you, just wanted to see how you are feeling. Looks like you are better, so I am going to go now."

She remembered that her concern upset him earlier, so she tried to keep her voice as indifferent as possible. She didn't take a seat, but instead, turned on her heel and started to walk off. Wrapping her gloved hands around the strap of her shoulder bag, she looked around for a empty picnic table across the courtyard. Staking out a prime location under one of the trees, she sat down and took out her thermos of hot tea.

Ceara
Ceara watched the play of Scarlett trying not to be cloying, and succeeding in being short. Ceara smiled slighly as she rested her chin on her folded hands, watching Scarlett come towards the tree of her own inhabitance, Ceara wondered if she should talk to the girl. Scarlett was trying so hard to make freinds and at the same time not alienate any one, Ceara felt a slight amount of pity for her in that moment. When the girl sat down, Ceara looked around for something in her tree top get away, apologizing to the tree she plucked an acorn of its branch and dropped it down in front of the girl on the table. Looking down Ceara waited for a reaction.

Rashne
Ra looked up as Scarlett approached him. He was about to reply to her greeting when she rushed out the sentence about him feeling okay and hurried off. Taking his time he placed the reciept bookmark between the pages he was reading and closed the book.

Sighing he rolled his eyes to the fading blue sky and stood. Why did girls have to take everything so personally. The book still clutched in his hands he made his way over to her table.
"Hey, Scarlett. Thanks. Sorry I ran off, I guessed I wouldn't keep too many friends by vomiting in front of them." He said awkwardly. "I..." He stopped his attention drawn to an acorn that bounced on the wood of the table and came to rest next to the thermos flask.

Scarlett
Scarlett was surprised that Ra followed her. She figured that he was absorbed enough in his book that he would just mumble that he was fine without breaking pace from his book. Looking up at him, she smiled faintly. It was very polite for him to excuse himself instead of getting sick in front of her and Ceara. Scarlett just couldn't figure out why he had yanked his arm away from her though. She was only trying to help.

"I understand," she said reaching into her bag and taking out her notebook. "I am truly glad that you are feeling better."

She still didn't ask him to join her. Scarlett was certain that he would leave after his brief explanation. Ra looked like he wanted to say something else, when an acorn landed on the table next to her thermos. Taking the nut up, Scarlett examined it with a bemused smile. She drew a smiley face on it with her black pen { (^o^) } before bouncing it off the table. The acorn hit the stone walkway and skittered along, before landing in a patch of grass.

"May whomever finds that acorn next have good luck," she said gently. 'And if Ra wants to join me, I'll wait for him to ask. I've been bothering him too much lately.' she thought.

Ceara
Ceara was slighlty dissapointed that no ones attention was born skywards by the apparition of the acorn, but then again falling acorns were not out of the norm, especially in this season. Shrugging to herself, since she had made the attempt to include herself, she might as well follow up. She smiled slighlty at Scarlett's luck giving and swung her around and down to the lower branch silently.

She picked up her pull over and dropped down to the ground, walking up behind Scarlett, she grinned slightly at Ra. "Good to see you are feeling better." She was in much too good of a mood after her stint at the archery range and it showed in her much easiar manner than her earliar attitude towards company. Stepping up on the bench and seating her self on the table beside Scarlet she winked at Scarlett. "It seems to be raining acorns doesn't it."

Rashne
Ra shrugged. Great, he had irritated her. He hated people being annoyed with him, couldn't she accept he had been feeling like crap earlier and was perfectly entitled to be standoffish. Sighing again he decided he should make peace. Keeping friends seemed to be like walking on thin ice in this school.

Ra was shocked to see the girl from earlier appear from a tree. After the encounter with Brae a week ago he wondered whether there was some kind of odd tree climbing club.
"Hi Ceara." He grinned back. Hoping that he had got her name right. He watched the ease with which she inserted herself into the conversation with envy. Why couldn't he be like that. "Scarlett, mind if I sit?" He asked half wondering if she would say no.

Scarlett
Scarlett's icy mood was melted by Ceara's hint that she was responsible for the 'forces of nature' in reference to the acorn. Ceara's appearing out of thin air, however, surprised her. Scarlett thought Ceara was very interesting. She seem extremely focused but also equally carefree. Scarlett would never be able to climb trees like Ceara, probably because she would fall out of them like Brae had previously. Rashne's request to join her was welcomed. Scarlett has began to worry that she was developing a very one-sided friendship with him.

"Certainly," she said clearing up some space at the table. "Ceara, would you like to join us, too?"

Scarlett poured some more of her tea. A gust of wind sent a chill up her back. She was happy that she was getting all these chances to make friends. Her longing for Spain faded away thanks to the friendships she was forging in her new school.

Ceara
Looking from the table and then back to Scarlett, Ceara grinned slightly at the girls invitaion to join the table she already sat upon. "Thanks for the invite." she said, her voice obviously sarcastic, but not unkind, shifting about she settled herself on the bench instead of the table. Setting her pull-over on the table infront of her she propped her head on her fists and looked about the table. These two were the newbies after her, but they seemed to be floundering more than she herself had, and that surprised her. Maybe not so much Ra, he seemed a bit more like herself, but poor Scarlett, she was grasping at straws, and Ceara was feeling obliged to give her a hand.

"So what are ya'll doing out in this lovely weather." she said oblivious seemingly to the cool wind that lifted her long bangs from her face and played across the nape of her neck.

Scarlett
Ceara's responses were very confusing to Scarlett. Her words said one thing, but her tone kept saying another. Scarlett was no stranger to scarcasm, but she worried that Ceara found her annoying. She was genuinely happy that she could enjoy sometime with her schoolmates.

"I needed a break from the library."I have been there since we split up earlier. Scarlett said. "Since the temperature is dropping, all the students that were crowing the gardens flooded into the library. I wanted to back earlier but I was too busy replying to neglected e-mails."

Scarlett pushed her curls behind her ears and looked over the garden. She could see why it was such a popular place with the students. It seemed to be the sort of place that would be enjoyable in every season. Only a few weeks into her stay, and she was starting to relax more.

"What have you been up to?" Scarlett said noticing Ceara was without her bow. "Did you finish polishing your bow?"

Rashne Kusani (Player: Midnight_Medea)
Ra sat cross-legged on the comfy sofa trying to make sense of the movie on the TV. He was sure he was missing some cultural significance. The TV schedule had it as its "Festive Treat Family Movie." So far he couldn't see anything festive about it. Some creepy old shop and furry little creatures. He had hoped it would help him feel "christmassy." Sighing he looked out of the window.

It was still snowing.

"No chance of a run then." He muttered to himself turning his attention back to the movie.

Scarlett Quixote (Player: KaleidoscopeGrl)
Scarlett was plagued with a bit of cabin fever. She felt trapped by the snow. She wanted to wander around the garden, but wind's biting chill was something very low on her priority list. Taking a small blanket and a book, she wandered down to the television room. She was relieved to see Ra was having about as much fun as she was.

"Mind if I join you?" Scarlett asked with a smile. "I love my room, but sometimes I need a chance of location."

Rashne
"Please, take a seat." He grinned gesturing to the free space on the large sofa.

"I know what you mean. I thought I was going to go crazy with boredom." He said gesturing to the TV. "There's a film on. Not sure I like it though. It's called Goblins or something like that."

Scarlett
Scarlett curled up on sofa, making sure to cover her feet. The snow was falling softly, so the room had a slight chill. She thought the snow was quite beautiful, but she could live without the unbearable cold that it brought. The movie that was on looked marginally entertaining, but she could see why Ra was indifferent to it. "Looks like they have all the holiday classics on," she said with a weak laugh. "Monster movies at Christmas time.... I wonder what they play at Halloween..."

Rashne
"Happy films with Santa and lots of elves." He shrugged pulling the sleeves of his hoodie over his hands. "I would switch channels but I can't be bothered." He said smiling but also thinking of a conversation starter. He was glad to have someone to talk to after a whole morning watching trashy TV. "So Scarlett what have you been doing with your day?"

Scarlett
"Oh, me?" She said smiling. Just reading mainly. I ordered some books online and they arrived yesterday; a couple of new cookbooks and a couple of novels."

Scarlett held up the book she had in her lap. It was wrapped in a handmade book cover that was made out of colored paper and ribbon. Setting the book back down, she too pulled her hands into her sleeves. Scarlett's winter blues started to fade. She always enjoyed talking to Ra. He was excellent company and an interesting person to talk to. "What about you, Ra? Anything new with you?"

Rashne
"Me? I haven't been doing much, just watching TV." Ha, anything new. Yeah, the reason he couldn't concentrate on anything more than mindless kids films. Every time he tried to concentrate on anything all he could think of was the kiss.

"So yeah, nothing new. What books did you order?" Ra asked in interest, he loved to read other peoples recommendations when he could concentrate on them.

Scarlett
"I like reading novels which have been made into films," Scarlett said fiddling with the ribbon closure on the cover. "Particularly ones about fantasy or history. I like to see the differences made, and also exercise my imagination or learn something new." Scarlett found Ra's presence refreshing. She hadn't left her room much after the incident with Brae the night they had dinner with Chiitra. Scarlett felt soothed by Ra's presence, but she knew she couldn't bring up the terrible night they all shared when the current atmosphere was so calm and relaxing. "This ??

Rashne
Ra nodded. He had never thought about looking at books made into films that way. Well except maybe Harry Potter but that was a semi-guilty secret. He liked books that were obscure and weird. "Cool. O.k, two questions: What book are you reading now and what is your favourite book?" He asked glad to see Scarlett a bit more relaxed around him than usual.

Scarlett
"This one is several years old. It's called Memoirs of a Geisha. I thought it would be interesting to read a fiction about Japanese culture written by a non-Japanese person," Scarlett said holding the book out to Ra. "I also have JFK and Malcolm-X. My American pen-pal recommended them. She's a history major at uni. I'm always looking for new and interesting books to read."

Her smile broadened a bit when she thought of her favorite book. It was a peculiar selection, and probably one Ra would find childish. "I really like The Chronicles of Narnia" she said with a soft smile. The last thing she wanted to do was admit that some of her books contain far more adult material than was acceptable for a lady of 15 to consume.

Rashne
"Sounds interesting. I think my mother read the Geisha book before we came here." He said with a vague memory of her talking about it over breakfast one morning. "I'm reading Harry Potter at the moment, my cousin has been pestering me to read them for ages. But usually I read sci-fi or thing people reccomend to me. I like wierd stuff. I'm not a big fan of books about reality." He paused and looked out the window again. "Maybe I should be." He smiled. "Reading about Malcolm X would be interesting."

Scarlett
"If you are interested in reading Malcolm X," Scarlett said with a smile. "You're welcome to borrow my copy. I'm not reading it at the moment, anyway."

Scarlett really enjoyed talking with Rashne. Every time she thought she understood more about him, he always surprised her with something new. She was surprised to hear that a 17 year old boy was reading Harry Potter. An appreciation for imagination was rare in the guys that scarlett had met. Most of them were more concerned about making money, impressing girls, or other things. The room was cold, but she didn't mind. Ra's kindness made the place a bit warmer.

"Would you like a cup of tea? It's a bit drafty in this room."

Rashne
Ra noticed Scarlett's shock when he mentioned Harry Potter and guessed the root of it. "You think Harry Potter is a kids book?" He said, half teasing. "There's some scary stuff in them. Besides Parisa won't leave me alone until I've read all of them."

The offer of tea perked him up. "Tea is always good!" He grinned. "What flavour?"

Scarlett
Scarlett giggled. "No, it's reassuring to find guys that still believe in imagination and fantasy that doesn't involve money, girls, or success." She winked playfully and nudged Ra with the corner of her book. "I read all of the books in Spanish, but I am going back and reading the English versions to improve my English."

She slipped her feet back into her slippers and folded her blanket. Setting it on couch, she asked Ra if he would add more water to the kettle while she went to her room and got her miscellany tea case. Having received an assortment of loose teas from her father, she was eager to get a fellow tea lover's opinion of them. "They are from all over Spain. I have a sampler, so you can choose."

Rashne
"Hey, just because I read Harry Potter doesn't mean I'm not into money, girls and success. " He replied half flinching as Scarlett nudged him with her book.

He was glad to see her more relaxed. "I think it would be quite interesting to be a successful woman with money." He said standing up and crossing the room to the kettle. He was intrigued to know what kind of teas they have in Spain.

Scarlett
Scarlett tripped of the threshold at Ra's comment about being a rich & successful woman. 'So he did have a sense of humor.' she thought. 'He's a genuine nice guy.'

Her laughter could be heard down the hallway as she keyed into her room. She picked up the tea box that her father has sent her. It was a gift from one of his patrons at the arena. It bothered her that her father had the nerve to send her presents from his bloodsport. She picked up three small wooden boxes, each made of Spanish cedar.

Returning to the room, she set the cases on the coffee table in front of Ra. "Actually, the Spanish people didn't drink tea until it was brought to them from England by Princess Victoria Eugenia. The most popular flavors are mint, berry, citrus, and vanilla."

(the tea boxes)

"These were sent to me by my father. They were gifts from a patron who enjoys my father's fights," Scarlett said eyeing the cases sadly. "I really love my father. It's just his job I'm not too keen on."

Rashne
"That's interesting." Ra said eyeing the tea boxes with interest. He loved tea, it ran in the family. In the modern world it was not a very manly interest, one that had given fuel to the bullying fire in the past.

"Your dad fights?" He asked with visions of Scarlett's dad the boxer. He was sure she had mentioned his occupation before and now cursed himself for not being able to remember.

Scarlett
"Well, it's not so much a fair fight," Scarlett said setting two fresh mugs on the table. "The bulls aren't given swords to fight back with."

She sat down next to him on the couch again. It had been a while since she talked with anyone about what her father did for a living. Usually she found it easier not to talk about him at all. Ignoring his existance would be rude though since he's provided her with so much.

"Please open the boxes," Scarlett said smiling. "Unless you have x-ray vision or one super sense of smell..."

Rashne
Ra blinked. "Bulls?" he said waiting for his brain to click into place. "Oooh he's a...can't pronounce it. Begins with M." He grimaced pulling one of the boxes towards him.

"How did you know about my Super sense of smell and X-ray vision?" He asked, opening the latch on the case. "I'm not sure I agree with bull fighting either, actually I don't agree with any fighting, especially not for fun." He said looking down at the random bags of tea. "Which is your favourite?"

Scarlett
"Yes, my father is a matador," she said trying not to roll her Rs. "A bullfighter, one of the best in Spain, actually, though I've never really taken to it. I always preferred working in my mother's restaurant."

Opening one of the cases, she took a deep breath of the cedar mingling with the tea scents. They were very fresh, and clearly more expensive than she would have liked. The handcrafted boxes reminded her of home. "Vanilla's one of my favorites, though I am going to be adventurous today and try the berry. The mint is a speciality from Andalusia; where I'm from."

Rashne
"That explains the talent for cooking then." He said as the kettle reached boiling point and the switch flipped off.

"We have Vanilla tea too he said retrieving two cups from the shelf and a rather cheap looking teapot. Taking off the lid he ventured a look inside. It was clean.

"Berry it is then. Though mint sounds interesting. Refreshing. My Grandfather's speciality is Saffron tea. though it's a bit expensive. I'll let you do the honours." He said sliding the teapot across to her. And flipping the switch on the kettle again allowing the already hot water to come to the boil again. "It's best freshly boiled." He said explaining his actions.

Scarlett
"I think I remember you mentioning that your grandfather was a tea master," Scarlett said pouring the mixture of tea leaves and dried berries into the two mugs. The hot water was the perfect temperature, just hot enough to steep the tea, but not force them to wait a long time before enjoying it. Setting the kettle down she tried to remember when Ra had mentioned it to her.

"It was the night we had the dinner..." Scarlett said looking down at the tea swirling in the mugs. "...at your room..."

Rashne
Ra laughed. "I'm not sure I would call him a Grand Master. Just a tea seller, blender and enthusiast." He smiled as he imagined his grand father in a big cape with a badge saying 'Grand Master.'

Ra was a little taken aback by her mention of the somewhat intense 'dinner party.' Un comfortably he smiled and sat down on one of the chairs at the table. "Was it?" He asked. "To be honest that evening is a bit of a blur." He said trying to remain nonchalant.

Scarlett
Scarlett knew that she shouldn't have mentioned the disaster that was the dinner party. She desperately wanted to talk to him about it because she honestly didn't understand everything that happened.

'Everyone has their issues. I'm no exception,' she thought. Telling from Ra's tone, she knew better than to push the issue with him. She and Ra weren't close like him and Chii, and it was something she slightly envied.

"I didn't mean to mention it. Just forget that I say anything."

Rashne
Ra bit his lip as he always did when nervous about something. He was dissapointed that the conversation had taken a nose dive yet the subject was bound to come up one day.

He had almost forgotten that he had run from the room rather abruptly. Everything before the garden was blured and unsure. He had to remember that Scarlett had, had a frightening experience with Brae.

"Hey, no worries." He said pouring the tea into the mugs.

"Look, I'm sorry about abandoning you. It's just, I don't handle alcohol well. I had to get some fresh air, I wasn't really thinking. To tell you the truth I feel really guilty about it." He passed her one of the mugs and held his in his hands. That was truth enough. If he had been on his medication tha alcohol would have messed him up and he did feel guilty.

Scarlett
"Thank you. And don't feel guilty..." she said softly, taking the mug from him again.

"I was just worried because you and Chii were gone for so long." She sipped the tea in an attempt to stop herself from anything anything else embarrassing to Ra. She closed her eyes and let the berry tea calm her.

"I shouldn't have brought the sangria anyway. I'd get in tons of trouble if I were caught with it. I just needed one of those comforts from home, you know?" Scarlett hoped that Ra would understand. It was clear to her that he was adjusting to his new school life with greater ease than she was.

Rashne
Ra went about ten shades of red at the mention of him and Chii being gone so long. Looking down at his tea he was glad when she mentioned not bringing the sangria.

"Are you joking?" He laughed recovering from his embarrassment. "This is a boarding school. You're supposed to smuggle in alcohol and have parties. Believe me I've seen some crazy ones. It was my fault. I shouldn't drink anyway, call it divine intervention." He smiled at her mention of home comforts.

"I understand." He said pausing to take a sip of tea. "I have forbidden comforts. Not necessarily home ones nor ones my parents would like to know about, but I have them. Smoking, for one. My music. Moving around is tough. It's good to have things that remind us where we came from. Well, if we want to go back there that is."

Scarlett
Scarlett smiled at Ra's mention of crazy dorm parties, smoking, and music. From what she could tell, Ra had a less sheltered life than she did. Or if he was sheltered, it was in a different manner than she was. The words 'forbidden comforts' ran a chill up her spine. She thought they were an interesting selection of words, and was rather disappointed they weren't bigger vices.... like hers. Realizing that she was suddenly thinking things she shouldn't be, she wiped the grin off her face and resumed drinking her tea.

"The closest thing I've come to crazy parties are the festivals back home and large parties at the restaurant. I wish I could explain it to do it justice, but I can't. I wish there were more parties here. So I could meet people."

Rashne
Ra grinned at Scarletts smile as he mentioned his vices. He wondered if she had others aside from drinking.

"I know what you mean about parties though, there are so many people I haven't met yet. I'm sure there will be plenty more parties though. Back in my last school they had one every week." He took another sip of the excellent tea. "We don't have many 'crazy' festivals back home. My country is quite strict with rules, most people are Muslims so there is no drinking. Same with most countries I've lived in. Well except Britain. We have religious festivals though. Some of those are quite fun. This tea is really good." He remarked grinning again.

Scarlett
"I am glad that you like the tea. I have plenty of it," Scarlett smiled. "I have plenty, but tea's more fun when you can enjoy it with another people and some good conversation."

Scarlett found Ra's past fascinating. She could tell that he, too, had some difficult things happen to him. She was familiar with some Muslim customs as she lived near the Grand Mosque at Cordoba. She realized that the dinner party she had with Brae, Ra & Chii was the first time she had a party (albeit a small one) with classmates. She had always spent time and parties with her family and the people at the restaurant.

"My friend back home told me that the restaurant is preparing to perform Carmen again. It'll be the first time since I was 12 that I wasn't in it. I mean, it's only three years, but I love it."

Rashne
"Carmen? The opera?" He asked then backtracked.

"My dad likes to listen to Opera. I don't know much about it. Do you sing?"

Scarlett
Scarlett's cheeks flushed a little bit. "Yes, the opera. I've studied performing arts since I was three. Growing up in a 'flamenco stable' makes it somewhat of a rite of passage in my house," She said, hoping he wasn't going to ask her to sing.

Its not that she didn't like singing, but she never really performed for anyone she knew outside of the restaurant or her family. There were the customers at the restaurant, of course, but she never knew any of them. None of her classmates ever came to the restaurant, even before they were banned from doing so.

"I sing, dance, and cook. Those are probably my only strengths."

Rashne
"Wow." He said taking in everything that she had said.

"Those are no small strengths Scarlett. They are strong talents. Useful talents." He paused draining his cup of tea. "I'm envious. I don't really have any talents, well, football maybe but that is not something that will help me through life."

Scarlett
"Yep, I am perfectly trained to inherit the family restaurant," She said draining her cup as well. "Well, that is if I wanted to inherit it. Part of my feels like I need to be somewhere else, doing something else. The problem is I have no idea where or what that is."

She looked at the leaves and dregs at the bottom of her cup.

"Feel like trying a different tea? I wish I knew how to play a sport. I was never allowed to. My grandparents were afraid I'd break something." She laughed. "Me, the daughter of a man who gets flung around by cattle all day."

Rashne
"Sure, can we try the mint?" He asked listening to her talk.

"I know what you mean, my father wants me to be one thing, my mother another and my grandparents something completely different. I have no idea which path I want to choose. You should try sport." He said grinning.

"I love it. I do it mainly for stress relief and to help me sleep but I enjoy it. Football is my main sport, and cross country running, I played Rugby and Field hockey in PE in Britain, they were both fun." He stopped realising he was going off on a sport tangent and probably boring her.

"You know you should branch out, try something new. Your grandparents and parents aren't here. You can try anything you want....sorry." He said stopping. "That was rude of me."

Scarlett
"There are many clubs here, right? I guess I could always find something new," She said taking up the empty mugs.

She scooped out the left over leaves and rinsed the mugs with nice warm water. Drying them off, she gave Ra's thought a think over. She was halfway across the world without the family to bear down on her and her decisions. Granted that meant that she would be held in greater responsibility for her actions, but at least she could expand her horizons. She liked the thought of that.

"If I were to start a sport, I would have to start with something low impact and work my way up. Any suggestions?" She wiped the mugs dry, dropped in sachets of the mint tea and poured the hot water over them. "And don't apologize, Ra. You're right. Here we are a bit freer, aren't we?"

"See." He smiled. "There are plenty of advantages of being so far from home and parental nagging."

Flipping the switch on the half full kettle he thought about her request regarding sports. He tended to prefer fast team sports. "Um as for sport, Swimming is always a good one to ease you in. I don't do it myself but I've heard it recommended. It's good for all round fitness. Other than that I suppose racket sports are pretty low impact if you are playing for fun. Depends what you like really." He shrugged.

Scarlett
"I'd have to take a class either way," Scarlett said shyly. "I can't do either. I'll do some research this weekend." She was truly enjoying her conversation with Ra. She was really learning many things, not only about Ra but about herself, too.

"Have you found any enjoyable places around school for relaxing or just hanging out?"

Rashne
Ra smirked slightly. Places to hang out. The only place he had really hung out was the gardens. Most of the time he had to himself he spent in his room studying or listening to music. There was the bakery with the cafe but he was reluctant to have it turn into a popular hang out. As Chii said, it was a place to escape.

"Um, only the gardens really They are probably the best place on campus for relaxing and general hanging out." He laughed to himself and nodded towards the window. "Unless it's snowing of course and then there is just here I suppose. How about you?"

Scarlett
"I've been hanging around the gardens, too," Scarlett said pulling her blanket closer. "I've also spent a lot of time in the library."

She also had been practicing dancing in her room, which involved more stomping than she liked. Cooking and writing e-mails were also taking up a good part of her time, too. "I've found great places to study, but I'm still working on places to relax."

She had relaxed a bit since her first few days at school, but Scarlett still craved a place to explore. "Would running be a good way to get into sports? Maybe I could run around the school or something."

Rashne
"As I said it depends what you like doing. I like to play sports that involve a lot of running, so running is good for me." He paused and wondered if he should suggest she joined him on a run, but left it on hold for the moment.

"What kind of sports did you like in school? I'm assuming PE is a pretty universal subject."

Scarlett
"I never really liked sports in school. Probably because I was the girl who was always picked last," Scarlett said smiling.

"That's why I want to try one." She wondered if she could find a map of the school in her folders in her room. Mapping out a simple trail would be something fun for her to work on.

Rashne
"Wow, your teachers let you pick teams? We were always put in them. I know what you mean though. I have a feeling I would have had the same problem if we had been allowed to pick teams." He shrugged again.

"But then that's why sports like hockey and rugby were good. You could always 'legally' take your stress out on the people that treated you like dirt." He smiled trying to make it a joke.

"Look, " he sighed. "I go running most mornings, but I go early and I like to run fast and sometimes quite far. If you decide you want to go running just give me a shout. I can join you if you want, give you a hand with pacing." he paused yet again. "If you want me to, that is."

Scarlett
"I appreciate the offer, but I wouldn't want to hold you back. Unless you really don't mind that is," Scarlett said. "I would really appreciate it. I can pay for your coaching in tea and healthy, home cooked meals."

Scarlett sighed. It felt good to just talk with Ra. She initially had a crush on him when they first met, but she was quickly starting to develop an older brother admiration for him. He was very kind and easy to talk to. She wondered if he had any friends he'd be willing to set her up with. Scarlett wondered if he was the type to be very critical of who dates his girl friends.

Rashne
Ra started to laugh at her suggestion that she would pay him with food and shook his head. "Scarlett, you don't have to do that, seriously. It's not like I'll be coaching you. Just making sure you don't over do it. Running can be pretty dangerous if you don't take it slow."

He grinned, happy that they could now have proper conversations. Scarlett seemed like an interesting and fun person to be around. As the kettle came to the boil he though of something else to ask. "Do you have any brothers and sisters?"

Scarlett
"I don't mind at all, Ra. I come from a big family, so I always make too much food for one person," Scarlett said grinning. "I am an only child, but I have lots of aunts, uncles, and cousins. Everyone does their own thing, well, except those working full-time in the restaurant."

Scarlett wondered which tea they should try next. The berry and mint had already been enjoyed. Out of the remaining flavors, she was craving a sweet tea. Like the vanilla with cream and sugar. "I was thinking about having the vanilla next. It's best with milk and sugar."

Rashne
"Me too." Ra grinned. "Come from a big family that is. Well, on my mother's side. She has four sisters and a brother. My dad's family is pretty small. Aside from my Grandparents there's just my Uncle and my cousin Parisa." He stopped and handed Scarlett the vanilla tea. He wasn't too comfortable about going into details about his father's side of the family. "I'm an only child too." He smiled.

"Well, kind of. Risa is a bit like a sister I suppose. Umm No sugar for me thanks. Your family sounds like a lot of fun."

Scarlett
"Thanks!" She said taking the vanilla tea and passing the mint to Ra. "My family is insane, but I love them. They find a reason to celebrate just about anything."

The smell of the teas was just what she needed. She was glad to have found a tea partner. She wondered what the saffron tea he spoke of tasted like. "The mint's perfect with a small dash of sugar. Or mint liquer..." she said with a devilish grin.

Rashne
Ra laughed again at her suggestion of mint liquer. "It must be nice to have such a laid back family. Mine's pretty tense, suffocating even." He said taking the tea and savouring its sweet scent. "Sometimes I think they do me more harm than good." He laughed, half joking as he took a careful sip of the tea.

Scarlett
"My family would adopt you in a heartbeat," Scarlett said laughing again.

"I think it?s the hair. My cousins all have longer hair." She wondered if her comments sounded strange to him, and grew concerned about her English again. "Well, if you ever need to talk about stuff. I'm just a few doors down the hall."

Scarlett Quixote (KaleidoscopeGrl)
Scarlett has pulled another all-nighter. She didn't mean for it to happen, but once she got started playing her video games, she couldn't stop. It was an addiction that her parents considered idiotic and a waste of money. It was only once she started earning her way at the restaurant, that she started purchasing games online. Looking at the clock, it was closing in on 4AM, and she wasn't even sleepy... any more. Several cups of coffee, a bag of junk food, and the latest edition to her collection were doing everything possible to keep Scarlett from her bed. The duvet and blanket was stripped from the mattress and encased her like a toasty enchilada. Her hair was pulled up in a loose French twist, held in place with several metal clips. She wore a emerald silk camisole with a lace trim,& matching pin-striped, black pajama bottoms. Bleary eyed, she wore her glasses, but she was determined to unlock the next costume for her main character.

Rashne Kusani (Midnight_Medea)
It was gone four by the time Ra made it back to the dorms passing the bin men on their weekly rubbish and recycling collection. As he approached the building he looked up to his floor. All the rooms were still in darkness. Except one. Scarletts?

Ra half wondered what she was going up so early but then realised that he too was not only awake but out running. He didn't know why but as he made his way up the stairs he decided he would ask her if she wanted some tea. He could do with someone to talk to. Someone not involved in his problems. Thinking alone was doing him no favours.

Approaching her room he didn't even think to go and change. His hair coming lose from its band and his top wet with sweat from running he wasn't at his most presentable.

Shrugging he knocked on her door.

Scarlett
Scarlett took a double take when she head knocking at her door. 'Who could it possibly be at this hour?' she thought, rolling herself out of her blanket cocoon. There weren't any alarms, so it wasn't the house master. Having a limited circle of friends, Scarlett realized it could only be one of three people: Rashne, Chiitra, or Brae. She hadn't talked to Chii or Brae since the incident at Ra's impromptu dinner party, so having either of them suddenly appear at her door at this random hour would be very strange. That narrowed the list further down to Ra.

'He wouldn't stop by at this hour unless it was really important,' she continued, hitting the pause button on her game controller. Running to the door in her fluffy slippers, Scarlett was relieved to see Ra on the other side of the door. His hair was matted and wet, but she found it quite suiting for him. "It's a bit early to start my running training, isn't it?" Scarlett said with a playful smile. "Do you want to come in?"

Rashne
Ra suddenly found himself feeling very stupid. What was he doing calling on people at stupid oclock in the morning?
"Uh, no." He said, slightly embarrassed that he had caught her in her pajamas. "I was wondering if you wanted some tea? I was just about to make a cup."

Scarlett
"Sure thing," she said, pushing her glasses off her face and onto her head. Giving a great yawn and stretch, she lightly patted the sides of her face, trying to shake the traces of zombie off her face. Then it hit her. Not only did she answer the door wearing her pajamas, but she also has her nerdy librarian glasses and zero makeup on. "Can you give me a few minutes to splash some fresh water on my face? I've been in the midst of a gaming marathon." She sounded a bit nervous about her secret vices that Ra was on the brink of discovering. Taking a quick glance over her shoulder at the disaster zone that was her room, she was fully prepared to die of shame.

Rashne
Ra smiled giving a quick glance to her room out of curiosity. To him, the king of mess it looked very tidy.
"Uh, yeah." He agreed suddenly realise what a state he was in. He hoped that his eye's weren't too red and bagged from his crying earlier.
"Actually I should go and take a shower." He grinned. "Shall we say meet in the common room in ten minutes?"

January 11, 2006 (JST)
Scarlett
Scarlett closed the door and dashed to the sink. The water that came out of the tap was like ice and it stung as she splashed it on her face. She couldn't believe that she didn't tell Ra to hold on while she made herself more 'presentable'. Her faced flushed when she realized that she was only wearing her camisole and PJ bottoms. 'I can only imagine what he thinks of me answering the door without a bra on,' she scowled.

Smoothing some moisturizer on her face, she grabbed the matching long sleeved PJ top and slipped it on quickly. She buttoned up only halfway before remembering how cold the common room was. She combed her hair quickly and put it back up in the clips. By the time she finished, the lotion settled and she put on a light layer of face powder. Fighting to shake her plush blanket loose, Scarlett nearly tripped over the coffee table. Victorious, she grabbed her keys and shuffled down the hallway

Rashne
Fresh out of the shower Ra rubbed a towel over his hair and grabbed the clean clothes he had left on the bathroom floor. Dressing in baggy black combats and a short sleeved festival T-shirt he was definitely more presentable.

Leaving his running clothes in a pile on the floor he grabbed a box of tea bags from the shelf and went down to the common room. He did not give a second thought to the fact that the T-shirt revealed the scarred graze marks on his left upper arm. His thoughts were too crowded trying to decide exactly what to tell Scarlett.

He had wanted to talk to someone about his worries but now he had actually initiated the conversation he was worried.

Scarlett]Scarlett was waiting for Ra in the floor lounge. She had rinsed out a pair of mugs and started up the kettle since she arrived first. She was sitting by the window looking out into the courtyard wondering what Ra wanted to talk to her about. Something was bothering him, but she wondered if he was comfortable enough to genuinely talk to her. Seeing his reflection in the glass, she smiled. "The kettle's warming up and clean mugs are on the coffee table." She noticed that he had changed into proper clothes, and hoped that he wouldn't be offended by her staying in her pajamas. 'He only gave me ten minutes to get ready, so I hope he wasn't expecting more than this,' she thought to herself. Getting up, she moved back to the couch with her blanket. "You clean up nicely," she said, hoping to make him smile.
[quote="Rashne
"Thanks." He said, giving a half smile and joining her on the sofa. "Sorry I couldn't be bothered to dig out the exciting tea so I brought this." He said placing the bag of Tetley* on the table.

"Uh, sorry for dragging you out of your room so early in the morning. I...uh..." He paused trying to think what to say. It was no good, he was stuck. He didn't want to sound pathetic but he couldn't think of any other way to say it. "You know those times when you need to see a friendly face? I'm kind of having one of those mornings. I don't sleep well and it's been getting to me."

He took a deep breath once he had finished. She probably thought he was a total wierdo.

Scarlett
"Ah, I was tired of all those expensive, snobby teas, anyway," Scarlett said trying to lighten the mood. "I can experience 'normal' English tea culture now." She opened the box and took two bags out, hearing the kettle begin to whistle. Handing them to Ra, and putting him to work, she went to fetch the kettle. "I don't mind at all, Ra, especially if a friend is in need."

She wondered what was bothering him. It had to be pretty heavy to have him in such a somber mood. Scarlett was relieved that he came to her for help. She wondered if she's be able to do the same, had she needed his friendly face. Returning with the kettle she set it on the table" Seriously, anytime you need me, I'm just down the hall. You look like you have a ton on your mind. Just take your time..."

She placed her hand on top of his, hoping he wouldn't pull away from her like last time.

Rashne
"Is there milk?" He asked placing the tea bags in the cups. "It's not the kind of tea that tastes very good black...well not without a cup of sugar to go with it."

Watching her put the kettle on the table he wondered why she was being so nice to him. It wasn't like he deserved it. He flinched slightly as she touched his hand but didn't remove it. It was a gesture of kindness and not one he wanted to throw back in her face.

"It's a bit of a long story." He began not really wanting to tell her everything. He wasn't quite ready for that yet. "I'm not sure where to start to be honest. I suppose with the reason I am up so early in the morning and doing crazy things like running round campus. That might be a good start right?

Scarlett
"Hmm, there might be milk in the fridge, if not, I have some at mine," Scarlett said, trying to remember if the milk had expired or not. "Let me check." Releasing Ra's hand, she walked over to the fridge and thankfully, there was not only milk, but it was still fresh. Placing it on a tray, she also took the sugar from the cupboard. "I've got loads of time, Ra, and starting at the beginning, might help me understand what you are going through," she said, returning with the items. She poured the hot water into the mugs, and placed on closer to Ra. "Let that sit for a few. It's very hot."

Rashne
Ra shook his head and smiled sadly. "The begining is difficult for me to talk about. I'd rather not go into it unless I have to." He began, glad that she had found the milk. He didn't fancy drinking the tea black.

"For one reason or another I have trouble sleeping...well actually I have more than trouble I have full on insomnia and depression. It wasn't too bad when I was in England but...changing schools, trying to catch up with grades and stuff has made it worse. I have to keep regular meetings with the school councellor. I'm supposed to take pills as well but I don't like it." He paused to pick up his tea and held the mug in both hands. "They are really strong. Once I take them, in the evening I become a zombie, then there's the bad side effects and when I come off them I have withdrawal it's not nice. Do you remember that day in the courtyard, where I was mean to you? I had just started taking them again." He took a sip of the hot tea, welcoming the burning sensation on his lips. "I still fell bad about that actually. I acted like an idiot."

Scarlett
Scarlett listened to Ra rattle of an extremely complex situation, but suddenly certain things that happened between them started to make sense. She remembered the day Ra spoke of, it was the first day she had met Ceara, the archery girl. Scarlett wondered had Ceara had been, they were in the same grade, but they hadn't seen each other recently.

"So that's why you pulled away from me that day," Scarlett said hoping that she was correct. She sipped her tea gingerly as Ra talked about some, very personal issues. Scarlett had wondered where he kept slipping off to, but new she understood why he didn't want to tell her. She was surprised that she hadn't seen the school counselor, considering the events that happened at her previous school. Nothing at Aquila had triggered any emotion toward that time in her life. But someone did.

"Don't feel bad about how you reacted, Ra. We had only been at school at short time, and you weren't comfortable sharing such personal details with me. I was never mad, only concerned."

Rashne
Ra took a deep breath and nodded.

"Yeah that's kind of why I pulled away. I'm not to comfortable with people touching me but I still shouldn't have acted like that." He stopped. Where to next? He knew what he was building up to but he was hesitant to get there.

"So last night I didn't take my medication. That's why I was up so early. My mother hasn't been helping. She's always on my back. I know she is just concerned but it doesn't help. I'd rather deal with things on my own. I hate having to tell the councellor all of my business. It stresses me out more and makes my grades slip so I have to go to more appoinments. It's like a viscious circle."

He went silent, drinking more of his tea. and waiting to see her reaction. Everything he was complaining about seemed petty now he was talking about it.

Scarlett
"It sound like you've been through so much.." Scarlett said after taking in every that Ra said. She set her mug down and took his hand again. She squeezed gently, trying to reassure him. There were so many things she wanted to say, but didn't want to patronize him. From the sound of things, between his mom and the counselor, Ra was trapped between Schylla and Charibdis on that tiny little boat. Looking up again, something caught her attention from the corner of her eye. It was the first time she had seen Ra wearing a short sleeved shirt. There was a slight discoloration peeking out just below his sleeve which looked like markings of some kind. Not wanting to pry, she quickly averted her glance back up at Ra-- hoping he didn't notice her looking at it for too long. "Is there anything I can do?"

Rashne
Ra noticed her look at his arm. He paniced slightly that he had forgotten to put a long sleeved shirt on. He shrugged the worry off. His arm he didn't mind. It was minor compared to the rest of him.

"Just listening is enough." He smiled placing his cup on the table and withdrawing his hand from hers with an apologetic smile, he didn't feel comfortable with the closeness of the gesture.

"Actually..."he began, taking a deep breath. "I was wondering if you could give me some advice..." His heart was beating fast as his nerves got the better of him. "It's kind of embarrasing really. You have to promise you won't laugh." He said quietly looking out of the window to avoid her eyes. He felt so inept.

Scarlett
"If you say something funny like 'Hey Scarlett, I have pink boxer shorts with bunnies doing the Samba on them.'" Scarlett said, trying to loosen him up a little. "Then I'm going to laugh. If it's something serious, Ra, I won't. I promise."

She felt his hand pull from hers and she knew that she had to let go. She cursed her overly affectionate family for raising in her they way they did. It bothered her that she couldn't carry on a simple conversation without using her hands to either accentuate a point. She was always moving, so Ra probably thought she had Attention Deficit Disorder. Lacing her fingers through one another, she buried them underneath her blanket. The room was chilly, so it seemed perfectly logical.

"I cross my heart and swear on my favorite dance shoes. A flamenco dancer's 'zapatos' are their lives."

Rashne
Ra looked at Scarlett and smiled. "Thank you." Normally he would have made a joke about pink boxers, but he wasn't in the mood. It actually seemed easier to talk about this with her. If he said what he was about to say to his friend Saj he would be met with an onslaught of teasing.

"First," He began. "I want you to know that when I left that room I was genuinly upset. I feel really awful about what happened with Brae. If I had thought he would go crazy I would never have left. Chii followed me because she knows ." He paused. This all sounded stupid now he was saying it out loud. He knew he was going to make a mess of it. "she knows everything. We went outside...to walk some of that amazing sangria off. We were joking around, because she was trying to cheer me up...and...would you like some more tea?"

Scarlett
"I figured it would have to be something extreme to upset you so much," Scarlett said looking down. "You shouldn't feel guilty for what happened that night. No one control the way they feel all the time." Scarlett suddenly became nervous. She didn't want to tell Ra what happened during the time he and Chiitra had left her with Brae. She would just let him talk for as long as he needed to. "Again, I'm sorry about the sangria,"Scarlett say shyly. "I still can't balance it properly like my mother does." She was thankful Ra offered her more tea. "Yes, please," she smiled, holding up her cup.

Rashne
Ra went about making a second sup of tea and tried to think how to tell her what he wanted to say. What he really wanted to talk about. He was embarrassed yet his need for advice or atleast another opinion overrode it.

He would come out with it quickly, like a band aid.

"We kind of...well, kissed." He said turning bright red as he focused on the task of pouring the milk in the cup.

Scarlett
"That's.... wonderful!" Scarlett rejoiced, a genuine smile beaming from her face. Loweing her voice, she continued, "...right? I mean Chiitra's a lovely girl, and you deserve someone absolutely wonderful, Ra!"

Scarlett hoped that her enthusiastic response wouldn't freak him out. It was made quite clear that he was extremely concerned about the issue. Would Ra see her happy face, or just think she was putting on a brave face.

Rashne
Scarlett's initial outburst made him jump slightly. He hadn't expected her to be so enthusiastic. He thought it looked pretty bad. Whilst she had been having a bad time he had been having quite the opposite.

He smiled at her praise of Chii. "Yeah, she is, lovely that is. But that's the problem." He began placing the cup of tea infront of Scarlett. "She's great, and I really, really like her.

Only I have no idea what to do." Again he thought it would be best to get it over with quickly. "Before I was completely comfortable around her and now it's like my feelings have been turned upside down. I don't know what to do when I see her next, how to act. There are other problems too. My family, my problems. I don't want to drag her into that whole mess." He sighed heavily and sat back on the sofa. "I just don't know what to do anymore."

Scarlett
"Just take it one day at a time," Scarlett said, seeing Ra lean back on the sofa. "You're not marrying her tomorrow, right?" Scarlett felt ridiculous. Who was she to lecture about dating and relationships? She had never even been kissed before or met a guy remotely interested in her. She was chased out of her last schol because of bullying, but like the restaurant, Aquila was starting to feel like
home. After a long pause, she continued, "Actually, I'm probably the last person you should go to for dating advice... I've never..." Her voiced trailed off, and she hoped that Ra didn't think her insensitive.

Rashne
Ra smiled as she trailed off. It was not a patronising smile, just one of someone who understands.

"Don't worry." He said. "I know. I had never kissed a girl." He was not embarrassed to talk about his naievity, just slightly ashamed of it. "It's just embarrassing. I'm a guy, I'm supposed to be confident in these things." He stopped looking down at his tea. "She must think I'm a total wuss."

Something crossed his mind and he looked up. "Scarlett I'm sorry, I didn't mean to imply you knew everything...I just thought you could give me an opinion more than advice I suppose."

Scarlett
"I don't think so," Scarlett said. "You're you. Not anyone else. You're not just any guy. I know that. Chiitra knows that." Scarlett said looking out the window.

Scarlett hoped her words didn't sound too cliched or weird, she just wanted Ra to know that she understood where he was coming from. Letting out a heavy sigh, she sipped her tea. "I wish I could be more help. I'll only be able to listen in affairs of the heart."

Rashne
Ra was touched by her words. Noticing her downbeat tone he let out a small laugh. Not at her but to ease the tension. He had been talking way too much about himself. Thinking he understood what she meant he attempted to cheer her up.
"Scarlett, you are only just sixteen. You talk like forever. You have been a great help. Seriously. I'm glad I could share this with you...if you ever want to return the favour I will provide ears and my own uninformed opinions."

Scarlett
"I'm glad that I was able to be helpful," Scarlett smiled, feeling relieved. "I might take you up on that sometime."

Being with Ra was comforting, and she really enjoyed their tea time together. In her mind, they were becoming really solid friends. It was reassurring to have someone that she could talk to. She had someone she could share tea, and at more suitable hours, running, eventually. She just hoped he wouldn't think her weird once her tales of terror came out.

Rashne
"Anytime." He grinned before finishing the last drop of tea. He was glad to have talked. She was making him feel more confident about seeing Chii again. Hopefully confident enough he wouldn't act awkward next time they met. He would take Scarlett's advice. Take it slowly and act like himself.

"So Scarlett. When do you want to begin 'training'?"

Scarlett
"Perhaps after I shower, eat something proper, and log some sleep hours," Scarlett said with a relieved laugh. "I don't think it'll be much of a work out for me if I pass out and you have to carry me back here." The tea eas really soothing, and exactly what Scarlett needed to cancel out all the caffiene in her system.

"How about later this afternoon? Or catch a light lunch then a run?"

Rashne
"Sure" Ra grinned. "Though you might want to eat at least an hour before we run, else you'll get a stitch."

Picking up the cups he crossed over to the kitchen area and placed them in the sink.
"Well I'd better let you get some sleep." He said turning back to her. "And thank you. For listening. I owe you one looong angst session."

Scarlett: . . . I am not a hussy.

Grandma Kusani: Rashne (middlename) Kusani... SEE what I told you. Do they have no shame!?

Grandpa Quixote: What man shows at a woman's house that that hour anyway? He wasn't bleeding to death or anything

Grandma Kusani: Because he is being led astray by evil girls like your granddaughter, with their loose morals.

Grandpa Quixote: She wasn't the one drenched in sweat asking to see him. She did no such leading, our Escarlata is an angel.

Grandma Kusani: I blame the mother. First she led my son astray, taking him off to the four corners of the earth and NOW she's doing it to my only grandson! I knew this mixed school business would be trouble.

Grandma Quixote: Macarena Escarlata Quixote, you should be ashamed for yourself. Answering the door without makeup! The man of your dreams could be on the other side.

Medea, think now... where do these go?

October 30-2005
Rashne Kusani (midnight_medea)
After lunch Ra had the entire afternoon free. It was a good afternoon, the sun was shining and all over the campus students were studying or chatting outside. Part of him thought it would be good to go for a run.
Due to Jetlag he had neglected his usual morning exercise routine.
Another part of him thought guiltily to the biology journal in his bag, he needed to catch up on the reading materials if he was going to catch up with the rest of the class.
Sighing, he made his way back to the library.

Scarlett Quixote (kaleidoscopegrl)
Scarlett felt guilty about causing such a scene in the garden. She was certain that Brae would need time to calm down. She could not figure out what had caused him to become so upset. He reassured her that she was not the cause of his being upset, but she couldn't shake the feeling that something was amiss.

I hope he won't be too angry she thought to herself.

Suddenly she remembered that she had completely forgot to wait for the other new student, Rashne whom she met earlier in the library. Smacking herself on the forehead for forgetting something as important as a lunch meeting in addition to her losing her transfer letter (not to mention the graceful display in the garden), Scarlett was ready to find the darkest, quietest hole to climb into. Never to be seen again.

"Well, let's just hope the letter hasn't grown legs and walked off," she said walking in the direction of the library.
Rashne
Once inside the library Ra changed his mind. Why spend a perfectly good afternoon stuck inside the musty old building. He had plenty of time to catch up on science, besides, he was new they would expect him to be a bit behind.

His encounter with Chiitra and the impromptue football game had given him a massive boost in confidence. He felt that now he could explore on his own without being nervous about bumping into new people.

As he turned to leave he noticed a brown envelope on the floor. Out of curiosity he picked it up.
'Quixote' it declared in bold print. It looked like an official letter, he would be able to hand it in at the admin office as he explored the campus. Yawning he pushed open the heavy doors and stepped out of the library.

Scarlett
Scarlett's pace quickened has she reached the library. How long had it been since her and Brae left there to go to the gardens? She needed to find that letter and find it fast. The last thing she needed to lose was the only key to her new life here at Aquilla. The weather was clear and gorgeous. Truly a fine day for playing outside-- provided that Scarlett had an athletic bone in her body that was.

Here it is! she swelled with relief. Found the library all on my own.

She charged toward the door, it swung outwardly knocking her to the ground.

"I'm so sorry! Are you all right?!" she gasped.

Rashne
"Are you alright?" He cried looking down at the girl he had met that morning. She didn't seem to be having much luck today. "I'm sorry." He continued holding out his hand. "I didn't see you."
He hoped he hadn't hurt the small girl, she looked as if she was about to cry.

Scarlett
"Oh, y-yes," she said rubbing her forehead where the door hit her.

She looked up at the taller boy and hesitated for a moment before taking his hand. As he pulled her to her feet, she stared at him with wide eyes. His features were very attractive, especially his eyes. She remembered him as the boy she met this morning.

"You are handsome... I mean Rashne, right?" she said feeling her cheeks completely flush.

Rashne
Ra blinked and raised an eyebrow. He can't have heard her right.
"I...er...yes. I'm Rashne." He said releasing her hand and feeling rather uncomfortable. He can't have heard her right. "You're Scarlett?" He said hoping he had got her name right. He had only met her briefly. "I'm sorry I didn't join you and your friend for lunch." He mumbled feeling slightly guilty.

Scarlett
"Sorry, I think that door hit me harder than I thought," she said trying to lighten the mood a bit. "It didn't help that this is the second time I've hit my head today."

Her heart was pounding wildly in her chest. How could she have said something so stupid like that? It's not that Rashne wasn't attractive. On the contrary, Scarlett found him unbelievably attractive. He reminded her of an actor she had seen in a movie once. The way he carried himself indicated to her that he was not only older, but far more mature than she was.

"Y-yes, I am Scarlett," she said shaking herself back into reality. "Please do not worry about lunch. It's only the first day for us. There will be more chances I'm sure." Actually, it turned into a huge disaster she thought bitterly. Yeah, like this guy's going to want to be seen with Scarlett the Spanish Disaster. She forced her best smile, but her eyes remained fixed on the ground. She knew that she had made him uncomfortable, and she waited for his announcement of departure.

Rashne
Ra smiled at the girl in an attempt to make her feel more at ease. Her uneasiness was making him nervous again.

"You seem to be in a hurry. Is everything alright?" He asked, half wondering where the not so wholesome students hid to smoke. It had been at least three hours since his last cigarette.

Scarlett
"I'm not really in a hurry," she said wringing the strap of her bag in her hands. "It's just that I've lost something."

Taking a look at the clear sky, Scarlett smiled. She needed to relax. Everything was just running her down.

"F-feel like going for a w-walk?" she said noticing him looking around a little. "It'sa n-nice day today."

Rashne
"Sure." He shrugged. It's not like he had anything else to do. Scarlett looked like she might need someone to talk to. He had always been a good listener.
"What did you lose?" He asked.

Scarlett
"You're going to get a good laugh at it, I'm sure," she said turning her back to him and pointing at a path that seemed to wander off away from the school center.

"Shall we go that way?"

What was she doing? If Brae saw her suddenly with this new boy what would he think? Would he be angry? I mean they just met. It's her first day here. He can't get upset that she's trying to make more friends, right? No one is that selfish and possessive, right?

"Actually, I lost something extremely important," she said not turning to look at him. "I lost my transfer information packet. My welcome letter. Class schedule. Dorm assignment information. Everything. I've been here a grand total of five hours, and I've completely shot myself in the foot."

Rashne
Ra shoved his hands in his pockets and followed the girl down the path. It was good to have someone in the same position to talk to, even if she did seem a bit hyper.
"Shot yourself in the foot?" He asked unfamiliar with the phrase. "Where did you last have your letter?" He asked trying to be helpfull. He hadn't even looked at his letter. One of the accomadation officials had shown him to his room when he arrived late the previous evening.

Scarlett
"I sound nervous, don't I?" she said noticing how quiet Rashne was. "I think I am just tired from the flight. I never expected to change schools so quickly.

"To 'shoot yourself in the foot' means to do something which is completely to your own disadvantage. I read it in a fiction book my cousin in the United States sent me." Scarlett said trying to not use Spanish. "In my case, I lost the envelope which has all my important school documents. Until I find my way to the office, as I am now without a campus map, I have no idea where anything is and where I need to be."

Scarlett's mind was reeling. Her mouth was running 189 kilometers per hour, nonstop. The more she tried not to talk, the more she kept on spewing words at Rashne. She felt guilty that she was boring him to death when there were many for more interesting people on campus.

Continuation of Dinner @ Rashne's(link)

Rashne
Ra located the plates in one of the still packed boxes his parents had sent him. Taking them out he brought them to where the two girls were sitting and placed them on the carpet.

"Wow Scarlett. This all looks amazing." He said looking from the food to the sangria. "Well, you know technically it would actually be sacriledge for me to have dinner 'with' it." He paused for a second glancing around the room as if wine glasses would magically appear. "Umm I don't have any glasses...would mugs do?"

Chiitra

Rashne
"I said technically." He laughed grabbing three clean mugs from a shelf. "I do a lot of things I 'technically shouldn't"He continued sitting on the floor opposite and placing the mugs down. The food smelled delicious and as for the alcohol, his friend Saj used to have parties all the time. Besides it would give him another excuse not to take the sleeping pills.

"Shall I pour?" He asked trying to make himself a bit more useful. He wasn't sure what else to say. Maybe conversation would come easier once they began eating....and drinking.

Chiitra
Chii felt somewhat awkward now, Ra was helping with the drinks and Scarlett was doing the food....and Chii, she was just sitting there waiting. hmmm...."Should I put some music on? Just in the background?" Music was always a good idea.

Scarlett
Scarlett became absorbed in the moment. Cooking meals and sharing them with company was something she lived for. She finished serving and set the plates in front of Chii and Ra. "I hope you enjoy it." Scarlett though for a moment before continuing. "Chiitra, have you always been a student here?"

Rashne
Ra finished pouring the drinks and looked up as Chii spoke. He smiled. "Sounds like a good idea Chii. My CD collection is in the box behind you. I'm not sure if there is much background music though...there might be some Iranian folk stuff that my Mum gave me."

He wasn't sure he was going to make many friends if she pulled out any of the heavier stuff. As he set the mugs down on the mat it struck him, had they spoken about music? That was usually the first thing on his list of things to speak about with people. "Choose whatever takes your fancy." He grinned sitting down and crossing his legs.

Chiitra

Rashne
As the sound of a pulsing base rose from the stereo speakers and the deep German tones filled the room Ra grinned across at Chiitra. "Good choice." He said slightly nodding his head in time with the music. Of course he had no idea what was being said but that didn't matter. It wasn't exactly what you called dinner music but hey, it was better than the Iranian folk s**t his mother sent him.

"Hey Chii. Me and Scarlett were discussing Christmas the other day." He began, taking a sip of the sangria and edging a plate of food closer. "Are you joining your parents for Christmas?"

Chiitra

Scarlett

December 04-2005 (=07=)
Rashne Kusani (Midnight_Medea)
"Ireland." Ra mused. "I'd like to go there one day." He said sitting down on a cushion and crossing his legs. Hmm learning Japanese wasn7t something he had started to do yet. Languages being his strong point he wasn't too worried. He was however slightly concerned about Brae's mentions of his home life. "I'm from Iran." He said smiling. He was quite flattered that Brae thought he carried himself well. "Well, originally. I've just spent three years in the U.k though. How long did it take you to learn Japanese?"

Brae O'Fossen (Rown)
"Ireland is really pretty, so different from here. As for Iran and the UK, I've never been...and don't really plan on going. Once my time here is complete I will either kill myself or go back home." Brae pulled his legs up against his frame, resting his chin against his knees with a sigh. "As for learning Japansese, it took me nearly five full months just to master basic conversation. Reading and writing is still out of my grasp. I have to use a dictionary, so sometimes..." He stopped, looking out towards the window.

"Ne, Ra. Have you ever wondered why humans can't survive long falls from anything....yet we still desire to leap?"

Scarlett Quixote (KaleidoscopeGrl)
Scarlett finally gathered her things together. She hadn't really realized how distracted she had been until she glanced at the clock and saw how long she had been in her apartment. 'Oh god, they are probably wondering where I ran off to!'

Warming the cake up in the microwave, Scarlett headed back down the hall to Ra's room.

"Sorry to have vanished like that," she said hurrying back into the room. "I couldn't find something.

Rashne
Ra frowned as Brae talked about killing himself. But then again hadn't he thought the same thing countless times before. But that was defeatest, if you gave in then it meant that others had won.

Brae's piece of philosophy intrigued him. It was an interesting point. "Humans have a desire to learn." He bagan, looking down at the patterns in the carpet. "A need to discover and explore. Ignorance breeds fear, we need to leap to learn." He added hoping that Brae was talking metaphorically. Scarlett's arrival knocked him out of his melancholy mood and he smiled. "Hi Scarlett, tea?"

Brae
Brae's lips quivered as Ra spoke, his eyes still downcast. "The only thing we learn is that dying hurts and that leaping would be alright if it wasn't for that." He reached behind himself and rubbed his back, starting to speak. "Actions are louder than words, so we learn by..." He stopped though, as Ra vocalized the return of Scarlett. Right away the young Irish teen's face flushed to a dark shade of red, and he stammered a greeting as well. "He...hello, Scarlett."

Scarlett
"Oh I would love some tea, Ra," Scarlett said smiling. "Where's Chiitra? Hey, Brae, glad you could make it."

Rashne
His attention back to Brae, Ra frowned. He had been talking seriously, he actually meant leaping literally. The mention of death made Ra's eyes glaze over. He wondered if the Irish boy had seen death as he had. Seen what it did to those left living and those that survived. Taking a deep breath he stood.

"Um, I have no idea, where Chii went. I hope she's alright." He said snapping back to reality. Desperatly he tried to think of a way to brighten up the conversation as he went to get the kettle.

"So Scarlett what cake do you have?"

BRae
So death rattled Ra's brain eh? Brae watched as the teen rose and quickly changed topics, a thin glimmer in his eyes. It was fun to observe what other people felt about certain subjects...although he hardly ever observed do to his clear and obvious fear of people. He would have pushed the topic further but Scarlett was now here and there was cake...so two of Brae's weaknesses had been pulled into play. "Did I hear him say you have cake?"

He smiled brightly, rubbing his head.

Scarlett
"It's carrot cake actually," Scarlett said holding it out victoriously. "Baked it this morning."

Scarlett was surprised that Chiitra had just disappeared. She was looking forward to getting to know Ra's new friend. She was also relieved that Brae found his way up to Ra's dorm room.

Rashne
Ra took the kettle and poured the steaming water into the teapot. The rose scent of the tea hitting his senses and making him think of home. He wrinkled his nose at the thought of cake. Bringing the teapot and cups to the carpet he set them on the floor and waited for the tea to brew.

"You put carrots in cake?"

Brae
Brae's face blanched at the words 'carrot cake'. Brae really really didn't like carrots...but he couldn't refuse to eat the cake twice. He'd done it earlier...so now he would have to eat. "I'd be more than happy to have a peice...and I don't think the are carrots in the cake itself...right?" He laughed nervously, trying to pull himself away from the door. His feet and body has been slowly creeping that way as soon as Scarlett had entered the room.

"If there are carrots in it...that would be odd."

Scarlett
Scarlett raised an eyebrow. She worried if her English was incorrect. "Yes, there are carrots in the recipe, but very little.

"It's more of a spiced cake. You don't have to try it you don't want to."

Scarlett was nervous. She had been lucky with her previous culinary endeavours, but worried that the success would be dashed with a bad batch of cake.

Chiitra Weatherly (Mordavrin)
Chii was leaned up against the wall as she shuffled down the hallway. Apparently the sangria had hit her harder than she'd expected, and while she'd been fine during her trip to her room, the return journey was proving less than pleasant. But she'd gotten what she'd set out to get, although now it seemed kinda pointless. Slowly she inched into Ra's doorway. "I'm back. Ran into a spot of trouble though." she grinned.
Miranthia: In her right hand was a bottle of russian vodka.

Rashne
Ra raised his eyebrows. So Carrot cake did have carrots in it. That was interesting. He listened to their talk of cake as he poured out the tea. Wondering if he should go and make sure Chii was alright. As he began to pour the tea into the second cup she appeared in the doorway. Brandishing a bottle of vodka in one hand and supporting herself against the doorway. "Are you alright?" He asked putting the teapot down and placing one of the cups infront of Scarlett. "You haven't been sipping that on the way up have you?" He joked grabbing another cushion from the window seat and throwing it onto the carpet."

Brae
With Ra's sudden movements towards the door Brae turned and looked, mildly surprised to see Chii standing there. It had been a while, but he was quite happy to see her. Someone he knew from a while ago, someone he felt okay around. With her here he wouldn't be so scared and uptight...at least he hoped. Then he saw what she had in her hand, the liquid in the clear glass. Vodka. Brae's favourite drink over anything. If they were to offer him anything...the night would really get interesting, to say the least. "Chii, you look a little rough. How have you been?"

Scarlett
Scarlett took a deep breath of the rose scented tea. She was surprised to learn of Rashne's tea making ability. She thought it was interesting to find a guy with a passion for tea of all things.

"This smells divine," she said taking another whiff before sipping. "My gosh, Ra, this tea is gorgeous! Where did you buy it?"

Scarlett's smile broadened seeing Chiitra return. "Would you like some cake?"

Chiitra
Chii giggled, then stumbled into the room. "No no. I brought it because, well, I've been saving it for a special occasion and I figured this was special. So, yeah.." She grinned as she wobbled further into the room. She was going to wobble on over to Ra but then she noticed Brae. She let out a little squeal and sort of half ran half hobbled over to him, and gave him a HUGE hug.

"Sir Brae! It's soo good to seee you. How I've missed you so!" She snugged him one last time before plopping herself down beside him. Hearing Scarlett address her she looked over. "Cake? mmmmm. I'd love some cake! oh and tea too!" She smiled at Ra.

Rashne
Grinning to himself he poured some tea out for Chii and placed it in front of her. "I didn't buy it." He said in answer for Scarlett's question. It's rose tea. Kind of like the unnoficial Iranian national drink. Made in accordance with an ancient family recipe."

He paused to take a sip of it. "I'd give you the recipe, but if I told you I'd have to kill you." He said blankly sitting back on his cushion and holding
persephone0medea: the cup in his hands. "Come on then Brae, drink up. You too, Scarlett. You're waaay too sober."

BRae
Brae quickly took the glass in his hands, downing it without a second thought. The alcohol had been offered, and like hell he woudl refuse something like that. He ignored Ra's devilish grin that had come with the placing of the cup, and once it was empty he held it out once more in a manner of eagerness. "Another, please. It'll take a good deal to knock me back." He chuuckled softly, hiccuping as the vodka tried to settle in his stomach.

"Also it's good to see you haven't changed Chii. I'm really happy to see you too."

Scarlett
Scarlett smiled at Ra's playful threat about the tea. She was surprised to see Brae drain the glass of vodka so quickly.

"I'll just have a little bit," she said sheepishly.

Her parents would kill her for drinking in school of all places. After all, her parents weren't keen on her transferring schools after what happened to her last time.

'I just need to pace myself'. she whispered {x}
l
Chiitra
Chii sidled over to a spot in between Ra and Brae with her cup of tea being. Once settled she brought it up to her nose and inhaled deeply, letting the pungent scent invade her senses before taking a long slow sip. Setting the cup down, she smiled, a quiet smile.

"It's really wonderful Ra." She gazed up at him before turning her attention back to Brae. Seeing him down the vodka as if it were coca cola, she gasped in horror. *twitch twitch*

"Slow down Brae. This isn't just any vodka. It's some of russia's finest. It's waaaay stronger than anything else." But he'd already finished and was apparently going back for more! She was astounded.

Quote:
Ra raised his eyebrows as Brae downed the vodka. He hoped the small boy could hold his drink and thought that they should maybe move the party off the expensive carpet.

Pouring himself some vodka he accepted the compliments on the tea with a pinch of salt. It was only a simple recipe. Not one of his Grandmother's best sellers.

Taking a sip he decided that he should pace himself too. If anything happened to any of them as the eldest he would be held responsible. He winced as the alcohol burned his throat. This was good stuff.

After filling and drinking from his cup a third time, as the second had occured jsut as fast as the first, Brae felt his stomach churn a little. It wasn't nasuea that pushed at him, just simple happiness. He used to drink at home like this despite his age, mainly because his parents forced it on him when they used him as a shrink. Years of drinking would probably kill him, but for now all it did was make him feel warm. Warm enough...that he wanted to shed a few layers of clothing.

"Uah...it's hot in here." Brae tugged at the collar of his shirt with his right index finger, his facec flushed an unusual shade of pinkish brown.

"Would anyone mind if I took off my shirt...?" not that the question mattered, because within moments the shirt was off and on his lap, his bare skin exposed. He looked okay for a thirteen-year old, if you could ignore the large scars that ran down his stomach and back like someone had clawed him viciously. "Ah...now for more drink..."
Scarlett
Scarlett dropped the rest of her hot tea across her lap at the sight of Brae taking his shirt off. Her face flushed and jaw gaped. She could not believe what Brae was doing.

"s**t!" she gasped. "Ra, I-I'm s-s-s-o s-s-s-orr-r-r-y!" Scarlett's voice was high and frustrated. Reaching for a napkin, she knocked over her vodka, too.

Chhitra
Seeing Brae down three cups of vodka and then rip off his shirt, Chii began to giggle, until she saw his scars. Scars, like Ra. She wondered how Ra would react. She woudl have looked at him but just then Scarlett let out a shriek.

Kaleido's Notes
- Location: Dorm Room #10
- Theme: Moving In?!
- Starring: Scarlett & Rashne?!
Status: OPEN (17-Jan-06)

With less than 24 hours to pack up and move, Scarlett was finally settling down in her new room. Thankfully, she didn't have to bring the furniture from her temporary assignment with her. The majority of her possessions remained packed, stacked neatly under the window beside her wardrobe. Looking at her room transfer sheet for the umpteenth time, Scarlett worried about whom her new room mate would be.

"Please let it be someone..." Scarlett wished softly. "Normal."

Scarlett called the assignments office several times, but they were unable to disclose her roommate's information. She decided not to let it bother her because eventually the other girl would show up. Opening the wardrobe, Scarlett began unpacking and hanging her clothes. Singing softly to herself in Spanish.
