Cam's normally dark colors looked a touch paler. She sat, trembling slightly, with her eyes tightly clenched shut. "I'm okay," she replied, voice as shaky as her body. It was a lie. The vixen was still just as terrified.
This was how Cam normally dealt with storms. She was such a calm and level-headed vixen to her tribe, it scared her that they might discover this side of her and take back all the respect she had come to earn. So everytime a large storm hit she would disappear to some unused part of the castle ruins and just wait it out. Alone and scared.
Never before had another fox witnessed her breakdown. It shamed Cam a little, though she had to admit Keith's company did help a bit with her fear.

He frowned as he watched the pore vixen. She was trying her hardest not to show fear but he could see through it. He tried to think of something that he could do to make the female feel more comfortable. So far the only thing he could come up with was to get close to her and try to get her to stop shaking. So thats exactly want he did.
Keith stood and walked over to her so that he was sitting right next to her.
"I'm not really good at things like this but... Some times it helps to lay down and snuggle with someone... A family member or friend..." He tried not to sound too creepy. "Its just... when I was little I use to see kits and adults that were scared snuggle with etch other to feel comfort and safety..." He looked down at her. "I just want you to know... that your welcome to snuggle with me if you like... I don't bite... much" He was trying to break the ice with laughter.

Cam laughed along with Keith. She had already leaned into his warmth before she could consciously decide, and found that his solid and comforting prescence did indeed make the shaking stop. When thunder crashed overhead this time she only twitched rather than the tiny jumps she had been preforming.
"I know I don't bite, but I've been told by the kits in the tribe that I can deliver a mean cuff when they misbehave." And they really had to misbehave before the easy-going scholar disciplined them.
"Let's just hope the day doesn't come when we're stuck on a rock in the ocean in the middle of the storm. I fear we would be wailing worse than babies." Cam winced slightly at the mental picture it presented.

Keith smiled down at her as she leaned into him. He was glad he could help with her fear in some way. He could tell she was a little more relaxed cause when the thunder went off again she didn't really jump as much. That made him happy to know that she was no longer scared as much. He slid his tail around her where she sat to try and comfort her more.
"Well I would have to say I agree." he chuckled. "I can tell that your pretty strong. If I were those kits I would think twice about making trouble." He smiled as he looked out into the sea of rain falling. "Oh I agree. Getting stuck out on a rock would not be fun at all."
((just to let you know his tail is on the ground its just wrapped around her backside with the tip to where her front paws are))

Cam nodded and for a moment the pair sat in silence, just watching the rain outside. A storm this big and sudden shouldn't last long, but at the moment it showed no signs of letter up.
Thunder shook the earth underneath them. Cam shivered. Talking make the shakes much better, so she tried to start up a new line of conversation. "So you're a wanderer. Have any family?"

As he sat in silence and watched the rain out side he felt the fox next to him shiver. He glanced over at her.
"Your cold... if you like you can lay down next to me... I know it may not be much but it may help to warm you..." He smiled warmly. He would hate for her to catch a cold when he could possibly do something about it. "Oh... yes." he nodded. "As for family... I'm not sure... i've never met my mother or father..."

Cam shook her head a little at Keith's suggestion to lay down. "Stone is cold, and it steals warmth. This is actually much better." She flicked her tail to indicate the position they were currently sitting in.
Her face was sympathetic when Keith mentioned never meeting his mother or father. It was a common enough occurance in their world and most foxes were fine for it. Some maybe even better. Still, she had seen the closeness those with blood bonds had and thought it was a shame so many foxes didn't at least have the chance to know their family.
"I haven't seen my parents since I was a kit. I had a horrible sense of direction, and I fear I blend too easily into surroundings."

Keith nodded to her answer. She was right about the stone being cold. How could he have forgotten that simple little thing? He looked away slightly with a little blush on his face. Was he so flustered around her that he couldn't think straight? This had been the longest time he had ever spent with a female... well the only female he had ever met.
He frowned then looked at her with a sad expression.
"I do wish I knew who my parents were..." He shrugged. "I just figured... if they didn't come back... they weren't ever going too..." He looked up into the dark sky. "Mm... I'm sorry." He looked down. "You must really miss them..."

Cam looked a little wistful. "I don't really remember then, not very well. Just feelings and impressions.
She was silently wondering about Keith. He was very kind. How many other foxes would go so far to try to comfort another they had only recently met? It did Cam's heart good to meet Keith, like she was meeting a kindred soul. His might even be better than hers.

Once again he couldn't help but frown. They were almost the same. They both seemed to no know much about their parents... only she was able to make good of her life. He had just tried to run away from it... always moving from place to place instead of settling down.
"It would seem that is one thing we share..." He was referring to them not knowing much about their parents. "It saddens me to know a gentle soul like yourself lost your loved ones..." He was just assuming... he wasn't quite sure why she didn't have her parents but didn't want to press the matter and upset her.
((OMG! I love it! After you post the next time I will change it! That way you know from this post that I'm doing that.))

Cam smiled, and gently butted her head againt Keith's chin in a guesture of affection. "I like to think they're happy, wherever they are, and that I have many little brothers and sisters running around out there.
Besides," she continued, staring out into the rain while she spoke, "I found a family. We're all close in the tribe, we look out for one another."

Keith blushed when he felt Cam's head on his chin. His only reaction was to close his eyes and lower his head so that he had nuzzled her. He had hoped that it wouldn't seen to weird but he was just trying to so her the same affection.
"I do hope what you say is true... it means that one day you may see them again..." He followed her gaze out into the rain. "Your tribe sounds like a wonderful place."

"It is," Cam replied. Outside the thunder and lightning had diminished to only the occasional distant flash and a quiet rumble. The large ocean storm had blown the worst of it deeper into the forest. Rain still poured down, but at a steady and normal rate.
"As the head scholar of the tribe I was given the stories of the tribe's entire history. Even the details before we foxes came here." Cam paused, just remembering. "I don't suppose it's been an entirely happly one up until this point though. We're trying our best to bring the fortune of the Caledonia tribe around."

He looked down at her. He was glad to hear that. He had never visited or been to a tribe before but he had heard about them before. It was good to know that her tribe was doing good. He then looked out into the storm.
"It looks like the storm is passing..." When he heard her mention that she was a scholar he looked back. "Amazing... you know everything about your tribe even the past of when you were not around?"

Cam nodded. "I don't know if I'm the first scholar the tribe as ever had, but I believe I am the first in awhile. Our deity granted all of the history of the tribe, and this area, to me. It will be my job to pass the knowledge on to other scholars."
There weren't many young ones in the tribe yet, not that had shown an interest in what they wished to be when they grew up, anyway. For now Cam merely told stories to any who requested them, and waited.
