Scarath looked around at all his clutch mates with happy whirling eyes. 'It is good we are together. Mine lets go mingle' Determinedly the bronze made his way through the crowd, stopping to chat with any dragon who caught his eye.
S'kor followed the dragon on his rounds. He smiled politely at the other riders, but didn't stop to talk unless they started a conversation.

Lerath tossed his head and gave Optheli and affirming look at her question. Mine is not, the blue answered Dynith, seemingly amused. He was sleeping. Are you well today?
V’al gave Optheli a cursory nod as he took his place by her and his dragon. He rubbed at his eyes, squinting against he sun, and looked ready to ignore his roommate until he suddenly seemed to change his mind. “I forget how big D’can’s brown is sometimes,” he said in a low tone, glancing at the impressive dragon’s massive form.

"Look mine, our bunkmates have arrived, you should say hello, it is only proper" Plexith warbled in D'lin's mind practically as soon as he caught sight of N'ian and his blue. "I don't know Plex...I'm not always sure..." D'lin started to say, letting his voice trail off when Plexith so obviously ignored his complaints to sit up on his haunches and attempt to get Suvith's attention.
"Suvith!, Mine is here - bunkmates ought to say hello it is proper!" Plexith warbled to the other dragonet. "Bring your's here" He demanded in well a typically bronze like way, it never really crossed Plexith's mind that the other dragonet might have other plans, he was blue, Plexith was bronze and as far as Plexith was concerned that pretty much meant his demands superseded the other's plans.
D'lin for his part merely sighed and offered a tentative wave to his bunkmate - while some of the other had clearly boned by being bunkmates D'lin still wasn't sure where he and N'ian stood, but it would please Plexith if he made some effort and possibly save him another round of grumbling and complaining later.

Optheli grinned. "Ah well, there's plenty of room here." She nodded back, then looked towards the brown in question. "He is big and handsome." Wondering what brought that comment on, she reached back and patted Dynith reassuringly.
Dynith trills softly, 'No, Your's doesn't look excited. He will wake up as we go through drills. I am, thank you. Are you ready?' She eyed the pattern laid out and her eyes whirled yellow.

Grawareth, I suppose we'd better get started then. No use in keeping dragonets with short attention spans waiting, right? Grawareth?
When the Weyrlingmaster got no reply from his dragon he looked up and was exasperated to see that familiar Crimsonrider with her arms wrapped around his dragon's front leg, her face rubbing against his side. At her side her own dragonet looked a little unhappy that someone else was getting the affection, though from the overall looks of it no one was being hurt in that situation.
Gray, get her off you.
She's latched on, but will move when the lesson starts. Go ahead and get everyone else in order.
The massive dragon let out something like a sign in perfect time with his rider, though he made no effort to shake Ofelia off. This wasn't the first time a Weyrling or Candidate had ever clung to him (or so D'can remembered) and both were pretty sure it wouldn't be the last.
"Alright riders, I need you all to line up over here. Have your dragonets stay over there in the circle I've marked on the ground, as they'll be going over this pattern in a moment. For the time being they need to be away from your side, so keep an eye on those that like to stick together - I don't want them under foot during this exercise."
The Weyrlingmaster's command came quickly, his words loud and sharp enough to distract all of those who may have been in conversation. The spot that he was talking about, the large circle, was situatited near Grawareth and had been marked off on the ground with some kind of white chalk. It was a large enough circle to hold all the dragonets inside without having them to squish together, and the man waited for people to get moving and follow his instructions. Time was wasting, not that he was in any kind of hurry. It was important though that he find out which amongst the Candidates could respond quickly to his instructions, though he hoped all of them could do such things.
"Once you've got your dragonet in the circle I need you to partner up with another of your dragon's color. That means Bronzerider with Bronzerider, Brown with Brown, so on and so forth. For the atypicals if you do not have a partner, go with the person who's dragon will likely be closer to yours in size - that means Crimsons with Browns, Silvers with Bronzes, Blacks and Blues. Do we have any questions? If not, get in the line and we'll start as soon as everyone's ready."
Little ones, stay close to me even though you must be away from Yours for the moment. They are not leaving you, so you will be safe at my side.
The brown sent out a bugle of reassurance and a mindspeak to all the dragonets who might have been nervous without Theirs at their side. For most of these lessons neither rider nor dragon had been kept apart for any length of time, always at one another's side, but even a small distance such as several dragon lengths was more than enough to unease any freshly shelled dragon. It was Grawareth's job to keep the dragonets calm while their riders walked the massive and thoroughly marked pattern grounds, and then it would be his job to help coach them all through when it became their turn.

G'brel was distracted from any further conversation when the Weyrlingmaster began to speak. After he had finished giving out his instructions, she told Lifth, Well, you heard the man. Into the circle you go while I find another bluerider.
Yes, yes, I'm going, Lifth replied, vaguely annoyed by the repeat orders being given from all sides. He was no simpleton and had understood them well enough the first time. The young blue strode easily enough over to the inside of the circle, turning his attention back onto the riders once he was in position. This should be interesting to watch at the very least.
G'brel, meanwhile, was searching out a bluerider to partner up with. "Hey, V'al, need a teammate?" she asked with an amiable grin. The other bluerider may not have necessarily been the friendliest person from what she had seen, but as members of the Weyr they would need to work together regardless. Plus it was always kind of fun dealing with the serious ones.

V’al nodded in agreement, but Weyrlingmaster was already speaking.
While his chosen was paying attention to critical matters, Lerath stretched his wings high to display his eagerness. Yes. Do you think it will be hard? The blue had noticed Dynith’s worried whirling eyes. Here, come. We will be fine.
V’al turned to relay instructions, but Lerath only paused long enough to receive a sturdy pat on the neck before turning away. He gave a faint smile of approval before looking over the group of Candidates. He wasn’t sociable by nature, but he wanted to make a pick quickly rather than waiting for the last, shyest bluerider to approach him. Luckily the decision made itself quickly, and he gave the approaching girl and affirming nod. “G’brel,” he said by way of greeting. He’d gotten to know the names of all those that had Impressed, though he hadn’t spoken with her much yet. “Sure. Let’s wipe this thing out.”

Akaya had thought it was going to be difficult to persuade Sleeth away, but her green had other plans, dashing for the circle besides Grawareth like she was trying to win a race. He said we are not to be underfoot! Sleeth protested at Akaya's doubt.
That may be true, dear, but remember you have to stay over there. Akaya suspected that would be where the real trouble would lie. And I think you are probably supposed to watch, so try not to get distracted, all right?
All right! Sleeth chorused back, with a little audible trill for emphasis. The girl shook her head ruefully, and then looked around. Well, she had more than a few choices, being a greenrider... Still, it was Optheli she moved towards with a shy smile.
"Hello, Optheli! Would you mind being my partner?" Akaya said, ducking a head slightly in informal greeting. She remembered that the young girl'd been one of the Stands Impressions--and her older brother had Impressed bronze? Ah, yes, that was right. They hadn't spoken much before, but Akaya thought her the friendly sort.

N'ymi had made it to time to lessons with Daroth toddling behind her. The two had become extremely close in the past couple of months staying almost exclusively to themselves. She had barely gotten to know her bunkmate, Malina or her dragon Bonth, but since neither of them bothered her, N'ymi really did not care.
When D'can started to talk about their latest exercise, the blue rider snorted. This would be too easy. She was determined to be one of the best riders to come from their clutch and as such, they had been speaking almost exclusively mind to mind. Some had jested that they had gone mute. You will be okay, Dar?
Bobbing his head, he moved towards Lifth, the one blue he had met before and almost liked. But then that blue moved away from him and he was left standing alone and getting a little grumpy. Find someone Nasuymi.
Sighing, N'ymi unfolded her arms and looked around for another blue rider or perhaps maybe one of the silvers to pair up with but realized that perhaps her stand-offish nature was hindering her this time around. She spotted N'ian and gave a half wave. "Care to pair up?"

S'kor was walking along with his bronze when the Weyrlingmaster started giving orders. He glanced over to see Scarath already heading to the circle confidently with tail held high. It seemed he had nothing to worry about there. Looking around he searched for a bronze or silver rider to pair with.
Scarath stepped quickly into the circle and turned around to watch. He seated himself and tucked his tail around his legs to keep it out of the way of the others.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
For a moment, Optheli worried. Would she be able to get Dynith to do as asked? Fortunately it appeared she wouldn't have to hunt for a partner. "Hi Akaya," she smiled. "Sure, that would be great. Let me just get Dynith into the circle."
Quickly she lead the nervous green over to the circle and coaxed her in. "It wont be long, and you'll have all the other dragonets here with you and Grawareth. It'll be fine." After making sure her dragon was settled, Optheli threw a glance toward the Weyrlingmaster. Hopefully she hadn't taken too long getting Dynith in the circle.
She went to meet up with Akaya again and exhaled. "Wooo. Sorry about that. Thanks for being my partner. This is great." She gave her a big grin.
Dynith bobbed her head. 'Not for Mine, I think, or for Your's.' Her eyes whirled faster when she heard they had to separate from Theirs. Still she allowed Hers to lead her to the circle. Before she could really start to worry though, she moved by Lerath. 'Do we really have to be separate?' She whispered for the blue alone.
"Definitely," the teen replied, glad that he had agreed so easily. "Let's get in line then." She was determined to get things done quickly while still doing them correctly. She wasn't about to be beaten so easily by the other Weyrlings in this lesson.
Pay close attention to instruction, Mine, and I will watch with you, Lifth remarked simply, know his rider's thoughts. Even in their relatively small time together, he already knew quite well of her competitive streak. He went along with it, even if he found the whole matter rather pointless. He already knew that they were the best of the lot gathered, so there was no real reason to bother proving it to everyone else. They were likely too dense to be able to appreciate it anyway.
Of course I'm going to be paying close attention. What else would I be doing?
You tend to get distracted.
I do not! Well, not all the time anyway.
You are distracted right now.
... Shut up. She settled her attention pointedly back onto the Weyrlingmaster, ignoring any further remarks by her dragon. The blue appeared mildly amused by this, but said nothing further.
"It's all right," Akaya said with a sympathetic smile for the younger girl. "I was surprised Sleeth was so biddable. I'm worried it won't last though."
And well the young woman knew her draconic partner; it took approximately two minutes before Sleeth begin looking fidgety. Naturally, this meant she turned towards her familiar blue 'friend'. Lifth, do you know when it's going to start? I don't want to just sit here but Akayamine will be mad if I move around lots. But I'm boooooored.
Lifth gave the dragonic equivalent of a sigh when his bunkmate sought him out within the circle. Why did the green always have to insist on talking to him when there were plenty of other Weyrlings about to annoy? Soon I would expect, he replied, not bothering to look over at her. Perhaps you could count the clouds in the sky to pass the time. Or catch up with some of our fellows. Just so long as it didn't involve him having to keep her entertained. It was bad enough having to deal with her at night as it was.
Well, time to make a start then. K'ro laid a hand on Viridith's head and gestured towards the circle. "It won't be for long," he assured her, remembering to work on his mind-speaking. "Just watch what's happening, given you'll be going over this soon."
"...You are Mine. Remember that." Viridith's eyes swirled dull orange just for a briefly before fading back to a dull blue. For another heartbeat or two the green stood stock still, watching her rider intently. After a few moments however, she gave a low hiss and turned to stalk towards the circle. "I will stay beside you, Grawareth," she said in sharp mental tones, "I will complete the lesson well, but he is Mine. The other humans may not have him." Hers. Nobody else's. Hers.
Well, at least she was going, but K'ro detected a more... more intense air to her stalk than usual. She wasn't about to start any trouble - he didn't think so anyway - but she was clearly unhappy about this separation. "I'm sorry," he said to his bondmate, "but if we're going to do well in a wing we'll need to follow the lessons. It'll be alright, I'm always yours, don't worry."
"Very well," Viridith gave another soft hiss, but K'ro felt her relax a little, "if you say it will be alright, I believe you." She could trust what he said. He was Hers.
Good. That was that sorted. With the hurdle of his antsy green partner sorted, K'ro cast around for another green rider to partner with.
F'ren snapped to attention as the weyrlingmaster spoke, he didn't much like ordering Toulonth away to the circle, he liked to be able to see her all of the time. He sighed and bent to his dragon "Toulonth, you need to go over there with the others of your clutch, i will be just over here" Mine i will be alright, make sure you tell me everything so that i can remember for you if you do not. This made F'ren chuckle and with a gentle hug his dragon made her way to the others Sleeth! Scarath, Hello clutchmates!
Turning he saw that many of the riders had already been pairing up, leaving him one of the few without a partner, he noticed one other looking about too and wandered over. "looking for a partner...um....er....Viridith says Hers is called K'ro ah yes ... K'ro, you have a Green don't you?" he said to the other, with the prompt from his dragon
