I've really liked "Lyra's Oxford." The gypsies are awsome, and her familiar is really paranoid sometimes. What I really liked was the harpies in the third book. The end was sad, yet she had hope about it.

Probably my favourite books of all time - he is an excellent author.
Forgive me if I'm wrong but wasn't Lyra's Oxford supposed to be full of cryptic codes to help the reader figure out where the next book would be set?
I read it and got a few ideas from it.

eek Really? I have to read it over again, then.
If I had a daemon... hum. I don't know what it would be. When it settles, of course. I guess, maybe, it would be an owl. Some kind of owl.

I loved these books! Though I didnt know there was something called Lyra's Oxford.. definately something to look into if that's the case. And there's going to be a movie!? Hmm.. the Daemons could be a let down.. I thought that the series had the potential to be a complete and utter let down (because it was so good) but I was thoroughly satisfied with the ending..

Fantastic books. I borrowed them all from a friend, and ended up buying them for myself.
Lyra's Oxford? *curious*

I love the series! I read all three books in a week I was so into it. That's a record for my reading speed. I didn't know there was something called Lyra's Oxford either, but I think I'll check up on it then. And the ending was depressing for me.

bijou3owl Vampire Princess Claudia I absolutely adore those books! I wish I had a Daemon I want a Daemon too! I heart X infinity those books! http://www.daemons.envy.nu <-- explores theories about daemons in the real world; it contains some interesting concepts about finding your daemon and such. Apparently daemons do not have physical forms in this world, so you have to use projection and just imagine them - and talking to your daemon is just like talking to your conscience. Multiple Personality Disorder is debatable. As for the books, I thoroughly enjoyed them. Philip Pullman is a great writer, and the idea of parallel universes is intriguing. I actually have a book, "The Science Behind The His Dark Materials Trilogy" (or something to that affect, I can't remember the exact title), which explains about Dust and multiple worlds and all sorts of things like that. It's a good read if you're interested in quantum physics, or if you're just curious about the ideas in the trilogy.

I've heard about these. I want to read them. I also heard there making a movie with Nicole Kidman as Mrs. Coulter.

I've finished the first book and just loved it, I'm about to start the 2nd book soon. I'm glad there is a little His Dark Materials fan club here.

Having a Daemon would be fun... I adore these books an that is because of their highly philisophical point of view... I enjoy the multiverse theory and I use a similar but different one in my book. It isn't published yet but it will be as soon as I get it finished.

I read them a long while back and now I'll have to reread them. I do remember liking them a lot. This is the first I've heard about "Lyra's Oxford" so I'll have to check that out. Is it a sequel to the series?
