Hell, I should probably do the same... It was me who brought up the situation and pushed it along to what happened. Granted, I had reason for it. I saw how was treating members, and I've seen it before on forum boards and here in guilds, and it leads to newer people not wanting to stick around. It's a board killer. I brought it up, and even though Wielder took it to this, I could've said to go by PM directly to him. But, I didn't and this is what happened.

I've been lurking about and, well, I have some honest concerns with the guy. During that big to-do with Karma, when that thread was opened for opinions? He cracked down on a newer member [Ratchet] for contributing and claimed "your opinion is moot". So basically, new members aren't allowed to give opinions in an opinion thread? That seems like a concern to me.

Ratings have almost completely gone down in RP rating since he started re-evaluating - except of course for older members like Gear.

There seems to be a clear bias there and it worries me. I could be imagining it, and maybe I am, and I'd love a clear answer, but I'm not sure that's the sort of thing you'll get a straight answer to. It's easy to be biased towards old friends, especially after something like the SS1 debacle, and I don't necessarily blame him for it if it is the case - I just don't feel it's in the best interest of others in the guild.

This is wrong in my case. I stayed in the same rank I was at before. It just means that Darius' scale of grading is harder than the older ones. Which as a result could make members strive to do better.

DARIUS NOOOO!!! I'll be good I promise!!!

lolol xD All kidding aside Darius has never bothered me in the least. And he hugged me! He may be a little harsh, but thats just a style. No one prosecutes me for changing randomly between epically posh and random, do they?

Sigh... I guess I'll miss Darius. I empathized with him at times. Mostly because I'm quite a bit like him at times... Remember the dude who wanted to start an assassins department or summat inside of the guild? I cracked down on him even harder than Darius cracked on Ratchet... Yeah, I feel for Darius's cause, even if he did quit the guild.

This

again.

I think that a more strict ranking scale was necessary. And members who have been here longer usually have a higher literacy level. It wasn't something like, YOU get an A and you get a B. It's more like "You're in the advanced classes", and "You're normal". I hardly tried on one of Gear's ranking ones, and I got ranked Alpha. I should NOT have been ranked Alpha for that post. I knew that when I posted it, but was too lazy to try harder. I think the ranking system Darius put in place was far more strict and accurate than Gears, as well it should be since we are a guild that partially prided itself (in the past, at least) at teaching members how to become better Roleplayers.

And yeah, he was a little harsh with Ratchet, but he did tone it down when it was pointed out. He's not out to piss people off. He's just being himself, just like all of us here.

I have mixed feelings about this.

On a personal note, I feel Darius is pretty cool because I can identify myself with some of the things he says or does. He's dedicated and obviously cares about the guild since he's willing to leave in order to avoid drama, if you wanna look at it that way.

On the other hand, I have to admit some of his comments would get out of hand and might be a bit harsh. Yeah, sometimes what he'd say would make me laugh despite the way he'd say it. Ex. The RP rank thread where he's explaining to Ratchet how the ranking system works and Ratchet replies with something like "Too many words. I only caught the last sentence"? Darius' reply was pretty much something like "If you don't really want an answer, don't ask questions". Sorry Ratchet but he was right on that one. Would I phrase it differently? Yes, because I know the internet is full of drama and anyone can misunderstand what I say. I can say "Poop with beans" and people will get offended somehow. Perhaps my answer in real life would have been the same as Darius', but it's just not worth it here.

It's not that I'm a hypocrite or anything. But all in all, Darius was a respected member of the guild. But respect is gained through respecting others, no matter if they're newbies or oldbies. Darius pretty much went around whatever was on his mind and didn't care if someone was offended by it. In a way, he doesn't have to care because that's just who he is. Take it or leave it. On the other hand, there is a time and place for everything. If all of us acted like complete jerks (Not that Darius was one), this place would be chaotic. So this is why I'm confused as it is.

So to this, I will merely shrug my shoulders and let it be. If his life is as horrible as he says he is, the internet is no place for one to find happiness. Believe me, I've tried. You tried. We've all tried. So if this is his decision, then fine by me.
