Have to agree on Masquerade.
Also golden sparkles, secret sparkles, etc. Random background sparkles can add just that little touch of pizazz!
I also have a thing for masks/glasses to add an extra bit of color 3nodding

I'd have to say any head item, I use them in nearly everything and they often make or break my avatar, that and my reversible hairclips. Those clips are avatar crack for me.

It used to be underwear for me, but now it's pretty much those reversible clips, rivet heels and masquerade.
+wench corsets, simple skirts, all of the high heels

I think the Audrey heels, goldshop wigs and silver laurels- it layers over almost all other head things whee

Gift of the Goddess - the winged shoes pose can be used to layer with most shoes. It adds an nice little detail at the feet.

Any Fabulous pumps - Offered in a variety of colors and quite cute shoes. Athough opinions will vary on this one.
Any Milady skirts- It can be layer with some skirts and dresses. It is offered in a few colors and quite nice to own.
Any reversible bracelets-adds more details on the arms.

I definitely agree with almost everything already said but I would also say the wench bustiers and the black/white wool top... oh! and black goth boots XD But that is because I don't like heels...

I'd say Gold shop items of every kind. I regard those just the same as basics when buying clothes. I probably always have one gold shop item equipped, because they often layer quite wonderful~
