Tony watched her, smiling in pity because he saw how young, or thought he did at least, she really was. He could assume the jacket was not hers, as it didn't quite fit right, and imagined it was her brothers. He patted her back, rubbing his hand in soothing circles.
Tony frowned. He wasn't sure if he had heard about her brother or not. Everything was so jumbled in his head, he couldn't be sure of anything. He nodded though, to save her the trouble of having to talk about him.
"It's okay, Elke, I understand," he said.
He felt bad for all the kids that seemed to be out there, fighting these battles. He had met a few in that dream world, hadn't he? It couldn't have been completely fake, but he had no idea. In any case, there had been senshi with him, girls dressed similarly to Virgo. They had introduced themselves as senshi, as well. How many were there?

"He was the best brother in the world," she said, her voice turning dreamy, a little. It wasn't because she actually dreamed of her brother; it would be rude to fall asleep on Tony, even if they did on occasion claim to be uncle and niece. Not just because that relationship was little more than a lie, but because Pop waited outside for her, and she should probably leave soon. She had turned inward, a little, to memories. She inhaled, her breath shaking like a leaf in the wind, and set her head on Tony's shoulder for a moment, wiped her eyes with her fingertips.
Then she stood up, straightened Grayson's jacket. "Thank you, Tony," she said, smiling a little. "I... I am sure I have an overdue library book... I will see you there, okay?" The cell phone in her pocket jingled, the tune jarring because of its obvious joy. "It is my Pop," she explained-- and she whirled in place, light hair flying everywhere as she retreated. "I will see you, Tony! Goodbye!"

Tony nodded as she spoke, letting her calm down against him however she wanted. Never having had a sibling, he didn't know what it could possibly be like to lose one, and he certainly had no right to make comments on how she was grieving. Not that he would. He didn't think it was a bad thing, avoiding that dangerous world for now, while she had to get her mind together.
He let her lean against him, shaking his head slowly. He leaned toward her, innately wanting to comfort her, though he knew it was beyond his ability to do so.
Then she was up and he blinked at her, struggling to stand. He nodded, feeling a bit left behind as she suddenly hurried to the door. Her assurance that she would be by the library, at least, was a comfort. Since they usually met when she was Virgo, protecting his walk home, it was a worry to wonder when he might be able to check in with her, keep an eye on her and make sure she was safe and recovering. He would fret about her constantly, he was sure.
"Hopefully not overdue," he managed to say, grinning as he limped over to the door and at least held it open for her. "Stay well, Elke."
He let her leave after that, feeling saddened and extremely relieved at once. When he closed the door he walked back to the sofa. He found he didn't want to drink any more. A step in the right direction, at least.
