Huang watched as her delicate features turned up into a scowl and stopped trying to push her in. Why won't she go in? Huang thought to himself, surely at this time she wasn't thinking of leaving him now.

As she said No twice, Huang frowned and shook his head before coming to stand in front of her, while he himself wanted to go in, he was not going to force Shin-Mu, although he started to emit a aura of disappointment, he waited for Shin to explain to him why it was so dire not to go into a perfectly good establishment.

"You can't?" Huang looked over at her as she gripped her body tight and her gaze drew away from, what was that she wasn't telling him? It bothered him that she had no clear explanation as to why she wouldn't go in, but continually said no. It was even more frustrating because she looked so weak and timid about saying no. "What aren't you telling me Shin?" He looked to her.

Though when she spoke next, his heart lightened. "So you have met Zhong! Then we should visit him together!" Huang smiled at her, not listening to the other half of her statement before looking to the ground confused, why look at a broken pot?

"Ah, yes I do." Huang looked around and noticed that the remains of a ceramic piece littered the street, "I didn't notice, you must be careful then walking." He looked over to her and noticed she studied it quite intensely.

A small whine of frustration and despair rode the air between them before she could bite it off.

"No we should not go visit him, Huang." She rose a face up to him with the first hints of tears welling in the corners of pale eyes to trail slowly down dark cheeks. "I would not willingly place myself in his company again." She released her own arms so she could lay her palms against his chest, stepping into him to seek comfort.

"Those ceramic shards are what remains of the teapot that shattered against my shoulder." She gazed up at him, imploring him to put two and two together and make the logical leap. She was being vague, but to speak so plainly about such a painful memory was not easy.

She'd wanted to forget about the battle, the lose, everything to do with Zhong and his blind hatred towards her, and here they stood at his doorstep. Placed there by an ironic accident. She hadn't steered them here, nor did she think Huang had, they'd simply let their feet wander as they talked.

"Zhong is the one that's placed these ugly marks upon me. It was by his had that I was knocked unconscious and left in the street like some unwanted dog."

Huang's eyebrow arched at the whine that emitted from Shin and her eye's filled with tears. he didn't understand, did he do something wrong? Why was it always that with her he always felt like he did nothing but cause her pain. It was degrading on him, and he was tired of feeling like he was nothing more then the bad guy, even an enemy.

As she moved into him, his arms came involuntarily to comfort her, though his embrace was light as he tried to sort what she was telling him. If she knew Zhong, then why did she not want his company? As she explained the ceramic pieces on the floor, Huang's eyes widen in surprised, such violence from his friend was not what he expected and suspicion built in his heart.

He looked from her face to her shoulder as his confusion and suspicion built together. Why had Zhong done what had he done? To be so violent, even with a woman, especially like Shin was intolerable to Huang. Then again, Zhong had seemed friendly if not a bit spiritual. A interesting soul he had been indeed. Huang shook his head and pushed Shin back before pacing to think his thoughts. His eyes narrowed in concentration.

"Are you sure..."
Huang looked to the ceramic pieces and let the question fall, of course she was, she had been attacked here. "Why would he attack you Shin?" Huang looked to her before his eyes went completely blank. His thoughts dawned his worst sort of fears as he pieced together their encounters coupled with hers and Zhongs.

"Your a Noble..." Huang almost snarled it but it came out in a soft whisper. Toneless and emotionless, a way to keep his thoughts indifferent, the only reason for Zhong to attack was a provoking noble attack of their own, as he mind pieced together about her. How could he not see one of the enemies so clear in his sight? It made him ashamed to have believed she was a friend to him, when all she was after was his Legionnaire secrets. His mind reeled out of control as he stood completely stoic in the street, his face blank as he waited for her confirmation, and then that would be the end.

The press of his arms felt warm and safe, and she would have given much to have simply stayed there, to let the world sink away and leave only Huang and herself. But that was not how things worked, and 'happily ever afters' did not come to all couples that went searching for it. She protested when he stepped away, a soft sound that faded off at his questions. Questions she now felt should remain unanswered. She had no basis for the concerns, merely a growing sense of dread working within the pit of her stomach.

It made her reluctant speak, at least until that toneless whisper left his lips. Her greatest worry confirmed in indifference now in those lovely, magenta eyes. He was Legion, and by the set of his shoulders, the coldness in his face as he watched her, she knew he'd never forgive her sin of allegiance. It made her chest tight, her stomach ache, and the tears that had begun to dry spilled anew down her cheeks.

Her voice was a whisper when it came. A sorrowful breath that held all the pain of her previous realization. All her hopes, her affection would mean nothing, be nothing. "..yes."

She stared at him, tears painting lines down her face. She would not huddle in the street and weep, despite her fractured heart. Shoulders straightened, and she stood a little taller, hands laying still along her sides. "You asked why, why was I attacked." Her voice was even now. "I did him a kindness, Huang. I did my friend a kindness, and the moment he learned I did not follow the king he turned on me." Her voice broke then, but she continued. "Will you turn on me now, too? My sweet warrior?"

She hoped she was wrong. Hoped beyond reason that he was not so blindly driven by his alliance that he would throw away a friendship, even something more. It was a fools hope, she knew it, but she clung to that hope with everything she had.

That was it. The end of their budding kinship. The minute her heart spoke of her alliance, Huang's did the same and he lashed out in anger.

"Did him Kindness then?"
Huang words came out in a snarled tone, his face contorted into disgust at himself and more at her, "Did you do him kindness like you have to all the others Legion men you seem to meet? Do you use your women charms, your noble wits to lure us away from our paths so that we will reveal our secrets?" Huang heart hurt so much, His mind spoke of such hate, but it was corroding underneath all his anger. He had trusted her, had even come to like her, maybe even love her. She was the first to come close to breaking him of his shell and now...now it was just to much. Noble.

A Noble.
A Noble had kissed him, smiled at him, held him, caused him to feel this way.

"I will leave, and that will be the end. This of ours will end." Huang stared at with her with all the hate in his eyes. "I will not trust you nobles after what happened to my friend, I will not trust a woman who aligns herself with the rebels of our land." Huang's words were harsh, and he didn't know what he spoke of now. All he could see was Yuan, of their bittersweet memories. And his mind went to Jianyu, and their he remembered their talk together, he remembered their training. wasn't he to put the past behind him? Noble or no, Shin had done nothing to hurt him, she simple was herself.

And that was why he needed to break this chain that bonded them together. Feelings be damned, he was not ready for a Noble to enter his heart, and as he stared at her tears, he cringed. Woman's weapons, regardless of how true her feelings be, Huang couldn't let the Noble alliance past him.

"I am leaving."
Huang whispered as he started to take a step back, before turning his back on her. He would not harm her, he would not kill her, he would leave and try to understand why he couldn't bring himself to kill someone who was a enemy. "If we meet again Shin, I will not give you the lenience i have tonight. The next time we meet, it will be as enemies." He whispered again.

Even knowing in her heart that all strings of affection were severed, their bond broken, she still startled at that snarled tone, the open disgust on turning those handsome features ugly in their outrage. His accusations were harsh, even cruel, and they lacked even a shadow of accuracy. It was like a blow to her chest, and she even staggered with it, stepping back.

"There have been no others, Legion or Noble, that have ever been held so close to my heart." Her voice was thick with sorrow. "I did not know until this moment what alliance you held, and I did not care." Her voice rose at the end, turning a woeful plea into more an accusation. She had not cared that he followed the emperor, it was why she had never asked. Her alliance was with the Noble Retainer, but she had always been neutral in her dealings with those loyal to the ruling body of their world. A neutrality that had been rocked by Zhongxain's attack, and would now surely shatter under Huang's hateful glare.

She was rebel, this was true, and she had no response for him on that point. Nothing to contest what he had said. Personally, she had done no one harm based on allegiance alone, but he wasn't willing to hear her truths. Her mind reeled, remembering every smile, every gentle touch and roll of laughter. Everything he had meant to her, everything he would ow never be, and her heart ached with it. A pain so sharp she thought she would die. Lose, it was lose, and she had ever felt anything so torturous in her life.

She'd never allowed herself to get close to anyone before, never let herself be so damn vulnerable, and with Huang she had let her walls down, and he was now tearing through her ribs to crush her heart.

"This is lenience?" Her voice was thick with irony and scorn. "You dare to call this lenience?" Lose, sorrow, anger, outrage, betrayal. Everything was building, bubbling up and the mounting hysteria of it tainted her gentle voice, made it harsh and mocking. How dare he. How dare he write his name across her heart then turn his back on her. "Heartless coward!"
