- I'm jayon. That name is from a galaxy that I created when I was young. It was of a god that created it and the name of one of the planets. I haven't lost the name yet.
- let's see the biggest influence is the mind and outside factors in my life. I have a feeling you already knew that though...

I suppose that since this place is about phillosiphy that it matters not who we are. But, since everyone has already placed their erm.... stuff... down that I might as well set mine as well.
Let's start it off simple. Although my Avitar is a guy, I am a female in reality. No I am not Bi or a lesbian, I just felt like having a male avatar that day. My name is Hayley, but I would prefer you to call me either Keito or IP ( gaian names... so I wont get confused), and I live in Reno Nevada... small world eh?
I have no religion, but I am not an anarchist. I value other's opinnions on religion and I add a few of my own if they wish to hear. Though I prefer to keep out of the subjects of religion and politics as much as I enjoy talking about them.
I have been influenced mostly by the experiences my friends and I have had over our lives, though thats not really saying much, for I'm the one ending up with all their troubles to balance and weigh. Being seventeen and having to deal with millions of problems, not to mention all the school work, isn't easy and well... yah. Books and history is another one of my past times, along with drawing; I place much of my emotions into them, so untill I get my scanner up and/or get a new scanner, I'll have to stick with the digital cameras ( that suck!!!! ><;; sorry sorry!! )

My name's Cocopie, but I'd prefer everyone calling me Deniz, that's my real name. I live in the Netherlands (hence the tiny vocabulary; my apologies for that.) but both my parents are Turkish. My family is entirely Muslim, but I'm an Atheist myself, although still interested in religious topics. Being fourteen I'm actually quite new to this, but then again, I'm also here to learn. You probably won't find me posting on the threads alot because I'm a major lurker... *cough* yeah... that was it ._.U *scutters off*

Hi. My name is Zbyszek ( don't bother about the correct pronounciation ). I am a liberal non-believer with a deeply routed suspicion to power structures and any, that have a need to control others. For me, the most interesting part of philosophy is axiology, esp. ethics. When it comes to onthological issues, like the nature of entities or the existence of God, I am more interested in the implications of any of such views ( as most of them are not seriously provable ) than in those views themselves.

Ello, I'm Aud (short for Audrey). I live in a cold Mitten shaped state in the United States (Michigan). I am a born democrat but evolved into a definate liberal. I don't believe that I have a religion but I have a mixture of some of the religions I've studied, Wiccan, Buddism, and Christianity. I became interested in Philosophy by means of studying religions and talking to people of other ethnicities. I am the type of person who questions everything and anything. Not only that, I will pretty have an opinion on whatever people could be possibly talking about. That is partially why I want to become a journalist.

I'm Matt, though I go by Newski in the real world and online. I started getting into philosophy a few years back, I had heard that my friend who killed herself was going to hell. Fearing for her soul, i studied religion. Philosophy came with it, because the two are tied together.
I often joke that I am Rene Descartes's pagan student, because I idolize the man. I accept his idea of the mind and the self (though the self was better explained by other philosophers whom I say were merely explaining Descartes further. Was it Locke who said that memories make up the self? It relates back to Descartes). Of course, the mind isn't located as he said in the penial gland but it clearly exists.
I am a metaphysicist, meaning I believe in the metaphysical aspects of reality (which comes from a history of unexplainable encounters I cannot rationalize).
My faith is based on an interpretation of a Divine, which exists as a metaphysical force. I guess thats the ultimate reality in my religion, a divine that can recognize aspects of being. It is impersonal, but you can call upon the force for guidance in the form of some celestial being.

I am Scorpo. I am influenced by the things I allow to influence me, and not much else. I prefer metaphysical argument, where it can be said that nothing is right or wrong, outside of the perception of those who participate within the argument and UNDERSTAND the argument.

Hey, I'm Phaedrus.
While I have many different philosophical influences, I'm mainly an athiest existentialist. I'm also interested in Robert Pirsig's Metaphysics of Quality. While I'm better at metaphysical arguments, I won't pass up other questions just because. I suppose that's it.

My name is Alexander. (Which I've morphed to create my alias.) I've always valued the mind - I think the mind has far more potential than most realize - so I strive my best to use it. 3nodding I've only recently decided to study philosophy formally, and I checked out a book called "Philosophy for Dummies." (The book surprised me! The author seems to have a very extensive background in the subject, and he goes into a lot of detail.) So far I'm enjoying the subject very much. ^_^
I was raised by a Catholic, but I myself am not religious. I am open to the possibility that an ultimate deity exists, but at this point I find it a bit illogical. (I believe the universe follows it's own laws.)
I tend not to associate myself with specific groups (such as religious groups, political groups, social groups, etc.) because I believe that I am my own person - and I feel that if I associate myself with a specific group, my knowledge will ultimately become limited by that choice.
I try my best to be open minded about anything and everything, in hopes that I may discover the objective truth for myself.
I could go on for a long time - but now seems like a good stopping point. <_<
-Alezunde

Starlock here, amature philosopher for quite a few years now. While I haven't studied philosophy academically, I do read some philosophy periodicals every so often. My favorite article was entitled "Why not to Trust Other Philosophers" and it pretty well encapsulated why I have yet to study other philosophers (chuckles). The whole fun of philosophy is thinking and discovering things for yourself. If you just take someone else's gosepl, you're being indoctrinated and not really learning as much as you would otherwise, eh?
My typical angle ranges from subjectivism to practicalism to mysticism... I can argue pretty much any angle, and like to take the position least represented in a particular thread to get people thinking more and bring new angles into a discussion. There are probably some positions I can't argue for due to lack of knowledge, but generally I can comment and stick up for either side of a debate. whee
I look forward to seeing what this Guild has to offer. biggrin

I'm Kat in real life, although Deathgiver is my online name.
I'm democratic officially, but tend to lean a little more liberal when it comes to specific things, such as the No Child Left Behind plan that Kerry was planning to tweak but not quite enough.
I'm basically pro-everything, including pro-choice, pro-gays (although I'm not one myself), and pro-tolerance.
I'm a strong Roman Catholic and read my Bible most nights. I do what I think is right, and find out the hard way if I've made a mistake. I'm totally open for religious discussions (in fact I love them), so feel free to PM me anytime. I believe in all the normal Catholic things, but morals from other religions have crept into my psyche as well, including a bit of Jesus Christ Church of Latter Day Saints (LDS) (say what you want about the religion, but the people that come out of it are very good), Judaism (my father's Jewish), and Paganism.
I am most influenced by my wonderful mother, far-away father, friends Oliver and Sean, and God.

Correct me if I'm wrong, But I'm fairly sure that the Catholic church officially condemns both abortion and homosexuality. If God doesn't care about Homosexuals, what happened to Sodom and Gomorrah?
Tolerance, that's the thing. You have to have tolerance. But you also have to believe that some things are not right, and if you do not stand up for what you believe, you are being a hypocrite.(P.S. I'm not even going to comment on the Mormon Faith. But I'll hope you'll agree with my annoyance at Benny Hinn and other Televangelists.)

Alezunde I've always valued the mind - I think the mind has far more potential than most realize - so I strive my best to use it. ...You are a wonderful person, I can tell. 3nodding Deathgiver I'm Kat in real life, although Deathgiver is my online name. But... sadly... I didn't know that your were Roman Catholic. sweatdrop Sad that being online helps your find out more about your friends. (It's me, Jessie, by the way. From Gorman's class) And I think most Democrats are liberal... liberalism is a belief rather than a party. Democracy tends to have pretty liberal views, though.
