Aphrodite Philopannyx The first 5 minutes of Up was more romantic and tragic then Titanic. Titanic is IMO, besides the costumes and stage design, another over rated movie. It's pretty to look at... like all James Cameron movies. The only movie I like that he directed was Aliens. But still Twilight doesn't even come close to Titanic either. So basically the look sold the movie, not the story? (I haven't seen Titanic) Ω

The only way to actually know is to watch it yourself, because different people have a different opinion on it.

I don't like Titanic because if you know anything about the "unsinkable" Titanic you would know that classes were strictly .... STRICTLY separated. So the whole romance itself could never possibly happen and that really bothered me so for this reason I can never get into the movie... Also Leonardo DiCaprio doesn't do much for me either. I simply cannot appreciate a movie with such a flawed writing hole.
Plus you know he's going to die at the end so... I don't understand why it's such a sob story when the ending is so expected. But don't get me wrong I am a romance fan my favorite movie is Gone With the Wind.

The Quartier de la Madeleine segment of Paris, je t'aime does vampire/human romance an infinite number of times better than Twilight could ever hope to. It was all of 5 minutes if even that long and had no spoken dialogue either.
Twilight needs to be rewritten as a black comedy involving some paranoid and delusional girl who thinks the entire universe is out to get her.

I mean, I knew the ship was going to sink, because in the beginning you see the ship under the sea. I was actually hoping that Jack lived and he just died before Rose. ...but I was only eight when I watched it, so I guess I was just overlly optimistic.

I loved Titanic! That movie is why I have become so obsessed with it. It's true about the classes, but that's not really enough to hate it so much. It made me cry because the music was so beautiful and stuff. I even have my own replica of the Heart of the Ocean. As for Up, that movie was so tear-jerking for me. I don't know what it was about it that made me cry so hard. I liked the movied though. I didn't care for the 3D.
But the thing is, people misrepresent romance just as much as comedy. I don't want to sound lecturing, and you guys can just tell me that you already knew this, but a comedy is just where a story starts bad or good, gets worse, and then has a happy ending, while romance is just really strong emotions are involved or something like that. That's why Dracula is a romance/horror. Or something. That's what my really, really, smarter than me best friend told me at least.

The only reason why I point that out is so people know that you can have a romance without people falling in love and junk. Like Dracula. An actual vampire. And stuff. mrgreen xp

I have to say, I've never seen Titanic, nor do I plan to, so I don't think I can really take sides on the whole "Titanic is super awesome!" "No it's not!" thing (Not that that's going on here yet, but it might start soon, and I don't plan on sticking around for it). But I can probably say, without fear of pointed fingers, that it was likely more romantic than Twilight.
Still, in the case of romantic, I'd suggest the original Sabrina. Or the Princess Bride. Or Edward Scissorhands. SO WHO KNOWS WHAT THAT SAYS ABOUT ME.

I saw Titanic when I was around six, seven or eight. My babysitter let us watch it all the time, but she would cover up censored parts so I'm not scarred for life (eye twitches). There were a lot of parts that bore me, I mostly just like the part where it sinks. And the music. My heart will go on is one of my favorite songs of all time.

Why is it that these two overrated sap-craps always make it to the top of every "Best love story" list? Seriously if you put aside my hatred of Twilight I think there are still many other films that deserve a spot at the top.
Where the hell is Casablanca? That one has to be one of the most iconic romance films of all time and I NEVER see it listed whenever someone makes those stupid "best romantic films" lists. None of the good ones are ever on them; When Harry Met Sally, Sleepless In Seattle, Ghost, Amelie, The English Patient, hell even Dirty Dancing!
Do these people snub their noses up at any film that doesn't make millions in the box office or something?

Well, out of all you listed there I have to say that Ghost and Sleepless in Seattle are the best. I haven't seen the others, so I can't judge. I actually rather enjoy Titanic, but it might be because of memories that I associate with it. I was nine years old when I first saw it.
