Obadias smiled back, and laughed, quietly. “Parvana - that's her name- understands the ways of our pride and knows she will hold a special place in my heart, as will any female I lay claim to.” He wondered how their pride appeared, looking in from an outsiders perspective. Was it strange to think that multiple females could hold a place in Obadias' heart?
He tilted his head to the side, and said, only half as a joke, “you would be a real prize for any male in our pride, I'm sure, if you ever get tired of your rogue ways.” She was smart, and independent, but not out rightly defiant. She would fit well, he realised, a little regretful not that he'd mentioned it. He had been so eager to find her, and now he would have to leave her and find another female even though he'd completed his goal to find her.
“I wouldn't say that,” Obadias protested lightly. “I count you as a childhood friend.” He blinked, embarrassed by what that might imply. Though his previous comment already hinted that he would be more than willing to take her back to his pride, if that was what she wished, but the cub's meow shocked him into silence. He glanced up, spotting the cub only barely in the falling darkness.
Oh...OH. He looked confused, then glanced at Mihika. “Mihika? Is...” How did he ask this, he wondered? “Have you a mate you haven't told me about?” Slightly subtler than asking if she was a mother, he thought, but not by much. He was a little stunned. Mihika couldn't be a mother, could she? She was only a little older than he was!

The leopardess smiled faintly, "You must have a big heart then, Obadias." Parvana must be lucky to have been raised in such a pride, but what about the rogues that the males brought in? Her gaze saddened. To lose the freedom of the roguelands for a male that you have to share. Was it worth it to them?
She laughed, "And I'll remind you that I said only someone like you would ever be able to drag me to your pride." What she said rang even louder in her ears as he brought up that other fact. "Re-really? Well this is...."
The mew made her look back to the cub that had snuggled against his mother, "Amani." The leopardess sighed before looking up at Obadias sheepishly. "A mate? Umm...not really. I'm still single. Just with cubs? Picking the cub up carefully in her mouth, Mihika moved towards the den so she could place him with his three siblings. After a faint protest the young cub finally curled up against his siblings and started to sleep again.

Obadias inclined his head, agreeing to her words, though he was not sure if he believed it truly. Did he have a big heart? Or was he simply hopeful that he would learn to love whoever came his way? He did not wish for anyone in his harem to feel unwanted, unloved, ever.
He was surprised at where the conversation was turning though, when she reminded him of their conversation when they were barely cubs. "I wouldn't ever drag you back - against your will," he mentioned firmly. Well, unless he thought it would be better for her. He was willing to sacrifice a little of her affections towards him if it meant keeping her safe.
That comment was tested when he spied the tiny cub pressed against her. Amani. It had a name? His eyes were wide and he stared in disbelief. No mate. Just cubs. Which meant...she was alone? With cubs? That was a horrifying thought!
"But it is so dangerous out here!" he said, his worry showing clear in his voice. "Have you no one to look after you and the cubs?" The cub really was adorable, he had to admit, as Mihika moved it back into the den. How many cubs were there? How could she do all this alone? He blanched.

Mihika blinked at him before nodding her head, "Ah. I know." She never doubted his word and the trust that she had for this lion still amazed her. Especially since everything about him was based on one quick meeting while they were both cubs. Still he had done nothing so far to make her doubt her feelings.
"Hey!" Mihika's fur bristled even though she knew that it was his worry speaking, the leopardess had some pride. "I've -I've been taking care of myself just fine out here." She argued, "Is it that hard to believe that I can take care of my cubs as well?" She sniffed. Just because she was a female and not a lion didn't mean that she couldn't handle things...right?

Obadias flinched at her obvious anger at his words. He hadn't meant to upset her with them, he was simply worried about and her the cubs. "I didn't mean that you couldn't," he hurried to try to explain. "Simply that you shouldn't have to. I have no doubt that you are a caring and careful mother, but it must be hard on you to have to do so much by yourself, taking care of them and yourself."
He stepped forward, ears lowered in an apologetic gesture but his eyes were form. "Taking care of cubs by yourself is hard, even in prides, but in the rogue lands I simply worry that you or your cubs might be hurt, by no fault of yours but simple circumstances." He hoped she was not offended by his words, he just wanted her and - though they were certainly a surprise! - her cubs to be safe.

Her anger softened and the leopardess gave a weak chuckle, "Sorry. Guess I get defensive about that." Mihika sighed and listened to him with a faint frown. So did he really not think that she could take care of others? Her own cubs? Just because it was the rogue lands didn't mean that everything had to be bad out here. If only Obadias could see that. She shook her head, no his home was that pride so it wouldn't even matter what he thought of the roguelands...
"What do you suppose I do then, Obadias?" She asked softly raising her gaze to look at him.

Obadias peered at her, knowing she had not totally forgiven his words but knowing she was trying to put them aside. He hesitated at her question, knowing what he wanted to say but feared her reaction to it. "I would never tell you what to do, it should be your choice, no matter what happens," he told her firmly, but hesitated, shifting but raising his eyes to meet hers without fear.
"But, the option of...returning to my pride...with me, is always open to you." He hoped she would not see it as him thinking she could not take care of herself, or her cubs. "Your cubs would, of course, come to, if you came." He wanted to look away, but refused to show weakness. He wanted her to know that he would take care of her, and her babies, if she wanted him to. He just didn't know if she wanted him to.

Mihika's gaze flickered uneasily. What was he trying to say? Was anything really her choice? So far everything in her life was not something that she had planned. Loss of her family, living alone for so long, finding friends only to lose them, and now...cubs. Four little ones to take care of. Without a mate to help her.
The leopardess blinked in confusion. Going to a pride? "What? She took an uncertain step back, "Obadias...I know that we talked about your pride an'...." Her gaze was frightened, "Are ya serious?" The thought of being surrounded by others - lions especially- made her look suddenly like that frightened cub again. But her attention went back to that den again where she heard the faint meows of her waking cubs. Would their future be brighter if she....if she did?
Suddenly she shook her head, "I can't Obadias." She turned away, "I don't want ya to pity me and take me in just because I'm alone with cubs." A pained grin flashed across her features, "I would not want to burden you like that not if you were only doin' it for duty sake." She cared too much about him to put this on him. Especially if he did it out of pity - just the thought of him taking her and her cubs in as some sort of duty made her frown.

Obadias frowned at her frightened response, but wiped that expression from his face, replacing it with a soft, caring expression that would, hopefully, remind her that he was not like the lions she had met and that he would not harm her, or hurt her in any way.
"I'm not doing this out of pity," he told her firmly, looking at her with those red eyes of his. "I'm doing this because...when I came out here, to the rogue lands, I was...looking for you." He gave her an odd half-smile. "I wanted to find you, and see if...you were serious when we were younger. I thought, perhaps, you had wanted me to find you, like I had wanted to find you too."
He looked towards where the cubs were sleeping, and smiled slightly. "If you don't, then I won't push you to come with me, but you should know, that the pride is always open to you." He didn't want to push her into something she didn't want to do, but he wanted her to know, that she had been the one he had been seeking.

"Not out of pity?" Mihika whispered before shaking her head. Surely he was just saying that. But it was Obadias. She trusted him. His next words made the leopardess jump, "You were looking....for me? Re-really?"
Suddenly Mihika looked shy, "Well- I had hoped.to find you again." She paused thoughtfully before laughing. "But-But! I never thought that you had taken me seriously!"
Quickly she sobered up, "I mean I was serious, but I didn't think you would actually come to find me. I hoped - but..." She stopped and looked up at him. Her expression spoke the rest, "You would never have to push me to do anything, Obadias. I'll go with you."

Obadias listened to her speak, his heart in his throat. His eyes were watching her ernestly, his face falling as she laughed, as if this had been just a joke. Of course he had taken her seriously and he had wanted to think - or hope - that she had been serious too.
He hope was returned when she spoke again, correcting herself that she had been serious. He shifted closer to her, his eyes lighting up as she continued to speak. "You will?" He asked, almost breathlessly, as a smile struck across his face. He crossed the last distance between them, and nuzzled her cheek. "You won't regret this, Mihika! I promise you won't," he told her lovingly, as he pressed his cheek to hers.
He would take care of her, and her cubs, as if they were his own and he would protect them as best he could. He knew Parvana would help too, it was just the type of person that she was. It would be perfect, and he knew that he could make Mihika happy, and now he was given the chance to do exactly that.
