It was a dark night on the island. However, no night was truly dark. The fires of the War City still burned in the center of the isle. Burning for hundreds of years, nobody can approach the city lest they be killed by either the dangerous fires that sweep through the land or the bandits who roam and kill at will.

Deep in the heart of Firalgia, one watched the remnants of the War City burn. An ironclad fist struck the railing of the balcony that the shadow-clad figure watched from. As a bandit dressed as a servant showed up, the figure at the balcony spoke softly.

"Burning in the pits of Hell,
the War Machines forever dwell,
waiting for the saving bell,
how long it's been, no one can tell..."

The servant looked at the figure nervously before coughing to announce his presence. The figure's head turned slightly.

"What is it, Gamil..."

"Sir, the raiding party you requested is prepared to strike out and destroy the Cult of the Fallen Rebel. They're just waiting for the order."

The figure looked back out at the flames in the distance, his voice soft.

"Send them tonight. I want them to arrive by midnight tomorrow. Tell them that Belagia is to be slaughtered and then burned to the ground. I want the village erased from existence."

The servant stiffened and saluted.

"At once, Dread Lord."

The figure gripped the railing of the balcony tightly with his iron hand, watching his fist indent the wood. He then turned and walked back into the dark room. Belagia was just the first step. Soon enough, the entire island would be his.

*~*~*Raizan Rydell*~*~*
...until the journey ends.

It was a very stormy night in the town of Belagia. The wind whistled through the trees as rain poured onto the dark streets of the small town. Everyone was home and in their beds. Save him. He stood underneath an overhang by a small shop, watching the rain fall. His cloak was closed and the hood was pulled up over his head to protect him from the rain. He sighed as thunder rocked in the distance. The rain was dangerous nowadays; with all the pollutants in the air still from the damage done years ago, the rain was acidic to the touch. He would have to wait for the rain to stop before he'd be able to make his way home.

He knew that his cult was slowly gaining momentum. People in Belagia were talking about his group and their goals. He hoped to make it to the other cities soon. He definitely wanted to plan out how he was going to spread their influence. After all, if everyone knew what was in the book, he'd be able to get a lot of support for a searching party. He just hoped that he'd be able to get the support.

He slid out of his reverie, looking up. The rain had stopped. He slowly walked down the street, making his way to his home. He got there quickly, going inside and removing his cloak. He then went to the back of the small home, opening a trapdoor in the floor. He slid down the ladder and into the headquarters of the Cult of the Fallen Rebel. There were various chairs set up in straight rows, facing a lectern. Behind the lectern, hanging on the wall, was a sword. He walked over and looked at the sword, sliding his hand along it familiarly. He knew that the other members would be late to the meeting due to the rain. He didn't mind.

♡ Miriella "Mir" Ashrah ♡

Before the rain descended upon the small village of Belagia, Miriella had been by the seaside. Hunger that subsided in her stomach after she managed to gather up a small amount of food. Despite her rouch looks, she managed to obtain random tasks around the village for which the reward would be basic necessities, mainly food. Grateful to the fishermen and the women of the village for their kindness, she had arrived here at the seaside where she sought tranquility.

She had joined the Cult of the Fallen Rebel not too long ago, believing in the legend that they found so prominent in their survival and restoring humanity. Mir had not obliged to indulge them in her background yet, not knowing she was currently homeless or that she was on the run from the bandits of Firalgia. Nevertheless, she felt that now her life had a purpose, something more meaningful to believe in and work towards, a reason to wake up every day.

Watching the clouds darken with slight hues of sage green, she narrowed her eyes with comprehension. She quickly rised to her feet and ran to a shelter nearby. It was a simple wooden shack where fishing supplies were stored. Nothing too important as bandits were always feared, no matter the frequency of their visits. She knew she had a meeting to attend to for the cult, but now she would have wait for the rain to stop. She only hoped Raizan, the leader, would not mind.

When the rain stopped, Mir pulled a small scarf from her pocket and held it in front of her mouth and nose. She bolted into a run to find Raizan's home, to which the back door remained unlocked in order to access the underground location of the cult headquarters.

Letting herself inside and removing the scarf, she breathed in deeply and exhaled. Stuffing the scarf back in her pocket, she opened the trapdoor and climbed down the ladder, ensuring she closed the trapdoor midway down the ladder. As she hit the floor, jumping off the last step, she looked around to find only Raizan present. He was studying the sword that hung on the floor.

"Raizan." She said, to announce her presence and greet him. She slowly made her way down to the seats and sat on one of the chairs. She leaned on the back of the chair, and sighed. She didn't say much, it should be only obvious that the rain had prevented her from coming earlier. She could ask where the others were, but again, obvious. So she remained quiet, waiting for the leader to speak or simply absorb in the silence.

Rayne Grindal

Rayne frowned as she watched the rain, from the shelter of a tavern. The village of Belagia was not quiet during the rain, but the mood had definitely dampened. There had once been a time when people could dance in the rain unharmed by its acidity. But that sounded like a mere fairy tale to Rayne. Going into the rain was deadly. Rayne clutched her coat close to her body at the thought of the rain drops burning away the flesh. For a brief moment she recalled watching her house burn to the ground, her husband's and child's bodies still inside. She shook her head as if to shake out the memory. Now was not the time to dwell on the past.

Once the rain stopped Rayne made her way out of the tavern. Pulling her hood above her head so not to catch any drops from the roofs of the buildings and covering her mouth with a handkerchief to keep out any toxins in the air. As she made her way to her destination it crossed her mind that she was late, but it didn't really matter to her all to much. At worst the leader would most likely slap her hand then move on with the meeting. If he ever turned out to be angry she could always find ways to make him forgive her. She was clever, she knew she could figure something out.

She walked into a small house and made her way towards the back, her foot tapped lightly on top of the trap door which gave out a hollow thud. She opened the top and climbed down the ladder with ease. She wasn't surprised to see that she was not the first one there. She glanced at the table and chairs, but did not sit down. Instead she sent a long stare at the leaders back, her eyes following where she guessed he was looking and saw the sword on the wall. She rolled her eyes and chose to lean against the wall. She crossed her arms in front of her chest and let out a loud sigh.

*~*~*Raizan Rydell*~*~*
...until the journey ends.

Raizan was thinking back to the old Cult of the Fallen Rebel. A group of wizened old men who didn't know what they were doing. They just told the old stories. They didn't actually do anything with the stories. They just repeated them back and forth until they were sick of the sound of their own voices. He was glad that he had taken action. Even if it was abominable. He was still guilt-ridden about it.

Raizan knew that someone was in his home even before the trapdoor opened. After all, the hut wasn't particularly soundproof. He pulled himself out of his reverie but continued to look at the sword, listening as Mir dropped in. He heard her call his name and smiled a bit. He was pleased that she was doing better. He had talked to her several times about her background. He was glad that she wasn't incapacitated by her experience. He spoke without looking away from the sword.

"Hello Mir, how are you this evening? Doing well, I trust?"

H
e then heard the sound of another. He could tell by her sigh that it was Rayne. She was one of the members of the group that seemed a little hesitant about the group as a whole. He knew that she had a dark past just like Mir's. Their lives were all affected by the island's bandits. It was part of what brought them together. He turned to look at the two, speaking quietly.

"Pleasure to have you here, Rayne. The others must be late due to rain. We'll wait a few minutes more for them. Was there anything either of you wished to speak to me about?"

"Meh, could have been better." She replied smoothly without hesitation. It was true. She could have been better, if she could only get some proper shelter and food to live off of. "How are you?" She asked Raizan back politely. It would have been rude to only reply and not care about the inquirer. It's not that she didn't care but what more than a generic reply could she expect from someone who seemed so mysterious to her.

As she heard a thump on the trap door above behind her, she figured another member had arrived. She looked behind her to see who it was. It was Rayne. Beautiful, mature, the type of woman all girls were envious of. Mir would admit she was intimidated by this woman's presence. Her beauty was alluring to say the least. The woman chose not to take a seat but rather lean against the wall. She may have the looks, and along with that, she even had some sort of attitude. As the woman sighed, Mir sighed as well but less audible. She turned around and faced Raizan who was standing behind the lectern.

"So what's the meeting about?" Mir asked, curious to know why he had called them all here. It wasn't a regular meeting, well, it's not like they had regular meetings. It was all sporadic.

Rayne Grindal

Rayne glanced around the room, in the back of her mind she absently wondered if she had tied her boat properly at the docks. She didn't want someone running off with her boat. It was really the only thing she had left from her village.

When Raizan spoke up she looked towards her gave him a weak smile and nodded at his words. Normally Rayne was a bit of a talker, she had no sense of modesty and usually invaded others personal space, but she was stand offish when it came to Raizen. He bugged her in a way with his mysteriousness. Plus he understood her in a way she didn't want him too. She had never told him or anyone else in the Cult, what had really happened to her before she joined the rebellion. When they asked she merely told them that bandits had burned down her village. She didn't tell them about her husband and child because she didn't want to be pitied. But Raizen seemed to have seen through her and knew something darker had happened. Which was why she avoided him to an extent.

When he asked if her or Mir had anything to ask him, Mir spoke up and took the words right out of her mouth. Rayne lookked to Raizan for his answer, tilting her head.
