Fighting to keep from squealing out loud with glee at Lennix-mouse's antics, Tonny settled for minutely clapping her hands together at his sprightly little jumps. The last thing she wanted to do was to draw the attentionj of any soctors hiding in the shadows; she had seen a movie once where a prison guard had callously stepped on a prisoner's pet mouse. The doctors would be just as evil, she was certain, if they discovered Lennox looking like this, especially if they didn't know that it was one of their own patients they were trodding underfoot. As she watched him run his paws over his head in a mock washign of his face, she had to clap her hands over her mouth to keep in the 'Awwww!!' that threatened to burst forth. It was hard to believe that this adorable little creature was her friend; if she had forgotten, she probably would have just scooped him up and cuddled him to her breast, an action which probably would make the little fellow glow red with embarassment.

Tonny watched as Lennox-mouse ran under the door, already guessing what he was intending to do. She stood up quickly and glanced around once more to make sure no doctors were in sight before she heard the lock click and she moved to collect the clothes and pass them through the door to the waiting form on the other side. "That was really awesome" she whispered as she perssed close to the door, not trying to snatch a peek, but making ready to slip inside the kitchen and out of sight of the hallway the instant her friend was decent. "I heard a ton of pops when you changed though; does any of that hurt? It sounds like the last time I was in a chiropractor's office." She chuckled. "But you sure made a cute little mouse. Is that the smallest thing you can turn into, or can you go all microscopic? And can you go really huge, like a dinosaur? If you could, I bet you could tear this place apart and we could ALL get out of here!" She then fell silent and waited for Lennox to finish changing; she couldn't wait to explore the kitchen!

Tonny's chattering was so welcome. The rapid fire questions helped keep his mind off the brief wave of weariness he was feeling. It was always like this after rapid changes. Just one change left him feeling sore, but to do one right after another had a further effect on him. Perhaps if he practiced more often then he would be able to do multiple changes one right after the other?

"I am glad you were not unsettled. I was not certain how you would react to my transformed state." He spoke through the crack in the door as he tugged his pants up to his waist. Once the button was secured and the zipper closed, he nudged the door open a bit and made a motion for Tonny to slip inside. Lennox waited until she was safely inside before moving to lock the door behind her. He always felt more secure and relaxed when the door was locked behind them. He knew for a fact that no one was going to sneak in behind him, now them, and try to take whatever it was he decided to make that day for Daniel.

"Well. Truthfully it does hurt." Lennox sheepishly admitted. He placed a smile on his lips to counter his words though, as if by smiling he made it so that the pain he went through meant nothing at all. At least that is what he was hoping. "The gerbil is the most painful, I think it's because it's just so different from my real form. It's the only way to get inside though, so it is the one I use most often. I sort of think that I am just either getting used to the pain that comes, or maybe the more I change the less it hurts me. I'm pretty sure it's not as bad as the first time." He assured Tonny while shifting his vest back over his shoulders. Flexing his wings a few times, Lennox looked around the kitchen thoughtfully.

"The gerbil is the smallest I can manage right now. I am not certain if I can turn into a dinosaur. I have not figured out all the rules and limitations to my changing. Right now I only have three other shapes I can change into. I have a cat form and..uhm..." Lennox paused and lifted a hand to rub at the back of his head as a sense of embarrassment washed over him. "Say. How about we get some food huh? You may want to grab some dishes as well, so you can hide those in your room. And a knife maybe, for protection? I'd suggest grabbing some canned food to store. You don't know the next time I will be able to get you in here after all. If something happens to me tomorrow then this would be your only chance for real food huh?"

Tonny chuckled as she waited patiently for Lennox to finish changing and motion that it was safe for her to come inside. "Well, I could see some girls getting all screamy and foot-stomping, but I'm not afraid of little animals like some. My Uncle Crimin had all kinds of rats and mice and lizards for his experiments, so I'm not likely to be squeamish. I'd even play with them sometimes when he wasn't using them for something. Nothing quite like teeny little mousy feet crawling all over your hands." She paused for an instant, remembering her Uncle's lab and wishing, despite her good company at the moment, that she was there now, feeding the rats and letting the keets sit on her shoulders and nibble her ears. Oftentimes she wondered if he ever figured out where she had vanished to, and if he did, if he ever would make a try at getting her out. Not likely, seeing as his previous police record would show through if he was caught trespassing anywhere, even on the grounds of a building that she was certain would be investigated for 'suspicious' activity if they were even aware that it was anything more than an abandoned castle.

Suddenly seeing Lennox's hand snake out and motion for her to come inside, Tonny cast one more glance around to make sure nobody was watching before she joined her friend in the kitchen. She breathed a sigh of relief when he locked the door; now if anyone tried to sneak up on them, they'd have to shake the knob first, giving them ample time to at least hide. Eyeing the small loaves that she had seen through the glass, she moved over to them and began methodically picking them up and thumping them like tiny watermelons, testing for the hardness of the crust. "Well, maybe if you DID practice doing it more often, it might stop hurting, or at least hurt less. It's a really awesome trick, but it makes me kind of sad that you have to hurt so much every time you do it." She nodded as she heard him....almost say the other two forms that he could turn into besides a gerbil. Hearing the pause in his voice, she turned and looked at him curiously, but she didn't press the matter. Doubtless whatever it was, he had been made to turn into it; he didn't seem the type to turn into anything that would shame him if he couldn't possibly help it. Poor Lennox.

She smiled discreetly at the subject change and went along with it. "Well, seeing as my Uncle never had a girl in his life, I'm not averse to eating like a total slob, but I guess at least a cup would be okay; I hate how much water gets wasted when I use my hands to drink; not to mention how dirty my hands usually are. They never give us so much as a group shower; it's like they enjoy seeing us dirty." Her eyes widened as she looked around eagerly; why hadn't she thought of a nice kitchen knife right from the off? Imagine how handy that would be, and how much safer she would feel if it were near, and she could reach for it and slice off the inquisitive fingers of any doctor or orderly that tried to get near her. "Well, definitely get some non-perishables; I don't want to have to deal with rotten food; there are bad enough smells around this place without that. Maybe we can find some jerky or something, or maybe the doctors have a really good stash of stuff somewhere.....like nacho chips. Man, I can't remember the last time I had some chips; good non-stale ones that didn't just fall on the floor from some orderly's lunch bag."

"Screamy and foot stompy happens to be one of my new greater fears." Lennox would half jokingly reply. "Although I am not sure how weird it would be to be the tiny mouse with the feet scampering all over your hands." He shook his head a little at the image of being held by Tonny. He'd never dare take his mouse form around Daniel. As much as he trusted Daniel and admired him...he was not certain if his friend would be tempted to try and eat him or not. As a cat he didn't have that fear, and truthfully it made him feel more at ease snuggling up against his room mate then as himself. Lennox rolled his shoulders one last time to try and get some of the kinks out from his transformation before fanning his wings as wide as they would go. Sometimes the act of fluttering them slowly relaxed the muscles from his spine up to his neck. It was odd, but it helped calm him some too.

"I will say, the changing is coming a bit more quickly to me, and that helps cut down on some of the pain." Lennox continued the conversation as he began to poke through the cupboards. His nose sniffed a little and he eyed the fridge. "I think that the more I've changed, the more I get used to where things go or something. So it happens too quick for all the pain to hit me like it used to." A trick. That simple word brought a half smile to Lennox's lips. When he heard trick, he thought of magicians and cards or perhaps clowns. Shape shifting was not something he could imagine anyone else just picking up a 'How To' book to learn. Lennox's tail flicked behind him as he pried open the fridge door. Ah! Now this made him smile! Eagerly Lennox pulled out half a salmon wrapped in paper. He knew what it was by scent, though the word 'SALMON' scrawled across the paper in black wax would have told him that anyways. Humming to himself in a pleased manner, Lennox carried the fish towards the kitchen table and began to unwrap it.

"Mmm. I'm still working on finding other rooms with working bathrooms and locks personally. I want to be able to help people find safe places to stay if I can. Daniel has a working bathroom so I don't have to worry about staying clean...course he also has a pool in his room, so staying clean is no hard task." Lennox poked at the fish after he unwrapped it, then quickly busied himself by setting some herb dusted oil to heating on the stove. "Meh. I can't eat chips anymore. They get stuck between my teeth and drive me crazy trying to get them out. Though I think there may be a box of crackers or chips in the cupboard next to the door." Lennox pointed towards the one in question as he began to sear the tuna. "I've been in here so many times I'm nearly as familiar as the kitchen staff with this place." He could not help but brag.

Tonny had been thinking something remotely similar even as Lennox mentioned screaming and foot-stomping as a fear. Though it didn't occur to her that his room mate might be tempted to eat him, she was thinking more along the lines of the other humans in the asylum. There may have been many other things more worthy of people's fears than rodents, but that wouldn't stop them from bringing their feet down onto a poor defenseless creature, if just to reassure themselves that they could still lord over something in that godforsaken place. As for the doctors......well, she had seen The Green Mile, and was less than thrilled about the thought of Lennox taking the place of poor Mister Jingles.

She distracted herself by following Lennox's lead, peering into cupboards and pantries and scanning the shelves for food that she could hoard and slowly eat off of. Her eyes fell on jars of peanut butter; the best friend of hikers and those who have to wait a long time between meals. It was even the chunky kind! Grinning, she grabbed two of the jars and looked about for a plastic bag to carry her loot in. A search under the sink revealed trash bags; she helped herself to one and resumed her search for non-perishables and more useful items, including finding a box of saltines in the cupboard pointed out to her by Lennox. It wasn't until she had added three boxes of cereal, five cans of beans, a hand-operated can opener, a small loaf of bread, and the biggest kitchen knife she could find (stuck in said loaf so that the blade's sharp edge didn't slice her bag open) that she noticed that Lennox was unwrapping the salmon and heating up the stove. "Are you going to cook that here? I mean, not that I wouldn't mind a decent meal, but are you sure we'll have enough time?"

She looked nervously over at the door they had come in at, and her eyes suddenly fell on a shiny key nailed into the wall beside a locked cupboard that she hadn't noticed before. Setting her bag aside, Tonny walked over to the key, pulled it off of the wall and used it on the cupboard's slightly rusted lock. Opening one door carefully in case there was some nasty surprise inside, Tonny's eyes widened as the light from the kitchen glinted off of row upon row of bottles of all shapes and sizes, with faded labels that read things like 'brandy', 'vodka' and even 'Zinfandel.' Turning to Lennox, she spoke excitedly. "Lennox! Look at this! They have a liquor cabinet! We should take some of this; for medicinal purposes, you know? I'd rather trust myself with a bottle of alcohol than one of those doctors with all the medical equipment they have." She looked down at the key in her hands, pondering. "I wonder if there's a way we can make a duplicate of this; like get something from here that we can use for a mold, and then find something else, something hard, to pour into it and make another key with. It wouldn't be perfect, but as long as it could open the lock, it'd be the closest thing we're ever likely to get to being able to help heal ourselves if we get seriously hurt."

Tonny would know what to gather for herself, so Lennox focused on his cooking. He still was no chef, but he had seen his mother cook often enough to trust his memories. Plus, he just seemed to have a faint instinct when it came to the herbs in the kitchen. Lennox began to pick up some of the herb bottles and popped the tops to sniff at them. Opening the rosemary, his tail stiffened and his wings gave a faint buzz when the heady aroma seemed to fill his senses. "Hnnn?" He hummed when he heard Tonny ask her question. He placed the top onto the rosemary bottle and slipped it into the pocket of his vest.

"Oh. yes. There is a few hours before anyone should show up to start working on the morning meal I'm sure." He replied with a small smile. "I always cook Daniel something when I break into the kitchen. I have to make the pain worthwhile you know? And seeing Daniel enjoying my food is oddly satisfying." Lennox turned his attention back to the pan and gently flipped the salmon over onto it's other side. "Actually it's weird but I sort of get this panicked feeling if I do not get him something to eat on a regular basis. I suppose it's a subconscious fear or something. It makes no sense to me, but it's easier on my nerves to just fulfill it." He was really chatting away now wasn't he? Lennox's smile continued to grow as he fingered the bottle in his pocket.

"Daniel is amazing you know. I'm extremely safe when I'm with him. No one would dare mess with him. He's really strong and smart. I'm very lucky that he has let me move in with him." Len paused and glanced over to Tonny. She sounded so excited! "Oh, is that what is in there?" He replied with only mild curiosity.

"I've never looked in there before, but that is sort of cool. I wonder if Daniel would like something from there." He looked from the key to the door, then smiled in faint amusement. "But the key hangs right there Tonny, why do we need a copy when it's provided? It sounds like a good idea to take some though. I'll have to ask Daniel if he likes liquor. I personally prefer milk...oh! Hey! Could you grab me a jug? Now that I think of it I'd really like some!"

Satisfied with Lennox's answer, Tonny returned her attention to the cupboard of spirits. A few hours was certainly enough time to cook some good fish, and if the staff wondered at the dirtied utensils and the smell of halfway decent cooking, well that was for her and Lennox to know and them to find out. And the way that fish was starting to smell, it already seemed worth the risk, even if she had yet to taste it.

Picking up one of the bottles and turning it over to read the proof amount, Tonny couldn't help but frown a little as Lennox spoke. "Does he hurt you or something when you don't bring him food to eat? It almost sounds like you're afraid of him doing something to you if you don't." She didn't like the thought of someone bullying Lennox around like that, especially if it was under the guise of protecting him from the other horrors of the asylum. Then again, Lennox didn't seem like teh type to simply fall for something like that. Perhaps it was more like an adoring little brother hoping to please. More so when she heard him gushing about how strong and smart he was. Perhaps she should get Lennox to introduce her to this guy.....he sounded as though he could really help her find a way out of here.

She turned and laughed as she waved the key at Lennox's back. "You silly; we can't just take it! If the staff notice that it's gone, they'll move the stuff and get a new key! We might never get another chance to get some of this stuff. With a duplicate, all we'd have to do is sneak in here again and we would have plenty of alcohol for when one of us gets hurt. It isn't the same as proper ointment, bit it'll do in a pinch; I learned that from a survival guide." Turning back once more, she grabbed the bottle with the largest proof number before hastily closing the cabinet door, though leaving it unlocked in case Lennox wanted to grab something once he was finished playing Chef Ramsey. "Are you sure you want to try this place's milk? I mean, I know they keep everything fresh in here for the staff, but.....I dunno.....yeesh." XP

Well! Lennox found himself blinking as Tonny would question him about Daniel. His eyebrows lifted a little on his forehead and he took his eyes off the fish he was searing for a moment. "What?" Hurt him?? "Absolutely not! Daniel has never hurt me." Well, that wasn't entirely true, but he could count their very first encounter. He had been provoking him and deserved the slightly rougher treatment he'd gained. "No. Daniel doesn't hurt me. It's just, he's a shark." His shoulders lifted and fell a little before he returned his attention to the pan before him. Lennox used the spatula to flip the seared fish meat as he continued speaking.

"Daniel is more relaxed after he's had something to eat. I mean, don't get me wrong. Daniel could be as dangerous as anyone else here if he chose to be. But he would get weak if he didn't eat enough. If he was weak, someone would surely try to hurt him. So I make sure he get's the food he needs so he'll stay strong and be able to protect us both better." He was so quick to defend as well as explain what he was doing and why. It actually made him wonder, with good reason he supposed, if it was due to the kiss in some way? Maybe...he needed to validate his actions outside of it, so that others would not think...well..what? Lennox poked at the fish, then gently slid it from the pan and onto a sheet of tin foil. He motioned to the sizzling pan with one hand and stepped off to one side.

"If you want to cook yourself up some fish now is a good time to do it. The pan's at the right temperature and it wouldn't take long." He prompted Tonny while carefully folding the foil to keep as much of the heat locked in as he could manage. He couldn't help but half smile though when she called him silly next. "I suppose your right. Hmm...Did they have any whiskey in there? Maybe Daniel would like it...or rum? I'm not sure. I wish we had a way to duplicate the key, but I don't have any way to do that. Even with soap we'd still need something to whittle or craft right?" Lennox looked over the door, then shook his head as he moved to open it. Taking his turn now to poke around inside, his tail twitched quickly from side to side with curiosity.

"Oh, I have no doubt the milk is good. They keep the regular staff food in here too, that's why I break in to get food." He assured her as he pulled out a small bottle of some amber colored liqueur. He tucked it under a arm, then nabbed a bottle of cooking wine as well. Maybe he could learn to make something with this? Lennox turned and waved to the kitchen as a whole. "I can't wait until Daniel and I have our own kitchen. Then I can just take the food and hurry back there to cook. I'm really excited about it and really hope we don't get caught."

Tonny shuckled and shook her head as she stood in front of the cabinet, still trying to ponder the dilemma of the spare key, but finding Lennox's talk amusing. She had to admit, if HER best friend was a shark, she'd probably be nervous too, even more so than her friend, most likely. She would have a hard time going to sleep and not worrying about her sharp-toothed friend getting a case of the munchies in the middle of the night and the next thing she knew, she would wake up with one leg missing or half-gnawed. Lennox was one brave soul, living with someone like that, even if he was friendly and protective.

"A mutual relationship, eh?" She understood that well enough. After all, even the scariest shark wouldn't amount to much on land, where he could just snap at people and gasp his life away on the sandy shore. It was easy to imagine a kind soul working to keep the shark alive and fed, and in return he would continue to snap and appear threatening to anyone looking for an easy target. Seemed as though all in all, her friend had a pretty good thing here in this place. She wished she could have someone here that she trusted that much. But while she had met her share of people here, she honestly couldn't say she trusted anyone THAT much. Well, except maybe for.....

She blinked and turned around in time to see Lennox wrapping up the cooked fish and gesturing to the still sputtering pan. Of course! He had been making food for himself and his room mate, not for him and her! Feeling exceedingly foolish for harboring such a romantic notion as Lennox cooking for her, she moved quickly over to the pan and selected her piece of fish, her face feeling as sizzling hot as the pan. Not turning to look back at Lennox to give her face some time to stop being red, she nodded. "I think there was some Jack Daniels in there; don't know about rum. I did see some brandy; that would be really good for reviving someone who's been hurt. I've seen it done on TV, like with Sherlock Holmes." As she watched the fish turn golden brown, she inhaled the smell of good food and observed th tinfoil; she could wrap it up like Lennox and bring it back to her own room to eat.

As she removed the pan from the hot burner, she looked around for maybe a bag of chips to take as well, when her eyes fell on a shelf where a row of 2 liter soda bottles sat. Something in her brain clicked just then, and forgetting all about the fish, she ran over and grabbed one, almost running to the sink as she hurried to open it. "Lennox! I know how we can make a spare key! I saw my uncle do this once when he needed a spare key for one of his lab rooms and he was on a blacklist for the keym-.....that is, he needed a new one." Finishing rather lamely, she upended the bottle over the sink and watched the syrupy mixture glug down the drain. No sense in saving something like this; lukewarm soda was no good and it would only go flat in a day anyway.

Once she gave the empty container a quick rinse, Tonny rummaged in a drawer until she found a pair of scissors and the sharpest knife she could find. Cutting out a square from the bottle, she placed the key on it and proceeded to use the knife to carve around it, until she had a small replica, looking almost holographic with the greenish plastic. She held it up triumphantly. "I'll have to throw the rest of the bottle away somewhere; I'd use it to make more keys later, but I don't have any scissors, and I don't want them catching on if they see a key cut-out from the bottle." Grinning from ear to ear, she carefully set the bottle-key down and resumed wrapping up her fish, which had already started to cool. "Just come and see me whenever you need to get more; I just wouldn't make a habit out of it, or they might notice it all going missing."
