Eirnae Slytherin-Natenhar

PostPosted: Thu Jan 19, 2006 5:40 am

Kamus settles down into a seated position next to Damien by his feet, looking much like the hunting dogs of old England as they attendened to their kings. His eyes sweep over the room, always on alert for possible threats to his Master's safety. He allows himself a pleased hiss as his head is pet, but he resists the urge to press his head into the attention. His Master must be protected.

Eirnae's reaction to Lenore sitting down next to her was to slide her closest arm around Lenore's back and rest a hand at the curve of her hip. The shadowdancer's smile gains a pleased tilt to it as Rhiannon speaks, nodding now and then to show that she is indeed listening. When Lenore starts to add her thoughts on what Rhiannon has said, she turns her head slightly to regard Lenore's lips as they move. She finds herself pushing down the urge to kiss said lips before she notices Lenore has stopped talking and is now looking to her for her own input. She keeps herself from blinking like an owl just awoken by the sun in her embarassment. While she had heard all that was said, she had been so afixed that she'd allowed a full few seconds to pass before realizing it was her turn to talk. A faint blush works its way over her cheekbones as she quickly latches onto her slipping cue, "Aye, thank you for your kind words, Rhiannon. Coming from such a lovely girl as yourself, they mean much."

She reaches over to tap a finger on the side of her own glass to cover up her social blunder, the crystal ringing clearly as she murmurs the words 'silverberry wine' in elven. The bowl of the glass complies by slowly starting to fill with a silvery liquid, looking not so much like molten metal as it does white wine with a glittering silver overcast. "I admire your honesty, my dear. Such will take you far in this family. Also, you need not be so nervous. You'll find that what is most important to us is Damien's happiness, and if you are who makes him thus, then you will have no troubles here." She pauses before adding, "I must warn you, however... Stay with Damien long enough, and our family will likely adopt you and yours." She cracks an impish smile before going on, "Once that happens, there is no escape." Her eyes then gain a glint of the guilt of having missed much of Damien's younger years as she adds softly, "And I can only imagine how you and Damien must have looked climbing trees." She is quick to perk up, determined to keep the mood light, "Was it difficult getting him out of the study?" She winks over in Damien's direction teasingly.

Her heart had seemed to come up to her throat whilst she waited for his mothers to speak after what she has said, had admitted. When they both had said their piece her heart calmed, and she felt the first signs of relaxtion since arriving here.
'I would never hope to be a cause of pain to Damien,' she snuck a glance at him then, smiling, then looked between Eirnae and Lenore. She chuckled at that memory; her scrambling up the tree with ease, and having to help Damien up into the branches.
'Well Lenore, she did the bringing him out of his study...I just helped him climb the tree.'
She remembered how happy her mother had been then...and what she was like now.
'I know this is a big thing of me to ask so soon after meeting you both properly...but you both know my mother, and longer obviously then I have. Could I ask your help in something to help my mother?' she said, her face showing her discomfort at having to share family problems.

Damien's brows furrow, and he looks at Rhiannon at the last bit. He is about to ask her something, but he notes Lenore leaning in just a little.

Lenore's brow is the mirror of her son's, and she is frowning. "Of course," she says, worry in her tone. "What's the problem?"

'She's not herself...my father has been absent alot lately,' she scowled faintly.
'Months on end in fact he disappears for now. And he keeps doing it without really telling her where he is going or for how long..' Rhiannon sighed a little.
'I'm not - I mean I have Damien in my life, and other friends. But I think she's lonely, and she won't let me help. I think she thinks that she'll be a nuisance or something.'
Rhiannon lowered her head, whispering the last little bit.
'I think she's been drinking and I'm scared for her.

Ouch... Eirnae almost winces at the sudden shift in subject. What David is doing to Sayuri is a little too close to home in regards to the situation she had left Lenore in. She strokes her hand down towards Lenore's thigh as far as she can reach without straining, and then glides it back up. An idea enters her brain, and refuses to leave. It demands to be spoken aloud, and so she does, though she does try to keep it subtle. "Of course we'll help, in any way that we can," she gently promises before continuing, "Tell me, Rhiannon, how many live where your mother is currently staying?"

'Thank you,' she said softly, gratefully. Rhiannon glanced at Damien, squeezing his hand gently again, and looked steadily at Eirnae, confused at why she'd be asking but answered anyways.
'Just myself, my mother...father,' a dark look crossed her face again.
'Sati doesnt really count,' she said out loud and to herself.
'She's moved again and doesnt stay with us often.'

"Ah, I see," she says with a bemused half smile at the recognized signs of confusion over her question that rippled througout Rhiannon's reply. The dark look at the mention of David's parental title makes her wince inside yet again, though now it is because of how much she'd like to reach through the miles and slap David upside his head. No magical slumber had been cast on him, so his time away from his family is unexcusable. She holds in a spoken insult that would have concerned a certain shifter's sense of honor, and instead focuses on their guest and her current problem with a warmer version of her previously teasing smile tugging at the corners of her sensual mouth. "I hate to ask this of you, Rhiannon, but could I steal Damien away for a few minutes? I need to speak with him and Lenore alone over a possible solution for your mother's difficulties."

Her sea green eyes gain a twinkle in their depths and she looks to first Damien and then Lenore, hoping that they'll be agreeable to a little chat so she can discuss her idea before imposing anything on either one.

A curious Damien meets Eirnae's eyes with his own before he looks back at Rhiannon.

Lenore's brow furrows a little, curious herself. However, she returns her gaze to Rhiannon, and smiles, close-lipped. "I am sure it will only take a moment," she says. "But, I would understand if you didn't want him to leave." Her eyes have a playful twinkle in them as she stands.

One of the many perks of tonight will be, Lenore decides, watching their son blush over comments that they make. She holds in a laugh, covering her mouth with her scaled, right hand, and walks from the room.

Damien watches Lenore leave, the blush slowly fading. He leans in toward Rhiannon's ear. His voice is barely a whisper, he says, "This won't take long. And, they love you, so don't think any different." He knows his mums will probably hear him, but he also knows that they have better manners than to actively listen.

He then kisses her cheek, and waits for her response to Mum Eirnae.

Rhiannon nodded to Eirnae, still confused but thinking that if it was something that helped her mother then she would gladly sit here perplexed.
'Well,' she smiled at Lenore, and then giggled at the blush which crept over Damien's cheeks. She squeezed his hand and then let it go finally, returning the kiss, but feeling a little self conscious at doing so in front of one of his mothers.
'I'll try not to,' she whispered back.
'Hurry back,' she smiled at him.

Damien gives Rhiannon one last smile, before he stands. He follows Lenore out of the room.

When he joins her, Lenore has her arms crossed over her midsection, and her dangerous heels are clicking against the hard floor. She looks over at him when she hears him enter, and gives him a smile.

Damien smiles back, and waits for Eirnae to join them.

She waits for both her lover and their son to rise and walk away before she gets up slowly. Much like a lion tamer not wanting to get a rise out of a new wild cat, she doesn't want to spook Rhiannon into thinking that she's fleeing from this new avenue in her family's life. She smiles reassuringly down at Rhiannon as she says softly, "We'll have him back before you know it," before heading after her loved ones.

Kamus considers remaining where he is to watch over Rhiannon for his Master, but is undecided as Damien walks away. He holds in a whine as he looks from the seated female's legs to his Master's retreating back. The final decision is hard for him, but after several seconds of deliberation he gets up and pads closer to Rhiannon. He settles down with a low hiss into the same protective stance as before, only this time his ward is Rhiannon and not Damien. He doesn't expect for the female to react to his change in position, instead busying himself with watching the small movements in the room.

Eirnae walks around the bend of the hallway, coming to a quick halt at the sight of Lenore and Damien standing closer to the corner than she'd figured. She eases herself into a position so Rhiannon may see a part of her back, but not her front or her hands, fully aware that she tends to move them about as she talks. "As we have company over, I'll keep my inquiry short," she relates while smiling at both of them, a twinkle in her eyes as she rolls into her actual question, "How would you both feel about Sayuri and Rhiannon coming to live with us?"

Rhiannon nodded, watching them leave and sort of relaxing, taking the time to look around the room from her vantage point on the seat. She blinked as the creature called Kamus moved closer to her, wondering why he had moved. She was not afraid of it per se, but she felt it best not to move around overly until Damien had returned.

Lenore looks from Eirnae, to Damien, then back again. She's not sure she heard her love correctly, and she blinks a little.

Does she want her son's girlfriend moving in? So he has easier access to the activities that require all those boxes that he got in the mail?

Stop being a prude! a tiny voice in her head says.

And she laughs.

When Damien frowns over at her, she puts a scaled hand up. "No, I am not laughing at the question," she says. "Really, I don't have any problem with it. I am just . . . amused by something."

Damien ignores Mum Lenore, for the time being, and looks over at Mum Eirnae. "I don't mind at all," he says, smiling a little. "I don't know if they would agree to it, but it does not hurt to ask."

Lenore is still snickering. She holds up a hand again. "Excuse me," she says through her giggles. She walks toward the kitchen, her giggling quieting.

Damien raises a brow at Mum Eirnae. "I think Emme might have found Mum Lenore some spiked blood. . . ." he comments. "At any rate, I think we are all for the idea." His smile widens, and he peeks around Mum Eirnae to look into the room they left.

Eirnae nudges Damien's bicep gently as he leans, what was once just a twinkle now of a fully fledged gleam of delight. She does so enjoy anticipating what her loved ones may or may not like. "Why don't we go and inform your lovely lady of what we've just discussed?" She's tempted to link arms with him, but retrains herself as she steps away from the wall to head into the hallway and slowly back to where she was previously seated. She still has to get used to the idea of Damien being 'hands off', as he was such a cuddler when he was younger. "We're back, dear," she announces to Rhiannon as she makes to sit down on the couch she shared with Lenore, plucking up her glass of wine in the process. "Lenore will be rejoining us shortly."

Damien is grinning as he sits back down, next to Rhiannon.

It isn't long before Lenore joins them, and plants her bum back in her previous seat. "Did I miss anything?" she asks, glancing at everyone present.

Damien shakes his head. "I think Mum Eirnae was getting ready to explain things," he says.

"Excellent," Lenore says, leaning back in her chair after taking up her glass. She takes a sip of her drink, and winces. Pulling her wand from where it is tucked in her bodice, she taps the glass. When it steams again, she smiles pleasantly.

Turning to Rhiannon, Damien starts, "We wanted to ask you something. You don't have to give us a reply right away. You can think on it however long you need to," he assures. Then, he glances at Mum Eirnae, waiting.
