"It does feel like meals are all the time we have to socialize, other than at the end of the day," Akaya agreed with a sigh--this one of exhaustion. No one had ever said taking care of a young dragon was easy, and she and G'brel had it a little better than those who had Impressed atypicals--they really were worked to the bone right now. "Or maybe we can all gather about when oiling our dragons. I don't know."
Sleeth bobbed her head along as she listened to Lifth's explanations, though she didn't quite follow. So--it's a good thing and I'll be doing it a lot but Akayamine thinks it's not good and...hey, why do we have to wait until we are grown? If it's fun why can't we do it now?

"Hey, oiling, feeding, whatever works," G'brel replied with a shrug. She had to stifle a yawn. "Sheesh, long day has been long. We should probably get to sleep soon if we want to be awake for tomorrow."
I don't think we actually can do it now, Lifth replied, looking slightly thoughtful at the question. It's something we gain the ability to do when we are adults. He wasn't going to go into the fact that the primary purpose of mating was for reproduction, for Greens were sterile and he did not wish to confuse her any further. He still wasn't even sure why Greens Rose-- unless to give some fun to the smaller colors as well? Hm. It was a possibility. It likely wouldn't create very good feelings if only Bronzes and Golds could participate in a 'Flight' as they had called it.

"Do we have to be awake tomorrow?" Akaya asked, plaintive, before smiling wearily. "Of course our little loves can't exactly feed or oil themselves..."
Like flying, or going between? Sleeth asked. There should be more fun things for us to do when we are small. I do not like waiting or being told no 'until you are older.' Catching the end of the humans' conversation, she bobbed her head again earnestly as she chimed in to both Akaya and G'brel, Someday. Although I do not think we can ever oil ourselves. There are too many spots it would be difficult to reach.
"And I don't mind it at all, except for the part where it and feeding you is all I do," Akaya said, reaching out to stroke Sleeth's soft hide. "Still, could be worse."

"You know, I have to say, that'd be rather interesting to watch a dragon attempting to oil itself," G'brel remarked. "I don't think it'd work out too well though." To Lifth and Sleeth she added, "Bet you guys are glad we have hands and not claws, eh?"
No, clawing up our hides would not be very pleasant, the blue agreed wryly, positioning himself more comfortably in his bed. That is why Mossy can't help you in oiling me.
"Oh yeah, where is that little flit anyway," she wondered aloud, glancing about the bunk briefly. No sign of her.
I don't know, nor do I particularly care. Probably off hunting tunnelsnakes.

"Well, I suppose bed it is then," Akaya said with a yawn of her own as she moved to undress--once again enormously grateful for a female roommate. If she'd had a near-panic attack at mating flights not even due to happen until the distant future, how much more would she have panicked placed with a male roommate? Restrictions on romance notwithstanding, it would've been entirely too jarring a circumstance change. She would wade into liberal Weyrlife slowly, preferably. G'brel was proving a helpful guide...(if perhaps inclined to over-informing)
Sleeth eyed Akaya thoughtfully, before swinging her head over to gaze at Lifth and G'brel. Akaya was grateful for them but didn't seem to have a way to show it, so Sleeth would show them for her! Sort of. The little green settled for flopping herself down next to Lifth, completely ignoring any desire he might have for personal space or possible distaste for her, not to mention her own bedding space across the room. Thank you for explaining. It was very helpful, she told Lifth, eyes whirling contentedly.

"Yeah, same here." G'brel actually wouldn't have minded having a male bunkmate, but she was glad at least that she ended up with someone pleasant enough. And at least she might be able to help the other adapt to Weyr life a bit more.
Lifth was taken by surprise by the action, and shifted uncomfortably at the sudden close proximity of the female dragonet. His personal bubble was completely obliterated in one false swoop. Um, you're welcome, he replied, eyes whirling with a mix of emotion-- none of them pleased. I think perhaps your own bedding would be more comfortable to sleep in, the blue remarked not so subtly. He wasn't intending to be rude, but he had his limits as to what he could tolerate.

You're warm, was the reply from the sleepy-sounding green as she leaned against him, though Sleeth did at least put her head on her own outstretched legs instead of completely draping herself across Lifth. It took only another minute or so before she started making quiet little sounds that one would have to assume meant the green was entirely asleep.
"Huh, she went straight out, didn't she?" Akaya said, taking note as she climbed into her own bunk. She'd have tried to encourage Sleeth back to her own space, but didn't have the heart to when the dragonet was sleeping so peacefully. It'd be a right pain to move her as well; Sleeth was mostly a heavy sleeper (though oddly selective in such matters, she'd wake right up for meals and music) and likely would remain asleep as one attempted such a move.

So is Yours, he pointed out, but the remark seemed to go entirely unheeded as not long after the green was already asleep. ............ Mine, how long until we have our own Weyr? the blue asked, even though he already knew the answer.
"Not until you're grown," G'brel replied nonchalantly to her dragon as she also climbed into bed. She couldn't help a small giggle though when she looked over at the pair and saw Lifth eying the green beside him warily. Oh relax a little, will you? It's not gunna kill you to have to sleep next to her for one night.
It's not just the one night I'm worried about, he said with a dscontented huff, settling his own head down on his legs to rest. I don't want her making a habit of this. I prefer my personal space. He hardly received enough privacy as it was.
The teen rolled her eyes. Don't worry I'm sure we'll find way to keep her out of your little 'bubble' in the future. Aloud she said, "Good night, Akaya. See ya in the mornin."
