He sighed and kissed her hair again. "Nor is it all your fault. If he didn't want to do right by you, he should have put a stop to things before it went that far." He shrugged. "And I'm sure you'll find someone, you're a beautiful fae, and there are nice guys out there. Besides me, of course," he finished, lightly teasing.
He frowned a bit when she asked him about his own life. "Well, I've met another faefox... she's beautiful, but always seems a bit distracted. By life, I guess. We've hit it off, but I'm worried it won't last. Either that she won't settle down, or that she can't settle down. I'm willing to wait and see, though." He gave her a half-smile. "Hopefully I won't end up in the same boat you're in."

She nodded and listened to him as he spoke, She closing her golden eyes. "For your sake I hope she is in it for the long run, brother...really..it hurts to know that someone could give you the best gift in the world and then not care about it." She looked at her daughter as Cassie dove into the water, she swimming like a little fish. "She is a blessing...I do hope...that she finds love when she gets older...I could wish nothing more than a life-mate for her." She looked up into her brothers eyes. "And for you..."

He smiled, eyes laughing. "I'm sure there's someone out there for me, for you, and for her. Every fae has someone destined for them, the trick is finding them." He laid back on the grass, pulling her with him. "So, tell me what this man was like who won you over. Or if that's too painful, what your dream man will be like, the one you'll find someday."

She blushed slightly as her brother spoke to her, the idea of telling him about Cassie's father making her cheeks flush a deeper red. "Well...he was a gorgeous male...fur like the sky at night, deep blue, gold...He just had a way of talking that..." She laughed and shook her head. "It doesn't matter really...he didn't really care about me anyway. A true mate cares about their love, right? I mean you should not just want to leave the the second you are through and..." She let out a slow breath. "A true mate needs to be...special...somehow..."
Cassie came walking out of the water, she drenched fro head to toe, shaking here and there to get the water off her fur. She stopped and looked at the two adults, cocking her head to the side before hunching down and shaking out her fur. "Water is wet...and I dunked a fish..." She nodded.

"Many of the ebil faes do that, even some of the neutral ones - take a lover without love - but it's not something I understand, either." He shrugged. "You'll find your special someone, though, Sol." He grinned a bit. "Just let me know next time you think I have, so I can put some fear into him in case he's thinking of hurting you."
He glanced over at Cassie as she finally came out of the river, and smiled at his niece, covering his face with his arm to keep it from getting splashed as she shook off. "How can you dunk a fish, they live in the water!" he asked, teasing gently.

The female laughed and nodded, she leaning against her brother, watching her child come up, she squealing as she was splashed with water. "I will be certain to let you know...if you will do the same Polaris..." She laughed and reached out to grab her dripping wet daughter, she tickling her for a time. "Be careful and do not splash people..."
Cassie flailed and kicked and tried to get away from her mom, she giggled and turned to Look at her uncle. "I dunked it...it went down in the water and then swam back up...he wanted to play more, so I dunkeded him again!

"I'll try, sister. I'm not sure the faefox I'm courting can be brought down to the ground long enough to come meet you." He laughed along as she grabbed her daughter, helping corral the squealing youngster. When she finally escaped, he pulled her into his lap. "Sounds like you made a good friend, then, if he was playing with you. You'll have to come back tomorrow and see if he's willing to play with you again."

The female nodded and smiled at her daughter, watching her brother with her. Cassie was so much more calm when being held by the man. "Your really do have a away with children...Cassie loves you."
Cassiopeia smiled. "I can only come back with a grownup though, and mommy doesn't like to go out very often." She pouted and gave hi big eyes. "And...how will I know the fishy is the same one? Maybe it will be his mean big brother that comes to get me and will nibble on my paws!!"

He grin and pinched her nose. "Well, then, I guess I'll have to come back tomorrow so you can come play with your fishy friend. And you'll know him because he'll be the fishy that lets you dunk him, of course! Any other fishies try to nibble your paws, and you just tell me, and I'll eat them right up." He pretended to chew on her head to demonstrate, making "Rararara" noises and lightly tickling her.

Cassie blinked and squeeled as he uncle began to nom on her head. SHe squirming and kicking as she laughed. "No!! No no!! Don't eat me!! I'm not a fishie!!" She starred up at him and smiled, tears in her eyes from laughing so hard. "Momma...it is ok that He come back and help me find fishie?"
Solstice smiled lightly and nodded, she looking to her brother. "I think it a wonderful idea that he return to play with you my dear. We do not get to see him enough..."

"Oh, you're not a fishie? Are you sure? You look tasty!" He kept trying to "eat" her for a few more moments, before finally having to stop to catch his breath from laughing too hard. When he was finally breathing easily again, he smiled down at his niece. "Well, then I'll be sure to come back tomorrow, and as often as I can after that." He elbowed his sister lightly. "And the two of you would get to see plenty of me if you'd ever come down into town. And you'd possibly get to meet some nice guys there, Sol."

Cassie smiled and hugged her uncle tightly, she kissing his cheek and grinning widely up at him. "I think Mommy should go to town too...she is sad lately, she needs to smile more." She giggled.
Solstice looked at her daughter and then her brother and blinked. "Cassie, I have not been sad...I have been..thoughtful." She turned to look at Polaris. "You sure there are nice guys in town, brother? I would think they all to be crazy goofballs like you." She laughed nudged him back. "I will come to town. It is only right that I return your favor after all. You did make Cassie smile alot today."

"Well... the ones I would introduce you to might be goofballs, but what's wrong with that!" he asked, mock-indignant. "And if my adorable niece has not been smiling much, then you clearly should be bringing her down to visit me. You have done a great disservice to both of us by not doing so sooner, in fact." He pulled a long face, playing up the suffering she had caused him, before grinning again to show he was teasing.

Solstice gave her brother a wary glance and crossed her arms under her chest. She cocked her head to one side and chuckled. "A 'great disservice' hmm..dear...dear brother, I will go to town with you an you can introduce me to these goofball friends of yours ok?" She laughed and pat his leg lightly. "And you can take care of Cassie while I do so...will that please you?"

His laughed, grabbing Cassie and quickly standing, before spinning in a circle, holding her up as she "flew". "Sounds wonderful, sis. Anything to get you out and about." He stopped spinning and settled his niece on his hip. "And the two of us will have a great time, while you go meet some nice guys. Who'll also show you a good time, even if you're determined not to let them." He grinned again, still teasing.
