Y'all really need to check out my anime list if you think shoujo is dying. It's still as popular as ever. I LOVE that genre! heart

Vintage anime though . . . I'm not into it. Early 90s is about as far back as I'll go but I prefer the look of today more than the look of yesterday.

Rose of Versailles introduced me to vintage anime, so for me it is the best one. I have even started watching the incomplete form of the musicals for it on youtube.

I love the musicals so much!! The Takarazuka Revenue are such beautiful woman and fantastic performers. ♥ I would love to own at least one of their RoV shows some day.

Oh I have so many favorites!
My absolute favorite is Rose of Versailles.
Some others are The Big O (anime version), Candy Candy, Suna no Shiro,
A, A1, and much more~

I did not know that Oniisama e was adapted into an anime!
I'll have to check that out sometime. I'm still not done with the manga though.
I haven't finished the Rose of Versailles manga either.
And still more manga I haven't finished including: Pansy, The Big O, Marginal, etc.

I've seen people who thought the older vintage works were ugly.
I understand that there can be a difference in opinion but the thing was
I was looking through the forums on a particular vintage manga (Suna no Shiro)
and a lot of the people there were obviously not acquainted with vintage manga.
To them the art was ugly and that there was something wrong with it.

Oh cool! I've always seen some really cool Sailor Moon cels on Ebay, but I can never bring myself to buy any. It's probably because I know how much of an addictive hobby it is and once your in, there's no getting out. xD I agree completely. Art shouldn't be just something you use to make money off of. I like when Manga artists really have a passion for what they're doing. It just makes their works all the much better.

I would! Although, I'd be pretty concerned on the subtitling. Hopefully it wouldn't be too bad, otherwise your just wasted like, 50 dollars. xD I recently just saw on Ebay the new movie that's coming out? It's called Rose of Versailles II. If you've ever seen the Pachinko Machine images, that's what this movies kind of looks like. I heard it was suppose to come out in 2011, but I guess it's out now? o.o This is basically the movie trailer, if you haven't seen it already. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HJlWpfRqsXc&feature=related
The art is VERY different. More so, the animation style. Which can be a good thing and a bad thing. :/ (Sorry, This was a bit off topic, just thought you might want to know. xD)

Yeah, I know what you mean. I've had to special order things occasionally. They almost NEVER have what I'm looking for. I know the company CMX has translated a lot of older mangas I like, but they went out of business and no longer print their mangas, so I can't have them. ;_; I can't even request them at the store.

I keep hesitating to buy vintage anime/manga stuff off of Ebay.
I really want to own them but the merchandise are quite expensive.

And I agree! I feel that a lot of the vintage manga/anime
were like pioneers and had a deeper storyline.
I am also in love with the style of vintage anime/manga, especially Riyoko Ikeda's works.

And I saw the trailer too! I have been waiting for La Rose de Versailles for years but
I heard that Riyoko Ideka is overseeing the production herself and
won't release it until she is satisfied.
Unfortunately, I don't think they can successfully cram in the whole story into
a 60 minute or so movie without taking out a lot.

I love the Takarazuka adaptions of RoV! I wish I could see the complete musicals but I could only find clips.
