For a kitten, slavery was all they knew. Running away... who said it was freedom? Being chased was not being free in Karuzir's opinion. She was sure freedom was doing what she was pleased to do and when she was given good care and good food in her stomach. Maybe it was just that secret? She knew how to not get under the master's paws and irritate them so that she never felt quite the hurt that other slaves might from their cruel masters.
"I can't say I miss something I have never known, and I daresay most others can't say anything either. We kittens are born into what we are, nothing else. If there's such a thing as being a free kitten we are chased. I do not see freedom in that, knowing you have no chance to be free in spirit to never have to watch yourself."
She sighed and gave a small shrug. "What do you want to be? You don't want to be a breeder but it's not like you can ever be truly free unless a master allows you a sense of freedom. Why not make a sense of what you want to be, something a hound needs and love it? You'll just feel miserable being chased or beaten... and I don't think that's really a life to live."
She felt like she was talking to a mud hut. It certainly was not easy speaking to the other slave and Karuzir just wanted to see her sister, do something. Working with a master was better than being stuck in a cage, unable to do anything at all.

"Oh I don't want to be chased." He turned his head to the side slightly so he could now see the other kitten's feet. "I'm sure there is someplace outside of Syria that allows cats to be free, and when I find it thats when I'll stop running." He had no intent of running his entire life nor did he want to. Just long enough that he was past the parts that hounds for sure were dominate over cats.
"Don't you think that if you ran far enough that there might not be slavery. Or maybe just an empty place in the middle of nowhere to call your own? Hounds can't rule every place..." He paused and curled himself back up again. "Can they?" He blinked his golden yellow eyes.

Karuzir frowned thoughtfully, to be truthful she had never considered what life was like outside of this area. Was there even a place where kittens were never slaves before? Was there even a time when their species were not slaves?
"Maybe there was once a time when we were not slaves. Maybe there is a place where we are not slaves. Who knows, except for those who might have gotten away and died. Or maybe there is one but they lived a good life."
Karuzir turned and sighed. There wasn't much to talk about anymore. But who knew of the world's circumstances. It was harder for kittens to match the master hounds. Even the foxes some times were harder to fend off. You never knew with them or any other creatures.
"We won't know, and to be truthful I don't like the uncertainty of what a life like that may lead to."

"I love uncertainty. Thats why being a slave is so boring. As a slave- I am a breeder. I make more kittens. They become slaves. I die. End of story. Not much uncertainty in being a slave honestly." He was still wrapped up into a ball as Mr. Hyde can strolling by the cages, he took one look at the two and plucked up Adalgiso's golden chain unlocking the cage.
"Gert me a hound lerking fer a purdy cat." He then took his chain and walked off all as the tiger stripped cat gave a sad look towards his kitten neighbor. 'Good Luck' He squeaked out as he got dragged off to the auction block.
