The happy look fled from Tari's face and she stepped back a pace from their questioning and assumptions. Her papa didn't abandon her, she was sure of it. No, it was just her mother, her papa surely didn't know about her existence, otherwise he would have at least come to see her once. But the caretakers hadn't said anything about Pleasure coming to the valley, so he must not have known. And while she was sore that her mother hadn't given her caretakers a reason for leaving her with mortals, the young goddess was sure that she had one. It could have been that she was in trouble or that she thought the pride would take better care of her. Tari refused to accept that she was just abandoned.

She moved closer to Hermes, in a way that a weaker individual would huddle at the side of a stronger individual. The tall bird seemed to grow a little as his feathers fluffed up slightly and his eyes narrowed in a scowl as he wrapped a wing around his goddess' back.
"My papa didn't leave me, he doesn't even know I exist," Tari replied with all confidence. How could they jump to such a conclusion? And Khuluma, the horrible things he said in that flat tone... What had happened to them in their young lives to make them think that way?

"I was never alone, the mortals were very good to me, their whole pride revolves around taking care of young gods and goddesses. And Hermie's the best friend I could ever have." She straightened a bit, and an older light came into her eye. She wasn't sure if it had happened the last time she was reborn, or the time before that, memories didn't stay with her. But when she was born, she carried the knowledge of the prides, the gods she knew, as well as her personality, instincts, and abilities. It was why when an angry god attacked her pride, she could fly away and live on her own with just her avian companion. She liked being the happy-go-lucky, playful, innocent youngling, but when push came to shove, her mind far outlived her body.
"I don't need my mother or father," she added in a slightly stern voice. Her chin rose a bit and her brow creased in an almost pensive line, her shoulders raising in the ghost of a shrug. "I just wish to know them." The young spark returned to her eyes after that and she gave them a short nod of certainty, her posture relaxing. It was difficult for her to tap into her older side, her physical youth naturally wanted to rebel against it. She knew the older she got, the easier it would be until she was taken over by the "maturity," though most likely she would remain the ditzy gossip she was now, for the most part. With little bouts of what Khuluma and Lucretia had just witnessed thrown in there at a more frequent rate than currently.

Lucretia was slightly taken a-back by what Khuluma said. She knew he had been lonely but he was talking about himself, not Kari and Lucretia wasn't stupid enough not to realise that. She wanted to comfort him but not at the moment, she had something to tell him later though she wasn't sure if it would cheer him up or not. It was something her mother had told her. Her mother had no family.... none.

"Family isn't worth it. You have a god who breeds with mortals. You could have hundreds of siblings." Lucretia shuddered at that thought, five was already more then enough. "You would hate it within seconds. Siblings, not worth it. Parents just restrict you." Lucretia loved her parents and her siblings but she had never felt freer then since she left with Khuluma. Why were they so obsessed with family? Maybe Lucretia would understand more if she had none but she honestly didn't see what was so great about it. She just took her family for granted.

He felt Tari was a bit too tender and hopeful about her parents, and he wondered if Limbuko would eitehr disappointed her or live up to her expectations. Either way, he looked at the feathers behind her ears with a certain degree of envy. They were clues and physical proof that would lead her, eventaully, to her family. He had no such thing and he was even tempted to reach out and tear them out from behind her ear. The more he looked at them, the more he didn't to turn away.

"Even if the mortals looked after you, they didn't give you all you needed for you to stay. Even if you want to know him, you do have a need to satisfy your curiosity. The only warning I can give is that you might not want to put your hopes up so high. Just because I liked Limbuko doesn't mean I know him. I can say he is great, but I only met him once when I was a cub. He could be bad and he could be irresponsible. I hope that he is a good father. If not, then it's good that you don't need him if he disappoints you." He looked at the bird. "Hermes, you must be a kind friend. I haven't meant too many birds who hang around gods aside from Mr. Bird who travels around Manes."

He gave the bird a respectable nod of acknowledgment before turning about, pausing to look at Lucretia. "Don't be so quick to talk down about family. You don't know what it's like to grow up without them. They might have their down points, but I would trade anything in the world in order to experience even those downers." He flicked his tail and walked off, leaving Tari and Lucretia by themselves. He was feeling more tired than before and he felt going to sleep was a better option than talking about such a depressing topic.

Tari looked between them, coming to the realization that they just didn't understand. The female, she was rude and judgmental. Whatever her family was like, Tari knew it wasn't universal. And no one could restrict her, even if they were her blood. It was not what she was made for, what her calling allowed.

"My devotion to my goddess knows no equal," Hermes replied, giving a short nod.

"Family is always worth it," she said and glanced at Hermes, giving him a small smile. "Even if they're not your blood."
She decided to ignore the hating part, because the younger goddess just didn't understand. Tari didn't have a true concept of hate. Sure, there were individuals she disliked, but she didn't hate them. In fact, she made it her life's goal to bother them in retaliation.

And Khuluma. He couldn't understand it either. How could he know what it meant to be Messengers? Ever since she was a cub, Tari had felt the pull, to go out into the world and bring the gift of messengers to those that needed. To take messages, love notes, well-wishes, and family updates across the land. If she could have stayed in her pride, she would have. But even though she needed to travel, her pride would always be her home.

"Go safely..." Tari finally said and turned to walk away, Hermes following her. She was done start-gazing for the night.

Lucretia was half tempted to leave them both after what Khuluma had said. If it wasn't for the fact that her parents would be majorly annoyed and her father would obviously go after Khuluma she turned away from the goddess, flicking her tail with annoyance and headed after Khuluma.

Sometimes she felt sorry for him, other times she didn't but right now she was angry at him. No she didn't know what it was like without family but she had met other gods who seemed to get on perfectly fine without family. Maybe he liked to moan a lot.

She managed to keep her temper at bay though. She followed at a distance and after a while she started training, it was a good distraction and soon she had calmed down enough to carry on her journey with Khuluma.
