Because they think with their muscles instead of their brains, considering anything where you don't tackle something [actually, anything they're not good at] useless and a waste of time. What they don't consider is how much the audience for football would go down if band dissapeared. What I'd tell them is "Go ahead, take away band, and ruin your show. Have fun with what audience you have left"

The student section at my university got pretty pissed off when athletics moved the band away from them, so I guess they like us.
I DO know that the football team and basketball team like us, they've told us.

We have that SAME EXACT problem.
I dunno what started it, but it seems that the football players hate us and many others act like we don't exist. It might just be that our school has a serious school spirit problem.
We've been booed by the football players at pep rallies before.
I'm still not totally sure why, but I do know that they had a... 3 year (or more) losing streak until one game last year.
I suppose its jealousy, stupidity, or they don't like our band director, or something.
As I always say, you can't stop the stupid. Just ignore it and keep doing what you do best. Your fellow band nerds will still love you. xD

For my school, almost all the athletics department hate the band, but the principle love us so we're not leaving biggrin . I think that they're just jelous. We have a whole lot more trophies than them. We had so many we had to throw them away this year cause we had no room.

well, most of the people at my school are involved in the music program, and those who aren't might have friends in music. so when there is someone who's stupid, there's usually at least about 10 band kids nearby to teach them.

we have the same problem, we have no uniforms, some of the younger band mambers that just joined band for the first time trash the percussion insterments, trash the band room and case each other with eaither there trombone or someone elses, heck we bearly even have a mradhing program because we have kids in there who there parents are making them join or have kept them in there to keep them out of trouble. And in my freshman year our teacher was cool and all, but he didn't care that much. At least last year and this coming year we have a teacher that is actually trying to get all of this stuff taken care of, and with our new principle we will have the eans to do so.

~Death_2_Life~ My band is neglected. We get one cramped yellow school bus for the entire marching band why'll the 15 cheerleaders get a charter bus. We get insturment older then the school and the football team gets new equipment every year. The Winter dance was flashier then the prom and we get stuck with uniforms older then my grandpa. And the there is the all to famous, "Band is gay!" And then entire school rejection. Plus dirty looks from the principle. Life at my school sucks. It's like that at my school too, but I think the administration are starting to realize we even HAVE a marching band. confused Football is so celebrated at my school that no one even cares about anything else like all the other sports team or the music department. I can never understand that because the band probably have more awards then all the major sports teams combined. At football games we're just kinda there, but there are quite a few people (generally older people) who come to the football games JUST to listen to the marching band. That makes me proud to do what I do 3nodding
