"I am very proud of them, especially Amalthea. Even- even though I know you're not supposed to play favorites," he said with an awkward chuckle, "She's had to deal with so much more than the others, I guess that's not really a favorite thing.."
He trailed off, deciding it was probably for the best.

Lela smiled at his chuckle. Supposedly, parents weren't to pick favorites. She tried to remember back to her own parents, if they had ever showed real favoritism between her and her brothers. She couldn't find any major events, though she was sure if she asked, her brothers - or at least one of them in particular - could probably give her a list of instances. She shook her head. "I think, since they're adults, it is only natural to get along with some of them more than the others." She truly did think that, she wasn't just saying it for Thoth's benefit. It made sense. Certain personalities clicked easier than others, and certain types of lions gave you a soft spot that others didn't.
She let her own thoughts trail off with his, and once again looked up at the moon. There was still a bit of loneliness in her eyes, but she was noticeably in a better mood now than she had been before. It felt good to have the company, even if for a short while. Maybe she just needed to take baby steps back into a social life. Or maybe she could have both? Have her solitary moments and have a few close friends and family? She wanted to find out, though she was admittedly a little worried about trying and failing. She definitely wanted to talk to Unyezi now, let him know how she'd been feeling. It was a relief to get some of this off her chest.

"I suppose I see more of Amalthea now, too," he said thoughtfully. The other girls had more specific jobs and probably more active social lives, Atlas was just confusing sometimes and Amalthea's job was basically to wait around to see who came around and asked for her help.. it was easy to find her.
Suddenly he realized that even if the awkward conversation hadn't taken terribly long, they were getting ready to settle into an awkward silence that could go for a while and he just didn't have the time for it.
"I should probably not forget why I was headed out this way," he said out loud, more to himself than the Lela- but then he looked to her with a smile, "Are you going to stay here or head back closer to home? I can walk with you, if you like."

Lela cast her glance back on Thoth, suddenly feeling guilty. She'd taken him away from his work! He must've just been stopping by, making sure everything was alright, maybe even thinking to bring her in closer to the others. And here she had completely broken down on him and used up valuable time. She nodded and regained composure. It was time to let him get back to work, and time for her to think for herself for a little while. Besides, she probably could use some time to digest everything that had been said. And a walk back towards the rest of the pride might due her some good.
"Yes. I should head back. I'll be wanting to see my brother soon." Her voice was far away at first, but she quickly brought it back. "That would be nice. Thank you, Thoth. You've been very kind tonight." She smiled warmly at him and stood, preparing for the walk ahead of them. Perhaps she should seek him out more often. Or, at the very least, take advantage of the next time they bumped into each other. She'd very much like to talk to him again.

"It was my pleasure," he said, smiling encouragingly at her, "Take care of yourself and have a good night." He pushed himself up to his feet and with one more nod, he turned off to go out and meet up with Badiri for their patrol that night.
