The shy girl was behaving a little oddly. Yue found herself bored all over again by the lack of verbal and physical stimulus. She guessed that the shy girl would be compliant with most things Yue might try on her, but not out of any kind of desire or joy; it was more likely the shy girl just wouldn't stand up for herself, given her reaction to Yue's behaviour. No fun there, then; Yue didn't want to pick on a scared little lamb. That's what she would call the girl, little lamb. Even if the girl had been to the Academy before, and Yue was new, that didn't intimidate her.

With no real joy, Yue addressed Kotone. "Hey... shy girl, you. Little lamb. The one I talked to outside the room. Something suddenly smell bad over here? I won't hurt you, unless you like that," Yue licked her lower lip and grinned, patting the seat that Kotone had just vacated. Yue herself didn't sit down, but rather leaned a little closer to the other girl, the one she hadn't spoken with, though she'd seen her in the halls.

When that stranger spoke, Yue was pleasantly surprised. Immediately, her heart was pumping, her brain working more furiously, churning up possibilities, responses, aspirations. Maybe cooking class wouldn't be so bad after all, if she could just hold on to this forming bond.

Here we go, Yue Lao thought to herself, her grin spreading. She pushed one hand against her hip and took an even more exaggerated pose, pursing her lips briefly before responding. "Would you look at that, a sweet thing with a backbone. I could like you, or you could be entertaining," Yue's half-slit eyes glittered in anticipation. Whether or not they became 'friends', this new girl had something to offer. Mainly, a relief for her boredom. Yue removed her bag from on top of Kotone's things, but didn't pay the girl much mind. No, Yue had tasted blood. It was thrilling. "I'm Yue Lao, better not forget it," Yue winked at Miki and held her hand out. "And what's your name, other new girl?"

Yue couldn't help but feel a bubble of anticipation. She traced, mentally, all the ways this new acquaintance could affect her. A friend was the least interesting, if most possible outcome; enemy, that could work well, their wills clashing fiercely; partners in crime was also an extremely appealing option. Yet, of course, Yue couldn't leave the shy girl out just yet. She was getting ahead of herself, but that was what Yue tended to do; she liked to look at a situation and see what she could get out of it. In this case, the aggressive new girl seemed like the prize.

No, the class hadn’t started yet, but still she wasn‘t sure of this. Perhaps the cleaning of the mess was taking more time than she thought it would, she pondered, or it could be something else was up or she had indeed missed something. Again, more abstract thoughts, no solid ones and this further fueled her frustration with herself as her brows furrowed somewhat and she pouted inwardly, suddenly filled with another wave of self-inflicted dejection.

Oh, but she was being addressed again and thus, she had now been twice distracted as though by a slight upward pull that kept her from sinking further into the abyss of depression her mind was forming among her thoughts. “Ah, um, no,” she stammered in her just audible enough voice, credit also given to a passably close proximity to the two girls, her eyes making her nervousness evident, “nothing smells bad.” She supposed she’d wait a bit more and with still unsure steps, returned to her seat. She wasn’t sure if she should join in the conversation the two girls were having across her table as she wasn’t sure if it would be intruding. And thus, for the moment, she ended up just overhearing them as her gaze alternated between them.

'GET YOUR BUTT GONE NOW GIRL BEFORE I WRAP THIS WALKING STICK AROUND YOUR THICK HEAD!'

Ahh. Nothing like feeling you are loved. That was her wake up call, the way the Blacksmith told her it was time for her to prove she was worth the food and shelter she was getting from him. Before she even woke up properly the door was slammed behind her and she was off.

He told her the academy would teach her some lessons in responsibility and concentration. She liked to believe it, nothing she did ever seemed good enough for the pushy old man she had been living with almost all her life.

Was it too much to ask to wake up to a warm breakfast? not a fire breathing monster.

She made her way to the academy humming a tune on the way. Excitement was bubbling in her belly. She wondered if there would be any cute guys there willing to help a lost new face. She chuckled and rubbed her hands together. Evil scheming reflecting in her eyes.

Before she knew it she was at the academy grounds. She had NO idea where to go however she did not mind. She was never the kind of person to stress over these things, she just let life take her where she was meant to go. If she was not scared the old man would kick her butt out onto the streets if she did not do what he said she doubted she would even be here.

"Hello?"

She called out walking with a hand on her hip, eyes scanning the new alien environment for any signs of life.

Soon enough someone came over to see to her and after a few moments of explaining she did not have a clue where she was she got some details of the room she was meant to be in. Good thing class had not started so there were people wondering the halls to guide her.

She followed the persons directions to a T. Looking around the corner into the classroom she was instructed to go to, making her way in and taking a breathe to let hings sink in. Man this was like school... here was her thinking it would be something .... I dont know .... mind blowing. It kind of brought her back to the days when the blacksmith would sit her down and lecture her about her duties and such, question her about what she had learned that day. It had that feel.

Her eyes drifted to the other people in the room, giving a small bow and smile. Before rising to give a peace sign with her hands, she was by no means shy.

"Haha, Konichiwa class mates."

Kotone found herself still processing things around her slowly. She turned her head to the side once more and held the front edges on both sides of her legs of the top of the stool she was seated on with her hands as she inclined her upper body a bit backwards to try and check again if classmates were working on something for class. It was no good, she gathered no new information from that attempt and she moved her upper body back forward, giving another try at turning her full attention back to keeping up with conversation of the two girls before her.

She wasn’t sure if the pat on her seat meant an invitation to join in their conversation. With her worry also vying for her attention she found her hands picking up the recipe to continue rereading it, but then changing her mind the next instant and putting it back down on the table, not sure if that would be rude as well. Lost, lost, lost. She felt that she hadn’t moved at all from square one. She felt apologetic to the to girls for her behavior, ashamed of herself. She briefly bit her lip as she moved her head to glance between the two of them again.

And then another stimulus entering the entirety her mind had been struggling from the very beginning to process was the arrival of another girl in the class. In response to the girl who had just bowed, smiled, and given a greeting upon coming inside of the room, her soft voice replied with a polite smile, “Ah, hello.” Her head then made gradual transitions between looking from each of the three girls and the recipe on her table, still trying to escape the tangles of her persistent insecurities in her mind.

Her eyes where set.

Suzu wondered over to the girl who had responded to her greeting, grabbing her hand and giving it a firm shake.

"Nice to meet you, my name is Suzu. I am new here so make sure I do not do anything stupid okay?"

She smiled and nodded examining her new class mate closer, her body language revealed a person who could be considered very shy. Thus Suzu thought they would get along more if she made a effort to break the ice and make her feel more comfortable.

She smiled and put her hands together in front of her.

"Aww your hair is so nice. I love the style its like a cute little panda bear."

She chuckled. Looking around at the other girls to make sure they did not feel like she was excluding them.

Licking a finger, Miki rubbed her lips, giving a tight smile. She was quite pleased how this was going. Standing to meet Yue, she gripped her hand. Handshakes were more a show of power to her than appeal, and Miki had power.

Stepping even closer, Miki leaned her head forward until she was sure Yue could feel her warm breath on her ear.

“The name’s Miki and I’m not so ‘sweet’ as you may think.” Her voice had a silky tone, slightly hushed at the closeness of the two. Their hands were still interlocked between them as she lingered a moment longer to leave the girl an everlasting impression.

Leaning back, she let their hands slide apart and sat back in the chair, crossing one leg over the other. She was chuckling at this little introduction, understanding the complete difference of pleasure they derived from it, but it was pleasure all the same. Miki could tell that this girl could hold her own under many circumstances.

Another voice entered her attention. Miki watched her signal them all ‘peace’ as she wandered through the door.

“Oh, another girl. It seems that men find no need for cooking anymore. Do they think that they’re simply too good for it? That it’s a job that should be left to women?” It was irritating to Miki how men could act like women needed to serve them. She would serve none but the ones she truly believed in. It was rather unfortunate that the Emperor happened to be a man, but she served him loyally still.

Smiling again, she looked up at the new girl, "Do not get me wrong, we're plenty happy to have you here. I am Miki."

The walls felt familiar to him, as did the air and floor constraining him within this building. Since his meeting with Jainyu his attendance at the Academy had been lacking. His duties at the tea shop after the unfortunate loss of his sister, and the many recoveries after grueling battles and confrontations only helped to delay his return.

Pulling from his packet a small scroll of paper he unrolled it and eyed the writing on it skeptically. He had been given the note by his father; it mentioned something of a herb he was to collect from a market-seller on his way him. It perturbed him as to why he was responsible and being sent out to collect something on the time he had taken off at the shop. His father had recognized his education and training as a more important feat than his duties serving the family business when there was someone else who could take his place without any loss of quality.

Nodding his head the collected lunarian shifted his weight and moved slowly down the hallway. People were flung here and there, all deeply in the midst of some conversation. His mind was not intrugised or interested in any amount of conversation that any group in particular recited. In fact he was attempting to keep his position and presence in the Academy hidden.

He felt like there were more students than normal crowding and buffeting the hall with noise and trouble. With a sweep across the hall and a free hand pulling hair out of his head he took a seat quietly on a bench in the hall. A few students were lining their way into classes and a few other groups were crowded inside, already dissecting their belongings and laying them out on the desks.

ZhongXian was not here for some class. He was waiting for a time where he could go do some sparring in training. His chances of meeting a fellow friend seemed to grow narrow as the seconds ticket on; instead of attempting to find one by eyeing the crowd, he leaned back with a look to the ceiling and sighed.

Although he looked not for conversation, he longed for it. After his fight with Shen and his escapade with Eiji and Huang, he felt drawn towards conversation and meeting other Lunarians. If there were others out there like Eiji or Huang, he wanted to pursue and make friends with them.

At all costs, he had to maintain his temper.

"Haha, men are not that bad! sure they can not cook but they have other uses."

She nodded turning to see another face which was new to her. She bowed her head once more, grabbing the hands of the other girl and shaking them like she had done the one before her.

"Plus its kind of a good thing they can not cook, it means we can take care of them and if they annoy us starve. However I admit I do wish there were SOME men in this class. Give us girls something to gossip about"

She laughed taking a seat and leaning back against it crossing her legs.

"My name is Suzu. I am the blacksmiths apprentice. As I said, first day here, don't really know what to expect."

Kotone’s eyes stopped from looking about and stared in bewilderment as the girl who had just arrived in the class was fixed in her gaze on her and was approaching her.

Upon her hand being taken and shaken, her arm just flailed along in the greeting in her dumbfounded surprise. She was responding poorly, she felt. However, she found no time to wallow in mentally scolding herself.

Then when the words of the girl addressing her managed to register in her mind, it pulled a light but bright smile from her as she stammered a gentle-sounding reply, still responding with much awe, “Ah, um, nice to meet you, as well, Miss Suzu. I’m Kotone. Ah, um, okay.” A slight blush had crept up to her cheek in her nervousness and she wasn’t sure she had spoken audibly.

“Ah, um,“ upon receiving a compliment about her hair, her cheeks reddened a bit more as she was taken a back, not knowing how to reply in the instant after as she had babbled the two words of nonsense before saying, “thank you.”

She was at a loss for words yet again and thus remained silent as she listened. Miki and..Yue Lao. Her mind took in the other girl’s name when it was given in the conversation being had with Suzu and then recalled Yue Lao's name when given earlier to Miki. She looked from each of the three girls again with a soft, shy smile.
PostPosted: Tue Aug 03, 2010 12:28 pm

Yue almost began laughing. She held it in, though, and before Miki had a chance to remove her hand, Yue brushed her lips across Miki's knuckles, teasing her, and gave a bow when Miki let their hands slide apart. "Sweet to taste; as sweet as I know, not think, sugar," Yue's voice matched Miki's in its hushed tone, but hers had a little iron beneath it. As much as Yue Lao could try to hide her rougher side, it shone through even at the mildest times. She couldn't help but impress upon this other fierce girl that she was a force to be reckoned with. Yue had to look away briefly, lest she try to start something, because she suddenly craved blood. It would be fun to shed it, just a couple drops; Miki's, not hers, though she would be willing to trade.

The new girl seemed to get along better with Kotone than she herself had. It was fascinating. "Maybe you're more her type, Suzu," Yue smiled, glittering in her own way. She spoke her mind too much, as if she were constantly drunk. Time to test the new girl for possible strengths and usefulness. Yue strode towards her, breaking the short distance, and stood with her hips to their full advantage, one hand against her left hip, her weight on her left foot. She pursed her lips, as she was so like to do, and took another step forward. "You, Suzu, you seem to like the little lamb. Could I break you, I wonder?" Yue smiled again, almost as if she'd just hit on Suzu. Yue hardly lingered, even for a response; she returned back to the table, to Miki, and sat on the table next to her, brushing her calf against Miki's body.

"I don't care who the cooking gets left to, the women or the men; all I know is I don't really want to do it," Yue mumbled, exhaling her frustration. It was why she was being so reckless in the class. Yue was quick-witted and quick-tongued. Being trapped somewhere she was bored resulted in both of those things being used as freely as she chose. Discipline was something she could only look forward to. At least it would break some of the monotony. "Hey," Yue perked up, "Miki, baby, if we work with fire, you wanna be my partner?" Yue wiggled her eyebrows suggestively and giggled. To provoke Miki, or to incite further bad behaviour: either seemed extremely appealing to Yue just at that moment. Behind that obvious excitement and urge to start trouble, Yue was calculating: Miki could still be a friend, enemy or partner in crime; Little lamb Kotone was still too shy, but might have a future connection with Suzu, the new girl. And Suzu... well, Yue would have to wait to learn more about that. She'd only just arrived. For now, Yue found it endearing that Miki felt so frustrated at men.

Then Suzu opened her mouth again, and Yue found out just how different they were. She arched a brow. "Hey, Miki, d'you think we oughta take care of the men?" Yue giggled and nudged Miki, a little over the top, exaggerated. "No offense, sweet pea," Yue addressed Suzu, "But I'd serve myself burnt food every day rather than hinge my affections on cooking or not cooking," Yue blew Suzu a kiss and nudged Miki with her calf again. If she was lucky, maybe she could start a fight, or at least make some enemies.

"Kotone? thats a really nice name. No problem do not thank a person for being honest."

She smiled, leaning her elbow on the desk and resting her arm against her chin against her hand. She noticed the small blush on the girls face. She was really cute. This was not so bad, plenty of people to chat to, however... she wished they were doing something. She was not a person who liked to sit down for a long period of time. Well any period of time really. Maybe the fact she was a little nervous in this new environment meant she was even more keen to get started on something. She was not shy, however not knowing what to expect and waiting to be told just did not sit well with her.

"Please just call me Suzu. I have never been called Miss in my life."

She felt in some way honored by how she was addressed yet at the same time she did not want formalities. She wanted to make some friends. Katone might be shy, however something told Suzu she was a nice person. She was glad.

"So what are we doing today? does anyone know?"

She asked wanting to get hands on right away.

Suzu's eyes widened as the other girl spoke to her, the one she did not know the name off. Something just felt uncomfortable. Like she was being... seduced? by a women. She was crazy. She read the other girl wrong she was sure. Break her?

"Erm. Break me? I don't think I understood you correctly. What do you mean?"

She asked looking a little confused, listening as the girl spoke some more. She seemed to be acting a little odd. Like what she said was strange.

"Of cause a woman's place is to care for her husband and family. Its not all that strange its just our calling. I actually like the thought of it to be honest. I mean to take care of someone you love. For them to come home to a warm meal and a clean home. Its just how its done and what any girl could dream for really. To have that responsibility and to be cherished for it."

Did she just have a kiss blown at her? maybe she did not read the girl wrong. Why was she acting like that towards another women? it was.... unnatural...

Miki did not find the erratic behavior of Yue alluring in the least. She did not especially like the concept of men being better than women, but at least she found them relatively attractive. They were useful at times, so long as their attitudes didn’t get in the way.

“I am not your baby, but I do enjoy playing with fire.” Miki examined her fingertips as though she could see a flame lit above each nail. Fire represented power. Simply watching it twisting in the dark delighted her. Fire was just so destructive and yet elegant, something for those who desired strength to admire.

“Women should not be placed under men. It is not their role to serve. If one should ever possibly find love, it should be an equal relationship, not servant and master.” Miki was starting to lose respect for Suzu. She had been absolutely fine with her initially, but she could not condone anyone who would have women be considered less than men.

“And you, Yue. What the heck is up with the kissing and crap?” Miki was a bit irritated now, her pleasant feelings slowly fading to the background. This was a sensitive topic to her.

“Um, okay, Suzu,” Kotone lightly smiled just a bit more widely, still for the most part feeling nervous.

Upon Suzu’s question regarding what was to be done today in class, Kotone felt ashamed that she, too, despite not being new, was feeling clueless of what was happening today. Her shame was what kept her silent now and her hands gripped the edges of her seat again on her left and right sides as she tried to look toward other classmates from where she sat once more if they were cooking and such. She turned her attention back to the three girls when she had observed no change as the other students looked to be only conversing in their own formed groups.

Break you, Yue Lao had said. The two words suddenly brought to mind the idea of combat, reminding her of her goal to improve her skills in it, though she still doubted that her thoughts‘ interpretation of what Yue Lao meant by the words was correct. But sadly this was no wonder since Kotone questioned her comprehension quite often. However, she couldn‘t think of what else it may mean at the moment and couldn‘t help feeling that she‘d come across the saying before but was currently forgetting. Kotone had a tugging notion that she was missing things as she was comprehending Yue Lao’s words, that perhaps Yue Lao’s way with words was part of a custom she was unfamiliar with. She also considered the likelihood that she still wasn’t fully here in the class mentally and was finding she was continually disappointing today. She often found herself lacking, but today she found her behavior especially disappointing.

Taking in as much about the topic being discussed about men that her anxious state would allow, Kotone tried to organize her thoughts to actually chip in to the conversation. But, still she was unable to deliver any words from the jumbling of thoughts in her mind upon her attempt.

"Whoever said women where under men? I simply stated men and women have different responsibilities. As I said I am the blacksmiths apprentice, my work is a dominated male field so by that I am sure you can understand that I think women can do a man’s work. I just believe a woman should take care of her man. That is all."

Suzu looked at Miki like she has said something alien, like she had said the sky was green or some nonsense. It might be because Suzu was raised by a old man but she had old fashioned views on relationships. A man’s job was to protect his family and take on the responsibilities of the head. The women's role was to make sure he was taken care for. It was just how things worked in her mind. What she had always being told. She did not feel like it was belittling women, in fact she wanted to fill her role. To have someone to love and care for.

Suzu was a futurist she was all about moving forward and progressing. However she saw nothing wrong with how relationships were. Suzu worked and she could take care of herself. However to have someone to look out for her was a appealing thought. She one day wanted to get married and have the stereotypical relationship that people talked about. She always wanted to smith and invent. However she did not understand why she could not do that and have the dream family life. If you loved someone, why would you not want to care for them?

Some people might see what she thought as odd. However to her anything else would be just as absurd in her ears. Men and women where equal. However they had their roles. As long as they filled them they could do whatever they wanted on top of them. Suzu was going to be a smith and the perfect house wife. It’s just how she was raised.

She saw Miki's attitude turning sour, so instead of fueling said fire she was ready to mark the two girls as strange and pay more attention to Kotone. Who was quiet? She turned to her and smiled.

"I cook for my master all the time. Please could I work with you? it could be fun."

She laughed tilting her head.

"Or if you want to wait for class to start maybe you could do my hair? I just love how yours is, maybe you could come up with something just as unique for me, get to know each other. Like, what are your hobbies?"

She asked putting her hand on Kotones once more.

"I really want to be friends."

"Awh, don't be like that," Yue smiled, tilting her head to the side, in response to being told that Miki was not her baby. Yue didn't hop off the table, even though Miki became increasingly more agitated. She grinned wildly. "Why, wanna fight over it? Got a problem with me, Mi-ki?" Yue pouted, her eyes glossed over. "Just being affectionate, not-baby. It wouldn't hurt you to be a little nicer, now would it?" Yue Lao started to swing her legs idly, no longer brushing into Miki, but clearly pumped with self-satisfaction. She beamed like a cat who'd gotten the last piece of tuna from a forbidden plate.

"What do I mean by 'break you', Suzu? Well, why don't we find out? Plenty of time for that story to unravel." Yue held out her hands, almost in fists, using her extended index fingers to mimic something unravelling. "In the mean time, it doesn't matter much to me what boys think," Yue added, though she thought to herself, Or what girls think; you're all the same. "I think if it were up to me, my role wouldn't be cooking, cleaning, anything like that; I'd love to get bloodied up, my own or my opponent's, to read tactical plans, to support the Emperor as best I could. Basically, I just wanna fight someone, you know?" Yue Lao stretched and hopped off the desk. She'd been sitting too long. She began to pace back and forth, eyeing Kotone, Miki and Suzu like she was assessing their likelihood as prey. Yue was extremely excited that she might actually be able to provoke Miki into being her enemy. Why not? Friends weren't nearly as thrilling.

"For a black smith, you seem a little soft, sweetpea," Yue stopped in front of Miki and waggled her finger. Yue Lao had the kind of grin that people just wanted to punch off her. It seemed like Suzu was really set in her ways, and there would never be any changing that, however mortifying Yue thought it was. Although Miki and Yue might clash severely, she felt closer to Miki than Suzu or Kotone.

"Awh, little lamb, looks like sweetpea has taken a liking to you; better for me, better for you; I really think I would break either or both of you with prolonged use. Shame, shame. Miki here, I think she'd stand the test," Yue Lao didn't sit in a chair, even this time, but she did sit above the chair she would have taken, still on the desk, her bag slung on the floor. "Isn't that right, Miki?"

Yue was almost completely disinterested in Kotone and Suzu, now, though somehow the shy girl was a toy to be unlocked, whereas Suzu seemed a little alien. Yue hoped class would start soon so she wouldn't have to listen to Suzu gossip; it made her gag reflex kick in.
