Demeter stepped forward toward him hoping to meet him head on and raised back onto her paws, wobbling uneasily in the soft mud beneath her paws.
"Bring it on!" She jeers and wobbles her paws swaying to keep her balance. Something like a lion game of chicken. The lioness tried to hold her ground chest still hitching.

Enzi was surprised by the response he got, not quite prepared to be the only one moving- so he skidded himself to a stop, not longer barreling right at Demeter- but running shoulder first into her, still aiming to knock her over.
"Come on!"
Kafara watched as Demeter posed, and as Enzi came up and rammed into her she ducked out from behind Demeter and pounced onto her mate, aiming to throw him off balance while he was on the move in the slippery mud and ultimately declare victory. Whether or not it was two against one.

Demeter tottered at his final advance and then fell backwards as his shoulder came into contact with her chest. She splashed into the shallow water, a cloud of mud spurred up around her looking like she melted into the water.
"Ooof! Enzi!" She mumbled.
She coughed a laugh at Kafara again getting the upper hand on her mate.
"Girls rule!" she cheered hoping that Kafara would end the battle.

Enzi was caught off guard as suddenly Kafara was lunging at him and he toppled over, now thoroughly soaked and covered in his fair share of mud. He sputtered, glaring up at Kafara for a moment- and then he started to laugh.
Kafara was surprised as she and Enzi fell, but she managed to keep her balance and pushed down on his chest with her two paws, standing over him triumphantly. She wouldn't take her eyes off him, even as Demeter cheered and he started to laugh.
"See how much easier it would have been if you just got in the water with me?" she asked, joining in the laughing.

If Demeter really knew social cues she might see this one as a cue for a private moment...however Demeter was a bit awkward when it came to others, displayed by her ease in jumping into their play argument.
She let out an interruptive cough and started to right herself in the water. She was feeling a bit sore from all of the mock battling.
"We'd probably all be a lot dryer," Demeter offered, "I think this is enough for me." She added quickly, "Not that I am backing down...you're still the sissy."
"Besides..Anya said she wanted to hang out."

"Yes," Enzi said, pausing his laughter long enough to roll his eyes, he was just starting to work on squirming free when Demeter distracted him with a cough-- and he looked over at her.
"I'll get you next time!" he said, starting to squirm his way to freedom again. And once he was free, there wasn't much he could do now except sit up and glare at Demeter as she excused herself.
Kafara intended to keep him in the water a little longer-- until Demeter distracted her as well. She was smiling, though, not glaring. Once Enzi was upright again, she nodded to Demeter.
"Alright," she said, "Thanks for the help."
She looked over at Enzi again, shaking her head and giving him another good shove.

"You're on, brother," Demeter ignored the glare and nodded back to Kafara. She shifted a sore worked muscle in her shoulder and headed toward home, leaving the lovebirds to themselves.
Anya would probably be upset that she'd missed out on the immature shenanigans and Demeter intended to gloat that she and Kafara had bested Enzi.

Enzi didn't get a chance to say anything back to Demeter, caught off guard yet again, he nearly fell back into the water but he steadied himself just in time. His glare shifted over to Kafara. Grinning mischievously, he hopped up to his feet and nuzzled her-- transferring some of the mud from his side and mane onto her.
Kafara, chuckling to herself about Enzi's near fall, looked back and murmured a goodbye at Demeter-- failing to notice Enzi's new attack strategy until it was too late.
"Enzi!"
She sighed, headbutting him affectionately. It was nice to just have fun, but now they both needed a bath.
