Nodding her head Anila unwrapped her wings from her body so she could move down the mountain path. I would be grateful for the escort; I think my tail is going to turn into an icicle up here. Anila was immediately embarrassed, she hadn’t meant to say that last part out loud. Umm… you mentioned your mother and your brother’s being part of the Kousetsu tribe, exactly what kind of tribe is that? I have never heard of it. Anila didn’t really know anything about any tribe, but she didn’t want to admit that to Marcus. She probably already seemed ridiculous after crash landing on him when ‘Phims are supposed to be foxes that can fly. Still it was nice of him to offer to walk her down the path since she didn’t know the way.
Marcus was certainly a chivalrous fox Anila thought. After all here he was a complete stranger yet she felt relaxed around him when she was certain she would have been uncomfortable around any other fox. The feeling of having little ‘Phims flying around her insides hadn’t gone away since it started, if anything it only seemed to be getting stronger.

Marcus allowed a chuckle to escape, aware that it was his first in a while. As sad as it may sound, even in his own head, Marcus didn't laugh very often. Shaking off the shock that followed his slight burst of laughter, Marcus focused back on Anila to answer her question. "Kousetsu is a tribe devoted to the snow," he replied shortly. "Not too much to say about it, I guess. I haven't actually been there, anyways." Marcus just shrugged.

Anila’s eyes widened. Had Marcus just laughed? The sounds was very pleasant to her ears. The information he said about the tribe; although not much, surprised her.A tribe that was devoted to snow! No wonder Marcus didn’t have any problem with the cold air up on the mountain; his mother was a snow fox! So many questions nagged at Anila she could hardly focus on just one.
Anila tripped a smidgen and spread her wings partially to help steady herself. Why don’t you visit your mother and brothers? Anila mused this more to herself than to Marcus but it came out anyway.

"We're not a very close family," Marcus replied as he avoided the rock Anila had tripped on. "My parents aren't together, and I'm pretty sure my mother has another set of kids. BCRs still, I think." He liked his brothers and parents well enough, but didn't exactly miss their company. "I get together with my brother Xavier on occassion," he offered. He didn't really want Anila thinking that he hated being around others.

Listening quitely Anila thought carefully over Marcus's comments. "oh I see, I don't really have any family that's related to me so I don't really know what it's like to have a brother or a sister. I don't even have a fox that I consider as a parent either. It's good that you get along with your brother. Anila couldn't help but smile at the thought of Marcus laughing and playing together with a brother as a kit. Anila decided that it was time to try and be bold. She had one question that had bugging her for quite some time and decided that it was time to bring it up, even though it was what she considered a personal matter.Well since I know about your parents and siblings, what about your mate? Do you have one? Anila's voice sounded quite rushed even though she meant it to come out strong and solid.

Marcus silently continued down the path as Anila spoke; he supposed it wasn't too uncommon for foxes to grow up without families. He had been staring in front of him until he heard the 'Phim's question. His gaze turned to her, examining her and the way she had posed the question. At first it seemed as though she assumed he already had one, before actually asking. The words were spoken quickly, and she seemed a little nervous about asking. After a few moments of silence, Marcus shook his head. "I don't have a mate," he answered. "Haven't really met many other foxes." He shrugged it off.
"And you? Surely a beautiful and charming 'Phim like yourself as met someone special by now." Marcus offered Anila a small grin. He never normally spoke and acted this way, but then Marcus was almost always guarded. He hadn't really thrown caution to the wind since he was a kit.

Anila tried hard to mask her shock. Marcus didn’t have a mate? He was so kind, strong, and confident in his actions. It seemed impossible that he wouldn’t have had a beautiful mate by now.
She shifted her wings as she impulsively ducked her head in embarrassment to his counter question. Charming? Beautiful? These descriptions didn’t really apply to her. She really hoped that Marcus wasn’t just teasing her. N-no I don’t have a mate. Anila liked the way Marcus smiled although she wished her stomach wouldn’t feel quite so fluttery every time he looked at her. Your quite something else you know that? Most people would call me a laughing stock of a ‘Phim not charming or b-beuatiful. Anila flicked her tail as if to emphasize this statement.

"Laughing stock?" Marcus repeated, confused. "Why would anyone call you that?" There didn't seem to be anything wrong with her. Maybe minus the fact that she wasn't used to flying, hence why they had met in the first place. The chances were high that she could get used to flying again, though, so that didn't seem likely.

Anila hung her head in shame at the memory of the insults the orange vixen Rynn had hurled at her time and time again when their owner wasn't around. I'm not brave, I can't hold a conversation with most foxes because I get scared that I'll mess up. I can't fly so I might as well not even be considered a 'Phim at all. Not to mention part of my fur looks odd with the rest of me so I look funny to top it off. Anila self consciously put a paw to her her ears, both of which held a delicate pinkish-purple lace work swirl pattern on them. Her eyes brimmed with tears that she wanted to shed but didn't want Marcus to see. Her throat felt hot and constricted, and her heart felt as if it where made of lead sinking in her chest.
She knew that the opinion of Rynn shouldn't matter all that much, but Rynn of one of the few foxes she knew so no matter how often she told herself not to Anila listened to Rynn's words and felt their sting. Trying to hide her grief from Marcus she tried to smile at him. All that came out though was a twisted grimace.

Marcus listened quietly to the insults Anila threw out about herself, no doubt heard from another fox. She fell silent and seemed about to cry. As she moved to cover her ears with her paws, Marcus closed the distance between them and nudged her paws away. Staring at the swirling patterns, he whispered quite descisively, "I like them." And with that, he gave her a quick kiss.

Opening and closing her mouth a few times Anila tried very hard to grab a word, any word, from her vocabulary. I-I ah.. uh.. Anila's fur couldn't even hide her blush as it cover her cheeks. T-thank you. I-I don't know what to say. Anila felt dizzy. Surely this wasn't happening, had Marcus just said he liked her odd little swirls? He had just kissed her? She took a step back and felt off balance so she spread her wings to help stabilize herself. Why.. What promoted that.. action? Anila couldn't make herself say the word kiss as if that would make what had happened more real.

Marcus saw that she was stunned, and took a step back as she stretched her wings. He wondered if he had gone too far. But she had said thank you. Maybe she was just surprised, and not unhappy that he had kissed her. He shrugged at her question about the kiss. "Just felt right, I guess," he replied. "I apologize if I went too far. I can leave you alone now, if you want..." He began to turn around and slowly continue back down the mountain. He wasn't sure if she would call out to him, or follow him, that was up to Anila.

There were a lot of things that Anila wasn't sure of in life, but one thing was for certain she didn't want to leave Marcus alone. T-too far. Ah no... I don't think you went yo far. Her tone was quite but she had a feeling that the breeze carried her words to Marcus. Anila followed him down the trail. Her lips tingled where his had met hers. She tried to pull some composer though because she felt stupid for thanking him for kissing her. I wasn't thanking him for kissing me only for complimenting my coat. That's it! Nothing more. She kept repeating those thoughts to herself trying to get rid of her blush.

Marcus slowed down when he heard her, but continued down the path. She didn't catch up to him, just walked a little beind. He didn't know what to do or think, so he just walked to the bottom of the mountain in silence.
Reaching level ground, Marcus turned back to Anila. He didn't say anything; didn't know what to say. He merely looked at her, hoping she would say something soon. He wasn't as cool and collected as before, Marcus was just confused. He knew what he could be feeling, but was that what this was? And why? They hardly knew each other. Marcus wasn't one for hasty descisions.

Anila saw Marcus looking at her. Her insides felt so warm she thought she must be melting. She didn't know what to say and she wasn't sure she actually could speak if she tried. After staring at Marcus for what what have been a few minutes Anila realized how rude she must seem for simply staring at the beautiful white fox. After clearing her throat self-consciously Anila tried to get some dialog going. S-so ah.. mm... what do you do for fun exactly Marcus?
