"Ah, but lies can protect the truth, and shield those not ready to face such an ugly or beautiful truth," he said smoothly, amused at this conversation. Discussing truths and lies had not been his intended discussion with the female, but it seemed to be keeping her interest on him, and allowing him to learn more of her...morals.
He was surprised, but did not let it show, as she placed her paw atop of his. "My shield, sweet priestess?" He offered her a smile. "I have no shield."

She laughed lightly, not at him, but morley at what he'd spoken, "We all have them, be it the unity of the pride, or something else more meaningful to ourselves, we all have something." She said with a nod.
She glanced down to her paw, atop of his, the contrasting colors spoke so loudly, she wondered if he could see it as well.

Kerusey frowned inwardly. What she said was the truth, that everyone had shields, but not all of them were in defense of self, some were merely a...disguise. "Then what is your shield, if you don't mind my asking?" He asked, knowing she probably would mind, but if she asked him for his shield then should not he be allowed to ask for hers?
He followed her gaze to their paws, her pale coat standing out rather blatantly against his darker pelt. How odd. He supposed her lighter coat made her more spiritual, which meant she was a better choice then someone as equally dark as himself, in more ways then one.

"I suppose it would be my priesthood..because without being a priestess..then many would just look upon my ways as being weak, and easy prey.." she replied with a simple shrug, still many did think her easy prey which was their own short-sightedness, because to be who she was, she had to be made of tougher stuff than many thought her to be.
She wiggled her toes lightly, her pale colors helped her stay connected to her spiritual believes and ways, and many believed her ivory paws kept her walking between the worlds, and sometimes she agreed, but she wondered now, what he thought. "What do you think, of one such as me holding such a postion in our pride?"

Kerusey listened to her words, and most would have softened at the honest declaration, but he was barely stifling a smirk. She was weak, and even she knew it. Although soft and sweet, she seemed to have quite a lot of knowledge and strength behind her sweetness. She was a good choice, he decided.
"I think that you would not have been allowed to be a priestess if you were not fit for the job," he remarked casually, his voice honey sweet. "It is not my place to question your spirituality, nor should others question your strength."

She watched him closely, his tone was so sweet it would have swooned most females into believing everything he said, but she wasn't a mere female.
"Thank you, that gives me confidence." She bowed her head, "To have one such as yourself believe in me." she flicked her tail lightly, "Though I should return to my duties, they do keep me a busy lady." she smiled, but she wasn't sure she could take much more of his, she wanted to heal him so badly.

Kerusey inclined his head, his face a kind mask but hollow beyond the kind expression. "Of course, sweet priestess," Kerusey said smoothly when she mentioned returning to her duties. "The pride must be missing your spiritual imput."
He wanted to laugh at his own words, but he stiffled it. Laughter and plans would come after she had left, for now, it was the time of sweet words and 'caring' eyes - at least until she was far enough from view to not see the depth of his emotions. He was unaware of how much she had seen already.
"It has been a pleasure to converse with you," he told her, inclining his head respectfully to her again - not a bow, but a simple nod.
