Godlings were a very jumpy lot, especially when they were startled. "I didn't mean to startle you." She moved next to him, leaning against the side of the ship. "And thanks." She meant it, the thanks, she didn't really want to be alone at the moment, and she supposed that she was being a little selfish, intruding on him right now, but when the bright rainbow one came over, she didn't feel quite so bad. At least she had been quiet.
He was obviously an older player, and she frowned at him when he frowned at her. "The name is Padma." she responded, her voice flat. She didn't hold his attitude against him, not at the moment, they were all on edge.

For the second time that night, the poor boy nearly had a heart attack. He gave a startled yelp as Quinn ruffled his hair, flailing comically as he sputtered a few German exclamations of surprise. He quickly finger combed his hair into order, turning and looking up the other godling, managing a smile- albeit a somewhat neurotic and mildly unnerving one. The kid looked like hell...almost as bad as when he first came to stay with Quinn. But at least he was smiling. That was...something?
"Ah, Mr. Q'vinn! I saw you over zhere earlier but I did not vant to pester you...I'm glad you're talking to me, zhough!" he said, seeming almost pathetically puppy-like in his adoration of the other godling's attention. He blinked and looked over to the girl when she was indicated. "Oh she...ve did not haf a chance to become properly introduced." he said. He stuck his hand out toward the girl, still smiling that awkward Stepford smile as she offered her name. "Good evening, Padma...my name is Faylen Berndt. It is nice to meet you. Zhis is my friend, Mr. Q'vinn. It is good to meet other players." he said, seeming a bit formal (though inwardly wincing all the way as his accent chewed up the phonemes of certain words). But then...Mother always said to be nice to girls...

Writ pulled a travel sized bottle from one of the boxes he carried and kicked it over Vale's direction. He hoped that Kitty would get the hint. His attention shifted over to the boy again. He looked relatively normal, sans the whole aura that all godlings gave off. He wasn't quite sure who this boy was; it was the nickname that set the right memory off.
Writ took a shot in the dark, "Kayla? Really? Is that you? Man, the last time I remembered you, you were-" Writ paused, trying to recall.
"Geez."

"Yeah. I'm Q'vinn." He smirked. "You have several arms." He blinked, as if he was just noticing it.
"Weird." He shrugged. "But I guess we're all weird." He pointedly did not shake her hand like Faylen did.
Even a crisis didn't make him like women any more.
"He's kind of like my little brother. Who is probably more like my age, anyway. My real age." He felt really tall, all of a sudden.
"Yeah, Faylen spends most of his time being all mopey. I tell him to cheer up, but you know, I think it's just in his nature." He explained cheerfully as he messed Faylen's hair up again. "And it is good to meet other players. Get yourself a nice girlfriend, or something, right?" He held back a giggle.
Girlfriend.
Riiiiight.

Oh good, boats. She always did hate water. The girl had already been through the outright grueling task of convincing her parents that their only two choices were to either accept that Sarah was a player in a Battle Royale of gods and come with her to Central, or die in a horrific nuclear explosion. Thankfully, she didn’t have to drag them as long as they didn’t really have to talk to anyone else, so here the three were—toting the little items they had decided to keep. Sarah herself looked almost frozen as they approached the boats, realizing that Bastet had probably gifted her with a clichéd fear of water. “Ugh…” She let out a groan, dragging each step as her and her parents climbed aboard. This wasn’t going to end well.

He was kind of adorable, in that lost puppy sort of way, and Padma couldn't help but smile at him. She shook his hand when he offered. "I'm pleased to meet you as well. It is nice to know who else is playing."
She giggled, when the older boy mentioned that she had extra arms. "Nope, you're just imagining them." she teased, trying to keep her mind off everything that was going on. "It's nice to meet you too, Quinn." With the mention that his real age was about Faylen's and hers, he was far less intimidating, at least for the moment.
It was nice that Faylen had someone, even if it wasn't by blood, and she could tell that the older boy did care for him, in his own way. "Right..."

He craned his neck up to look at Quinn again after Padma responded to his introduction. Real age? He was puzzled as to what that meant since he had thus far not figured out that older players were just players that had been given the Miracle-Gro treatment by their gods. He had always assumed some gods simply picked older kids for whatever tactical reason- that they were bigger and stronger or whatever. Oh, maybe it was a joking remark referring to immaturity? Either way, he didn't brood too much on it since the girlfriend remark promptly made his face turn a ridiculous red.
"Girfriend? No vay!" he stammered. "You haf to kiss zhem!" As mentioned before, his only expirience with kiss girls was being shoved down on the playground, sat on, and covered with lip-color. It was not a pleasant expirience and if he could avoid it for the rest of his life, he would.

Keahi took note that one of the younger boys seemed very skittish. And also seemed to be under the protection of that gay feathery douche that he'd run into once. That had been a bit ago, though not as long ago as getting beat up by one of the other players on the boat.
One of the girls had four arms. ... That was slightly awesome. Okay, it was really awesome. Imagine what all you could do with four arms! That had to come in handy a bit with fighting... A groan behind him caught Keahi's attention and he turned to see Sarah looking rather uncomfortable.
Faylen's comment on having to kiss girlfriends made the pudgy boy snort loudly. Oh, c'mon.

Dingdingding. Writ remembered.
"Yeah." Kyle agreed with the sentiment, after a quick glance toward his parents to make sure they hadn't overheard. "I go by Kyle now."
He smiled lamely, trying to make light of that particular elephant on the boat, and changed topics. "Is this your family?" sh- he asked, nodding to Leroy and Alison, trying not to look as awkward as he felt.

"True. And we all know you're gonna grow up and want to kiss boys." He laughed and smirked at the Padma's comment. Maybe she was cooler than the average female.
"I don't blame you. I'm not into kissing girls, either." He took his arm off of Faylen and set Sydni down to go pester Vale again. He smiled at Padma.
"I'm going to go see who else is here." He turned and glanced again at fat turtle boy.
"Hey, Fat Turtle boy!" He waved.
There, acknowledged, moving on.
He noticed Writ talking to some little boy. He hadn't met this kid before, he didn't think. He headed over to Writ and did his best to hold his hand.
"Writty, darling, who is this?"

Padma shrugged noncommittally. He didn't really need to know her person kissing choices; not that she had any at the moment.
She turned to look at the boy who had snorted, having apparently found some sort of amusement in their conversation. "Hey." she called over. "You're welcome to join us." Well, maybe he was, and she looked over at Faylen. "If you don't mind."
She didn't want to invite anyone over without the other boys permission, he was far too skittish for that, although he was a little better now after Quinn had come over.

He sputtered and looked vaguely distressed at Quinn's further comments. "I...it is not like zhat either! I...I don't vant to kiss anyv'one!" The human mouth was full of germs anyways. In the back of his mind, Ayida Weddo was chuckling warmly. He nodded as Quinn left, waving halfheartedly. He was glad the older godling had bothered with him for even a few short moments, though. God, he was like a sad little puppydog.
His mood somewhat buoyed by the distraction, he turned back to Padma. "It...it is really not like zhat... he just does not understand, I am a good boy, really. I just don't like kissing." he mumbled awkwardly in his defense. He looked to the other boy when he was indicated. He...seemed okay? "I vell...I guess so?" he said.
He didn't like boys as much as girls. Males made him more nervous. They played rough and liked getting dirty, two things Faylen did not like. Still, he nodded all the same. He knew what it was like to be excluded and teased and he frowned a bit at Quinn's back for the 'fat turtle boy' remark. It wasn't very nice. Still...maybe more people would help him think less. He could slowly feel his mood biting at his ankles and trying to drag him back down. He nervously scratched the back of his hand to vent nervous energy, looking to the boy. "Ja, you can come over here." he said. It was just a small group. He could do small groups. It was the big ones that got him so stressed he could barely talk.

Writ nearly jumped out of his skin when Quinn snuck up behind him. He looked behind him and gave Quinn a quick wave.
"Hey Quinn." Writ said flatly, tactfully withdrawing his hand from his.
"Writ" Alison piped up, "who are these people?"
Writ looked at Quinn, and then at Kyle, well, if there was any player to introduce to his parents first, Kyla- Well, Kyle, looked relatively normal. And Quinn wasn't that far from the hipsters that populated the cafe.
"Uhh, this is Quinn" Writ cocked his head back towards birdy boi, "And this is Kyle." Writ nodded to the girl boy.
Awkward.
"Quinn, Kyle, my parents."
Writ pulled out a small, neon colored bottle of liquor out of his box and handed it over to Quinn, "Go get drunk with Vale, will ya?"

Keahi waved back to Quinn. "Featherduster," he acknowledged with a grin. As Quinn left and Faylen gave a tentative okay, Keahi moved forward to join the group. "Keahi," he said in way of greeting. "So you two been playing long?" What else were they going to talk about. They had one thing in common and that thing was why they were on the boat to begin with. So, might as well talk about it.

Padma giggled. "It's alright. You don't have to kiss anybody. I promise I won't tell." She grinned. "He's very bright. How did you meet him?" She was just a little curious...
She nodded when he said that the other boy could join them, even though he seemed a little unsure. "I think we're all allies at the moment," she said, attempting to be reasurring, "and even if someone wanted to cause trouble, I don't think the boat keeper would let them." She shrugged, and changed the subject. "Do you like chocolate?"
"Nice to meet you Keahi." she said. "I'm Padma and this is Faylen. I've been playing for a while, I suppose, though I haven't taken a very active roll. What about you?"
