Rahim didn't mind how long it took to get to the watering hole and nearby falls. He was in no rush, had no where to go, nobody to see, so it made little difference to him. Besides, the longer it took, the longer he was able to spend time with the pale coated female! And the longer he was around her, the better he'd be able to come up with a way to bring her home.

Walking side by side, Rahim chuckled lightly as she questioned the term. He gave a small shake of his head, red eyes bright with a sense of fondness as he thought of his home. "Ah. . . Hopefully the lady will forgive me, it's just a term I'm accustomed to using on a daily basis. Banu is what the males in the pride refer to most females as. It's both a position within the pride, as well as a sort of rank and title. Some females are called kajira instead, but I wouldn't peg you for one of them. You're far too pleasant company, after all." It was true. Even if Ly protested or threw a tantrum upon realizing she was stuck as his, he doubted she'd become such a problem to be titled a kajira. They were females who were truly the epitome of being little more than currency, and were often and frequently traded and also those granted the most amount of trouble.

He just couldn't see Ly as being the sort to make such a thing. Still, he wasn't entirely sure he wanted to admit entirely what his home life was like. But he could at least romanticize the idea. "Males, such as myself, are called Pads . . . It's the name and title I'll be given whenever I'm able to return. The pads of the pride protect all the banu and cubs, making sure their lives are comfortable and secure. In turn, the banu help rear the cubs and often commune together, forming almost a sister-hood with each other." Ok, so sometimes it wasn't that peaceful, but why couldn't it be? O'tep and Ukoo had been very close until something happened. . . and the other banu seemed to get along well with each other. He also failed to add that the banu had to devote themselves to one Pad and their expectations as mate and mother figure. Oh well. Details, details. "And while I am truly enjoying the rogue lands, I will say, my heart will always be back in the Ukuucha'wafalme." This wasn't a lie. Rahim's heart was back in the pride specifically for two reasons - Ukoo, his most beloved mother and perhaps more importantly, Suha, his dear friends. He did miss their company, and would be thrilled to return victorious.

Ly found walking beside Rahim to be a rather pleasant experience, he didn't seem to be in a vast hurry or rush along as though he had somewhere better to be like some males did and was just humoring her. He actually seemed to be viewing this as a walk with a friend...and that, was...well it was kind of nice.

"Oh" She commented after he had finished his explanation, her muzzle pursed somewhat in thought as she pondered everything he had said. He did seem to love his home - the tone in his voice and he way he spoke of it showed that clearly enough. It was more then she could say for her's really - oh the Pridelands were a nice enough place to live and she couldn't really complain about her cubhood all that much, she hadn't ever wanted for anything...except perhaps her mother.

In any case she felt her cheeks warm slightly as she recalled him calling her pleasant company and she spoke up again before she did something silly to make it obvious. "You sound like you miss it allot" She stated, casting a sideways glance at him before continuing on "I can see why, it sounds like a nice place...back home the pride is so large that I guess it's just hard to feel really close to anyone, it's more like a giant community then a close knit family...well I mean some families are close knit - but mine never really has been. You seem like your quite attached to your home though"

Which made her recall some of the other things he had said - things like 'had to take temporary leave' and 'when I'm able to return'..which begged the question why he'd had to leave "How come you left?" Ly realized maybe this was a bit nosy..but she was a curious sort and really just couldn't help herself. There were lots of questions she wanted to ask - such as what these Kajira' really where and why some females became them..but the 'why he left' question held her focus for now.

Rahim did find walking with the pale coated lioness pleasant. She was pretty to look at and was fun to converse with, even if she seemed a little young. But . . he was young too . . . and there was nothing wrong with that. Rahim was confident enough, and he was already trying to formulate a plot to get her back to the pride.

He couldn't fight her the whole way, she'd have to somehow come willingly. Now, from their conversation, she seemed less than thrilled with her home, which meant if he could gain her trust she could . . .well. . . .perhaps he could convince her to come back with him.

Hmm. Decisions, decisions.

For now though, he needed to continue to play his role as new friend and acquaintence. The more she could come to trust him, the better! He wasn't looking to harm her anyway. Rahim had never been an abusive sort, though he knew when a banu crossed a line and when force was necessary to lay down the law. But right now, the butterfly faced female was in good company and until he came up with a solid argument, she was safe.

"Yeah, the Ukuucha'wafalme - that's my prides name - isn't large but it's . . . it's solid. There are lots of members without feeling overwhelmed or over looked." And that was the truth. A Pad pr Banu could find as much company or peace as he or she wished without having to look far. There were many nights Rahim had enjoyed the quiet alone from all of his many siblings. . . . but all the same, he could find Sihu or his mother and spend quality time with them as well.

Truly, he had been content back in the Ukuucha'wafalme. But it was his duty to leave. . . He couldn't be given the title of Pad until he returned with a female. Giving his tail a small flick, the red eyed male smiled a bit ruefully at Ly. "Well. . . to be perfectly honest I had to. All the adolescents leave so they might gain some life experience and explore the world outside of the pride." He stopped himself there, not quite trusting Ly's reaction to the idea that he couldn't return until he had a female in tow.

Not only did he assume she'd scare off and believe that was the only reason he was speaking to her but . . .well. . . . currently it was the only reason he was opening himself up to her! His true heart and love was back in the Ukuucha'wafalme, but until he had a female wrapped around his paw, he was stuck without her.

The sooner he got back and was recognized as a Pad, the sooner he could request Sihu for his banu. The plan was utterly foolproof! He just had to get back before it could fall in to place. So for now, Sihu would stay but a memory, and he would focus on befriending and possibly wooing Ly.

Ly mulled over Rahim's answers in her mind before remarking upon them, she didn't want to simply blurt out the first thing that came to mind when he was clearly so much more worldly then she was. Better to think a bit she figured and hopefully sound a bit more mature because of it, she didn't want him thinking of her as a daft little cub.

It didn't really occur to her that he might be hiding some things about his pride, but then she'd grown up in a pride with very few limitations, traditions or rules and while what he'd already said made his home very different...she couldn't really fathom just how different quite yet, and it couldn't be a bad place...why would such a nice lion miss a bad place? That just didn't make any sense whatsoever and why with the tradition he'd just shared with her it sounded like anyone not happy with the Pride could just...not come back when they left as young lions.

Though the tradition did give her some pause and she glanced at him for a few moments - he'd never mentioned his parents but surely he had someone back home who would worry for him and from what she imagined a proper family to be then surely they would have been scared for his safety at such a time. "Truly? They let you go off? On your own? With no one to escort you or badger you when you return?" She wanted to add 'Doesn't your mother worry for you' to the barrage of questions but would afraid that might show her youth just a tad much - never mind that they were so clearly practically the same age. He seemed older to her because of his experiences.

Rahim was amused at the female's surprise. He hadn't thought anything of his position as a pesar. He had known since cubhood that one day he would be out on his own, in need of a mate and a female to return with him. He knew he would be forced to leave the pride and live a grand adventure on his own. "It's something all adolescent males have to do, actually. So no, I can't say my mother or the other banu in my pride worry about us. It's been a tradition since as long as I can remember and I have to say I'm glad for it."

It was true. He had grown considerably since he had been turned out on the hunt. He had learned independence and had discovered he truly did have feelings for his pale furred companion, Suha. As soon as he made it back, he would talk to her and then hopefully her father about taking her on his beybanu. Surely the sultan couldn't say no. But that was still a long ways away. He would be no Pad or worthy of Suha without a female in tow. That was where Lycaena came in . . .

Thankfully, the pretty female seemed fairly excitable. Part of Rahim wanted to be honest and see if he could convince her to return with him for the sake of getting to go home. But she was still a stranger and unlikely to enjoy the fact she'd be considered property. No, his first trick was to just get her to come with him, on the journey back to the Ukuucha'wafalme.

"Oh Ly, I wish you could come back with me to visit my pride. Or at least journey back so you might get to see everything the world has to offer. If this land is all you've known, I could show you some great sights. The ocean, the sand dunes, the jungles and even some deserts. The trip up here was beautiful, and I know I must return soon. But while the journey was fun alone, I think it would be even better if it were shared." He wasn't being completely dishonest. The journey had been amazing and Rahim, while he didn't require company, could at least appreciate it. Lycaena seemed cheerful enough, and was certainly pretty, why shouldn't he want to bring her back?

Still. He knew not to press his luck or look too forward. Giving a small laugh and wistful sigh, he shrugged. "Still . . . I know we've just met, so that's a bit forward. I just hope that someday you might get the opportunity to travel. The world is an amazing place. It let me meet you, after all. Think of all the other lions you might get to meet if you could only leave you pride and family for a little while."

Ly ducked her head slightly as he explained his prides tradition - of course it would be something like that and she'd probably just made herself look like a bit of a fool by asking all the silly questions she had...and she found she didn't really like making herself look like a fool in front of Rahim - even hough for the most part Ly had never really cared about such things before.

No matter she supposed, what was done was done and she could hardly take her words back now could she? "I suppose if it is that important to your Pride and so many have been doing it for so very long then it wouldn't be a worrisome thing for them to think about" Ly agreed - though honestly she thought she herself might have been a bi nervous about it if she had been made to do such a thing.

Of course such a thought just made her feel even younger and more foolish when compared to Rahim who had already seen so much where she had seen so little. They were the same age and surely if he could do it then so could she! The way he spoke of the world merely inflamed her desire to see it and maybe it was incredibly foolish and reckless - she had just met him after all...but Ly saw an opportunity that she didn't think she'd get again. Sure he hadn't outright said he wanted her to come along, but he'd hinted at it pretty strongly and she really truly wanted him to think she was brave and confident enough to do what he did - despite her foolish words so she paused in their walk and gave him a determined look "Take me with you, to see these places you've spoken of, they sound so lovely..and I'm tired of living a sheltered dull life here..." She asked him, thankfully managing to keep from sounding like she was begging...but letting a him of stubbornness enter her look in case he tried to talk her out of it.

She took the bait, hook, line, and sinker. Rahim couldn't stop the smile that appeared on his features, a sudden brightness coloring his crimson gaze. "Really? You'd . . .you'd come with me, to see the world and back to my pride, just like that?" A sort of relief had colored his words, and he coudn't help but be quite glad and very proud. Sure, he knew that Ly would find herself in a position she wouldn't be ready for, but that was her own problem. He'd make their trip back to the Ukuucha'wafalme fun, and he would give her many opportunities to see the world. She might come to hate him after she learns of her place n the pride. . .

But that was a risk he was willing to take.

This was the start of his position as a true pad. He had his first female, his first banu, and she was going to blindly follow him back. How foolish she was, but she would learn, someday. He'd take care of her, certainly, and he knew Suha would be good company for her too. Now, to make it back, and soon! There was much to be done.

"If you want to come, I would love the company. We can better get to know each other on the way, and I promise you won't regret the adventure." She might regret the result of the adventure, but until they stepped on to the pride lands, he'd make sure she kept her days exciting and full of wonder. There was a lot of good in this world, and he'd want Ly to experience it. It would be the calm before the storm, the light before she came to realize her place. "I can teach you about my pride too, since there are some strange traditions you'll have to know if you come visit. But we'll have fun, you and I. This is the start of a very epic adventure for the both of us."

More than she would soon realize.
