People like you make the band sh*tty.
People like you who go around like an immature little kid talking sh*t about other sections on the internet for reasons unbeknown st to me, you take your opinion, which is probably on based on one drumline, and turn it into a big F***ing hoopla about stupid Sh*t.

We play louder so everyone in the band stays in rhythm since we are the backbone.

And its not called keyboard percussion, it's mallet percussion.

Personally I think every section can get annoying sometimes (even my own xp ) it just so happens that the percussion plays louder than the band most of the time so their mistakes are more noticeable. Although I must admit our durmline needs to extend their dynamic range to a piano...

Well we call it both keyboard percussion and mallet percussion...
our books say keyboard percussion

Umm percussionist play loud because our instruments are loud, just to clarify, not all percussionist or drummers play immaturely and obnoxiously all the time, that's just your band. Many percussionist don't show off unless they are 6th graders. Another thing why would you post this on the the main forum knowing that there are many percussionist out there. Please think this out with thought next time before you post dear.

My drumline is not exactly like that. Yeah we have our moments of saying we're better than another drumline or just a drumline player, but we're not going to show off something we don't know how to do. We also play loud when we want to, though when we have to be quiet, we will be quiet. We use correct dynamics and we don't rush our music. Sometimes we make our mistakes, but as my band would say "LOUD AND PROUD!" So don't put drumline down until you've tried to play snare, bass, crash cymbals, and or quads (tenors (whatever)).

i kinda agree i have the same problem with my section. our drum captain, for some STUPID reason, is on bass drum. so the one to call off the cadence is a sophomore followed by a bunch of freshmen on snares. they're a little...confused...dont stay together well. also, before each song we play while marching, while the drum majors are giving us the tempo the drummers (who just happen to be directly behind me) go DUT! DUT! DUT DUT DUT DUT! (1,2. 1,2,3,4! is where they got it from) and its so annoying. it doesnt even work they still fall apart and drag the band down with them. percussionsits irk me, but when you find good quiet ones its usually not so bad XD

Our lead snare is OBNOXIOUS. He can't even keep a beat. And he was really mean to the younger snare player last year. :<
But they play OBNOXIOUSLY loud at times; like, unnecessarily loud, while we're in the band room. I mean, I know you're using your marching ones, but tone it down just a little.

Some of these comments really sting. :*|
Not all percussionists are like that, only the ones who haven't matured yet. I do know that the some people in percussion are loud, but not all percussionists are like that. Percussion is supposed be balanced within the music being played. Band is like a body, all organs/sections are needed and not a single one is more important then the other.

I'm a percussionist and the last thing I'd do is try to show off.
