Things were just not adding up reasonably anymore! All he did was just ask that cloaked kid what he could do, and he replies stating that he is not a thief. About as incriminating as a child saying "I definitely didn't steal the cookies from the cookie jar" entirely unprovoked. This boy, this Sunil, he could not be trusted. He was the first to arrive at Falboro, a bit before the moronic Joshua, the polite Ziaram or the quiet Sephas. He could surely have had the time to scope out the entire town with his hearing and smell. What kinds of people had good senses of hearing and smell? Thieves, that's who. So, when Sunil decided to run off, citing a "straggling associate" as the cause, the Mayor was even more skeptical. If he had known of someone who was falling behind, wouldn't he have simply waited up for them, especially if they had no idea where the thieves' hideout was? Unless, of course, it was deliberate! This Sunil was clearly running off to get his accomplice so that, while the others, quite likely the same ilk as the thief due to association, were off doing what they'd be getting paid for, Sunil and his associate would be plundering the town, leaving nothing left at all!

"I-if you'll excuse me, something has just come to my attention. A last-minute preparation for the festival, if you will..." he said, in a voice loud enough for the Mage and two Myrmidons to hear. Sunil, of course, was already running off into the distance. "I'm sorry I can't see you off, but this is really quite urgent, I hope you understand." he continued, quickly turning around and hurrying off back into the town.

...Guys like you? Is that what that cat said? Guys like you?! This stupid, insensitive hairball had the gall to judge him by something he could not control? Even then, he laces the insult with salt as it stabs the emotional wound, calling him more reliable than one of the others. He had the nerve to say "I don't know you, but you seem pretty useful, but I still don't like you." That... it was... those damned laguz, always judging people. Maybe if they didn't live so long, they'd be a bit nicer to people, but no. In Hatari, some laguz still viewed him with disgust, and even here, in a place nearly without laguz, the ones that do exist seem to hate him even more!

On top of that, did the rat even have any common courtesy? Was it typical for Cat Laguz to treat people with no respect, not even calling them by name, but by blanket statements? Was his remark of "blackie" referring towards Sephas's darker skin (though it was hardly black, it was definitely brown) or that man Ziaram's clothes and hair? The Mayor went out of his way to refer to each of them by name, so there was no reason the cat couldn't use the knowledge he'd just gained. It was... it was just... the man's remarks were a sin against the gods far more than any may say his birth would be.

"Ziaram, Joshua! Get in here, now. We're leaving!." he shouted, sure it would reach both of their ears. Hopefully, they'd be long gone before the rude Sunil got back. And if, somehow, the cat was able to catch up, he'd be getting buried.

While that was going on, the Mayor was already running out in a direction to intercept Sunil, a shovel in hand. After all, being able to cut through his town was a great boost. As he ran, hoping his path would connect with the thief's, he saw something... something positively unreal. There was a large, blue cat a good distance away, and it just... transformed into that thief! But, it was still a ways away, and whatever accomplice he was searching for, it was likely in that destroyed little house he was walking towards. His sharp senses would surely be dulled by the scent of decay, the noise of the rats sure to be inside, that hood of his, any conversation he might be having before he sprung to ransack poor Falboro.

The Mayor ran, at first, slowing to a cautious walk as he got closer, closer, and closer still to the hut. As he reached the door, the Mayor saw the cloaked boy standing, facing away from him, towards whoever he was talking to. He couldn't very well see who it was, but if it was anything like this shape-shifter, it would probably turn into a rat or something. But, no time for wondering, he had to protect his town from this thief!

Without hesitation, he rushed forward, approaching Sunil from behind. With a somewhat forceful swing, he slammed the back of the shovel into Sunil's head, most likely knocking him out. No possible way for him to dodge it, surely, so the thief was as good as caught! And if he did manage to somehow dodge, seeing his employer attack him would definitely keep him from retaliating, what with any attack leading to mission failure. As Sunil was taken care of, the Mayor spied a lone girl with powerful green hair and soft pink clothes, quite the out-of-place thing to find. A little girl, this age? Surely she couldn't be his accomplice! But, with the ringleader done with, whoever the accomplice could be surely wouldn't risk a one-body thieving mission.

"You know, lass, you should be glad I came here! This man here, he is a dirty, rotten thief! I don't even want to wonder what in the world he would have done to you in here!" he said, a somewhat parental smile on his face. This girl... what could he do with her? He didn't want her anywhere near this thief, and with as weird as he clothes were, she couldn't bode well for the town. Sure, the idea made him feel bad, but it was the best course of action he could think of...

"Little girl, stay here, okay? I'm going to go give this thief to the proper authorities, and then I'll be right back, okay? And don't leave this building, either, or I won't be able to find you!" The Mayor smiled, patting Tiki on the head, before taking Sunil's body and flinging it over his shoulder. The Mayor didn't even acknowledge Tiki anymore, and simply rushed out the door, Sunil in tow. Were she to disobey him and follow at all, she would find that the Mayor was already gone, out of her sight. Of course, this would be explained by his choice to walk around the corner of the building before walking straight for the village. Now, if she were to look out, the house's walls would be blocking her eyes from seeing him and following him back!

...he just hoped that someone would find her before she ended up dead.
PostPosted: Sun Jul 11, 2010 4:37 pm

All Tiki could do was just look forward, mouth agape. What else could she do as some angry looking man ran forth out of nowhere, knocked out the friendly fellow she had been talking with, and called him a dirty rotten thief? Come to think of it, he had been wearing oddly concealing clothing... but she was wearing travel clothing too, over her little pink dress. It was only concealed somewhat, though. The hooded man seemed like a decent character, and he seemed to want to help. But what did Tiki know? It was all so confusing.

Tiki could help but wince uncomfortably as the man pat her on the head. After all, he had just assaulted her company with a shovel. She felt a shiver run down her spine. Why did he leave her alone again? He said he would come back for her once the man was dealt with, but why couldn't Tiki go with him? Why did she have to stay in this old gross house alone? He put her own hand to her head as she tried to calm herself down again. He would be back... Or at least Tiki hoped. He said Tiki should be glad he came, but she didn't feel glad. No one was helping her, and everyone was leaving as quickly as they appeared.

She decided to stay where she was anyway, though. If worst came to worst, at least she would have a roof above her head. This new man was the only one she knew about right now. And any direction Tiki could go in would probably lead into a forest or canyon or somewhere else, where she would be even more lost then she was now. She walked a foot or so back into the small house and sat on a clear part of the floor. She tucked in her knees and tried to rest her swirling unease as she waited. Someone would come to find her eventually. This was the safest place to be.

User ImageThings sure got off to a shaky start. The cloaked laguz that was with the mayor when he arrived left, looking for an...associate. Well, it did get him thinking something was up, however...

It seemed Sephas wanted to get out of there soon. Urgent matters...going after the laguz...well seems like he may have something else planned. Though an associate? Out here? Did he actually have a plan to meet with others, or was this a strange issue?

"Either it is just me, or something about Sunil doesn't feel right. Then with the mayor running in the same direction he went...something doesn't feel right...uneasy feeling...I'll catch up." This choice of his will cost him with more than money, yet the uneasy feelings aren't ones you can just shake off, so off he went in the direction the two went, since clearly something was going on this way.

Only to come across a small house, with no one else around, and...the door seemed partly open, so curious, Ziaram went in, to see a young girl in there. "You ok? Oh and another thing...you seen a cloaked figure, or a man that looks like he would be in charge here?" Oh wait...he should introduce himself. "My name's Ziaram...and if you need anyone, I can lead you to a group that can keep you safe." What's the worst that will happen? Oh yeah...Falboro coming back, to see him here, and then whacking him upside the head. Well either that or the girl running away, since his weapon is visible, despite showing no intentions to attack her.
PostPosted: Sun Jul 11, 2010 6:17 pm

Tiki jumped up at the sound of Ziaram's voice. After that display, she had almost resigned herself to remaining by herself for a while more. She wasn't expecting a new person to find her so soon. Why was his weapon drawn? Was he a mercenary or something? Tiki didn't know. But he was talking about the hooded man. Did he know him? If the hooded man actually was a thief... than going with this man could mean a lot of trouble.

But then again, he also mentioned the other man. And he introduced himself. Perhaps this man was sent by the other one to pick her up and bring her to a group or town, and she could finally ask for help!

Tiki wasn't sure of either of these.

But what she was sure of was that he was a person. He seemed kind and polite enough. And he promised that he would keep her safe, which was all she wanted right now. If he wanted to attack her, he probably would have done so already. And how else would he know that she was looking for a group if he hadn't been sent to get her by the man from before?

It was in Tiki's best interest to go with whoever she could. At least, it made sense to Tiki that way.

"Ziaram?" That was a weird name. "Please take me to wherever your group is."

Come to think of it... this was all pretty frustrating. Surely this man would stay around, and help her find out where she was!

"Please help me!"

Oh look and now Ziaram was gone too... Joshua watched the receding back of the apparently unable to take a hint myrmidon, then he looked back up at Sephas. the geomancer had a kind of "What the ********?" face on and looked down at Joshua, they matched stares for a moment before Sephas narrowed his eyes and Joshua looked away.

"No amount of luck in the world is gonna get them outt..... Hey! My hat!" He clambered up into the back of the wagon and then continuing his way through the covering hopped into the seat beside the driver.

"Gimme that." he snarled as he snatched off of Jerry's head and plopped it back onto his own, sparing Jerry a glare just for him.

"Don't touch my hat." he warned

(Short derpy post is short n derpy, basically Joshua is the only one who did anything right..... A NICE CHANGE OF PACE)
PostPosted: Tue Jul 27, 2010 12:15 am

(( Damn right, Joshua. And because I just wrote a massive textwall, you're going to just have to suck it up and deal with the utter s**t I'm putting here. We were going to get Tiki immediately after you all got in the darn carriage anyway, so it's no huge deal. And the shovel to Sunil is working out well, since Roy had to duck out anyhow!

...also, Nommy, you made Ziaram run off on an entirely starship-quality leap. The Mayor of Falboro, who is not named Falboro, went back into town before walking out through another part of town and stumbling upon Sunil. So if "backwards" and "that other direction" are the same thing to him, then by all means, they went the same direction... sweatdrop But, it's just a speed bump that sends us flying past the intended path of the plot. No biggie.))

Sephas was not exactly stupid. Maybe he was a little on the naive side, but he was hardly reckless or incapable of using common sense or blind to the obvious. The group was meant to go and defeat a bunch of thieves, and they could not do that with two people. The infuriating alley cat had ran off, and the plain swordsman followed almost immediately after. So, all they were left with were simply a mage who was still learning the ropes and a swordsman who seemed to have bad luck and pain follow him. Two people were hardly capable of storming a thieves' den, regardless of how skilled the man with the red hair was.

And of course, thieves fought dirty. Traps, poison, all sorts of trickery could await them inside wherever they were going, and they'd need as many able-bodied people as they could get! For all Sephas knew, the thieves could have feral laguz or some sort of terrible hellspawned devilbeasts like the ones he'd seen in Adliana. Sure, zombies weren't something a thief would keep around, but if those could exist, he had no clue what a bunch of cutthroats may come across!

So it was with good intentions but sheer irritation as he ordered Jerry the Carriage Driver to follow the swordsman who ran off. And it goes without saying that horses go faster and farther than humans, so the gap was easily shortened, and Jerry, Sephas and Joshua soon found themselves outside the dilapidated shack that Ziaram had just entered likely moments ago.

Jerry quickly turned the carriage around, preparing to venture off towards the thieves' den the moment the group was ready. After all, they didn't know where it was, only he did, and it would be quite treacherous to walk all the way there. So, he was forced babysitting these teenagers and full-grown adults.

"Hey Ziaram..." he said, in a rather singsongy voice as he took a few steps towards the shack. "Where'd you go? We've got a job to do, we don't have time for these detours!" As Joshua would likely be getting out of the carriage any moment now, if he wasn't already, Sephas was more than willing to send the scarlet-haired-swordsman into the shack first, in case Ziaram ended up attacked or injured or something. Really, the mage was already at his wit's end, and he was quickly regretting taking this job. If everyone was as flighty and spontaneous as this, he'd rather just stay home and read...

Oh, and as Joshua was getting out of the carriage (something I'm sure he'd do, knowing him) Jerry wasted no time in using gravity as a distraction to swipe the hat back off of Joshua's head, taking it with a light pinch of the top, so there'd be nothing tugging on the man's hair to tip him off. If he wanted to have a war of immaturity over Jerry's hat, then let the war commence!

...after Tiki gets on the carriage, please.

Tiki grinned. They knew Ziaram. This must be the group that was sent to find her. She walked sheepishly around to the back of the carriage, and quickly scurried up into the back, gesturing for Ziaram to come along. She didn't ask questions. Things around here seemed to come and go quickly, and Tiki didn't want to loose another opportunity. She wanted help from someone, anyone... And at last, she was going to finally get away from the cold, yucky house remains. She let out a sigh of relief and sat down next to the dark-haired swordsman.

((It's rushed, unreal, and should have had a dialogue post before getting on the plot-train. But that doesn't matter right now. Let's get dangerous.))
PostPosted: Tue Jul 27, 2010 3:18 pm

User ImageFirst off, running off after some people is not always the best idea...however, when stumbling across someone who seemed scared, and having no idea where they are, what would someone do? So...being the person he is, it is a natural reaction of Ziaram to help out the young Tiki.

Now, after letting her know he was no harm, Sephas and the others showed up, calling out for him. So, after getting out of the shack after Tiki, and showing no harm done to him, he replied to the strange mage. "Yeah, I get there is a job. The way the mayor ran after the other guy made this seem strange, so...well the details don't matter. The girl needs assisstance, so I am glad to lend that to her."

Now that the part there was done, he moved into the carriage, keeping an eye on Joshua, since that one wasn't always someone you could trust...and of course he ended up making a fool of himself earlier. Oh well...as long as he did nothing to scare Tiki, things would end out well. Besides, if he did try anything, then he would be able to taste something...a good part of magic from his Light Brand. This trip will be a strange one, yet at least there is something I can do...help this young girl out...hang on a sec. Since they couldn't go on calling her a young girl, this was something that would be important. Looking at Tiki, Ziaram asked, "What is your name?"

((Yeah sorry Rei...though that is the general way I am...something strange going on, and...ok I am a fool that way...and you know I totally meant the mayor, and not to call him Falboro. Anyways...yeah.))

(( FIRE THE EXPOSITION CANNONS! :| It's been like, six days, and there haven't been any posts. I doubt you'd all miss much in one or two posts. ))

SO EVERYONE GETS IN THE CARRIAGE AND IT GOES. Sephas and Joshua are in the front-middle area of it, Tiki and Ziaram are in the back, though they're all still inside comfortably. For the sake of obviousness, I'm going to say that they all introduced themselves to Tiki, so she knows their names. Yeah. Then the carriage begins to move, going off towards the mountains behind the old shack. As it may very likely end up taking a bit for the carriage to make it through the mountains, feel free to have the four of them socialize and stuff. And while you all are doing that, some place considerably further into the mountains...

A cutthroat is wandering the mountains, quite a long ways from the carriage that is slowly advancing. Should he be reckless, death would surely await him, and it would be a painful one. These mountains are hardly safe to traverse alone, with wyverns and assorted wildlife wandering about. Those things could kill without remorse, and that made these scouting missions difficult. The rest of the gang would need to know if there were any nests in the mountains here, for the next job. That little farm town was loaded with food, and if they could take it over, they'd be set for life!

But before he could further investigate a faint noise he heard far off to his right, he saw something far more attention-worthy to his left: a very primitive camp, with a small remainder of a campfire, and... some thing near it. The thief cautiously crept closer, only to see that the figure had its back turned, facing away from his approach! There was something... it looked like cloth, blocking any look at noticeable features. The target was completely concealed, but... they'd likely not know he was coming, because of it!

Unsheathing his short blade, the thief broke into a run, throwing caution to the wind. Even if he made all the noise in the world, this thing couldn't kill him! He had the advantage, and he was going to use it. The thief curved his path onto a small hill overlooking the small campsite, and quickly leaped towards the figure, swinging his blade as he falls towards it. Granted, the subtlety thieves were known for was probably gone, so it was up to reflexes and luck to dictate if this thief would get his prey...

(( Red Font is not to be interacted with by those in the carriage. You're nowhere near it. The red font is for someone else who wanted to ease themselves into FEF RP. If you can't tell, they're the cloaked figure at that camp. And you'll run into that one soon enough, don't worry. :P Just interact with each other for a bit (I promise I won't get mad) and then you'll find yourselves progressing the plot. |3 ))
PostPosted: Mon Aug 02, 2010 9:55 pm

(That'd be me! Here goes my first FEF RP. :3 )

Sloppy. Might as well be an avalanche for all the subtly they're using.

Moving as he was, the cutthroat failed to notice the slow shifting of the figure's body, lifting onto its haunches under the cloak. He hit the ground; two steps out of range, one... Knife held out at arms length, he watched the body sway and slip to the side, a leg trailing behind to bend and kick in a circle, slamming into the backs of his knees. The figure darted away from the struggling wretch.

The thief's shock gave way to an indigent, humiliated fury. The hell was this?! When he was done, this sonovabitch would be leather for his boots, be scraps for the wyverns, be--

He turned on his knees and jerked backward, sucking in his breath to avoid the sword point at his neck. His eyes flickered upward, first eying the spade-shaped amulet laying on the chest. But, upon taking in the figure's face, he sputtered a verbal vomit of astonishment.

Ace wrinkled her snub of a nose at his revulsion, but let it pass. She moved her head toward the knife in his hand, then jerked it in a throwing motion.

Disarm yourself. Now

At last, things were starting to look up for Tiki. Actions were being made, and things were happening. These people looked fine enough. Suspicion about their motives never crossed her mind. Maybe some other little girl would have been scared of being picked up by a group of armed strangers. Tiki, however, never thought for a second that any of them would hurt her. They didn't do anything yet, after all. And if they did, Tiki could handle it. Tiki was still in control of her actions, and Tiki could defend herself should the need arise.

Tiki knew this. Therefore Tiki didn't think about this.

Where she was, or how she got there were still a mystery. Right now, that thought was in the back of her mind, replaced with the simple desire to get to town. Too much at once was overwhelming. Instead of trying to sort things out all at once, she relished the opportunity to sit in a comfortable spot, feeling more confident about her situation. After all, she was on the right track now. No need to make things complicated. Best to simply go with it, right?

She sat quietly for a few minutes after learning all of their names. Just sitting, looking around, being content. But the silence got to her after a little bit, and she began to feel a bit impatient. They should have reached the village by now. If the man could have walked to and from the village, surely they would have been there by now.

She glanced outwards and tried to look at their surroundings. Were they going into the mountains?

Tiki nudged Ziaram with her arm. "I could be wrong, but... I thought that the village would be nearer by than this. We're not going the wrong way, are we?"
PostPosted: Wed Aug 04, 2010 4:26 pm

User ImageFor a while of the trip, Ziaram was just looking off into the distance, enjoying nature, and also...thinking back to those in Impersus. As nice as it would be to see them again, he knew that he wouldn't be going back by now...it had been far too long for this to just be a little side trip.

Of course with nature comes the beauty of the land...I mean, watching the mountains go, you can think of how nice some views of the land are...going by trees show how some life has flourished. These thoughts were running through his mind until his arm was nudged by Tiki.

I could be wrong, but... I thought that the village would be nearer by than this. We're not going the wrong way, are we?" "Well...we just left Falboro. That was the village, where the three of us...Sephas, Joshua and myself...learned more about an object stolen by some thieves."

Now something was making a bit of sense to Ziaram. If she came from Falboro, she would have known about that stolen object...so then... "This will be confusing news...but you aren't in your homeland anymore. This is a different land...Learania. Don't get me wrong, it is confusing...but even though you are in a different land, you are still safe with us. I will remain as a guard for you."

Wait... so you aren't going to the village? I was told by someone else that I was going to be taken back to the village. It's not you?"
This was not good. But no harm done yet. Ziaram was even answering her next question. Maybe next he would tell her how she got here. Maybe someone misused a warp staff? Probably not. That sounded stupid.

"I already know I'm not in my homeland. I should be in Pales. I arrived there this morning, but... I know I'm not there anymore. I don't know how I got here, and I would really, really like to find a way back before people start worrying. This is Learania, you said? I've never heard of it before. At least I don't think I have..." Tiki was never very good at remembering locations. She was confused, yes, but not that confused.

The bulk of the situation hadn't sunk in. Tiki would have never guessed that she had jumped into an entirely different world in a split second. That sort of thing required lots of effort, powerful magic, and not casually walking through a door in Pales.

User ImageThis was going to be a long trip for sure...and having to explain about the entire, you were doing your own thing, then for some reason, a force came up and took you to here thing, wasn't going to be easy.

"As soon as we get the item stolen from the thieves, we will be going back to Falboro. However, in the meantime, we will keep you safe." Sure, it seemed easy for others to understand this concept...they had been there long enough to understand and accept this as their new home.

"I figure you wouldn't have heard of Learania because...well this is a different world than all the other places. None of us understand how we got here. You say you are supposed to be in Pales...well, whatever happened there lead you to Falboro where we managed to find you, and then get you to be here with us." It was going to be a long trip for sure...both for Ziaram and for Tiki. New info would have to sink in for Tiki, and Ziaram was the one that would be guarding her. One crazy trip all right.

Joshua got out of the carriage. Then Joshua got back in the carriage without knowing that he was now hatless, which was weird because it was usually tilted far enough so it covered one of his eyes. He gotten so used to that by now though that he simply assumed his hat was already on his head, and so the hat-less swordsman turned to Sephas.

"So, Sephas. You like to gamble?" It was going to be a boring carriage ride if he didn't.
