That it's guys usually doing that more has led me to some awkward moments in my straight relationships. Two girls whom I had been in long-term relationships that had gotten physical nonetheless felt too ashamed of their lady bits to masturbate, at least with their own hands. It was depressing.

I have had this conversation many a time. I don't know whether sexuality has to deal with it, but guys in general tend to masturbate more because its easier to get to as well as it being a relaxer. Women don't have such easy accessibility nor do they use it as a relaxant because their bodies don't have to make more eggs afterward. I'm not saying that girls don't like to masturbate though, because some of my friends tend to really go in depth about masturbating.

Wait, how is masturbation not a relaxant for girls? It's the release of endorphins, not of eggs or sperm, that makes orgasm so relaxing.
I would do it a lot more often if I could. I think I masturbate a lot more frequently than most girls my age. However, from what I know, I would say that guys still masturbate more, regardless of sexuality.

Not only is it asking people extremely personal questions, but this is definately not keeping it PG13 which I believe is a Gaia TOS and it is not a subject protected by being an indepth discussion that is held at a purely observational veiw. Go somewhere else.I think there is a fine line between what is appropriate and what is inappropriate. Depending on the OP's intentions, it could get out of hand. I think it all depends on the person because I know some guys who are total prudes and I know some freaky girls (not that I mind)!
Take me for example, I'm a girl but I find other people don't know what you want like you yourself does (if that made any sense). I tried having sex once and it was a total failure but I won't judge all guys on that experience. I would have to say that more males masturbate than females do. It is, however, quite taboo to talk about it among females. I'm rather open about it. One of my female friends didn't even know that girls could do it. As far as I know, only two of my friends do it. One, because we often forward porn/erotica (mostly erotica) to each other, and the other admitted to being caught by her mother. A few friends denied it when I asked. And yes, occasionally I do ask people. I'm trying to get people to accept it as a natural and healthy thing, as opposed to something dirty and perverted. And so I bring it up as a topic of discussion. Of course, that has led to me being labeled as the dirty-minded member of my group of friends. Meh, whatever it takes.
